[ lyfrocier and green guarath ] [ average shape - first grid ] [ roll 1/4 | points: 3 ]
Lyfrocier knew full well that this was going to be an absolute train wreck. He understood the necessity of it, of course--if they were going to be fighting Thread, they all certainly had to be in half-decent shape, considering how grueling the process was on the best of days. But even still, he couldn't help but grimace as he began his jog around the lake, Guarath trotting along at his side. This was going to be...long. Eugh. I hate how this mud feels. I know, love. I'm not a fan either. Lyf skirted around a particularly large puddle, careful not to go crashing into anyone else in the process. We'll be at this a while, though. The lake isn't that small, even if it looks to be. The mental groan Guarath gave him almost pulled a smile onto his face, but his boot landing square in an especially squishy patch of mud quickly gave him other things to worry about.

Quote: You're not fooled by the size of the Weyr Lake. You know it's deceptively large, and is a lot wider than it seems. You pace yourself, knowing full well this is going to be all about stamina and the long haul. [+2 Point] If you're in Average Shape, go ahead and add one more point, because you're definitely on the right train of thought! [+1 Point]

[ lyfrocier and green guarath ] [ average shape - first grid ] [ roll 2/4 | points: 6 ]
Hm. Maybe this wouldn't be quite as bad as he'd thought. Lyfrocier was a bit taken aback as he began to pull ahead, almost wondering if he should slow down just a touch to maintain a more steady pace. The rain had already left plenty of marks across the lenses of his glasses, and his gear would only get all the heavier with rainwater on it; it would probably just get harder to see from here, and he didn't want to risk stumbling. But even with these thoughts in mind, he couldn't help but feel a bit proud of himself all the same. Of course you're doing well! Guarath was all too happy to chime in, her little head held high. Why wouldn't you be? Thank you, Guarath. He was genuinely a touch amused, but the most he could manage at the moment was a soft snort instead of much of a laugh. We'll have to see what happens from here, though.

B’den and Green Riojath Poor / What's Exercise? 3/3 Third Leg
Several long moments passed. Are you ready to finish Mine? We are almost there. Let us finish this together. There was nothing but love and affection in the green's thoughts and eyes. B'den slowly nodded and the green pulled back her wings as she stood up. B'den scrubbed at her face, smearing some mud left there by one of her falls.
Crying hadn't helped the tightness in her chest. Yes let's go. Side by side the pair headed for the beach. B'den limping on the leg that had been whacked by dragon tail.
Total: +1
First Leg 8-9. You're just running. It's wet, and you're cold, and neither pleased nor displeased by all of this. At least the Weyr Lake is pretty in the rain. [+1 point]
1. You fall right into a puddle. You're not even sure what caused you to slip, but you are wet and muddy now. Gross! [-1 Point] (If you roll this a second time in any of the prompts, you find mud going into cracks you weren't even aware you had Eww!. [-1 Point] If you roll this a third time, you're going to catch a cold come the next morning! [-1 Point]
6-7. This. Sucks. Not only are you wet and cold but running? Really? You've only just begun and already you're panting for breath. You can tell this is going to be a very long run--and even if you're known to be a runner, for some reason, you're just not felling it. [+1 Point] If you're in Poor Shape, add another point, because you know when to listen to your body, and not push it. And right now, it does not want to be pushed. [+1 Point] Total: +1 -1 +1 +1 (+1 from Riojath) = +3 (-2 from Guarath) = +1
Second Leg 1. You thought you were doing well, but an errant weyrling winds up running right into you! While you're certainly not trampled, both rider and dragonet wind up tangled and muddy! Randomize Publicy an Active Weyrling to see which Weyrling was the offender and quote them so they know!! (Only choose those that are participating in the game!) Then roll a D-4 and see what happens! - 3. You wind up getting pushed to one side and right into the actual weyrlake! Water is now soaking right into your clothes and you feel quite uncomfortable and cold. Ugh. Your temper is also gone and you have no more spoons--you'll be irritable the rest of the afternoon.
10. You fall right into a puddle. You're not even sure what caused you to slip, but you are wet and muddy now. Gross! (If you roll this a second time in any of the prompts, you find mud going into cracks you weren't even aware you had Eww!. If you roll this a third time, you're going to catch a cold come the next morning! (Second time rolling)
2-3. Halfway through! At least, you think you're about halfway through. You're really getting winded now, and it is very tempting to slow down or stop. Still, you push on. You're getting close to the feeding pens--and need to encourage your dragon to keep running so they don't stop and scare the herdbeasts. If you feel a little hungry, and the herdbeasts look a little tasty, you know fully that's just your dragon's doing! [+1 point] Total: +0 +0 +1 (-1 from Riojath) = 0
Third Leg 2-3. You were born to run! At least, that's how you're feeling. You're not sure how but you find yourself feeling the need to sprint. Now's the time, right? The end is right there. Let's give it our all and sprint as fast as we can! [+2 Points] If you're of an Active fitness level, sprinting comes naturally. Gain an extra point. [+1 active] 8-9. Just keep going. The beach is right there! Ugh. You're tired, sweaty, wet, and thirsty. Surely, you can cross that finish line without incident, right? Roll a D4. Odds, you find yourself hit with a weyrling dragons tail! Which weyrling? The Weyrling who posted above you (or the first person above you other than yourself). The tail takes you out and sends you tumbling into a heap. Whether or not there's any minor damage is up to you--but you're sure going to be smarting as you limp to the finish line. [-4 points] Evens, you're able to duck away in time, though it was awfully close. Watch where you're going, road hog! :V [+2 points] ODD- Blue Isteth 6-7. You might have been going on along with a steady clip, but you're feeling the burn now. Your chest is tight, you're gasping for air, but the end is so close. The sooner you're over, the better. Unfortunately, your body seems to give out near the end. You drop into a walk, or stop completely as you gasp for breath. Your dragon and Orioth croon encouragement, even as you strive to keep on moving. [+1 Point] If you're of Average fitness, earn an extra point since it's easier to recuperate and recover. Time to get moving to finish this up! [+1 Point] Total: +2 -4 +1 (+1 from Riojath)= 0

[ lyfrocier and green guarath ] [ average shape - dragon grid ] [ roll 4/4 | points: 7 ]
Seeing as Lyfrocier was doing so well, Guarath was more than confident about their spot in the rankings. Her mind was more than made up about their eventual 'victory,' but she allowed herself just a moment of distraction as a reward--there were plenty of perfectly clear puddles, left unclouded due to a few careful steps around them. She began to slow her pace bit by bit, her attention shifting as a plan began to form in her mind.
Unfortunately, it didn't take long for her to execute said plan.
With what she knew to be a rather impressive pounce, Guarath landed quite solidly in the center of one of the puddles, sending water everywhere around her. In the time it had taken her to prepare, however, the splash zone had certainly changed--she watched in abject horror as an arc of water collided with Lyfrocier, covering his weather gear from the waist down in a mix of water and mud.
Oh. And--B'den and Riojath were there too, she guessed.
"Sorry about that--" Lyfrocier half-called to them, hardly stopping. Guarath, now sufficiently sheepish, picked up the pace to get back to her rider's side, sticking a little closer than before.
-----
Quote: Your dragon is too distracted by puddles to want to race. Quote the weyrling above you, and start splashing them with mud and water. This does wind up affecting both your own rider and the fellow weyrling. Your rider might be upset (or distracted) and the weyrling you just splashed might be feeling irate, or some other emotion. You're all even more soaked. Boo. [You both lose -2 points]

[ lyfrocier and green guarath ] [ average shape - second grid ] [ roll 1/4 | points: 8 ]
In spite of her fresh faux-pas, Riojath was still complimenting her? Excellent. Guarath straightened up just a bit, adding a hint of almost showmanlike flair to her gait--her ego had been sated, and that was all she needed. It wasn't quite as fulfilling as a compliment from Lyfrocier, but it would have to do. Why, thank you. Her mindvoice was practically a purr, any hint of her previous embarrassment thoroughly removed. You're correct, though! Mine always does take the best possible care of me--a little extra polish never hurt a diamond, mm?
Speaking of Hers--he'd pulled ahead a little, what with his Green distracted by the compliments. Guarath turned back just in time to watch in abject horror as Lyfrocier stumbled, cursing as the toe of his boot caught on some unseen object; being such a large man made his fall seem to take forever, but in no time at all, he'd landed in a heap face-down in a mud-filled puddle with an unfortunate wet slap. Oh. Oh no.

Aerden and Blue Tianxiath Fit/In Great Shape Tianxiath Roll! Points: 14
"Don't worry about it." Aerden responded between breaths. He knew the little (compared to her siblings) green hadn't meant any harm, and he certainly wouldn't hold it against her. He'd taken worse hits in his former line of work, thankfully. Judging from his companions, he'd gotten off lightly.
Tianxiath wasn't about to hold grudges either, suddenly distracted. Don't fret, Triesteth. I don't blame you. I couldn't keep my claws off him either! But enough about that. Guarath was looking rather fetching today despite the mud and grime, as Riojath had clearly noticed. Oh, don't worry about Yours, Guarath. With you at his side, they'll be too distracted to even notice a bit of mud! The blue slowed his pace to eye her a bit better, all too willing to be distracted.
Only Aerden's mental tug was enough to make him move on.
Quote: 2-3. Oh, look at all those handsome clutchmates! Your dragon seems more interested in trailing behind than putting in much effort. There are cute boys (or girls, or both) to admire, after all. And that one in particular has suddenly caught your dragons eye. Quote the Weyrling dragon above you so you can spend a little time gazing at their fine tail, and send them a bit of personal encouragement. [+1 Point]

[ lyfrocier and green guarath ] [ average shape - second grid ] [ roll 2/4 | points: 9 ]
Shards, shells, Faranth, and everything else. There was mud everywhere. Lyfrocier had to grope around in the mud to find his glasses, gritting his teeth harder the longer he went without them. Guarath was quite rapidly at his side, and she turned her focus toward helping him--she spread one wing over his head, hoping to act as a bit of a shield from the rain until he could get back on his feet properly. With the little Green's aid, he was able to squint long enough to find them, although cleaning them was going to be an entirely new hell. Why did it have to be raining--
Oh, Tianxiath. You flatterer~ Guarath's smug satisfaction at being the center of attention was more than a little bit at war with her concern for Hers, but she still had the good sense to respond to her sibling at the very least. I certainly hope so. This is...rather unpleasant. With any luck, though, it won't get any worse, and we'll both be able to get this mud off of us soon so we can shine properly.
As if on cue, things just had to get worse.
Lyfrocier had just sat up and put his glasses back on, having smudged away some of the mud with his hands and brusquely rinsing them off in a less disturbed puddle until they were more or less clean. With a roiling displeasure firmly settled in his chest, he'd decided to get this whole thing over with as soon as possible--he didn't want to be out here any longer than he had to, and the faster he finished, the less time it would be before he could get rid of his impromptu face mask. A Bronze missile from behind ruined that plan in an instant, however. Before Lyfrocier could even properly get his composure back together, he was once again facedown in the mud, with a pile of limbs wrestling atop him for a few moments before Guarath was able to wriggle herself free. The-- The audacity! Guarath was almost shrieking, rage filling every bit of her tiny body as she hissed and trumpeted for the whole weyr to hear. I can't believe this-- WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!
Lyfrocier simply pushed himself up slowly, not saying a word. His face was a blank, stony mask, glasses once again absent; with a surprising amount of calm, he picked them up again, repeating his prior cleaning process as though he'd practiced it a hundred times. When he finally spoke, his voice was steady and even, hardly indicative of the internal stress currently filling him.
"I hate this."
