Rummy chirped excitedly as he was released next, his head whipping around in excitement. Sebastian was slightly disgruntled, still gingerly rubbing at his neck. He wasn’t going to let that get to him though; he still had things to figure out and discuss and at least he could hopefully count on Rummy to be… friendly.
"Okay… Rummy…," Sebastian started, frowning a moment as the Leafeon began to chatter away excitedly. Right this was an issue. The man frowned, waiting a minute or two for the pokemon to cease talking of his own accord before finally clamping a hand gently over the pokemon’s muzzle. "Shhh… Rummy. I need you to listen for a moment." Rummy stared back with a wide eyes but surprisingly, fell quiet.
"Alright Rummy, so here’s the deal." Sebastian started, pulling his hand away and to flick it through the air. "I wanted to see if you were interested in participating in contests." The Leafeon just stared blankly, tail swishing. Okay, obviously… he didn’t quite understand the question. Sebastian gave a little frown, rubbing the back of his neck. "They’re like shows where you’d perform different moves and such.“ Rummy perked a bit, eyes slowly growing wider. Okay, he was getting somewhere.
"I think you’d do well in them. They’re probably going to require energy and… well I think you’ve got a lot of it." He remarked slowly, trying to gauge the pokemon’s reaction. Sebastian didn’t need a repeat Dues situation with Rummy; the pair had come together after all, who knew how much alike they might’ve been. Luckily for Sebastian, such a comparison didn’t exist and instead his leaf tail began to spastically swish left to right in growing excitement. Good, this was a pleasant change.
"So what do you say? Do you want to give it a try? If you don’t like it, you can sto-""Leaf! Leeafleafffleafff leafeon!" Rummy piped up, his tone clearly in agreement. Sebastian gave a smile, hands clapping together in a show of pleasure.
"Alright good! I’ll look into it a bit more and we’ll see what contests you could try okay?" The Leafeon just kept right on chirping excitedly, wiggling this way and that. Contests? That sounded great! It sounded just like the stuff that happened on the television! And he was all about the television stunts! It’d be amazing! He’d be amazing! He wondered for a moment if Dues would be amazed. Actually, where was he now that he thought about it...
That thought was cut short though as Sebastian spoke up again. "For now though, we should do a little battling. So I can get a feel for what you can do…," He hadn’t had a chance to really battle with Rummy since he’d evolved. And seeing as how he’d just taught him a new move, it was worth seeing what he could do. Rummy seemed to agree, immediately bursting into a series of lengthy chirps of excitement as he hopped to his feet and pranced around excitedly.

With Rummy still excitedly chirping away, Sebastian stood and moved for the tall grass. A bit of training was probably beneficial; actually, the thought reminded him to probably shift his team around and get some training in.
Before he had a chance to do that though, a little pink creature skipped its way out of the grass to confront them. Before Sebastian could say anything, Rummy was in action, grinning happily before launching a rather serious ball of light at the randomly appearing Mime Jr. Well… at least he had enthusiasm.

As it turned out, he was, though just barely. Mimey quickly caught him up on the battling, which he seemed to at least... somewhat grasp through his yawning and grogginess. Once he'd woken up a bit more, he returned everyone, save Mime Jr and Ralts, and went to get them healed up. Taking Mimey's advice, he also went shopping, and took some time to get ready before going to the gym. When he got there, he couldn't help but feel like he'd just entered some sort of roller rink. The sounds of wheels on smoothed surfaces, rocketing off and landing, people shouting to one another over tricks, echoed around the large area, and he sighed. He released Zoey, who immediately landed on his shoulder, squeaking, but he couldn't get much of an echo. He wasn't letting her out for that, anyway-- he sent her off to find the gym leader, a slightly apologetic smile on his face when he heard her skate over.
He apologized for the inconvenience, honestly explaining the situation. Luckily it wasn't too hard to get to the battle field once he explained, and shortly thereafter, they were ready to battle.

Korrina was very forgiving with JD. She'd been pretty confused when a brightly colored Zubat had come to get her attention, but when JD explained everything, it made complete sense, and she was more than willing to halt the skaters and guide him through to the center of the gym. It was quite an experience really. She couldn't recall ever having a blind challenger in her gym before, but she sure respected JD for ignoring his handicap and pursuing the life of a trainer in spite of it. That took guts. Not to mention, he completely blew her pokemon out of the water, but it was a good match. "Wow! What a battle! Here, you've earned my Rumble Badge. It's design is a boxing glove, proof of your fighting spirit!" She explained for JD since she knew he couldn't see it, and gently helped place the badge in his hand.
Next she also helped him take the TM she wanted to give him. "And this is the TM for power up punch. It's my favorite move! Every time you use it, your attack power increases!" She grinned. "Now then, let's see if we can't get you back out of the gym in one piece huh?" She chuckled, waiting until he was ready to head back before helping him out.

Alright well that had gone well, though Sebastian felt a bit bad for the Mime Jr. as it rushed back into the grass. Rummy was proud of his actions though as well as his new move. It was a giant ball of light! What was cooler than that?! How about a bigger ball of light. It was amazing! He’d never thought he’d ever be able to do something like that and yet he did.
While Rummy hopped and rolled and bounded about like a young child hyped on sugar, Sebastian took the moment to decided how to rearrange his team. He actually considered bringing Blackjack to his active team… he had quite a few badges now, maybe it’d be nice to get a chance to battle?
As he shuffled through his bag and his pokemon he paused a moment, pulling out the strange orb from before. He still had no real idea what it was; Jay had mentioned that he’d tell him about it but… you know, he hadn’t. Sebastian stood there, the orb cupped in his hands weighing the strange glass orb in between them as he studied it. It was weird the way the colored smoke seemed to move on the inside; it didn’t seem natural and yet… it was.
”Well hello there. What’s that you’ve got?” An elderly voice chimed from right next to him, causing the man to jump. Holy crap where did this guy from?! Sebastian stepped and spun, blinking and quirking an eyebrow at the man. Whoa… those were some serious eyebrows.

The man cleared his throat, snapping Sebastian out of what was a rather rude staring situation. "Oh uhm…," Well that was a bit awkward. Rummy paused in his rambunctious actions to stare wide-eyed at the stranger. He too seemed amazed at those eyebrows.
The elderly man didn’t seem to notice, instead gesturing at the orb in Sebastian’s hand. ”Would you mind if I had a look?” Sebastian glanced between the orb and the man, blinking blankly a moment before slowly offering it over. "Uhm sure…," he replied, watching as the man smiled and took the orb, looking down at the object with an appraising gaze. Sebastian folded his arms across his chest, watching the man curiously. After a moment of silence he spoke up. "Do you know what it is?"
”Of course. You don’t?” Sebastian frowned, shaking his head. "No, not really to be honest." The man frowned, eyeing Sebastian a moment. ”Really now? Where did you find this?” The trainer gave a less reassuring glance at the Leafeon still wagging away at his side, frown still on his face.
"I… found it sort of." That was mostly the truth; Rummy was the one who’d found it and where that was… he wasn’t quite sure. The man didn’t seem to approve of this, turning and beginning to walk away with Sebastian’s orb thing still in hand.
”Well then, it looks like you’ve got some learning to do about Mega Stones.” Sebastian perked up. Whoa wait, mega stones? Maybe that had something to do with Mega evolutions?
"Mega stones? Like… mega evolution?" Sebastian questioned, making to follow after the man. The man was sort of commandeering his stone without his permission, but the potential information he could learn was more at the fore front of his mind than that. The walk to the tower was long and the man’s story was even longer. Honestly, if Sebastian hadn’t had years of training in listening to people recant their various life stories or events from their adventures, he might’ve been visibly bored or inattentive.
Not that he was though; the elderly man’s tale was rather interesting to hear, especially since it seemed to deal with the history of mega evolution in the first place. It just wasn’t quite the information he was expecting. It also didn’t help that Rummy was off attempting to assault everything in sight which, while good for training, was also rather distracting.
Luckily that stopped as they entered into the tower, Rummy’s eyes going large at the strange statue of a peculiar pokemon. Sebastian gaze focused on it as well, but mostly out of curious unfamiliarity. It wasn’t a pokemon he recognized, but judging by the way the man stopped to look up at it as he concluded his story, it might’ve been the one he’d mentioned several time in his stories.
”… and that's the story of how we’ve come to understand Mega evolution today.” The man finished, turning around to face Sebastian face on, orb still in hand. ”Only through a strong bond between trainer and pokemon can this powerful transformation occur.” Sebastian tilted his head a bit, looking… impressed? Amazed? Confused as hell? Some combination of the three. "That’s… that’s amazing." He responded, eyes moving from the statue to the guru. It was an impressive story.
The man nodded, gesturing to the orb. ”Indeed. And so now the question is, do you have such a bond to use this mega stone?” Sebastian stared blankly a moment, giving only the slightest of side glances at Rummy, who seem more interested in jumping up and down next to the man attempting to retrieve the orb. That was totally his shiny rock.
"Uhm…," Sebastian still wasn’t sure he really got what mega evolution was. "Mayyy….be?" That was certainly a reassuring answer. The man didn’t seem to agree though, a frown etching across his face. ”Oh?”
"Well… it depends on who the stone is meant for in the first place, correct?" Sebastian remarked as he pointed at the stone. He’d recalled that only certain pokemon could mega evolve. At least he’d been paying some attention.

Jay appreciated Korrina's kindness-- it wasn't really necessary, on some of it, but it kept him from reaching out blindly, or stumbling about, doing things that would generally be embarrassing (though it was hit or miss whether he found it as such). He wrapped his fingers around the badge and gave a grateful nod, lifting his head when she mentioned a TM. "Well thank ya kindly," he replied, carefully putting both in their respective locations. This reminded him that he should probably go through his TMs sometime to refresh his memory on what he had.
Once Korrina had helped him out, he adjusted his hat, listening and then turning to head towards the pokecenter. He sort of wondered where Sebastian had gone off to, and realized they didn't really have a way of reconnecting. Had Sebastian already challenged the gym? Was he ready to move on? He figured that he would send him a message to check in, and once he'd healed his pokemon, used his communicator to transcribe a message into text and send it to Sebastian. And maybe then he'd rearrange his party a bit to prepare for the next gym.

Once his pokemon were healed, Jay stepped off to the side, sitting down to send Sebastian a message. It was pretty quick and concise -- 'Howdy Sebastian, you challenged the gym yet?' -- but he paused after it had been sent. He played with the device a bit, then finally lifted it up and made a simple command. He held it as he heard it dial and make the call, waiting to see if anyone picked up on the other end. It rang for a bit, then, "Hello?" He smiled. "Howdy Al," he greeted. His sister's excited voice immediately squeaked, "Jay! We were just talkin' 'bout you! You're lucky you called, momma's been threatenin' ta chase ya down if ya didn'!" Jay scoffed. "She does know she can call too, don' she?" he remarked with amusement.
"Well o' course! But she'd rather see ya face t'face," she replied, then giggled childishly, "Hehe... 'see'." Jay leaned back, keeping the device held up as he closed his eyes. "Yer hilarious," he muttered dryly with amusement. "I know! Momma has a big box o' stuff ta send ya, bai thuh way. She wants ta wait till thuh berries 'r done growin' though.""Berries?""Mhmm. Momma heard they could be useful fer trainers, so when she found uh few she tried plantin' 'em," she explained. Jay was quiet a moment. "... Y'all got room fer more? Ah ain't got 'em on me yet, but ahm akshully plannin' ta try contests fer uh bit 'n was thinkin've gettin' inta plantin' berries ta help with that.""Uh, we do, but... yer doin' contest? Um, Jay..." He smiled as he heard the mix of amusement and uncertainty in her voice. "Yeah yeah ah know. But ah picked up uh pok'mon tha's perty adament 'bout it, 'n figured ah could let her take over fer thuh most part."
There was quiet on the other end for a moment, then he heard her sigh, his brow furrowing as a frown crossed his face. "I've decided not ta tease yew," she informed him, as though he should be much honored by this choice. The frown vanished and he smiled, relaxing again. "'Preciate it. Look, ah gotta get back ta trainin' 'n ahm expectin' uh text 'r somethin' in uh bit, but e'rythin's fine there, right...?""Yeah we're fine, Jay. Don' worry! We'll letcha know if we needja. C'm 'n visit sometaym!" she chirruped. "Mm... Will do," he replied, and they both hung up. He pushed himself to his feet, and Mimey hopped down from the bench to stand beside him.
"By the way, Jay, that reminds me!" she chirped up, "Gail and Jade went to collect berries from the trees you'd planted! They apparently planted a few more, too, if you want one of us to go check on them!" Jay's brow furrowed. ".... Gail?" he repeated. Mime Jr blinked. "Oh! Right, you didn't really meet her... That other eevee you have with you is apparently named Gail!" she explained, hands on her hips. Jay continued frowning, but nodded in understanding, murmuring a 'Right...' before moving towards the computer.

Another long and laborious trek later and they were at the top of the tower. Rummy was actually tired from all that climbing. Who knew a ramp could wind upwards for so long? Sebastian was a little worn himself and the sound of his pokegear going off caught his attention about halfway up the tower. So did the height. He had to actively work to keep his gaze forward and not glancing over the railing towards the ground. The man didn’t seem tired at all from the climb, pausing once as they reached the top to gaze out over the city.
Sebastian wasn’t really happy about this view though and had to work hard to not choke and focus on something not far off in the distance. He tried to keep his gaze instead on Rummy, who was fascinated to be up so high and had promptly decided to linger as close to the railing near the edge as possible. Great… just great.
”Before I tell you how this stone works, I think it’s only fair to say I’d like to know if you’ve the skill as a trainer to use it.” Sebastian felt alarmed. He didn’t really want to take any tests at the moment; not this high up and certainly not after dealing with Dues. This wasn’t going to be some trust exercise was it? Some advanced version of the drop test? He was not doing that drop test with his pokemon off a tower. That wasn’t a trust thing; that was just logic.
”I’d like you to prove yourself by defeating the Shalour City gym leader.” Sebastian stared a moment, snapping out of his alarm and over thinking in surprise. The guru seemed genuine in his request though.
"Oh uhm… I’ve already beaten her." The man perked up, giving Sebastian a curious surprised look. ”Oh?” The young man grudgingly nodded, pulling his badge case out of his bag and gesturing to the Rumble badge in it. ”Then let’s see if your bond is strong enough to use this stone.” He remarked, stepping forward and offering the stone back to Sebastian. The young man took it, hands trembling slightly as he did. He turned to face Blackjack, kneeling down and after a little mc-guivering, managed to attach the orb around the Houndoom’s neck.
For moment… there was honestly nothing and Sebastian was disappointed. And then BOOM! Okay well, there was no boom but Blackjack was engulfed in a serious light, akin and yet different in energy to evolution. Once it faded, the trainer was staring in absolute awe at the newly transformed Houndoom.
"Whoooooaaaaaaaa…. " Sebastian remarked with wide eyed amazement, immediately reaching up and latching his hands onto Balckjack’s horns, gently rocking the hound’s head from side to side as he looked him over. "Blackjack…" Sebastian grinned staring down at the mega Houndoom in pure glee. "You. Look. BADASS!"
”Well it seems your bond was strong after all!” The guru remarked with a smirk, head lowering and eyes shutting as he turned away again. Sebastian enjoyment was temporarily halted as he caught the guru continuing to talk… apparently falling back into yet another story concerning mega evolution.
Sebastian grimaced and in an ungentlemanly fashion, snuck a peak at his pokegear as the man talked. A message from… Jay? About the gym no less. Right he… probably should answer that as soon as possible. Tucking the pokegear away he looked back at the man standing with a hand still clutching one of Houndoom’s horns.
"I really appreciate the help and information, sir. But I’ve got… to… go…" Was the guru even listening? He didn’t… think he was listening. In fact, he seemed rather enthralled in recalling some more stories. Giving a side glance at Blackjack and a bit of a head gesture he maneuvered backwards slowly, ushering Rummy to follow and get away from the stupid ledge as the moved to leave. The guru didn’t even to notice as Sebastian slipped back into the tower with pokemon in tow, much to his relief.
Of course… they were still high up and that was right on his mind as he slid down to sit, pulling his pokegear out again to respond to the text. Right.., the gym. He paused a moment, tuning out the now violently chattering Rummy who seemed fascinated with Blackjack.

Jay asked Scy to go and retrieve any berries that might have grown on the tree that Gail planted, while he got to work on sorting out his team. Mime Jr hung herself on his shoulder, looking curiously at the screen and helping him maneuver. As he moved through his pokemon in storage, however, she suddenly placed a hand on his head-- well, ear, but still. 'Wait Jay,' she urged, staring intently at the screen. She narrowed her eyes, staring, staring, and then finally taking in a breath, and holding it. '... Didn't you catch a Munchlax?' she asked. Jay frowned, and, mostly out of habitual reflex to her speaking purely through telepathy, replied in thought. 'Yeah, why?' he asked. '... And you DIDN'T catch an archen?' Jay's brows furrowed. 'Uh what?' he asked, getting a bit annoyed at the lack of answers he was getting.
"Excuse me miss!" This time Mimey spoke outloud as she called out to the Nurse, Jay wincing slightly from her voice right by his ear. He reached up, rubbing his ear as Nurse Joy came over. "Yes? Can I help you?" she asked, looking from the MIme Jr to Jay, to the computer, and then back to the two again. "I think there's been a mix up," Mimey stated, frowning at the woman, "One of my trainer's pokemon has been replaced by one he didn't catch.""What!?" Jay reflexively snapped his head around, but stopped short to keep from knocking Mimey off. She pushed his face away, determinedly keeping her gaze with a now nervous-looking Nurse Joy.
"O-oh... oh no. I'm so sorry, um..." The woman glanced at the computer, then back to Mime Jr, her hands clasped together, "There have been a few issues with the system lately. I'm so sorry, um..." She seemed to nervously hover a moment, considering, then hurriedly fled to her desk and grabbed a piece of paper. "If you'll help me fill out this form... I'll be sure to share this information with all the other pokecenters, and hopefully whoever got your trainer's pokemon will be alerted, and they can be exchanged," she anxiously explained, returning back. Mime Jr huffed, but nodded, hopping onto the counter while Jay stood, dumbfounded and clearly annoyed beyond reason, near the computer. He was gritting his teeth, but luckily, Scy returned, snapping his attention away.
"Thanks Scy..." he muttered, taking the rather large amount of berries, and putting them away for now. Criminy, he had a lot... He would have to start looking into how to turn them into that food stuffs pokemon ate for contests. For now, he irritably tried to focus on his team, rearranging his pokemon a bit, and preparing for the next gym. Maybe after this, he could go sit outside for a while and wait for Sebastian to show up...

With his team resituated and the PC situation.... mostly handled, Jay decided he could very much use a breath of fresh air. He released Mary Lee and Quena, the latter quickly dashing up to take her usual residence in his pocket. He didn't seem to mind, and took a seat at a nearby bench, using his echolocation and Mimey's help to find it easily enough, and take a seat. Mary Lee immediately came up, cooing happily and putting her head in his lap. "Nuuuum~!" she greeted happily, using all her little self-control not to leap up and bounce around. She'd missed him! She'd been in the PC SO LONG! "Ah missed yew too, Mary Lee. Hope ya weren't too dis'pointed, ah jus' needed ta train sum others. We've gotta lotta new teammates," he explained, one hand gently supporting her head, while the other affectionately ruffled her little tuft of fur. "Nuuum! Nuumel~!" she reassured him happily. Mime Jr sat beside Jay, smiling a bit with her little feet swaying. She blinked when she heard Jay's communicator go off, reaching ofr it so her trainer could keep petting Mary Lee.
"Don' s'pose that's Sebastian?" he asked, turning his head a little, but continuing to pet the numel. Mary Lee jumped up on the bench, her heavy weight making it creak and bend slightly. She didn't seem bothered, though, and laid down, resting her little nub legs on the edge of Jay's leg and laying her neck down across his lap, looking curiously at the object in Mime Jr's hands. "Mhm! Want me to reply?" she asked. Jay frowned. "Well whaddus it say?" he asked, running his hand over Mary Lee's head and neck as he petted her, head turned slightly towards his psychic pokemon. "Oh! Um... He said he beat the gym and asked if you challenged her too," she reported. "Then yeah, go ahead 'n tell 'em we did, 'n where we're at," he replied. She nodded, little hands working to type out a message, and send it back to Sebastian.
