Round 2 - Day 2 - Roll 2: General Grid
Bronze Illiandinth 15/16 hp
Held saves: 0

2. Your dragon swoops down to flame a writhing silvery Thread, but your riding straps are just a little bit loose. The sudden fear of feeling yourself lift just a bit higher in the straps than you like is terrifying as you fear you might slide off. Furthermore, when your dragon swoops back up to return to formation, you're forcefully returned to your seat! You're able to tighten the leg strap with shaky hands, and were never at risk of actually falling off, but it's not an experience you want to feel again. Your tailbone is going to object for a few days. -1 HP Rider Damage.

------

The sense of being in free fall was not one that C'sar gladly would replicate. However, the swiftly following pain from smacking back into place was nearly as discomforting. Letting out a curse under his breath, the Bronzerider tightened his straps rapidly, smothering his frustration. There was nothing to be gained by letting that leak to Illiandinth, after all. Especially when Illiandinth was sending his mother a sense of smug satisfaction. Of course he was doing well! Was it not in his nature to excel? But ah, the Bronze did enjoy being noticed.

It still went on smoothly, as if the encouragement had made Dokkaeth a little more cautious and better at handling the thread as they made their way through the skies. To the left she blew fire and then to the right as A’te grinned at their on going success.

Day 2 / Round 2 / Roll 3
Brown Aleyath: 9/14 HP
Held saves: 0

O'len quickly pointed out his problem to the healers—a decently debilitating bit of threadscore near his shin—and even though they were doing well overall, he couldn't help but feel like they had messed things up. It was Aleyath's turn to reassure his rider, and by the time they were slathered with numbweed and heading back out into the thick of things, O'len felt a lot better. At least they weren't dead.

This time, when C'sar's straps bounced him back onto Illiandinth's shoulders, Illiandinth could not help but notice. C'sar! Illiandinth called, almost overcompensating in his desire to aid his rider. Yet the pair was able to correct. I'm fine, dearest. Please don't fret, the rider assured his dragon, stroking his dark hide. Wincing, C'sar leaned forward so that he could rub his cheek against his dragon's neck, letting the skin to hide contact reassure them both. But they were not done fighting. Wheeling, Illiandinth returned to the fray.

Round Three Begins!

First Wave whites, greens, and blues -- thank you for your service. Go back to the Weyr and tend to your wounds.

Second Wave whites, greens, and blues -- you're up! Get a rollin'!

Tea Clutch weyrlings, you'll be bagging firestone, rolling bandages, keeping your babies calm, and generally required to stay out from underfoot! Tea Clutch can hang out with Second Wave, and then hang out with First Wave if you wish!

Round Two Begins now, 10:30pm PST
Round Two Ends: 10:30pm Sunday Sept 16, or there abouts! Uta will announce when the Round is over. You may keep rolling you daily rolls until Uta gives the announcement of the round change.

Remember you roll 3 times a day! Use it or lose it. Saves can stack per Round. Once the Round is up you need to earn them back!

~ ~ ~ ~

Second Wave, on my signal. The green dragon's voice was gentle and calm, soothing. The large green stood in the Weyrbowl, waiting for the call from Orioth and the general changeover. Orioth and Liat would return with the first wave, and her own J'cheyn, a Weyrlingmaster Assistant, was entrusted to finish out the rest of the Fall with Wave Two and the browns and bronzes.

While her rider was nervous, it wasn't from facing down the Enemy; no, like Liat, J'cheyn's biggest concern was the weyrlings. So far, so good. There were injuries, yes, but no one had died and no one had been ousted completely. Still, he knew that things could change in a heartbeat, and Thread wasn't over until the last, silvery threads were seared by dragonflame.

Come along now! Fight well! Savaceth encouraged, even as her rider gave the signal to take off. Up, up, up, the pair guided the weyrlings to high enough altitude, before sending out the coordinates. They would know where in formation they would appear -- just as those leaving would need to make the leap back to the Weyr. A seamless transition was what was desired, particularly so the larger colors weren't without proper coverage.

Now, beloved. And with that, the green rider took Wave Two into the fray.

One... Two... Three...

Savaceth took over from where Orioth had left. Sweet Hessianth, you fought well, but your brother Illiandinth will now relieve you. So far they had a blue and a brown at the head; now what might a bronze do?

Day 1 / Round 3 / Roll 1: Gung-Ho Grid
Green Seirath: 10/10 HP
Held saves: 0

There hadn't been enough time in that first wave of threadfall, that much Amra knew and it was all the more frustrating to her that Seirath was simply beside herself with excitement to fly. While she stood with all her weight leaned on one leg and her arms crossed, looking around at the rest of her fellow Weyrlings with hesitation in her normally emotionless eyes. While she had been training and expecting that this was coming for quite some time, it was another thing to have it looming before her with such finality. It was the first time she would ever face thread.... THEY would ever face thread. It was terrifying to her on one hand and all that she could think about were the images of the first day that Thread had fallen on the Western Continent. Blood and death, pain and anguish, the end of so many lives. Images were scattered about her Room in piles and thrown about as if they were nothing, scattering her thoughts along with the disarray that they were creating.

Suddenly a shining light was lit within that Room and it took everything she had to narrow her eyes against it, even going so far as to narrow them physically. Don't you fret my lady! We're going to do a magnificent job, my brothers and sisters have lit up the sky with their flame and protected so many during the first wave, now it's our time to shine! Don't let fear and old memories dull our perfectly shining moment! Seirath made the Room light up once more, seemingly doing something from her own extension that Amra had created just for her. Due to the size difference between them the little green was able to slide her head up and under one of Amra's arms until her head was resting on both of the woman's crossed ones. A laugh drew from deep within her chest for her beloved green beauty and she uncrossed her arms to run both her hands down the long neck of her beloved dragon.

"It's all so worrying, no one knows what happens when Thread is in the sky. But I have no doubt that you'll do brilliantly, we've been training for nearly a turn after all." Amra told her quietly, pressing a kiss between Seirath's eyes gently. As long as we're together, we'll always be safe.

Shaking her head at the little green's optimism that she was still certain would get them killed, Amra swung a leg up over her shoulders and strapped her long legs in so they didn't dangle too greatly while they were in the air. Being taller than her dragon had proven interesting on more than one occasion and she didn't need to have an issue the very first time she fought Thread. Slowly the pair readied themselves, sliding into their position for the takeoff, three hearts hammering out a beat like a drum on their chests as they hopped into the air and followed instructions to where they would be fighting.

Ice cold from Between was wiped away by the sheer amount of thread that just seemed to be everywhere!! Even knowing that she had a job to do the second she got there, an extra set of firestone strapped down to Seirath for a rider in a fighting wing, Amra's eyes widened the whole way and reflected the chaos she saw before her. Seirath was already moving though, well and fully prepared with information on where she was going, the excited green sliced a path through the air, flaming at Thread as she went to find the rider that the pair had been sent to aid. My lady! We don't have time for you to hesitate, there's someone fighting up ahead that needs us in order to keep all those images you keep looking at from happening again! Her voice was louder in Amra's head than it had ever been, likely because she had never felt her rider hesitate before, never once since they'd ever been together. It nearly took the wind out of Seirath's wings, but she knew that she had to fight and she knew that Amra would want her to if she were in her right mind, so she flew as fast as she could to where she had been given instructions to be and all she could do was hope that it would wake her rider up from her 'moment'.

It took a few beats of her heart, but Amra blinked and drew in a deep breath, knowing full well that her dragon was correct no matter how loud she was being about it. It was only to help her, she had to move, she had to do what she was instructed! With a heave she hurled some stone to the rider in question, though it was... how hard had she!? It smacked into the rider but they were able to catch it with a grunt and a shout to be more careful the next time, even if they waved their thanks.

It wasn't the best thing that she had ever done, but Amra laughed a bit and felt a sliver of confidence slide through her as Seirath spiraled back towards her position in their Weyrling wing.

Round 3 - Day 1 - Roll 1: General Grid
Green Nzambith 9/10 HP

Saves: 0

The call came much too soon for Vennodren who looked up, fear flashing across his face for a moment. Nzambith was picking her teeth idly with a claw and felt the fear roll over her for a moment, causing her eyes to swirl grey before settling back on their placid, sickly green that they usually were. Turning her head and leaning down, she gave Venn's side a nuzzle to reassure him. Most of the time it was the rider who was picking up the spirits of the dragon, but in this case she knew Vennodren needed someone to ground him, to assure him that everything would be fine, and even if it wasn't, was that so bad?

In the saddle, Vennmine. We have work to do. Her wings unfurled magnificently, her lean, lithe body hid the power that she possessed. Although she was taller and longer than most of her green siblings, she was a skinny thing that packed more power and stamina than let on by looks alone. She had been training for this day for almost a full Turn now and she had her mind focused on one goal and one goal only: destroy the Thread.

"Right...right," Venn said as he saddled up, latching himself in place before pulling on his gloves and adjusting his goggles. He could do this. They could do this. They were great in drills, they worked well as a team, now it was time to put it all into practice.

"Let's go, Nzambith," he said, his voice a little shaky even as he tried to draw upon the desire to fly and to fight that Nzambith felt. Together they rose with their wing, climbing higher and higher with each wing beat, then a moment of silence, freezing cold, and then-

Thread. Thread all around them. Above, below, beside. Venn froze in his seat, hands gripping the saddle tightly as he tried to remember to breathe. He'd waited so long for this moment, so long for his dragon companion and now they were here in the thick of things, Thread flying around them, and he could lose everything he had wished and hoped for in the blink of an eye.

Nzambith, for her part, dove right into the motions without a hitch. She spotted the wriggling Thread fluttering down below and she dove, going off training rather than Venn's orders since they were short in coming. The sudden dive caught Venn off guard and he gave a startled yelp as he floated up out of the saddle, a strap a bit too loose of all things! He'd spent two hours tightening them!

Nzam flamed the Thread without issue and swooped back up to take her position, earning a groan of pain from her rider as he landed hard on his backside.

"Easy, Nzam!" he said, his voice shaky from the little scare. She sent him a gentle, comforting thought to soothe him as he re-tightened the strap again, hopeful it would stay put. His dragon's competence made him feel a bit better despite his own moment of panic. She had done well and hopefully would continue to do so, but with him behind her one hundred percent.

"Right...let's go!" he said, a bit more confident now.

Round 3 - Day 1 - Roll 2: General Grid
Green Nzambith 9/10 HP

Saves: 1 Used

Now that he wasn't freaking out so much, Venn took a moment to survey his surroundings. Thread wasn't everywhere persay...it was there, yes, but it wasn't as if they were flying through clouds of it. His heart rate was still quick but he wasn't as frantic as he had been. Nzambith's confidence and steady way of tackling this problem brought him more comfort than he realized he needed and together they flew beautifully.

As they watched for Thread, Vennodren noticed Aramath blinking Between not too far from where they were. The splotchy blue reappeared not far from them just as a clump of Thread fell from overhead, nearly encompassing dragon and rider. Nzambith and Vennodren saw the dangerous silver mass at the same time and as one they called out, Nzambith in mind and Vennodren in voice to the pair.

"Get outta there!" Venn yelped as Nzambith pushed her brother to jump Between once more, just for a moment.

Thread is all around you, Aramath! Away, quickly!

Round 3 - Day 1 - Roll 3: General Grid
Green Nzambith 9/10 HP

Saves: 1 0

They'd been airborne for a while now and so far they were doing quite well. They were catching Thread as it came towards them, flaming it carefully without being too showy. Vennodren's anxieties had calmed as he realized that this wasn't so bad, not with such a capable dragon between his legs. Nzambith was a true workhorse, so focused on her goal that nothing broke her concentration. She had a job and that was to keep Thread from hitting the ground, and boy was she good at it! Venn couldn't help the little bit of pride that welled up in his chest, but he had to ignore it for now. He could praise Nzambith when they were on the ground.

Almost as one, Nzambith and Vennodren spotted their sister and friend, respectively, pursuing a clump of Thread that was falling to the ground at a rather quick rate. Although Amra was tall and Seirath was one of the smaller dragons from the clutch, the two worked so incredibly well together that they seemed to be one being chasing down the silver terror. Their speed turned out to be too great in chasing the Thread, though, for they overshot it as the clump suddenly slowed.

"Quickly, tell them it's there!" Venn urged Nzambith who called out quickly to her beloved sister.

Seirath, behind you! Quickly, it's almost on you! She urged her sister to flee, to go Between, to turn and flame the Thread down, something to avoid the clump that was caught in their slipstream and closing in fast.

Day 1 / Round 3 / Roll 2: Gung-Ho Grid
Green Seirath: 10/10 HP
Held saves: 0

With a spiral the pair twisted back into the action but... there... where was the action? Seirath's eyes swirled an irritated orange as she watched her siblings on both sides flaming Thread and there was nothing for her to take care of. "Yet dear, there's nothing for you to take care of 'yet'. Don't get all worked up trying to fly off like some sort of hero, if you get too punchy we'll end up getting burnt."

Even though her beloved rider was telling her to calm down she just couldn't help it, Seirath was prepared and was ready, all that they'd done so far was deliver firestone to one rider in a fighting wing, when was she going to get to flame thread and prove herself!? With a quiet huff she twisted into a barrel roll, glancing all around to see if there was anything she was missing, if there was a single strand that happened to escape, but nothing met her faceted eyes.

This is going to be so boring if we don't get to flame a single strand of thread in our wing! Seirath pouted, giving a gentle trill of irritation that was met with a firm hand, there would be no showboating on their first attempt at fighting Thread, their wingmates depended on each other, they were all important. Just feeling that sort of assertion made her rumble but she acquiesced all the same, eyes still a brilliantly burning orange of frustration.

Quote:
4. There's a moment of quiet and it's making you impatient. You want to fight, fight, fight! Sitting around doing nothing is no fun.... Where's the action? This Threadfall is a piece of cake!

Day 1 / Round 3 / Roll 3: Gung-Ho Grid
Green Seirath: 10/10 HP
Held saves: 0

Slowly about to right herself from her barrel roll, Amra still frustrated at Seirath's frustration, the little green caught sight of a tangled clump of Thread that was careening towards one of her siblings. A clench in her rider's gut tipped her to the danger and before Amra could so much as try to direct her on what to do Seirath was falling towards the clumps of thread and singing them from the sky. As she flew past the spot she'd seared the clumps from the black dust hit the pair harmlessly and a pop signified what the green had been worried about.

You've been keeping an eye on the formations, haven't you? You knew that... Amra started, jolting from the rest of her sentence by pointing out thread that Seirath instantly singed away. As if I would let thread hurt my sweet brother, he doesn't need any scars on that wonderful hide of his. Her words were leveled at both her rider and her brother and the green's eyes flashed an impish indigo color as she twisted to get back into formation once more.

Round 3 - Day 1 - Roll 1: Roulette Grid
Bronze Vedmath: 11/16 HP KO'd
Held saves: 0

Quote:
5. Something goes wrong. One moment you were busy diving for a strand of Thread, the next you find yourself blown into a large clump!. There is no time for warning, no time for anyone to intervene. No time to call out, no time to blink Between. The Thread is on you, eating you, eating at your dragon, even as you hear them shriek in pain. There's no time to visualize the Weyr when all you feel is the agony of your dragon, as well as the burning pain of Threadscore. Automatic KO. Major Damage. Automatic 0 HP. Your dragon will fall but be caught by one of the queens.

Vedmath thrummed warmly at the touch of encouragement from his mother, happier colors flashing through his eyes for a few moments. This pain is not so terrible, but if it becomes worse, I promise that we will not be foolish. No, his Dezerac would not risk him unnecessarily, nor vice versa. They would take care of each other! The first half of their fight was coming to a close, and it was time for their smaller siblings to trade out.

During those few seconds of transition, an especially strong gust of wind caught the bronze's broad wings just so, throwing him into a large clump of Thread. He shrieked as it ate into his wings, his back, his neck, His-

White Brancath and Isilje

The pair turned quickly, flying back in to the Weyr as the young girl started to worry. Brancath's sail was damaged, and would need tending, and she? Her leg and thigh were aching something fierce, her nose wrinkling as a less-than-graceful landing cause a jolt. Slowly, she slipped from her straps, pulling off the damaged wherhide and looking down. It was bad, but not so bad it would hinder her from riding. She was more worried for her beloved. The White, however, as she was being tended, watched the second wave take to the sky, eyes whirling anxious yellow and sad white,
To all my sisters, may Faranth guarantee your safe return to the weyr. Sending a wave of affection after her sisters, the female then submitted to the healers, her eyes almost solely on her Rider. They would be well, as would their clutchmates....They had to be.

Day 1 / Round 3 / Roll 1: Conservative Grid
Blue Aramath: 12/12 HP
Held saves: 0

As the time to switch in came near, Aramath was becoming more and more agitated, shifting on his paws and lashing his tail, occasionally letting out a subdued moan. His rider, knowing that eating sometimes helped to quell his own anxiety, gave him small bits of firestone to crunch while they waited. It worked, a little, but he’d eaten quite a bit by the time Savaceth finally called them to attention. We can do this, the boy assured his blue, stroking the dragon’s thick neck. We’ve come a long way. Let’s face our fears and conquer them together, Aramath!

The blue turned his head to gaze at his rider with one large white-whirling eye. Yes. Together.

They launched into the air along with the rest of their clutchmates, following their green leader into battle.

The swap-in was nearly flawless, each young wingmember slipping into formation just as they had practiced so many, many times. But Aramath was tense, trying to look everywhere at once. Not only at falling threads, but also at his siblings’ flames. He gave the blue one last chunk of firestone for good measure, only to be startled by Aramath’s shriek of pain and full-body shudder as he bit down. I bit my tongue, Aramath whimpered. With little else he could do at the moment, Silviu continuously sent soothing thoughts to him through their bond, using no words so they could both focus on their duty.

Quote:

Round 3 - Day 1 - Roll 1: General Grid
Brown Hessianth: 14/14 hp
Held saves: 0

Quote:
Your dragon spots a silver strand of Thread. You visualize the space you need to go to flame it, but don't take into account the wind, or your dragon's flight speed. Instead, you appear Between but have completely overshot your airspace and are now out in the open, exposed, and with no Thread anywhere near you. Shaffit all! Don't you look the fool. Whoops.

If there was a dragon that Hessianth had shown actual contempt for, it was Illiandanth. Certainly, Strigonth got a good deal of sneering and the two didn't see eye-to-eye, but the bronze was on a different level. So being replaced in his duties by him almost earned a comment - one that L'nik quickly moved to silence. Now is not the time for that. Keep your eyes on your brothers and sisters. You got some back safely - as did Strigonth - but now you need to help those who will be joining us.

Like poor Loreleth. He'd need all the reassurance he could get!

Hessianth just rumbled with displeasure as he dropped his position instead, giving his bronze brother a look of distrust. He'd simply have to keep doing well, even if he was leery. Though perhaps he was a bit too distracted by that fact when L'nik urged him on that his next target was gone by the time he got there. This was doubled when he heard Vedmath suddenly cry out, eyes whirling yellow and white as the brown suddenly twisted to look and -

He's falling! Hessianth alerted his rider, though L'nik had already seen it for himself, and while he wanted to - while Hessianth wanted to - they couldn't leave their position for a rescue - and they had to trust the queens below to do their part. But now the seed of worry was placed.

They needed to get through this now.
