Dumbledore, gay? So who did he love?

For those of you who didn't know, yes J.K.Rowling had announced a while back that Dumbledore is in actual fact, gay.

Anyways, that is not the point of this topic. I was wondering, considering that Dumbledore is:
Talented
Famous
Clever
Kind-hearted
Rich
Respected
...then how did he end up with absolutely no one 'special' in his life?

I would welcome your thoughts on it, for example, someone suggested to me a while back that maybe he was in love with Grindlewald, and that due to the fact that Grindlewald became evil, Dumbledore had no choice but to declare his open hatred for him. So, if this is the case, would that mean that Dumbledore sacrificed his love for the sake of humanity?

Dumbledore loved Grindelwald. But he was haunted by what Grindelwald could do. Im not sure but i believe he had a part is Dumbledores sisters death and later on Dumble kills him in a duel. But im not entirly sure.
