It started out slow, but eventually a conversation between the two was initiated and with a content smile Olvia watched as the two got to know each other, or at least that was what she could surmise was happening; eventually the air was filled with the sound of excited squeaks and even-toned 'Bisharp's. It was good to know that her starter was getting along with her partner, from the years she'd spent with Valerian she knew that the Bisharp was patient enough to get along with even the most incorrigible pokemon, luckily Cyndaquil was slowly revealing herself to be an agreeable pokemon. It was just a shame that she couldn't say the same about Poppy.
"Is this all of us then? We're a rather small team," Cyndaquil observed, her nose twitching once more as the wind brought forth a new set of smells. She was excited to finally get out, stretch her legs, and finally explore farther than the laboratory she'd been born and raised in. "No," Valerian shook her head, and from the corner of her eye she glanced at her trainer. "We have another member, but Olivia's chosen not to introduce her yet, and for good reason too." Cyndaquil tilted her head to the side, curious at the other's vague reply. "What's that reason?" she eventually inquired, curiosity piqued, only to have Valerian refuse to answer with a shake of her head. "She isn't an easy pokemon to get along with."

Another few minutes passed, in which Olivia used to check her communicator impatiently so that she could intercept any call the moment it came, as well as to allow her pokemon to become better acquainted with each other. Once ten minutes managed to trickle by, however, she gave up on her phone call to give her team the attention they needed. "Alright you two." The trainer clapped her hands together, the sharp sound causing them to disperse and turn their attention to her expectantly, Valerian's gaze more focused than Cyndaquil's.
"We'll be moving on soon, but until then let's get some training in." Olivia placed both hands on her hips, her expression shifting into an austere expression. "First things first, Cyndaquil," she addressed the starter with a long, fixed stare. "You need a name," she concluded and after a moment she aimed her pointer finger in her direction, thumb pointing skywards to make for a gun motion. "Your name is Cayenne, I'll call you Cay at times." Cyndaquil squeaked and puffed out her cheeks, fire flaring out on her back to show her approval of her new name. Olivia chuckled before her gaze slide over to something past the pokemon, "atta girl! Now, keep that ferocity up for your first battle."
She jerked her chin the direction of a Geodude as confusion slowly dawned on Cayenne's face. Olivia didn't allow that emotion to remain for too long, however. "Show me whatcha got, Cay, let's start off with a tackle."

Olivia gave a light smattering of applause as Cayenne toddled back towards her, her head swinging from side to side in light irritation. Even if she'd come out victorious in her first battle, her side had started to throb from ramming it against the rocky body of the Geodude. "You did a good job," she congratulated and dropped down to inspect the pokemon for any outstanding bruises. Her fingers danced over the fire mouse's body, nodding in approval when Cayenne stiffened but relaxed when the slim digits passed over her sore area; this meant that it was nothing serious. Her soft body just wasn't used to physically taking on other pokemon.
"We'll just have to change that," Olivia murmured, speaking her thoughts aloud. "Take a moment to catch your breath Cay," she instructed, gaze already sweeping around the area to try and spot their next battle. With a grateful sigh Cay did just that, flopping to her belly with an exaggerated sigh. Valerian looked down to the resting pokemon before she shook her head good-naturedly, getting her in shape would prove a tad difficult.

Olivia rocked on her feet, shifting her weight onto her right foot, and pursed her lips gently as she looked out towards the town, barren of any pokemon-- or at least any that were wild; at one point a Rattata did scamper across her field of vision, but it was accompanied by its trainer, a young boy around the age of eight, which meant that it wasn't an option. Finally a bit of luck came to the them in the form of a wayfaring Pidgey, who alighted on the ground only a few feet away to begin pecking at the grass. "Well there we go." She introduced the opportunity with a wave of the hand, motioning for Cayenne to take the avian-like pokemon on. "You shouldn't have any trouble with this one, Cay, go ahead and use Tackle."
Cayenne drew herself up slowly and allowed a bit of fire to burst upon her back, her way of showing her trainer that she was ready, before she charged forward with a battle-cry. Olivia gave a soft chuckle and turned to Valerian, a smirk on her lips. "She remind you of anyone?" she teased, her head turning back to the battle when squawked in indignation. Valerian shifted her arms across her chest, crossing them loosely, in lieu of offering a response. Not even a minute passed before Cayenne returned to them, her chest puffed out in obvious pride. Her fire flared up, before dying out, and with a squeak she nudged her trainer's shin in an attempt to earn recognition of her victory. "You did good, spitfire," Olivia reassured her and crouched down to pat her head. "Keep it up, yeah, and soon enough you'll be as strong as Val." Cayenne tipped her head curiously, snout turning up to Valerian. "Cynda..." she murmured curiously, obviously intrigued by the idea.

With her trainer's permission, Cayenne was given another break, at least until the next pokemon appeared, but instead of resting she took it upon herself to begin exploring, finally able to get a good look at the town that had been all but inaccessible until now. She snuffled around the tall grass, peering past the foliage, all the while aware that she was being watched by Valerian. She felt no hostility in her gaze but rather, mild curiosity; she was most likely just simply keeping an eye out on her. She found it touching, and with the assurance that someone was watching her back she courageously stepped farther into the grass, splitting in half the sea of green.
While her pokemon went about exploring their surroundings Olivia went back to checking her XTransceiver, her fingers pressing down on the buttons to flip through a few screens, all blank; no incoming calls, no missed calls, no voice mails left behind. Now, she wasn't the impatient kind... well she wasn't too impatient, but she'd been promised a call. Feh, the office was most likely busy; no use in calling them. Leaning her head back, with her face directed towards the sun, she closed her eyes to think for a moment. There was no harm in moving forward, was there? She knew the plan, all she really needed was confirmation from the higher-ups. The pinkette was still thinking when her communicator began to vibrate with a call, causing her blue eyes to flash open. Olivia dropped her chin down to inspect the caller, her mouth turning into a disappointed frown when she saw that it was her brother. Not that getting a call from the family was a necessarily bad thing... she had just assumed the call was from work; she'd gotten her hopes up.
Olivia didn't allow the call to go past three rings before she answered, her brother's face filling up the screen a moment later. "Y'ello?"

"Hey Olive!" Freddy chirped and after a moment readjusted himself, pulling back so that his face didn't fill the entire screen; he must've been looming down onto the watch. "How goes the policing? You catch any baddies yet?" Olivia snorted, eyes rising up to the high-heavens. "In case you couldn't tell, I'm rolling my eyes," she told the teenager, but even she couldn't fight the smile that tugged at her lips. "It's fine, as usual, and no I haven't. If I had, I assure you you'd have seen my names in the paper by now."
The woman leaned back casually, ankles crossed and right wrist twisted upwards so that she could peer down at her XTransceiver from a comfortable angle. "So, you miss me or do you need something?" she asked, her eyes drawing away from the screen just long enough to check on her pokemon. Valerian was right where she'd left her, her gaze trained on the rustling grass that was Cayenne as she moved about through it. "Why can't it be both?" Freddy quipped back, to which she shrugged her shoulders. "It can be. But if that's the case tell me what you need, I'm expecting a call."
"Licorice misses you," he stated, getting right to the point. "She also says she still hates her name, but that isn't as important." Olivia nodded slowly, taking in this information, but held back from speaking yet. She knew her brother well enough to know that there was more to it than just her pokemon missing her-- and vocalizing an already well-known fact. "She also managed to... pick up a pokemon while you were gone. I think it imprinted on her or something, it never leaves her alone." She raised an eyebrow at that, clearly surprised. "..I didn't take her for the motherly type," she mused. "What kind of pokemon is it?" There was a pause, and with a dubious expression settling in she watched as her brother made a face. "That's... the thing," he started off slowly.
"We're not really too sure."

Olivia pursed her lips and squinted down at the screen, narrowed eyes boring into the fifteen year old. "...You did that on purpose," she accused, breaking the silence that had fallen onto the call. "Did what?" Freddy asked, readjusting his XTransceiver once more, which caused his image to shake. "Got quiet after you said that to leave things ominous. Stop trying to leave me in suspense and just tell me what we're dealing with, is it a pokemon from one of the regions?" The teen scoffed before breaking out into a sly grin, "yeah, alright, sorry for trying to add a little excitement," he apologized with a chuckle, but grew a bit more somber from there. "It's not. though. Mom checked and couldn't find anyone who recognized it."
Olivia huffed lightly, curiosity now piqued, but again she held her tongue. "Anyway, it's been causing a lot of trouble for us. It keeps scaring away all the trainers that come in, barking and growling like it's going to attack one of them. The only one it'll listen to is Licorice." Uh-oh, she saw where this was going. "Sooo, since it's being a nuisance and Li has started complaining about being bored we're going to send them to you!" Olivia scratched the back of her head with a free hand, eyebrows furrowing together. Yup, she knew it. "..Alright, when can I expect them to--""Good day, Olivia."
Half-way through her inquiry Olivia jumped when she was interrupted by a voice from behind her, spinning around to face the stranger with widened eyes. She relaxed a moment later when the 'stranger' turned out to be nothing more than a shiny Mega Gardevoir, whose usual elegant appearance was tarnished by the addition of a 'leech': a Sableye who stood on its shoulder with an arm slung over its eyes, momentarily blinding it. "Right now!" Freddy's voice called out into the air and Olivia looked back down at her watch. "Artemis knew where you were, so I just had her teleport them to you."

As Olivia looked from between Artemis and her watch her own pokemon took notice of the new arrival, which, in Cayenne's eyes, garnered a bit of investigation. She popped her head out of the grass, taking in the sight of the unfamiliar pokemon, before she slowly crept out and began to inch towards them. Valerian did the same, at a much faster pace, but relaxed when she saw who all was there. "Bisharp," (Well met, Artemis) she greeted the psychic.
Artemis turned her head in the direction of Olivia's XTransceiver, where her trainer's voice had sounded from. "I've brought them both to your sister, Freddy," she reported, only to wince as Licorice's claws began to dig into her shoulders. "Thanks a bunch, Artemis! You can come back home now," Freddy chirped before he addressed his sister one final time. "I'll call you soon, m'kay? Take care!" He waved wildly into the screen before with one final goodbye he ended their call. Olivia looked up when the Mega Gardevoir drew closer and in one fluid motion she'd removed Licorice from off her person and deposited her onto the woman's shoulder. From there she yanked her skirt back, revealing an odd, black-furred, canine-esque pokemon that had been apparently been hiding underneath her.
Artemis stepped back from there before she curtsied, dismissing herself. "Have a good day, Olivia, Valerian," she murmured before she teleported away, leaving the pinkette alone with now five pokemon.

Olivia turned her head forty-five degrees to the left, which put Licorice in her line of sight. "So, you missed me, huh?" The Sableye stared at her with her usual empty gaze before she broke out into a crooked grin, sharp teeth glittering. "Maaaaaybe," she sang before she made herself comfortable on her trainer's shoulder, feet kicking out a moment later. Her gems shined brightly as she scanned the pokemon before her, one clawed hand shooting up to wave warmly at Valerian, though she stopped short when she heard growling. All eyes fell onto the newest pokemon, whose demeanor had changed drastically: hackles raised and paws digging into the ground, with its teeth bared it glared daggers in Olivia's general direction.
Valerian stiffened before she shifted into a battle-ready stance, prepared to protect her trainer, but Olivia only raised an eyebrow before she turned back to Licorice. "Alright, alright. I've got this," she assured them and hopped down to the ground, wobbling lightly when she landed, to stride confidently over to the hostile pokemon. "Blue, stop this!" With both hands she squished his face and yanked his head to press against hers. 'Blue' calmed down immediately, plopping down onto his rear with his tail wagging. Licorice, having expected this reaction, continued on, "I told you about this human, remember? She's good people, so that means not attacking her." Blue whined before he licked her chin, expressing his understanding, before he pulled back to look at Olivia. Not an ounce of trust filled his gaze, but at the very least he didn't look like he was going to attack again.
Licorice spun on her heel, turning back around to face Olivia, and with one hand placing itself onto Blue's head she introduced him, "Olivia meet Blue, he's my son." She ruffled his fur, earning another furious tail wag from him. "Ain't he cute? He takes after me."

The corner of Olivia's mouth twitched as she raised an eyebrow, looking between Licorice and Blue, but before she could begin questioning his heritage her XTransceiver began to vibrate with yet another call, this one from work. Huh, it seemed Freddy's call had caused a domino effect, that or they were finally getting around to calling. She answered the call on its first ring, sliding Licorice a look that translated to 'we'll finish this conversation later', before she turned her full attention to the screen, where a flustered brunette could now be seen.
The brunette heaved a sigh, brushed a few wild strands out of her face, and cleared her throat. "Hey Olivia, sorry for the wait." The woman pushed herself off the building, using the motion to spur her forward and away from the more populated areas. Her pokemon followed suit, Blue needing a bit of a nudge from Licorice before he fell into line. "Oh it's no big deal, Sydney, it wasn't like I was just staring at my screen, waiting for a call," she assured the other with a half-lie before she offered an easy smile. Yeah, that was totally believable. "...Well, good. I assume you got your starter and pokedex?"
Olivia gave a non-verbal nod, slowing down as she grew closer to the town's limits, in the distance Route 29 could be seen, with tall grass bordering its trail. "Excellent! What name did you give?" the woman questioned, and in the background she could hear the sound of words slowly being typed out onto a keyboard, Sydney was going to show off her one-handed typing skills. "Olive Miller," she reported, though a frown soon etched itself onto her lips when the other snorted. "Really? Olive Miller, you couldn't have tried for a more believable fake name?" The officer scoffed and placed a hand to her chest, offended, though the latter went unnoticed due to the rather unfortunate head-crop of the XTransceiver.
"Hey, I could have gone with Olive Branch," she pointed out, to which Sydney wrinkled her nose. "...Yeah okay, I guess 'Olive Miller' isn't the worst name you could have come up with," she conceded. Olivia gave a firm nod of the head, "thank you."

Olivia played with her bangs, curling the loose strands around her index finger absently, keeping herself semi-occupied as Sydney tapped away on a computer off-screen, logging in the information that she'd been told thus far. The woman turned her attention back to her watch when a lull in the typing started, then stopped altogether. "So!" The brunette started their conversation back up, once again pushing back her hair. "What starter did you get?" she asked, natural curiosity seeping into the standard question; the woman actually liked pokemon, which meant she held a genuine interest in hearing about Olivia's newest pokemon.
"A Cyndaquil," she announced before she flipped her wrist over, panning over so that Sydney could see Cayenne. Olivia spun her watch back over in the next second, only to be greeted with a dead-pan from the other. She raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong?" The brunette fidgeted for a moment before she spoke, "...Fennekin..." she muttered, which only caused Olivia to purse her lips, eyebrows now furrowing. "Fenne-what? Sydney speak up, you're mumbling.""Fennekin, why didn't you get a Fennekin?" Olivia huffed, even as her expression relaxed and she laughed. "Maybe because I have no idea what that is, not to mention they didn't offer it," she replied, tone hinting to how obvious an answer that was.
"...No one told you?" Those four words were enough to wipe the smile off her face, replaced with a tight-lipped frown. "Told me what?" Olivia asked. She got the feeling that she wouldn't like the answer provided to her. "...The transfer," Sydney squeaked and a moment later the sound of papers being ruffled could be heard in the background. "You were supposed to head to Kalos, the newest region, because they were understaffed. Team Flare.. flared up again.."
Olivia tuned her out when she began to jabber, ignoring the unintentional pun she'd made, and instead focused on the world around her. With a frown still implanted firmly on her lips she spun on her heels and began to march back into New Bark, the opposite direction she'd been headed in before. The 180 degree turn took her pokemon for a loop, Valerian and Licorice saying a look, but eventually they all began to follow after her.

Olivia didn't stop until she arrived at the train station, hands resting on her hips as she peered up at the board for ticket prices. "Sydney," she spoke sharply, cutting into the younger woman's ramblings. "You said I'm supposed to go to Kalos, correct?" Sydney closed her mouth, swallowed, and then gave a firm nod of the head. "Yeah, right. Kalos. Your assignment hasn't changed: go through the region and learn about the team, stop any and all crime you might come across, learn about any new plans Team Flare might have come up with." The trainer hummed in understanding and dropped her hand down just long enough to purchase a ticket to Kalos, afterwards moving over to sit at a bench to wait for her train.
She crossed her left leg over her right and let her right arm rest atop her thigh, a heavy exhale escaping her lungs. "I'm not going to ask whose fault this is," she started slowly. "Because that doesn't matter. What does matter is that I'm about to get on a train and start in the right region." There was no use in trying to track someone done, at least not through a communicator, she'd have to wait until she was back at the station. Then she'd give whoever was responsible a piece of her mind. How were they even supposed to catch villains when they couldn't even get something as simple as communicating right?
"That's the spirit!" Sydney chirped, quickly recovering from her tizzy. "I'll have a few items sent your way, they should be there by the time you arrive." Olivia only grunted in response, her eyes drawing up to her pokemon so that she could debrief them. "So! Change of plan guys, we're headed to Kalos. I can't imagine it'll be much of a change from Johto, but we'll have to see for ourselves once we get there." Valerian nodded responded immediately with a curt nod, the other three taking a few seconds longer to completely understand what this meant.
Olivia offered a smile before she unhooked a pokeball, expanding it and returning her Bisharp. She was too large to fit inside the cart, which the pokemon herself understood. The other three she allowed to remain out, Blue because she didn't the pup would even allow himself to be put inside a pokeball, and she could only imagine the rampage he might try to go on if Licorice was returned. Cayenne was kept out simply because she thought the fire-type might enjoy the new mode of transportation.
Olivia stood to her feet when her train pulled up to the station, motioning for the three still out to follow her. "Well, I've got to go now, the train's here," she spoke, turning one more to her XTransceiver. "Understood! Good luck out there, call in if you ever run into any trouble," Sydney instructed before ending their call. She stretched afterwards, wrapping one arm languidly behind her neck as the train's automatic doors slid open before she stepped inside, Cayenne toddling after her.
Blue was a bit more hesitant, sniffing at the strange contraption only to begin to growl at the scent of multiple humans that wafted from it. "Now, now." Licorice chasstised him as she picked him up, cutting him off mid-growl. "It's fine, there aren't any other humans on here." Now carrying his weight she waddled onto the train, awkwardly finding herself a seat on the floor near Olivia.

-]The young woman, a priestess in training, and now a pokemon trainer as well. It was most certainly a curious thought. And yet...She still had not physically seen any of her pokemon as of yet. For sure, she knew that there was one, with the possibility of another two from her previous journeys, ones that she had never even known about. Oh, she did hope that they were okay, if they were even there. Akela pulled one of the mystery balls out of her satchel and turned it over in her hands. "Better to meet each of them one at a time, I suppose...I don't want to be overwhelmed..." she stated, thinking out loud. The girl had to fiddle with the ball a bit before figuring out how it opened. She then screamed and dropped the ball as it let out a brilliant flash of red light.[- -]When the light cleared, it had materialized into an adorable little puppy with pearl colored fur that now stood before the girl. It seemed more than okay, it seemed downright happy to see Akela, and immediately pounced onto her chest, licking her face all over.[- -]The sudden assault from the happy puppy's tongue made Akela giggle and she had soon forgotten her alarm at the device that held this creature. She simply hugged the Lupup tight and continued to giggle as it licked her.[-

-]Akela spent some time getting to know the Lupup and playing with it. They rolled around in the grass for a bit and she was laughing and having a good time. She believed that she was really starting to get a feel for this pokemon, and it was such a cutie. She almost didn't want to move on to the next one. Akela knew that she had to do this, however, because she needed to get herself used to how these baubles worked and who her new partners were to be. Reluctantly, Akela picked the ball back up and once more tried to activate it. It took her a few minutes' worth of fiddling again, but then a red beam lanced out of the button, snaring her puppy and drawing it inside the ball. The girl managed to not scream this time, and she also managed to not drop the ball, but her entire body locked up for several moments in fear. When the girl could move again, she tucked the ball back into her satchel and drew out the oddly colored one. She hoped it worked the same way as the previous one, and tried the last thing she did to activate it. A flash of red light escaped this ball too, making the girl clench, but otherwise it seemed as though she was starting to get used to it. It would be a long time before she was comfortable, yes, but at least she would be able to stop herself from panicking...she hoped.[- -]From out of the ball materialized an odd looking little pokemon that seemed to have something like a cloak or a hat wrapped around it, hiding it's true body. "Runt!" it exclaimed, sounding cheerful and plodded over, rubbing up against Akela's bare leg. As it neared, the girl was able to feel the temperature drop a little in response to the Snurunt's cold body.[- -]When the pokemon made contact with her leg, however, Akela could feel a chill run through her whole body and she knew at once that this must be one of those ice types that she had been hoping to get. She knelt downa nd hugged the Snorunt tight, despite how cold doing so was...especially in her skimpy tropical garb.[-
