Cocoon of D-Evolution

Hybrid Mission for Whysperwind - by Darts

Of all the mysteries of the bug type, there are only a few so mysterious as the concepts of hive mind, but also evolution, the strength of an insect community together. That is your job today, to figure out what exactly goes on inside a cocoon. Deep in the Azurite Woods exists a cycle of Burmy that are said to cocoon themselves into Wormadam or Mothim, and then cocoon themselves again after a period of time to become Burmy again. The lifetimes of these insects are long, so they are quite intelligent. You will have to befriend this pack of eternal Burmy, and live among them for a while, studying their ways through all phases of their life. Once they become Burmy again, after one life cycle with them, you should have the trust needed for them to actually cocoon YOU. Should this happen, what you go through in the cocoon, I cannot say. All I know is, once you are encased in that magical thread you had better have faith in these Wormadam by now, because unless you have faith in the magic of their cocoons, no doubt you will just suffocate inside of it. The evolution should be an adventure into itself.

Objectives:

--Gain the trust of the Burmy to be able to live with them through one complete life cycle. Observe the way they work together to overcome predators, gather food, etc.

--Somehow convince them to wrap you in one of their cocoons, and evolve into a Mothim hybrid. The things your mind and body go through in the cocoon are all your own, but it will be a lengthy and no doubt freaky process.

Rewards

--Become Mothim hybrid, varies from there.

Sylphie looked at the piece of paper in his hands, an expression of limitless joy on his countenance. His hands trembled with anticipation and sweat broke out on his brow as he read over the words on the paper. His mismatched eyes were opened wide and he seemed to have lost the ability to blink the moment he had begun to read. A large grin, from ear to ear, had formed on his face and he could be heard making small sounds of unbridled joy. “I DON’T BELIEVE IT!” he shouted after a few more moments. “My first solo mission as a member of Team Snagem.” He whispered to himself moments later, tucking the paper away in his pocket for later. He intended to put it up for another day but he knew that he would place it carefully on his dresser at home and never lose it. Hands shaking slightly, even now, he righted his bike, which had fallen onto its side when he got off in a hurry and forget to let the stand hold it up.

The Teen climbed onto the bike and pulled his helmet onto his head staring forward. “It’s time now!” he exclaimed, hitting the ignition and revving the engine. The flying modifications he’d made had worn off earlier on in the day and so it left him to only drive normally. And so, he set off from the beach near Oynx Town in the straightest line he could go in towards Azurite Woods. Sure it was off the beaten path, but who ever said one had to follow the foot path of another to reach his destination?

The bike was already low on fuel as it was, but Sylphie didn’t notice, or care. He was so excited to be on a mission by himself that nothing else mattered except for getting the mission finished and doing it successfully. For the first time since the beach, though that had been only moments before, he spoke to himself. ”And he said that I would be able to become a Mothim Hybrid if I did it right. Is it true? Will I be able to become a hybrid at last? Will it hurt, I wonder?” he said to himself, a thousand more questions running through his mind. Less than five minutes ago he was mounting his bike on the beach at Onyx Town but it now felt like it had been hours before. Such is the effect of a teenager’s excitement to accelerate the passage of time in their own mind. With his countless questions running rampant through his thoughts, he didn’t bother looking at his fuel gauge or his speed. Flying at nearly a hundred miles an hour got him to the river which marked the halfway point between Onyx and Azurite Woods within an hour and a half. Examining the crossing, he found nothing of interest to cross on and so it came to his own ingenuity.

“Let’s go Clyde.” The teen said as he tossed the Burmy’s Pokeball into the air. Clyde appeared from a bright red light that shone from within the ball and looked up at Sylphie with questioning eyes. “We’ve got a job to do buddy; you and me.” Sylphie told him with a tender smile. ”Now then, I want you to use Hidden Power on that tree over there, and try to knock it across the river and make us a bridge. Go on now, you can do it!” Sylphie encouraged. Clyde looked around for a moment, not having seen the tree yet. After a few minutes of looking around to get his bearings, Clyde found the tree in question and began to charge up his attack, a swirling orange glow surrounding him. “NOW, CLYDE! LET IT GO!” Sylphie called after a moment or two of watching. Startled somewhat, Clyde unleashed the pent of energy as a divided beam rather than the blast it would normally have been. One beam struck the ground at the trees base, blasting the roots out of the ground. The other beam shot up to the treetop, striking the very top of the timber and knocking it towards the river’s opposite bank, where it fell quickly and landed with a resounding crash.

“Awesome job Clyde!” Sylphie exclaimed happily as he lifted the Burmy from the ground on his way by and held the small and startled Bug in his arms as he drove, crossing the newly formed bridge as quickly as possible while being careful not to crash. After a short distance of driving, or so it seemed, the motorcycle sputtered to a stop. For the first time, Sylphie looked at his fuel gauge and noticed that it was sitting on empty. “Well that’s just great.” He mumbled as he climbed off his bike and threw the helmet over his shoulder, walking away as he did. The helmet landed on the handlebars and fell backwards onto the seat, where it changed direction and rolled off the bike onto the ground. It stopped with the visor facing the direction in which Sylphie had walked off, still holding Clyde in his arms.

The teen and his Pokemon were closer to Azurite Woods than Sylphie realized, though Clyde had a strange sensation deep inside of him that he was close to home. Following the path ahead of them, the two soon found themselves standing on the roadside near the forest entrance. A gate nearby told them they were finally at the forest. “Let’s go Clyde. I wanna get to the cycle soon and get our mission done. We’ll prove to them all that we’re strong enough to go on missions by ourselves.” Sylphie said as he rushed into the woods.

Darkness was falling fast and Sylphie was finding was finding himself lost and going in circles. After passing the same tree a half dozen times, the teen finally cast his gaze to the heavens to see the stars above him. “Oh, I give up! We’ll never find it in the dark.” He sighed as he sat down at the base of his tree. ”I wanted us to get there tonight but I guess it’s not gonna happen.” He said to Clyde, who was looking up at him with longing in his eyes. He longed to make Sylphie’s wish come true. “Let’s get some sleep buddy, this isn’t going to happen tonight so sleeping and getting a fresh start is our best bet for right now.” The teen said solemnly and rolled over onto his side. Placing his hands under his head like a pillow, he fell asleep rather quickly, having been kept going solely by the adrenaline that had been running through him all day.

Clyde jumped into action as soon as Sylphie started to breath rhythmically, signally that he was indeed sleeping soundly. The little Burmy hopped off into the forest, gathering things that he would need for his plan. He only hoped it would work.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Day 2~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sylphie awoke in the morning to find himself sticky and covered in leaves. As he attempted to move about, he found that his limbs were practically glued to his sides. He also found himself unable to open his mouth and speak. As he looked around frantically, he noticed that he wasn’t where he had been before, when he had fallen asleep the night before. He was surrounded by a group of Burmy, all looking at him wide eyed in wonder. He happened to notice one standing, if that’s what Burmy do, on his head as well and talking to the others.
The other Pokemon seemed to be listening easily enough and after a few minutes, he noticed their behavior changing. Instead of watching him in wonder, they seemed to begin attempting to help him move about. They picked him up as a group and carried him towards a nearby tree. As one, they thrust him upwards, where a second group seemed to catch him. Working together, they hung him from the branch, much like the other Burmy were doing, themselves. ~I get it! That Burmy who was talking to them earlier must have convinced them that I’m a Burmy too.~ Sylphie thought as he watched the Bug Pokemon. Unable to speak for the moment, that was all he could do. As he watched them, he noticed a particular Venomoth flying through the group and over towards him, thankfully unnoticed. “Hey Sylphie…chchch!” the Venomoth said happily. Sylphie’s eyes grew wide in surprise as he realized that it was Sheila. “Clyde let me out to…chchch…help you and him. He’s convinced…chchch…the other Burmy that you’re…chchch…one of them so they’ll…chchch…let you into their group. If you’ll…chchch…stay quiet around them, since…chchch…they think you’re hurt and…chchch…don’t have the srength to talk, I’ll…chchch…uncover you’re mouth for you ok…chchch.” She said calmly, trying to explain before she got spotted. She’d already been attacked once before when the group caught her too close.
Sylphie nodded quickly to let Sheila know that he’d keep his mouth shut and she quickly grabbed whatever was covering his mouth and pulled. After a few moments of pulling, Sylphie had to stifle the yell that attempted to escape his mouth, especially after seeing the piece of tree bark with dried honey on it in the Venomoth’s feet. “I’ve gotta hide for now ok…chchch… but I’ll be back soon …chchch.” Sheila said and fluttered off.
Sylphie kept watching the Pokemon below him throughout the day, seeing them work in groups to travel up to the higher parts of trees and bring down small containers made of leaves and empty acorn shells filled with honey. ~Amazing! They actually create a ladder from their own body’s to reach their hiding places.~ Sylphie thought as he watched them work. It seemed their food supply was running low since several off the hiding places yielded nothing but sad looks passed between the Bug types. Sylphie couldn’t help but feel bad for them, even knowing that they would persevere. It hurt him to see so many going hungry to let the weaker or older ones eat first.
About midday; he couldn’t be sure from his position or from the tree canopy blocking out the majority of the sunlight, he heard a loud cry from the skies. He turned as best he could to see an enormous Fearow swoop down from the skies to grab a Burmy or two for a snack. It was startling to see the Bugs reactions. Rather than fear or an instinct to survive, they gathered together, a foolhardy move had they not had a plan, and three began to charge a Hidden Power attack. A fourth hopped between the three and Tackled towards the bird Pokemon. The other three let loose with their charged attacks as a large beam that propelled the fourth into the Fearow with incredible force. The Fearow was thrown backwards, shrieking in pain from the force of the attack that struck it. Two more Burmy hopped over under it and used Protect to stop the bird from crushing a log in which several of the Bugs lived for shelter. Fearow shrieked in pain once again as its body slammed full on into the Protect barrier. A half second later, it was propelled away from the colony of Bug types by the barriers ability to reflect damage outside it. Shrieking out of annoyance this time, Fearow finally managed to begin flapping it’s wings and flew off. ~That’s…unreal!~ Sylphie thought as he watched the co-operation between the insectoid Pokemon.
As night fell, the teen watched the Pokemon climb, on their own, into the trees. Each one reached a branch of its own, and then began to shake it vigorously, causing the leaves to fall from the branch around them. As they fell, they seemed to become drawn to the nearest Burmy, latching onto them and building up into a ball of leaves. The glade in which the colony lived now looked like a Christmas paradise decorated with green ornaments. Sylphie closed his eyes, not having the strength to do much else and soon he too was sleeping soundly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Day 3~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At daybreak, Sylphie felt himself being shifted from his place in the tree. The next thing he knew, he was opening his eyes to see a Wormadam standing before him with a small container of honey held up for him. She kept motioning for him to drink from it and after a few moments, he finally caught on. With Wormadam’s help, he drank the honey from the small container. He felt some of his strength returning from just that small amount of nourishment, although it’s content was mostly sugars and starches, it was enough to get him the strength to move. Wormadam helped him to drink another one just for good measure and them she led him towards a group of other Wormadam. Since he was still disguised as a Burmy, they were leaving him to protect their home while they gathered food. Clyde, who appeared for the first time since the too had been brought to the colony’s home, was staying with him.

As the Wormadam and Mothim flew off together, Clyde looked at Sylphie and grinned the best he was able to, as if to say ‘My plan worked!’. With the little pokemon’s help, Sylphie figured out how to hop along behind him, albeit a bit slowly, and not without incident. ~This is a lot harder than they make it look…~ Sylphie thought to himself after he fell over for the eighth time. Clyde was patient with him and after both of them had explored and found no other Pokemon around them, Sylphie spoke for the first time in what felt like ages. “What did you do, Clyde?” he asked quizzically. Clyde explained as best he could, though Sylphie didn’t understand a word of it. Thankfully, Sheila fluttered in about that time and spoke up. “He said that he covered you…chchch…in honey and stuck leaves to you…chchch…so you’d look like a Burmy. Then the other Burmy…chchch…found you both while you were sleeping. Clyde…chchch…convinced them you were his friend…chchch…and you were hurt. They brought you…chchch…here and have been taking care of you…chchch…since then.” She explained, translating to the best of her ability for Sylphie. “Be patient with them and try to be helpful. Your mission should be easier that way.” She added, managing to keep her clicking mandibles from interfering with her speech for once. “I have to hide again before they come back and attack me ok. I’ll be back again tonight with some real food for you.” She said as she fluttered off into the woods once more.

Sylphie hopped along after Clyde, finding it easier to act like a Burmy the longer he remained in disguise. Hopping was definitely easier now. Together, they managed to climb a tree to its lowest branch, Sylphie having to figure out how to climb with his arms and legs glued to his sides by dried honey. He found a log nearby that la across a tree branch and ascended at a very slight incline, so he managed to hop into the tree by climbing that log, very carefully I might add. He sat there with Clyde all day, practicing whatever Clyde did, at least as far as moving, acting, reacting and eating went.

Nothing of interest happened that day other than seeing the Wormadam and Mothim return and helping to store the gathered honey. Sylphie found it rather enjoyable to play the role of a Burmy in the colony, especially when it came to being a step in the ladder that reached the hiding places of the honey, even though he was always the bottom step. He found himself liking aiding the others in hiding their bounty for some unexplainable reason. By the time they were done, night had fallen once again. With enough honey gathered to last ages for the group, the Mothim and Wormadam began to take to their sleeping places, a pair of Mothim lifting Sylphie into a nearby tree to save him the trouble of climbing. The two Bugs then flew off to their own sleeping places. With Clyde by his side, Sylphie nodded off to sleep rather quickly. He was exhausted from acting like a Bug Pokemon all day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Day 4~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When morning came, the Mothim and Wormadam woke with the rising sun to do what needed doing. Together, they began to break apart their old homes and began to explore the forest coming and going throughout the day with newer and larger logs and sticks with which to build homes. Once again, Sylphie and Clyde were left to defend the village.
In the middle of the day, while the evolved Bugs were away, gathering up the materials to build new shelters, a group of Poochyena and Mightyena happened by. It wouldn’t have been a problem if that had been all they did. Unfortunately, they also felt the need to try and wreck the already built shelters. “OH NO YOU DON’T!” Sylphie exclaimed as he dived from an overhead branch onto a Mightyena’s back, saving a shelter from being smooshed by the wolf. The Mightyena yelped in a mixture of surprise and pain and scampered off. The other’s were fended off mostly by Clyde’s Protect, though Sylphie managed a makeshift Tackle against a few of them and managed to scare them off. The rest just gave up after a while and walked off into the woods once more.
When the Mothim and Wormadam returned from their venture out into the forest, Clyde regailed the events of the day to them, making it seem as if Sylphie had done all the work as he did. He also told them that Syphie wanted to Evolve for them so he could help, but he didn’t know how they did it. The group cast a wary glance to Sylphie as one, and conversed with Clyde a while longer. Nothing that any of them said made any sense to Sylphie so he simply sat back and watched them talk to one another. After a long time of just watching, he hopped off towards the tree that he’d been sleeping in for the last few days. ~Jeeze…I can’t understand a word of their conversation. I wonder what they’re talking about?~ he thought as he went. He’d been trying to avoid thinking too much since he got here. He’d trusted Clyde when he found out that it had been his idea that got them here, and that he was taking care of getting the other Pokemon to trust him. He was soon enough sitting on the tree branch where he’d been sleeping and simply watched the other Pokemon talking for a while longer. The sun went down before they were done talking.
While a few of the Mothim and Wormadam went about finishing their work on shelters, the others simply scattered and disappeared into the woods. Sheila fluttered out of the forest while the others weren’t paying attention and spoke to Sylphie quickly, while she had the chance. “Clyde’s done it. They’re cocooning again tonight…chchch… and they’ve decided that they’ll cocoon you as well.” She said happily. ”But they said if they do…chchch…you have to leave before they do it again…chchch…or they’ll turn you back again.” She finished. Sylphie knew what that meant. By morning, his mission would most likely be complete, but he wouldn’t know until then. But it would also mean leaving this place and never returning. “Thanks Sheila. Go on and hide in the woods, I’ll find you tomorrow ok.” Sylphie whispered to the Venomoth, who nodded and fluttered off once again.
Sylphie watched as the Mothim and Wormadam took to the trees around him, though three came close by and after a quick glance around, they took to their task quickly. They fastened Sylphie to the branch above the one he was on, the same way they had the first time, with a branch and vine that Clyde had used to disguise him. Then together, the two Mothim and the Wormadam began to shake the branch Sylphie was fastened to, knocking leaves from around him and drawing them close. They continued to shake the branch until a huge number of leaves were drawn close, then they released the branch and flew in circles around Sylphie for a few moments. The strange magics about them attracted the leaves to the human teen and when they were close enough to cocoon him, the Bugs flew away quickly. In a flash of green, Sylphie found himself surrounded by darkness.
He heard the Mothim and Wormadam cocooning themselves, leaving the last of the Bugs in their evolutionary state for the night. Closing his eyes, Sylphie prayed for the best from this occurrence, drifting into sleep shortly afterwards. Strange dreams invaded his thoughts for quite some time, though a sudden blinding pain awoke him from his slumber. “AAAGGGHHH!” he screamed as a burning, white hot pain shot through his body. His forehead felt like it was on fire, his back bearing a searing pain that felt as if someone had cut him open with a branding iron. “AAAA-AAAAGGGGHHH-AAAAAHHH!” the blonde haired teen screamed once again, his body morphing. He could feel it. Something was happening to him, something painful. It felt like his face was melting all of a sudden, and his back felt like it was beginning to bubble and blister like boiling water. Suddenly, his throat felt like it was completely shut, as if it had simply closed up, and he couldn’t scream any more. After what felt like days of unbearable pain to him, he finally blacked out.
In his mind, he wasn’t a human anymore. He dreamed that he was a Burmy, not just any Burmy mind you, but Clyde. As he watched himself in the dream, he hopped along through a forest, unhindered in his path. Though he happened upon a Growlithe in his path at one point, he attempted to go around it. Every path he tried to take in order to go around the Pokemon simply led him back to where the Growlithe waited. His Pokemon self in his dream, blocked by the Growlithe, was only the representation of what he felt in reality. As he was, he could go no farther, he couldn’t be of use. He felt that he couldn’t be strong as he was. In his dream, his body glowed brightly, and Growlithe faltered for a brief moment. Sylphie watched as the Pokemon that he had become in his dream, evolved into a Mothim. Still he would be at a disadvantage, but this gave him the path to greater strength. He had greater power to achieve now and he could use it to be useful to his friends. In his dream, the now Mothim he had become flew over Gorwlithe’s head and he flew into the sky to join the other Pokemon that represented the members of Team Snagem that he knew. After that, everything went black once again.
While he was out cold, his body morphed and changed. He seemed to become a maliable, almost liquid form. He would have prayed to pass out or die, whichever came first for him, had he been awake. A strange tendril of liquid-like flesh snaked its way upward from the teen’s forehead, fanning out towards its end. A second tendril soon began to grow from a similar place on the opposite side of the boys forehead and slowly crept upwards to the same length as the other and then it too fanned out. Sylphie’s shirt soon ripped from the back, and it fell off of his slender form, leaving him bare-chested within the strange cocoon. From the boy’s back, four small blisters soon formed. And from that point nothing happened for a while. The boy shifted from time to time, not noticing in his sleep that the leafy cocoon around him had seemingly melted into a mass of strange green threads and fibers. After a long while, several hours actually, the odd little blisters on his back began to bubble and swell, growing into boils and soon into large tendrils of the strange liquid-like flesh that grew and lengthened. As the four tendrils of flesh reached the appropriate length, they fanned out and became solid once more. Four wings and a pair of antennae had formed while he slept.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Day 5~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Opening his eyes, Sylphie felt different…somehow. Something was different about him. He knew it couldn’t be anything too big, or so he thought. He couldn’t recall what had happened over the last few days, but he did happen to remember not being able to see anything the night before. A Mothim sat beside him, watching him carefully. Sylphie stretched out his arms and legs, feeling as if they were stiff as a board for some reason. “WAIT!” he exclaimed after a moment or two, his voice more insectoid than he remembered it being. It held a kind of buzzing undertone now. “I remember what happened now…” he said calmly as he looked around him. His antennae blew softly backwards as the wind breezed over him. His wings shifted comfortably to allow the flow of air to comfortably go around him.

Antenna? Wings? “Since when do I have Antennae and Wings?” he asked himself, slightly scared, and yet intrigued and amused at the same time. He felt the antennae on his head gently, careful not to do anything that might hurt. He reached around to his back and felt for the wings there, tracing his fingers up their length as far as he could, managing to get the tips close enough to his shoulders to see the blue on there tips. Mothim aren’t supposed to have blue on their wings are they? “Whatever…” Sylphie muttered as he hopped down from the tree branch he was sitting on.

“Are you ready to go home, Sylphie?” Mothim asked as he flew down and landed on Sylphie’s shoulder. “Do I know you? And how are you speaking human?” Sylphie asked the Mothim. “heeheehee…It’s me, Clyde, silly!” Clyde giggled before he answered Sylphie’s second question. “I’m not speaking Human silly, you’re still speaking human but you understand me now.” He added as he hopped up and flew around Sylphie’s head a time or two. “I guess I’m ready to go. They said I had to leave if they cocooned me last night right?” Sylphie asked, wanting to verify that that was true. “Uh-huh. That’s right.” Clyde responded. “Then let’s head back. I need to see about getting gas for my bike though.” Sylphie said calmly as he began to walk in the direction he remembered leaving his bike from. Clyde simply flew along behind him.

Sheila happened to be nearby and heard Sylphie talking. ”Sylphie! Sylphie!” She shouted excitedly. “I got your bike back…chchch…some gas and new goggles for you!” she exclaimed happily as she flew around a group of trees. “AAAHH!” she screamed as she saw the newly hybridized teenager. “You look weird now…” she said; almost as if it was something that you’d hear on a regular basis from a good friend. Sylphie recalled the Venomoth and newly evolved Mothim to their Pokeballs and hopped on his motorcycle. Pulling on the new goggles that Sheila had gotten for him during the last few days, he sped off back towards Onyx Town, wondering along the way why he had the sudden urge to go looking for honey. He didn’t even think that the other Snagems might not recognize him now, especially with antennae, wings and orange and blue streaks in his blonde hair. He didn’t know about the streaks being there yet though.

Roughly four hours of riding later, Sylphie found himself back on the beach where he had left from. Even though it was mid day, he cut off his bike, climbed off of it and lay on the soft sand, drifting off into a light slumber shortly afterwards. Nothing mentally strange had happened to him so far other than the desire to hunt for honey. Only time would tell what had truly happened to him. He did, however, feel that he never would have accomplished his mission had it not been for Clyde’s help.

Objectives: 1) Gain the trust of the Burmy to be able to live with them through one complete life cycle. Observe the way they work together to overcome predators, gather food, etc. - Complete
2) Somehow convince them to wrap you in one of their cocoons, and evolve into a Mothim hybrid. – Complete
Pokemon Used: Clyde
Pokemon Battled: None in true battle. Fearow, Poochyena x3, Mightyena x2
Summary: Sylphie went to Azurite Woods with Clyde, his Burmy and, thanks to Clyde’s ingenuity, he managed to get into the colony of Burmy. Taking nearly a week, Sylphie managed to become a part ofa colony, while in disguise as a Burmy. He became a part of the colony, living with the Burmy and watching them cocoon themselves and evolve in order to gather food and repair their shelters, then de-evolving by cocooning again. The cocooning process to return wasn’t witnessed by the teen, as Clyde managed to convince the Mothim and Wormadam to cocoon Sylphie the last night he was there, in exchange for him leaving in the morning. Sylphie, both fortunately and unfortunately, slept through the majority of the evolution process, having passed out from the unbearable pain of his body preparing for the process. When morning came, he discovered that not only was he a Hybrid now, but that his Burmy had evolved through the cocooning process into a Mothim as well. He returned to the beach outside of Onyx Town afterwards and went to sleep on the beach.

Bug Elemental Master Missions STAGE 1

The Ways of a Bug

So, you’ve decided to take on the way of the Bug, eh? It will not be an easy path, and will probably filled with more creepy and crawly things then you can imagine at the moment. But in any case, like working with any Element, this is going to take some dedication. This mission should allow you to… familiarize yourself with your element.

There is an old man who lives in Ilex Forest who claims to be a bug himself. He lives, eats, sleeps, drinks, and does everything with his Bug Pokemon, in his hut in the deepest part of the forest. What you are to do is go and learn everything you can from him. This guy has advanced techniques for taking care of a bug Pokemon that can be found no where else. He even claims to have developed a Hive Mind with one of his Bug Pokemon. A sense so intuitive, that they can know what the other is thinking. His ways are… peculiar though. He literally dresses and acts like a bug at times, and no doubt so will you have to to gain this skill. A Hive Mind is difficult to develop with a Bug Pokemon, so I don’t expect you to see the first time or even the second. No doubt, it’s a burden as well. This Pokemon is to know your every thought and idea at the same time you do. Be sure it’s what you want.

Objective
---Meet the Hermit and learn his Hive Mind technique.

Opposition
---None.

Pokemon
---You might get a Pokemon Egg if the story is GOOD.

Rewards
---Undisclosed for now.

Hex, who had finally made a life decision regarding his memory, was sitting on the couch in HQ. Falcon was sitting in front of him as he read over the paper in his hands. It was a mission profile from the way he was mumbling to himself. A corner of the paper turned down as he neared the bottom of it and anyone looking would probably see the words "Bug Elemental..." written in large bold letters. He didn't give them the chance to read more of it though as he finished reading it, folded it up o a small square and ripped it into as many pieces as possible. On his way out of the HQ, he threw the scraps of paper into a nearby trash can.

As he made it out of HQ, he leapt as high into the air as he could without the use of leg muscles to shove with. As he reached a desirable height, he began hovering. Not much of anything new to him considering how long he had been a hybrid. He took off towards Ilex Forest in Johto with Falcon right there beside him. It took a while but the two made it to the Johto region's most famous forest. The trip had been uneventful so Hex landed without much of a problem as far as worrying about boredom. Falcon drifted over next to him and the two set off into the depths of the woods to try and locate the strange hermit Hex needed to find. A Ghost wouldn't help him on this mission so Hex returned Falcon to her Pokeball and called out Sparrow in her place. "Come on Sparrow. You're the closest to a friend I have among my Pokemon so you and I are doing this mission together." he told the Ariados, who chittered a response. "Ados! Ariados ari!". "I am not!" Hex countered. "Dos ariados ari!" Sparrow tried again. "Stop saying that! I am not antisocial" Hex defended, though the defeated look in his eyes told Sparrow that he had won and so the spider dropped the subject.

The hybrid boy and his spider moved through the forest as if they had lived there their whole lives. Sparrow had been born here as a Spinarak though so his instincts about direction were rather keen here. That still didn't help the two of them find the Bug Hermit as Hex had decided to call him. “So, where do you think we might find this guy?” Hex asked Sparrow. “Ari ari.” The spider said calmly with what could be construed as a shrug. “I should’ve figured as much.” Hex said as he followed after the Ariados.

“Hahahahaha!” came a loud laugh from somewhere in the woods. The only thing Hex and Sparrow could see between the two of them though was a few bug types scattered here and there. A Pineco watched as they passed its tree. A Beedrill lunged at them as they got too close to it’s nest. Both avoided the attack fairly well as they went by but they couldn’t dodge the incoming body slam of an overly friendly Heracross. Hex was knocked to the ground before he realized it but since the stag beetle hadn’t used a real attack, Wonder Guard wasn’t doing him any good. “Can’t…breath…’ he groaned as he attempted to squeeze out from under the Bug. Sparrow just watched. He could tell the Heracross didn’t mean any harm but it was still funny to see his trainer being squished by it. Finally, Hex squeezed free of the Heracross’s mass and after he got to his normal height, he cast a wary glance to the Bug. Heracross just stood there and looked at the trainer for a few moments before it spoke. “Hera hera heracross.” It said joyfully. “Uh…thanks…I think.” Hex said to the Bug’s comment.

Heraross shifted its weight to see Sparrow and waved happily to him. Sparrow waved back. “Hey…Heracross?” Hex started. The Bug type looked at him curiously for a moment before deciding it was ok to listen. “I’m looking for a weird old man that lives here in these woods. Could you possibly show me where I might find him?” the hybrid asked. Heracross looked like it was considering it for a moment and then nodded. “Cross!” it said cheerfully. A Rather bright and cheerful pokemon this Bug, it was the exact opposite of Hex’s own personality. Heracross flew through the trees as if they weren’t even there. It wasn’t even stopping like Heracross normally did to eat the sap from the trees it passed. It seemed to have a distracted, purposeful existence.

As Hex followed after the Heracross, he noticed that Sparrow was getting tired. He did have several more leg than any human had to operate as opposed to Hex having none. “Hey Sparrow, come here!” the hybrid called to the spider. “Ari?” Sparrow asked as he got close. “Hop on my back and wrap your legs around me like backpack straps.” Hex told the Ariados. Sparrow was slightly confused by that but did as he was told. Once he was secure, Hex spend up, keeping up with the Heracross that was leading the way fairly well.

The beetles stopped before too long and Hex wondered if they had found their destination. Looking around, he saw nothing but woods, woods and more woods. “Ugh, you stupid Bug! You got us more lost than we were when we started!” Hex griped as he drifted down to the floor of the forest. Looking around once more, he attempted to get his bearings. He got the feeling he was being watched, but dismissed it quickly, especially considering he was in a forest full of Pokemon and he’d just left a Heracross in the trees, who was probably glaring daggers at him. The hybrid turned to his left to strated walking when a face suddenly fell from the trees in a cloud of falling leaves. “BOO!” came the shout as the mouth opened to reveal several missing teeth. “AGH!” Hex shouted in surprise as he jumped back and produced three bolts from within his lft sleeve, holding thtem at the ready in his right hand. “Don’t do that!” the man exclaimed as he tried to slow his heart rate down. It took a moment to realize that the face before him had been that of an old man, one who seemed to be hanging upside down from a tree branch by his feet.

“Uh…” the man began as he watched the older male release his foothold on the tree and drop to the ground as if he had been doing it since childhood. “Ohohoho.” The old man laughed, his voice scratchy bug confident in nature. “I see Hercules brought you here. I suppose you asked him to help you find the old man here in the woods eh?” he asked Hex calmly, taking in the boys odd appearance as he waited for a response. “Uh…yeah I did.” Hex replied. “Then I suppose you came to me for one of two things. Either you want to learn my methods of caring for Bug Pokemon…or you seek to develop a Hive Mind with your Bug Pokemon as I have.” The old man said calmly. He had far too man people come to him for one of the two. Most of them simply sought to care for their Bugs in the old man’s unique ways. “Yeah…I came here hoping you could teach me the Hive mind technique.” Hex said, surprised to see the look of shock on the old man’s face when he had registered what the hybrid said. “You mean…that you actually want to learn my Hive Mind?” he asked incredulously. “Yes I do. Why? Is that a problem?” Hex asked, worried that his mission would be an utter failure. “Absolutely not. It’s just…you’re the first in a long while that’s wanted to do that.” The old man explained his reaction to Hex, which alleviated the man’s worries. “If you’re certain, follow me back to my home and I’ll see what I can do to help you.” The old man told Hex and motioned to the hybrid to follow him as he dashed off into the shadows of the forest. Hex took chase once again, phasing himself and Sparrow through any trees in the way until he caught up to the Bug Hermit.

“So…do you have a name old guy?” Hex asked as he reached the man’s side. “If I have one, You’d best ask my Pokemon. I discarded my birth name many years ago.” The old man said as he glanced to Hex. “What about you young man?” he asked. “I’m known as Hex. I never got a birth name so I made my own.” The hybrid replied as he chased after the old man. “Can I just call you Hermit since Master has already been taken in my life?” the man asked the old guy. “If you like, that is fine by me.” Hermit replied. Neither had slowed down yet and Hex was beginning to wonder where this old man was getting his energy from when he heard it, Hermit’s raspy voice saying, “Here we are.” and slowing to a stop in front of him. Hex followed suit and stopped next to Hermit, looking upon the strangest house he had ever seen. It looked like a rickety old shack with more plants growing on it than woods making it.

The house was covered in thorny vines and ivies as well as countless mushrooms growing over it. Out of the top of the small hut grew a massive red and white mushroom that blocked out the weather and protected the small structure from nature’s wrath from the sky. “Wow!” was all that Hex could muster as he gazed up at the mushroom. “I see you like my home Hex.” Hermit said jovially as he walked towards the place. As Hex snapped out of his state of awe, he realized that the shack was built against the trunk of an enormous tree. “Um…is this place even big enough for us both?” Hex asked as he followed Hermit inside. “Oh…I think it is, my boy.” Hermit replied with a barely concealed chuckle as he lit a small candle on a nearby table. That was all the light he offered and all the light that was needed to illuminate the place. Looking around him in the faint light, Hex saw that the outside shack was merely an entrance. Hermit’s home was built between the massive root system of the tree above them. All around him were Bug Pokemon of various sizes, shapes, and species. Off to one side were a Nincada, Paras and Parasect enjoying the nutrients of some of the trees Hair Roots. Across from him, a Butterfree and Beedrill tended to a nest of their young, several eggs, a Caterpie and Weedle or two as well as a Metapod and Kakuna.. On his other side were a Ninjask and Ledian seemingly having a conversation. “This…is amazing!” Hex stammered out as he fegained his composure.

“My little home away from civilization.” Hermit said joyously as he walked over to the Butterfree and Beedrill. “How are the little ones doing Byron?” he asked. Not a word was spoken between them but Hermit suddenly burst out with an excited statement. “Excellent! Do you mind if this young man watches?” he asked, once again not a word was spoken but Hermit motioned Hex over moments later. “My Beedrill says that one of his eggs is soon to hatch and that you may watch if you like.” Hermit supplied for Hex, the boy’s confused face telling the old man he didn’t understand. “You serious?” Hex asked. “Quite.” Hermit replied firmly. Hex watched the nest for a few moments for any change, and soon he saw one of the eggs begin to move, bouncing and rolling madly for a moment. Beedrill simply kept the egg in the nest until it stopped moving around and a crack appeared in it. “uh…it’s…hatching!” Hex said excitedly as the crack grew larger. Suddenly, it exploded, sending bits of shell flying everywhere and revealing a small and rather shy looking Weedle where the egg had been moments before. Hex and Hermit backed away so that Beedrill could care for it’s newborn and spoke to one another.

“Now then, young man. You said that you wanted to learn my Hive Mind technique correct?” Hermit asked. “Yes! More than anything!” Hex answer quickly, his voice exuberant and more energetic than usual. “Very well, but you must chose a single Bug type in order to continue. Chose wisely for you only get one chance while you are here with me.” Hermit told the hybrid, who looked to the Ariados who was still clinging to his back. “I chose Sparrow. My Ariados. I’ve had him since he was a Spinarak and he was the first Bug Pokemon I ever caught.” Hex told Hermit. Hermit grinned at that. “You must already have a strong bond to chose your Ariados so quickly. You may well be the first to actually accomplish this feat besides myself.” The old man said cheerfully. “For the Hive Mind to work, you must first learn to function as a team, learn to do what each other needs of you without speaking at all. You must let your instincts and intuition guide you in a difficult task and learn to communicate without words in order to function as one unit in two parts.” Hermit explained. “Ok. How do we do that?” Hex asked. “I have an orchard near here where I grow Apricots. Bugs that have gone rogue from their trainers as well as ones who have simply decided that it is theirs for the taking guard the orchard. You must go there and together with your Pokemon, you must bring me back one of each kind, while battling the rogue Bugs.” Hermit told Hex. I will have Butterfree show you the way.”

Ten minutes later, Hex stood on the edge of a massive orchard of Apricot trees, buzzing with life and surrounded by Bugs. “Ok, Sparrow. Let’s go do this ok.” The hybrid said to the spider by his side, which nodded and chittered in agreement. Together, they dashed into the orchard and were immediately swarmed with Bugs. Hex jumped around through the lot of them as Sparrow used Spider Web to ensnare some of the Bugs. Hovering in mid air, Hex turned and threw five bolts into the swarm of Pokemon, striking four of them that were on Sparrow’s tail as the spider dashed deeper into the orchard. With only a Scyther, Ledyba and Beedrill left to chase Sparrow, Hex drifted over to one of the trees and looked through the branches for a moment. ~There it is!~ he thought as he plunged his hand into the mass of leaves and branches, drawing it back out seconds later with a White Apricot in it.

Casting a glance to where Sparrow was still keeping the remaining bugs distracted, Hex headed to another tree. Looking through the thick leaves and branches of the tree, he found what he was looking for. This time he had to bury himself waist deep in the trees branches to reach his target. ~Ungh…come…on…you~ Hex thought in his mind as he managed to get a light grip on the Red Apricot in the tree. Pulling was proving useless, so after a few moments of struggling, he planted his feet on the leaves and hoped there was a branch under them as he pushed with his legs and pulled with his arms. He managed to get enough force working for him that the Apricot’s stem finally broke and he went tumbling out of the tree, fruit in hand. Lying on his back on the ground, he looked over to Sparrow, who was hurrying towards him. Somehow, Hex knew he had come to help him get that Red Apricot. Holding it up for the Ariados to see, he shouted. ”I got it Sparrow. I’ll go to the next tree if you can keep the bugs off me for a moment.” Sparrow heard the hybrid’s call that he was good for the moment and veered off to the left, leading the three Bugs on his tail to a spot where he would be able to trap them.

Hex headed for the very next tree with a different Apricot in it. Peeking through the branches left him to find nothing. This tree seemed empty so he moved on to the next one, peeking into it to find it bare as well. None of these trees were bearing fruit so Hex drifted to yet another colored Apricot. As he looked through the branches, he spotted a Blue Apricot hanging from its branch in the tree and it seemed huge. Reaching into the mass of leaves and branches with both hands, he grabbed the massive fruit and tugged. He grew somewhat worried when the fruit tugged back. “I don’t think that’s a good thing?” he said as he tugged harder, determined to pull whatever it was out of the way. Tugging harder, he finally pulled it loose and it flew over his head to land on the ground behind him. “Pine!” came the startled cry, right before Hex heard a whirring sound like something spinning like a drill bit. Turning to look, he found himself coming face to body with a Pineco using Rapid Spin. Hex ducked under the Bug type’s Normal type attack and kicked the bagworm Pokemon in the side, sending it flying way from him. Plunging his hand back into the tree, he felt around for a moment and when he felt something, he once again pulled. This time whatever it was, yielded willingly to his grip and came loose. Removing his arm from the trees innards, he found a Black Apricot in his hand. Stashing it with the other two, he heard something in his mind that worried him. Damn, they’re waking up! I can’t take them all alone! came Sparrow’s voice, though Hex couldn’t see him anywhere around him.

Flying up into the sky, the hybrid looked around, at last spotting Sparrow. The Spider had a dozen Bugs closing in on him and fast. “Sparrow! Hold on!” Hex shouted as he dived down and landed on the ground between his friend and his attackers. A Dozen different attacks flew from more directions than Hex cared to count at him and he braced himself for what he knew was to come. A huge explosion rocked the forest, scaring a flock of Pidgey from their roost nearby. As the smoke cleared, Hex still stood, battered and bruised from the look of it, but unharmed other than that. A shimmering aura around him faded after a few moments and he launched himself forward, throwing attacks like crazy. He kicked a Scyther in the chest, knocking it back, punched a Ledian in the chin, sending it skyrocketing. He ducked under a Pinsers Guillotine attack and rolled backwards, slamming his feet into the Stag Beetle Pokemon’s stomach, flipping it over him and off into the woods. Spinning around a Beedrill’s Poison Jab attack, he chopped it in the back of the neck, knocking it out cold on the spot. Dodging a Comet Punch from another Ledian, he kneed it in the face, sending it sprawling backwards before he grabbed it’s arms, all of them, and spun it around him, then sent it flying into the underbrush. When a Scizor approached him, he launched a high speed kick into the Steel/Bug’s chest to try and stun it. It worked, for about five seconds. When the Pokemon countered his attack with an X-Scissor attack, he phased through the attacker and slam kicked it in the back of the head, knocking it unconscious for a while. Three Pineco and a Forrestress were the hybrid’s next opponents but they were rather easy to beat. The pineco were using, Nature Power, Spike and Toxic Spikes to try and pin him down while Forretress used Explosion. Managing to dodge most of the poisonous spikes, he was struck a time or two by the other ones and the leaves thrown around by Nature Power. In all of it though, he managed to make it over to Forretress, who he picked up, with quite a bit of effort on his part and threw it at the Pineco. Forretress exploded before the Pineco could escape and blew all four of them off into the distance.

Hex sat back and rested after that. “Jeeze! That was a workout.” The hybrid said as he picked a few of the Pineco’s spikes out of his arms and legs. ”How’d you know that they were awake and attacking me again?” Sparrow asked as he walked over to his trainer. “I heard you say they were waking up and that you couldn’t handle them all alone.” Hex explained. ”I never said that. I was thinking it when I noticed them gaining on me, though.” the Spider said as Hex stood up. “Either way, we need to get a Blue Apricot and a Green Apricot for Hermit then go back before the Bugs return. “ the hybrid said as he stood up. ”okay then. I’ll go…” “Get the Blue Apricot if I’ll go get the green on, right?” Hex finished Sparrow’s thought for him. ”Yeah! How’d you know?” the Spider asked. “I had a feeling.” Hex said before he lead the way back to the grove of trees. He stayed on the left side while Sparrow took the right, having noticed the way the trees were growing by color.

After a little bit of looking, Hex found the Green Spricot and reached through the trees leaves and branches. He grabbed it firmly and tugged on it. Nothing. “Let’s try that again.” He said as he tugged once more. Still nothing. Suddenly, he had an idea, one that had just jumped into his head unbidden. Gripping the Apricot lightly, he twisted it carefully and after about five twists, he gave it a gentle tug and the stem popped off the fruit. “I…” hex started to say as he turned around and stuck the fruit in his bag.”Got yours and you’re ready to go if I am?” Sparrow offered as he walked up to Hex, rolling the Blue Apricot from off his back onto the ground. “Yeah. How’d you know I was gonna say that?” Hex asked as he picked up the fruit and stuck it in his bag. ”Ii had feeling. What can I say? Sparrow countered. As Hex stood up and looked around, he heard buzzing. ”Damn! They’re coming back already!?” he griped. Looking down, he noticed Sparrow was on the move. He thought he knew what the spider was doing already, and he knew that’s what it was when he felt Sparrow’s legs lock across his chest from the back. “…” Hex started to say something but Sparrow cut him off. ”I know. Hold on tight.” he Spider said calmly. More than a little weirded out by this, Hex just jumped into the air and flew back towards the tree where Hermit lived. Once he arrived, he looked around to find the hermit missing.

“Hey Hermit! Where are you!?” Hex called as Sparrow jumped down from his back and went inside. Hex had been about to do that. As he walked inside, he started to check the rooms that he hadn’t seen yet. He started to check the first room as Sparrow walked out of it, ”He’s not here. I’ve looked everywhere.” he said as he saw Hex. “Did you check…” Hex started.”Already looked there.” Sparrow stopped him. “ok, how about…””There too.” Sparrow interrupted again. “Well I guess he’s not here is he?” ”Doesn’t look it.” Sparrow said as he walked over to the middle of the room.

“Hahahaha!” came the old man’s cackle of a laugh. Moment’s later, he was hanging upside down from the ceiling. “What do I have left to teach you? Honestly?” he asked. Hex looked at him like he was stupid as he responded. “The Hive mind technique…” he said plainly, as if it should have been obvious. Hermit dropped to his feet on the floor and spoke calmly. “My boy, you’ve already begun to develop it. You’re little conversation just proved it. You were inside each other’s heads the whole time, how do you think your Ariados answered your questions before you asked, and why do you think you knew I wasn’t here after the first two questions you asked him. He knew your questions as fast as you thought them and you knew his answers just as fast as they were there.” Hermit explained. “Honestly boy, think about it.” He told Hex.

The hybrid did stop for a moment and give it some thought. Sparrow had been surprisingly apt at remembering some of his plans they’d pulled off together since the bugs had attacked him. And that Spider could never remember any of them, even riding like a backpack so they could move faster and that one he’d done as soon as he heard the Bugs coming back. And when they’d first arrived and started looking for Hermit, Sparrow had done what he was about to as fast as he thought about doing it, and he knew instinctively that Hermit wasn’t in sight after attempting to ask two questions…which Sparrow had answered before he ever even got them out. “I think you’re right.” The boy said as he really thought about it for once.

“I have one final test for you to strengthen the newborn bond between you. You must fight one another and be able to know every move each other plans as fast as they do and be able to counter it.” Hermit said as he led the two outside. He led them to a small clearing just outside of his home and faced the two. “Here is where you will spar. Hybrid! You will only use your natural physical abilities to battle. Ariados! You will use nothing short of lethal force! This battle is meant to strengthen your bond and life or death is the one thing that can set in stone a beginning bond. It is also the only thing that can set in motion the strengthening of that same bond.” Hermit ordered sternly, explaining the reasons behind these tactics.

Hex and Sparrow both nodded calmly to Hermit, then to each other to acknowledge that they refused to do more or less than they were ordered to do. Hermit moved out of their way. And spoke once more. “You will not speak while you are fighting and you will] know each others thoughts by the time you are done here.” He said as he raised a stick into the air. “Begin!” he shouted as he dropped the stick.

Hex launched forwards and kicked at Sparrow, who just barely dodged and returned a Poison Jab to Hex, who shifted his position just before contact so that the attack just barely brushed his clothes. As the purple glow faded from Sparrow’s leg, Hex went to grab it. Sparrow noticed Hex’s movement and moved his leg just out of the hybrid’s reach, causing him to fall forwards. The hybrid caught himself on his hands and flipped over onto his feet again, turning to face Sparrow again, just in time to see a Sludge Bomb flying at his face. He ducked down and lashed out at the spider’s legs with a sweep kick, attempting to knock him to the ground. Sparrow read Hex’s movements again and jumped over his sweep, blasting a Signal Beam at the hybrid from midair. Hex saw the attack coming and rolled over and out of the way, watching the dual toned beam blast the ground. He jumped up and attempted to slam his fist into Sparrow’s chin, coming within inches of doing so when the Ariados used a Sucker Punch to avoid the attack and come in for one of his own. Sensing the incoming attack, Hex flipped, I midair, and slammed a hammer kick into the oncoming attack. Both of them were blasted away by the force of the colliding moves. Both stood again, shakily, and stared the other down from where they stood. At the same time, they both collapsed. Right before he blacked out, Hex heard ”I’m sorry Hex. I had to!” drifting through his mind. Sparrow heard ~I’m sorry Sparrow. My friend. I wish there had been another way.~ right before eh too lost conciousness.
~~~~~~The Next Day~~~~~
“Gack!” Hex shouted as he sat bolt upright in bed in a room with white walls trimmed in red. “Where am I!?” he shouted in alarm. ~It’s okay Hex. I’m in the front with the Hermit and his Heracross.~ floated into the man’s mind. It took him a moment to remember the battle he and Sparrow had had and their whole reason for coming here in the first place. “I guess we did it didn’t we buddy?” he said aloud. ~Yeah, we did do it Hex. And I couldn’t be happier. When you chose to do this with me, you proved how much you trusted me.~ Sparrow thought back to him. “Where am I?” Hex asked, he preferred speaking and letting Sparrow think back, it was easier on him to get used to it for the moment. ~We’re in the Pokemon Center in Azalea Town. The old man and his Heracross brought you here after you passed out. They treated me before we left so I could walk with them.~ Sparrow responded in his mind. ~ Walk out of the room you’re in and turn left. Follow that hallway and you’ll see us out here in no time at all. Hex obeyed and climbed out of bed, standing and stretching his sore muscles, a thought running through his mind as he did so. ~ EW! Keep those thoughts to yourself! I don’t wanna know how special that guys massages were ok.~ Sparrow shouted in his mind. “We need to practice keeping certain thoughts personal don’t we?” Hex asked as he walked down the hall towards the front room. ~Yeah. We do.~ Sparrow replied. About that time, Hex walked out of the hallway and arrived in the Main Room of the Pokemon Center. Over at the counter was the old man talking to Nurse Joy and his Heracross and Sparrow were chatting away as if nothing was unusual. “YO! Hermit!” Hex called as he walked over.
Hermit turned to look at Hex when he heard his voice. “Young man, you were remarkable. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone develop so quickly. It took me years to develop a bond that strong with Heracross.” The old guy said excitedly. Hex looked sheepish for a few moments. “Well…I’ve had Sparrow for like 7 or 8 years, since way back when he was a newly hatched Spinarak. He’s getting on in years but he’s still my most trusted Pokemon.” Hex said with a grin. Sparrow climbed up Hex’s back and smacked hi in the back of the head, chittering something to him. Hermit didn’t need to know what the spider was thinking to get the gist of what the Pokemon said. “Well, that’s probably the cause of your quick development of the Hive Mind. You were fairly close to that point already, you just needed a reason to push it the rest of the way.” Hermit responded. “Well. Young man, since you’ve learned the ways I had to teach you, you’re going back to your family now I suppose?” he asked. Hex sighed at that. “If I had to family to go back to, yeah.” Hex said dejectedly. ~What are you talking about? You’ve got a family, you just ignore them too much! Snag’em has become your family genious!~ Sparrow thought, mentally berating Hex for his oversight. Hex thought about that for a moment before he spoke. “You know what? You’re right, Sparrow!” he said happily. “Yeah Hermit. I am going back to my family now.” He said. “Thanks for all your help and I really hope we meet again someday.” The hybrid said as he returned Sparrow to his Pokeball and dashed out into the open, leaped into the air and flew back to HQ.
And hour and a half later, Hex was landing outside of HQ. He walked inside, went to his room and quickly typed up a Mission Report. Walking to Blizzard’s Office, he laid the Mission Report on the Articuno hybrid’s desk and left.
~~~`Mission Accomplished~~~
Objectives
Meet the Hermit and Learn his Hive Mind technique. – Accomplished

Overview
After finding his way to the Ilex Forest in Johto, Hex began his search for the Hermit. After hours of searching and finding nothing, he finally met up with a Heracross, that he presumed to be wild. After questioning the Bug, he managed to get it to lead him to the Hermit. After a bit of coercion Hex got the Hermit to agree to teach him the Hive Mind. He performed what he believed was an unimportant task that the Hermit had given him, only to find that it was part of the hermit’s training. He fought his Araidos in a match in which the Pokemon was ordered by the Hermit to use lethal force and nothing less. Both were knocked unconscious in the fight, but when Hex awakened, he discovered that He and his Ariados shared their thoughts freely. He then thanked the Hermit for his help and returned to HQ.
