Round 2 - Day 2 - Roll 2: General Grid
Bronze Vedmath: 8/16 HP
Held saves: 0

Quote:
2. Your dragon swoops down to flame a writhing silvery Thread, but your riding straps are just a little bit loose. The sudden fear of feeling yourself lift just a bit higher in the straps than you like is terrifying as you fear you might slide off. Furthermore, when your dragon swoops back up to return to formation, you're forcefully returned to your seat! You're able to tighten the leg strap with shaky hands, and were never at risk of actually falling off, but it's not an experience you want to feel again. Your tailbone is going to object for a few days. -1 HP Rider Damage.

Would that strap shaffing stay tight already?! Dezerac swore to himself when he came down hard again, and tightened the offending leg strap. Again.

4. No Thread is near you, and there's nothing really to be done. The winds are calm and you're in good spirits. You've got this. A moment to think, a moment to breathe. Look at you, fighting Thread like a real rider!

Tsunake

Dezerac took advantage of a few moments of calm wind and no Thread within their vicinity to check and preemptively tighten up their straps before they could come loose again, the shaffing things. So far they had only caused a few heart-stopping scares and a soreness somewhere he would really rather not have, but he wasn't going to chance worse.

Meanwhile, Vedmath hummed warmly in response to the well-wishes sent by one of the junior weyrlings. Thank you, Baihath.

Dive. Slip. Crack. Tug.

D'mar had shaffing had it. He was going to be hobbling to the healer after this, undoubtedly, and he was burning those damn loose straps.

Held saves: 0

3. Your dragon spots a silver strand of Thread. You visualize the space you need to go to flame it, but don't take into account the wind, or your dragon's flight speed. Instead, you appear Between but have completely overshot your airspace and are now out in the open, exposed, and with no Thread anywhere near you. Shaffit all! Don't you look the fool. Whoops.

Brancath let out a frustrated KEEN as she and Hers missed the Thread by a good meter, the pair appearing from Between a little too far away. Isilje made a face, but quickly popped them back Between to get back to the fighting.

Betwixt the calm winds, and the encouraging words of her lovely Golden mother and her brother, Brancath was practically purring. Her rider was doing so well, and she'd shown EVERYONE what a LADY could do. After all, there were things that women were better suited to that men could not possibly match. Isilje on the other hand was smiling, following the Wing with quiet resolve, her violet eyes shining in pride behind her red goggles.

White Brancath: 3/8 HP
Held saves: 0

1. You appear from Between..... directly into a clump of Thread. It sears through your dragons wingsails, and you can feel it tangling up on your leg! The wherhide fabric doesn't seem to offer any protection at all, shaffit all! You finally remember to visualize and go Between, but you're certainly hurting. -5 HP Threadscore.

The pair had decided to go after a larger clump, one that was going to be a threat if it kept falling. Isilje was the one to set the coordinates Between, and they popped in....then out, and then there was a loud cry.

A keen of pain from the tiny white as Thread seared her right wingsail, tangling around her foreleg, and Isilje's leg as well. Even the girl SCREAMED in pain, the wherhide giving way to the burrowing thread. IT took a full minute before the pair managed to remember to flick Between, staying there.

One
Two
Three...
Four....
It was then that they at last reappeared, tears blurring Isilje's eyes as she clung to her beloved's back. Soon....They were almost headding back, and then they could get tended to...Brancath didn't want to go back yet...

Round 2 - day 2- roll 5 - General
Blue Micheth
Hp: 6/12
Saves: 1

Despite all that could have gone wrong, Micheth found himself feeling positive. See? Thread wasn’t so scary after all. A few scars were nothing to worry about. He wasn’t altogether sure why his rider was so fretful. This was easy! They’d only gotten threaded once!

Mine, look. We’re doing just as well as any dragon, he said, encouragingly. They could do this.

5. It's a classic textbook maneuver. An ugly strand of Thread is falling down, drifting, blowing, squirming on the wind. If it stays course it will put it right in your airspace. Your dragon shifts position, veers, and manages to catch the tangle with a belch of flame. Nothing to this Thread thing, nope!

Since the ill-fated hatch, Vimiath and her rider had not flown Thread very often. Vimiath’s stamina had not waned, but Talela couldn’t handle frequent shifts. Today, on the day of her children’s first Blooding, they were not on the flight roster. Whether it might not be coincidence did occur to them, but they were satisfied with working among the newest weyrlings, bagging stone and stationing Vimiath as a buffer to calm injured dragons.

Though she was outwardly working hard on soothing the dragons that dropped down into the bowl for treatment, the gold was uncharacteristically attentive to her children. She’d always been a prideful, detached queen, thinking of her children as distant friends at best and not concerning herself with their affairs… but her bond with this clutch had been forged through disaster after disaster on the sands, and was unforgettably marked by both the loss and return of her beloved Talela. She reached out to each one in turn, encouraging them as they fought against their mortal enemy.

She watched as the healers and O’len took care of Aleyath’s first score, sending waves of comfort and praise for his hard work. It will be all right, Aleyath. You have fought so bravely for your first time! She continued to follow him with her thoughts as he returned to the sky, giving him one last brush of affection before he winked back into the fray.

Knowing he was afraid, she crooned softly to Loreleth, reaching out with impressions of being gently stroked, and of her wing cupping him close. Many of her past children had succumbed to Thread, but theseFaranth, preserve them all. She hoped she would not have to lose any of them.

Strigonth, my dear, you did a fine job as Wingsecond, she praised. As we both knew you would. Your rider deserves a compliment as well. Do tell him so for me. Her eyes momentarily flushed with an impish yellow-green. And, by all means, let us know if we should prepare a cushion or three for him to rest on when your shift is over.

Hessianth, you have been an excellent example to your wingmates already. You will easily handle your duties as Wingsecond, and I am certain they will trust your judgment.

My handsome Illiandinth, how brightly you shine. Such courage in your first fall, and not even a scratch on your splendid hide for your troubles.

Her eyes whirled red, then yellow as a certain green was painfully scored and expressed her unhappiness. Dokkaeth, hold on a bit longer, it’s almost over! The pain won’t last long, and we’ll have all the time in the world to play once you are safely returned to the bowl—if you still have the energy, that is!

Micheth, you have such a good attitude. Keep encouraging your rider! She will come to trust you—threadfighting is in your blood, after all—and you will both get the hang of this!

What an exemplary bronze you are, Vedmath. You’ve taken your scoring with dignity, and then taken your revenge right back on Thread! If the pain grows too great, my dear, please do come down for a short while. No one would fault you for it, and you will have all the more strength to flame when you return.

Brancath! Impressive flying and flaming, my darling! You are doing wonderfully. I look forward to seeing your white hide appearing above me, coming home safely.

Throughout it all, she kept tabs on Therianth, becoming more and more concerned as the wave went on. Not much longer, dearest, but please take care. If it is hurting too much, you can come and rest and the healers will bring numbweed. Thread will be falling for many turns to come, and I would prefer that you not fall with it today!

Round 2 - Day 2 - Roll 4: WINGSECOND GRID
Brown Hessianth: 14/14 hp - Acting Wingsecond
Held saves: 0

Quote:
You are inspiring and a natural! Your dragon gives encouragement to those who need it, and an impassioned speech. You're really getting into this, and you definitely are feeling great. You're such a beacon of hope to the rest of your fellow weyrlings that they too seem inspired to keep up the fight. All weyrlings currently fighting Thread get +3 HP!

Maybe it was the words of inspiration from their mother, but Hessianth absolutely beamed with pride at her encouragement - and it showed in how he flew, offering warm thrums of affection to his siblings and their golden mother. For some there is not much farther to press on! Keep it up! For those who will remain in the air for much longer, may safe winds blow beneath your wings and serve you well! He didn't need say much more when mother had already said so much, after all!

Day 2 / Round 2 / Roll 2: General Grid
Brown Aleyath: 7/14 HP
Held saves: 0

And then, with fully tightened straps and the memory of Vimiath's and Hessianth's encouragement on their minds, O'len and Aleyath just... fought Thread for a while. It was going well. Then it wasn't.

They popped Between to get closer to a clump of falling thread, and when they appeared again, they were far too close. The brown panicked less than he had for his earlier, smaller injury, teleporting back into the cold void and then home once more.

A'te and the Green Dokkaeth
Round 2 - Day 2 - Roll 1: General Grid
Green Dokkaeth: 10/10 hp
Held saves: 0

With encouragement from her mother and sibling Dokkaeth took back to the sky a little more excited then she had when she landed. The pain lingered and it served as a reminder that she had to cautious they both did as A’te eyed where they were in the sky. There was thread, floating down as Dokkaeth huffed some flaming breath to make it disappear.
