here's an attempt . . .

he woke up, hoping today would be different only to realize it's the same routine as it has been for the past 2 years.
determination isn't something he lacks, but he still can't change the routine that leads to nothing.
sanity is slowly leaving, as is determination, giving way to anxiety, fear, and hopelessness.
he begins to wonder is there any point in trying anymore.
