What did you think of the poem?
  Well written, very pretty
It's was okay but the dialect could be better
It's wasn't that good, the story is dry
It was bad, I would never read it again
It was so bad I'd read it again just for laughs

"Bah Ha-lee" is what he said to me
"Leaving to the sea, trudging away from life'
Why do you say such things, my gorgeous wife?"
I tell him everyday "I am not happy, not here,
but far away, where the waves mercilessly beat the sand
and plants the flourish across the land,
By the bay, where I want to stay."
But of course he doesn't listen,
You see he did pay attention to me
But that was before I discovered the sea
So I am unhappy if you can't tell
It's so unfair I could scream and yell
But I wouldn't, because then
He still wouldn't listen
So I wait 'till I can rejoin my family
In the sea, I know it seems silly
I haven't told my husband
That I have a calling for the sea
It's the only thing he doesn't know about me
I have a desire inside to swim with fish
A burning dream a bashful wish
To go and play in water at bay
Soaking and singing relaxing and sinking
So here I go to try and be free
but again this is what he says to me
"Ba-ha-lee!! Leaving for the sea?!?!
Trudging away from life,
Why do you say such things my gorgeous wife?"
I just can't get through to him
By now it's true my chances are slim
So I have to go now
Or else I cannot sing nor swim
Or play in the water at bay
It will not ever happen because all I hear him say
Is "Ba-ha-lee!! Leaving for the sea trudging away from life
Why do you say such things my gorgeous wife?"
But now I say
"I'm leaving today
I know you think I'm crazy, and seem a little vain
But the one thing I haven't told you is that I'm a mermaid."
I can tell he is shocked and unaware
It's nothing like he does not care
He is not ready to hear such news
But I now I can live life in the deep, deep blues

Recently I've discovered I have a love for writing fantasy poems. Things that could never happen in real life, but also things that are a bit playful, childlike even. I love to have my readers feel like they're being talked to, as if told the story. It is placed in England, in a town not far from the Atlantic bay around about 1885 or so give or take a century maybe, I'm still working on the terminology and wordage because I'm not used to writing in old-English so please forgive me. I really hope you guys like it!!
