Lykas danced back and forth between the shards of frozen liquid that were fired at him. "Come. On!" the boy protested as he deflected blade after blade of ice as Windsong danced through the air, chiming it's song into the mostly still passage with each strike. After a moment, he realized he would never get away from these Pokemon if they thought he was harmless.
"I don't like doing this but....Chya!" he cried as he swung hard in a rapid arc, shattering the rapid shards of frigid, frozen water into a fog of frost. One more shard shot through and a clang rang through the corridor, chiming loud and crystal clear as a bell. A flash followed the chime and the shard flew back out of the frosty fog created by the boy's flashy slash. "Back off!" came Lykas voice as the ice struck the floor and stuck, just in front of the small Snorunt.
Lykas emerged from the now melting frost, his gaze hardened to a diamond edged determination. "I don't want to hurt you, but I refuse to be driven away from my goal." he said roughly as he stepped forward. Windsong's blade pointed down and the tip dragged across the stone floor as he walked, letting out crystal like chimes frequently. The Snorunt and a few other smaller Ice types ran off at the boy's look, though the water and ground types remained firm. It was not without some trembling from the way Lykas looked at them though.

Lykas swung Windsong in a long, lazy arc, striking a few stalactites above him as he did. Each strike rang out a wind chime like sound. As the sound echoed through the chamber, Lykas retreated into the cavern behind him. His silhouette took on an almost demonic look as the small mantle he'd taken to wearing fanned out behind him, looking like strange, evil wings. "This is far from over, I know. But for now, accept my song and leave to my own devices, and I shall leave you to yours." he whispered, his voice echoing as if from a mile away, though the passageway.

Once he was sure the Pokmeon weren't going to come further into this room with him, Lykas took the chance to really look around. It looked a lot like the room with the Ursaring in it. The difference here...there was only one thing in the room, an enormous statue of Arceus.
"Faith alone cannot withstand the might of nightfall in live. Are you faithful? Will your Gods protect you in your times of need? Can you keep your faith in the face of certain death? Prove it!" the voice from before bellowed at him as the Arceus statue's eyes began to glow bright red.
"This cannot be good." Lykas stated as he looked up and firmed his grip on Windsong.

Lykas watched the Statue towering above him. "Am I faithful? Can my 'Gods' protect me?" he asked it. "I have no Gods! I am faithful only in myself and those around me." he cried out to it as he prepared to defend himself. "The Gods only cause trouble. It is by the power of oneself and the strength one gains from others that we are capable of doing the things we do." he stated as the statue flared to life.
"PROVE IT!" it cried as what seemed like thousands of shards of light shot from the ring around its middle. "Face Judgment at the thousand hands of God!" it declared as the lights spread out and began to converge on the boy.
"I will not die!" Lykas cried as he rushed forward and began to lead the beams of light around the room. The large mass divided up into two groups and circled the room in opposite directions, guided by the unseen hands of the behemoth at the heart of the chamber.
As Lykas found himself at the heart of both halves of the attacks, he finally began to brandish Windsong in quick sweeps and arcs, deflecting the golden, black and white lights. Each one shattered into a cloud of sparkling dust as he struck it. He danced through the barrage as swiftly as possible. Though not very agile, he was able to swing the thin blade at a rapid enough speed to not need to dodge many of the blasts.

Lykas had deflected most of the blasts before one caught him off guard, striking him in the stomach as he turned to block one above it. "Ack!" he grunted in pain as he was suddenly overwhelmed by the attack. "GAAAHAHAHHHH!!" he screamed out as he was struck again and again by the powerful blasts.
"Judgment has been made." the Arceus statue spoke as the boy was consumed by it's trap. "Verdict...de-" "Stuff it!" "Impossible!"
Lykas coughed hard as he crawled from the smoke. "I'm not down for the count yet, stupid." he barked as he stumbled to the nearest wall and held himself up. "No one man, or Pokemon, has the right to lay judgment an anyone. Guilt and innocence can only truly be known by the one's involved." he said as he staggered towards the statue.
"Your courage is commendable, young human." the statue stated as it cracked. "Your will to survive is stronger than any I have witnessed in eons and your stamina is unbelievable for a mere mortal." it added as the cracks across it's body deepened and lengthened. "So go forth with my blessing and seek the power to become greater." it finally said as it cracked apart and crumbled away, revealing a stairway in the center of the pedestal it had stood on.
Lykas Sighed hard as he staggered towards the stairs and replaced Windsong into it's scabbard. "I can't take much more of this..." he told himself as he went. He could only thank the thoughts that he owed it to his friends to become stronger for his survival. Knowing that at least Tails and Miles believed in him had given him the strength to get back up and press on after that last attack.
Creeping through the darkness, he realized that, if nothing unexpected assailed him, he had gotten past all of the mentioned traps and tests.

Creeping through the shadows, Lykas noticed a faint pink fog rolling across the ground. "I must be getting close..." he told himself as he followed the winding, twisting, turning and seemingly endless staircase down.
"I haven't got the energy to do this forever." he groaned after a while. Thankfully the fog suddenly thickened and a faint glow presented itself to him from around the nearest bend. He sped up as best he could and hurried to toward it as fast as his body was able.
Rounding the bend, he was presented with an astonishing sight. An enormous lake of pristine beauty lay spread out before him. Its surface was as smooth as glass and glowed a soft pink with the delicate fog that rolled across it. Occasionally, a rumble could be heard and then a gurgle as the water boiled at the heart of the lake and a giant geyser erupted from the still water, scattering drops of scalding liquid across the surface to land like feathers on it's surface. Not a single drop, not the geyser itself even, left a ripple in the water's calm surface.
"This...this is beautiful..." Lykas remarked as he looked out over the water. Walking to the water's edge, he collapsed on the bank and gently dipped a finger into the cool liquid, trailing his finger through it and marveling at the lack of ripples. This water was unnaturally calm. It was an eerie kind of serenity that resonated through the cave.
Welcome to my domain, Lykas. came a soft female voice. I have been waiting for your arrival ever since you first stepped foot into my cavern. it stated delicately. The voice slid across the boy's ears like silk.
"Are you....the Aegis Milotic?" he asked through ragged breaths.
Indeed I am. the voice replied as something broke the water's surface, though it was almost impossible to see it. I have read your heart as you journeyed here. the Milotic said as it's body slowly became visible. You're heart is strong with the will to protect yourself and others, yet you wish not to fight if you must not. Those are the qualities of a true hero. she said as she made her way to the beach.
It would be my great honor to bestow upon you one of my scales. It may well aid you in the great quest that you are on. A journey of self discovery, and a goal of becoming strong. These are things that make humans so unique. she remarked as she held up her tail for Lykas to take one of her scales.
"Are you sure?" he asked her. She nodded in response. It does not hurt, so do not worry. she assured him. With that encouragement, he gently reached up and plucked a vivid blue scale from her tail.
Go now and journey to reach your goal, young human. The Aegis Milotic said as she lifted the boy with her tail and carried him to the opposite side of the lake. Releasing him on a small ledge, she pointed to a tunnel on the wall, an air vent most likely. Follow that path and you will find yourself on the shores of Lake Verity in no time. Good luck. she said as her form faded away and she vanished from sight.
Lykas looked to the scale in his hand and placed it in his pocket, turning to the tunnel and moving through it, crawling as his legs were too weak to carry him alone anymore.

Lykas crawled through the tunnel the Aegis Milotic had given him to escape with. He crawle,d not because he was small, it was large enough for several grown men to walk upright and side by side, he crawled because he had not the energy left in his legs to hold himself up as he went.
Huffing and puffing, he worked his way to the surface and crawled out into the sunlight. He was battered, bruised and felt broken in several places, but he was determined not to stop until he was strong enough to withstand any blow in order to protect those close to him.
"Mykel..." he grunted out as he came into clear view near the edge of the forest that surrounded Lake Verity. The Ralts heard his Trainer's call and came to his aid. "Take us back to the Academy..." Lykas said sternly. Mykel nodded, retrieved the boy's bag and Teleported them out.

When they arrived at The Academy, Lykas fell forward and landed flat on his face. "I Don't think I can walk on my own, Mykel." he told the Ralts as he attempted to crawl forward. "Hang on!" Mykel said hurriedly, lifted Lykas with Psychic and carrying him as best he could to the medical rooms.
The same young man from the boys first day of training was there and noticed them enter. "Oh, God! What happened?" he asked as he rushed over to Lykas and carefully caught him as Mykel let the boy fall from his mental grasp. Laying him down on a bed, he heard Lykas speak weakly.
"I...took Lady....Clemence's challenge...to see the...Aegis Milotic." Lykas said softly. "I...don't think I...would've lasted...much longer..." he said as he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
"Oh dear..." The young doctor breathed as he rushed off to find Lady Clemence.

A Young boy sat on a bed in a white washed room. "What am I doing here? What am I getting from this? What do I want from it all?" were questions ringing through his head.
"NO!" he declared as he sat up straight and stared at a picture hanging on a wall. "I'm doing this for her. For me. For us. For all of them." he assured himself. Suddenly, his body convulsed and the world went dark.
Lykas shot upright in the medical room of The Academy. "Where am I?" he asked as he looked around. It took him a moment to catch sight of Lady Clemence and the doctor. "What happened?" he asked in a rush.
"Nothing happened. You just wore yourself out. You've been asleep for hours." the doctor said as he walked over and handed Lykas his shirt. "You're pretty banged up and you've got a broken arm, but otherwise, I think you'll be fine." he informed the boy as he pulled the red fabric on.
"I heahd you saw the Milotic?" Lady Clemence asked as she approached. "Vhat vas it like?" she asked, her voice giving off a dreamy tone.
Lykas sighed as he recalled all the dangers of getting there. "It was...well guarded to put it nicely." He began. "But when I finally reached the lake where it lived, it was beautiful. It was so serene, delicate, almost fragile looking. The water was still as tinted glass. There was a soft pink fog rolling through the whole cave that made it seem so...ethereal, unnatural, surreal. And when the geyser in the heart of the lake erupted, the water's surface didn't even ripple in the slightest. It was like her power was enough to calm even the water's turbulence before it began." he told her, his eyes glazing over as he remembered the feeling of calm and contentment that had washed over him in her presence.
"And she was beautiful, almost invisible until she felt safe in my sight. And when she let me see her, she was even more beautiful, the light bouncing off her scales made her look like a serpentine angel." he said softly.
"She sounds simply vonderful." Lady Clemence remarked as she imagined what it might have looked like. "Did you heceive a scale fhom heh?" she asked after a moment.
"Yes." Lykas replied as he pulled out Lady Clemence's scale and handed it to her. After a moment of digging, he pulled out the ocean blue scale in his other pocket and held it up to the light.
"Magnifique!" Lady Clemence declared as she looked at it. "I knew I could hely on you, young apphentice." she said in praise as offered the boy an encouraging smile.
"Thanks. At first, I didn't think I'd be able to make it, but I did." Lykas remarked, blushing slightly.

After a while, Lykas finally had the strength to get up and move around. "I should probably be going now. I'm sure my friends are waiting for me." he told Lady Clemence. He'd been telling her every detail he could remember while he rested.
"Vehy vell." The Lady said as she stood up and helped Lykas to his feet. "You vill continue to thain undeh me, von't you?" she asked him as he pulled on his boots.
"Of course. This training is helping me more than you could ever know." Lykas replied, pulling his pants down over the high boots. "I'll be back as soon as I've recovered enough to handle more training." he assured the young aristocrat.
"Mykel, let's go." he requested of the Ralts. Mykel nodded and in a flash, both were gone.
"I hope he can handle the poweh he is seeking." Lady Clemence remarked to the doctor, who had returned to check in on them.
"He'll be fine. That boy has more guts than any of the students who've ever come through this school. And he's determined to have it his way, that's more than any of your other students." the man said as he sat down and began reviewing the boy's medical papers.
"Dear sweet Arceus!" he declared after a moment. "I don't believe this! You...Lady Clemence, that boy is -"
