Mel blinked and turned her head, and Brian pivoted around as a figure became slightly visible, coming towards them from another tunnel off to the side of the path they were on. "S'not mine," Brian commented. "Ho-ho! I figured, I was talking to the young man with the shorter hair!" the rotund hiker chuckled. Mel shifted, then turned more towards him, placing a hand on her hip as she stared flatly at him, a frown on her face.

Mel heaved a heavy sigh, and rolled her eyes. Even Lucy looked a bit disappointed. This was.... the same as before. Nothing different. Just as weak. Mel almost hadn't noticed that Z seemed to have disappeared, until he re-emerged by her side. Her opponent was staring at his pokemon, but looked up as he recalled it, his eyes widening at the sight of the legendary. "Dear Arceus, that's--""Zygarde, yeah," Mel interrupted, her arms still crossed, "Just send out your next pokemon, if you don't mind." The man blinked, looking at her in astonishment. Perhaps it was the way Z sort of.... glowed in the darkness of the cave, but the man seemed hypnotized and astonished at his presence, and, without paying much attention, released his next pokemon. Mel sighed, and nodded to Lucy. She wanted to let her other pokemon take a chance and do some damage, get some experience.... but she knew that item she'd given her would eventually be used up. She wanted to get the most of it while she could, though eventually.... she was going to let her other pokemon take their turn at it.

The man seemed to finally be realizing he was quite outmatched as he recalled his third pokemon. "So.... how exactly did you come across a legendary, missy?" he asked, looking down, a bit remorsefully, at his fourth pokeball, before sending it out. Mel eyed the ghost pokemon. That was actually one Lucy didn't have an advantage against, but at this point, advantages didn't even really matter. "Why? You're not interested taking it, are you?" she asked, giving him a terse sort of playful smile. He laughed -- a sincere laugh. "Ho-ho, no! They're just not very common, is all!" he replied boisterously. Mel's smile relaxed a bit. Honestly, she wasn't sure if she was annoyed or amused at how loud he was being.... but it was a bit nice to have an actual conversation while their pokemon... er, while Lucy, battled.

The man blinked a bit at her answer, but then chuckled. His laughter died down a bit as he noticed his pokemon faint, and he sighed as he recalled it. "Not a lot, no. I can tell you oen thing, though! I certainly regret challenging you and that monferno of yours to a battle!" he replied, giving another loud laugh. Mel tilted her head. "You can always withdraw, you know," she suggested gently. He shook his head. "No, no... my pokemon and I will see this through to the end. I know they'd feel the same if they were out here, making the choice," he replied fondly. Mel's smile softened. At least the guy seemed nice... gender mistakes aside.

Just as the others, Lucy was able to take it out, though Mel was proud to see her starter was doing her best not to hit it any harder than she needed to. Giving Lucy a smile, which the monferno returned brightly, Mel shifted her gaze to the man, and gave him a nod. "Well, I certainly feel I've learned a thing or two, meeting you, Missy," he chuckled. Mel refrained from rolling her eyes, and just tightened her smile a bit at the nickname. Not something she appreciated, but, she would let it pass. She'd already beaten the poor guy's entire team. "Well, I'm glad this could be enlightening for you. Hopefully you'll know better than to mistake a girl for a boy, and then challenge her to a battle, ya?" she replied playfully, giving a wink as she stepped forward to shake the man's hand. Holding back a host of remarks on that particular nickname, Mel bid farewell to the man. She ran a hand over her hair and shook her head as he left, turning away, and glancing at Brian. "Interesting guy," she remarked with amusement. "And loud. I think he might have attracted some wild pokemon," Brian remarked, pointing up ahead. Mel blinked and looked, then sank a bit. "Oh... bugger," she muttered. She perked up a bit as she recognized the wild pokemon, though, and started walking either way. "Well.... looks like you might get a more training, Lucy. Interested?" she offered, glancing down at the monferno, who smiled back up at her, gave a nod, and bounded forward to take on the meditite.

Mel quirked an eyebrow, frowning slightly. "Really? They-- wait," she stopped, staring ahead. She was still, then lifted a hand. "Like that?" she asked, her eyes wide. Brian blinked ahead, and jumped when he saw Lucy getting encircled by Roselia. "Send out Blue! Send out Blue!" he urged, flailing his arms in the air. Startled, she fumbled with Blue's ball, and his fish bowl, quickly tossing them both out before even thinking. "Wait why!?" she asked, a bit panicked. "Blue used Blizzard!" Brian frantically instructed. Unlike the people, neither pokemon seemed particularly phased by this. Lucy blinked and looked back, and Blue curved to give them a look. But, promptly, he leaped up, flipping his fin and curving in mid air, sending a harsh blast of a blizzard at the Roselia, and scattering them.

Mel lifted a hand to her head. "So that was a horde?" she asked, looking at Brian with raised eyebrows and wide eyes. Lucy had already run off to do some more battling. "Yeah... You can probably recall Blue now," he replied. She frowned when she noticed he was furrowing his brow and looking ahead, like he was trying to make something out. She walked over to recall Blue and get the fishbowl, but blinked when she, too, noticed that something was up ahead. "Uh... Lucy?" she called, not taking her eyes off the subject. The monferno came bounding back, looking at her curiously. As she and Brian hesitantly started forward, with Lucy trailing along, giving them both an expectant, questioning look, the form started to come into view. Or... forms, rather. It was two pokemon, two out of shape, two strong looking pokemon. The one floating, a psychic type, turned to look at them as they approached, and it's companion buzzed about to look at them as well. Neither.... looked friendly. "I don't think those are wild," Brian muttered, glancing around, "I think there's a trainer nearby." Mel glanced at him. By the tone of his voice, he was getting the same, bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, too.
"Lucy, do you think you could handle them?" Mel asked, glancing down at her starter. "Mel--""I know." Lucy was weak against both of them. Ground, and psychic? It wasn't a good match up. But she wasn't sure how any of her other pokemon would do, she'd barely trained with any of them, and these looked much stronger than any of the pokemon they'd encountered before, wild or not. "Mon!" Lucy confirmed. Mel nodded, kneeling down. "Let me... heal you a bit first, at least," she murmured.
