On May 2008, The particle accelerator called "Large Hadron Collider" will be completed and start to function. It's expected to become the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator. The LHC is being funded and built in collaboration with over two thousand physicists from thirty-four countries as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories.
When activated, it is hoped that the collider will produce the elusive "Higgs boson" or also called God Particles. The Fundamental Particles we find in any form of mass and matter. yup you guessed it...make physical mass out of energy.
But this technology also has some safety concerns...
Rumors and theories say that the small radiation that the LHC creates is capable of creating Black Holes eek . there is no scientific proof that these black holes can grow and eventually "suck up the entire world".
The media also compares the LHC to the fictional story of Half-Life and "resonance cascade" that occured in the Black Mesa research facility called "the Black Mesa incident".
