Just curious if the market has had major inflations like this in recent history? I've only been around for 2 months so I have limited exposure/experience. Alot of the items I sell has risen 3-5k on average for the price. The quantities are becoming extremely limited which is something I'm not use to for alot of these items. My activity has slowed down because i'm wary of a sudden drop in price as people decide to sell items back.
Any thoughts on the cause of this recent phenomena in the market place? I've seen items go up but never so many items at once at this scale. Any of you older member's input would greatly be appreciated smile .
Just a side note I'm not interested in a generic supply/demand explanation. I'm curious about the sheer amount of items that have drastically increased in price/decreased in supply almost simulataneously.

Which items are you referring to, specifically? I haven't been around that long either, but I've noticed that prices rise and fall fairly cyclically each month for things like monthly collectibles and other non-storebought items. You just have to wait for a trough and buy then. It's always a gamble though.

Maybe people are just hoarding things right now. There may be plenty of them out there, but people just aren't willing to sell them for one reason or another.

If you are talking about any collectibles, then yes it is normal. Depending on popularity collectibles can rise between 100 to 1000 a day once able to open. The increase slowly goes down as time goes on.
Also if you are taking about ink or bugs or anything related to ink, that is because of the new tattoo shop. Sooner or later they will go back down because everyone will have all the tattoos.
Also if you are talking about any event item, those slightly increase. Those also depend on popularity but, I haven't seen too many rise fast.
Also as someone has said people will hoard items just to raise the price, then sell them back and as they get into the market again the prices will go back to normal. Example, One user buying a ton of one blue box item like Nitemare Headband making a major increase in price due to demand and then once the price hits peek sells them back at a slightly lower price and gain a ton of gold.

I don't know really what we're talking about but like I always sell my items for 5k over average price according to tektek.org and people always buy them in like 5-15 minutes...
