in my opinion, it's not just hip hop but a lot of other genres have artists that only rap about cash and girls and fame. I hate that because most of the artists that do that dont really put any meaning into their songs, and they get paid with number one singles! Ugh this obsession with material things that we can't get enough of... Has this society gone mad?!?

Hip Hop is not dead because the masses love it. It may not have any morale values, but people love the beats, fast talking, and hot, half-naked girls in the music videos.

the statement that hiphop is dead is way wrong, its not only music hiphop has 4 main roots a.k.a the 4 elements of hiphop MCing, breakdance, grafiti and DJing. all of these elements still live today there is some wack a** rapper and wack a** fans that atempt to mess with real hiphop, but true hiphop fans should not care that some 12 year olds are prettenting to be gangsta because real hiphop supporters know what hiphop is. they know these 12 year olds are not a part of hiphop since they don't have a clue what it means.
real hiphop music still comes out today nas just tried to make him self the only realy rapper still making music.

I guess I can agree that there's more rap-style music starting to show up in our music culture. But I don't think that hip-hop is dead. I'm sure there's still a small amount of hip-hop out there that is keeping it alive.

True hiphop is rather entertaining, I think. Current stuff? Nah.

i love hip-hop but i have to agree the stuff that is now on radios everywhere is basically crap! i can't get the feel from it anymore now. yet there is still great unrecognized rappers and other hip-hop artist that are out there doing underground stuff that sounds great you just have to work harder to find it. also now i listen to a lot more spm since his is a more real person than many rappers are today i mean even snoop changed his ways on his new album and i tend to love his music and it was just so changed because he followed the crowd.
