The ginger's head lifted and his eyebrows rose when Sebastian listed the location of the beauty contest. "Lilycove? Ya don' say... Well, that ain't too far from thuh train station if'n ah recall right. Might need ta go ta slateport ta catch a boat, though... Don' recall Lilycove bein' too accessible..." He reached up, absently brushing the back of his hand along his jaw as he thought over what he recalled of Hoenn's geography. The place was lousy with ports and transportation; he was fairly sure it would be an easy enough trip. They could double check once they arrived, though. And if he needed, he could use his device to help orient himself a bit, too. That was a whole train ride from now, though.
As they neared the city, Mimey perked up, still scurrying her way along Jay's side. Mary Lee suddenly let herself out of her pokeball, too, shaking and giving a happy cry as she looked up at the city. Jay turned his head to listen down, but shifted his focus back to Sebastian as he spoke, while Mime Jr climbed up onto the Numel's back. "Really?" he remarked. Before he could ask about it, though, Mimey suddenly leaped up, throwing herself over his shoulder and looking up, while telepathically asking, 'Are you going to challenge the gym while we're here, Jay?' He frowned thoughtfully, then gave a shrug. "Dunno. Weren't plannin' on it. Why? Yew think ah should, Mahmy?" he asked back, not seeming to mind that, since she wasn't broadcasting, it would look a bit like he was talking to himself. Sebastian could probably put two and two together, though.
Mary Lee scuttled her way over to Sebastian, giving a happy greeting while her trainer tended to his conversation. Koda curiously glanced over at the fire-ground pokemon, still moving along to his music. 'I think it wouldn't hurt to go check it out! They're probably pretty strong, but I, uh... Overheard... some people talking, and I think a lot of your pokemon have type advantages! We should give it a try, while we're here! It might be a while before we get back, y'know...' Jay seemed to consider it a moment, then turned towards Sebastian. "Hey Sebastian, wouldja mind if ah tried battlin' thuh gym while we're here? Mahmy said she thinks we might be able ta take 'em," he commented.

"Really? Great! Sounds good." Was Sebastian’s response. While he might’ve had an issue with heights, he was okay with trains and boats and other forms of transportation. In fact, the less walking they had to do the better it would probably be. Not that he was complaining, but it was nice to be able to kick up one’s feet once in a while. Shutting the book, he returned it to a rather cramped space of his bag with a frown. He really needed to do some organizing or something.
"Yup! Apparently you can gussy a pokemon up and make them really fancy. Put outfits on them and stuff…," Which seemed really odd in his mind. But then again, it didn’t. Pokemon in costumes? It seemed a bit… silly? Of course it was contests though so…
When Jay started sort of just talking to himself, Sebastian glanced back. He noted Mimey seemed into converse with him and figured it was telepathy, instead shifting his gaze over to Mary Lee as she scuttled over to him. "Hey there Mary Lee." He smiled, offering a hand out to pet her gently on the head. Rummy, who had been diligently bopping along to the tunes that emitted from Koda’s headphones perked up at the new arrival, eyes growing wide at the sight of the Numel. Once more that bright-eyed look of new discovery crossed his face and with a hop and a skip that would’ve probably tripped Sebastian if he hadn’t been paying attention, he popped over to check her out, tail wagging wildly as he stared. She was like a walking mountain! Or maybe not a mountain, she was more like a hill. But still!
Sebastian glanced back at his companion when he asked, head tilting a moment in consideration. "The gym?" He remarked with a bit of a grin. "Sure, I don't mind." Jay’s pokemon were pretty strong from what Sebastian had seen. Which reminded him that… he should probably do some training of his own for his. He didn’t particularly feel ready to take on the gym leader, but he certainly wasn’t going to stop Jay from trying. Shoot that was some pro-tip help he could rely on once he tried after all. "Ya, go for it! I don’t mind waiting."

Jay reached up to give an appreciative tip of his hat-- an odd gesture, given he was blind-- and shifted his weight as Mimey hopped back down. "Thanks," he replied, as Mimey started tugging at his pants leg to pull him along, "I'll, uh... I'll catch up with ya. Mahmy wouldju stop that..." He turned, nudging her off his leg but moving to follow. Koda glanced between the two, giving one more curious glance towards Mary Lee, and then Rummy before turning to follow after Jay, music still blaring from his headphones.
Mary Lee, meanwhile, tipped her head curiously back at the Leafeon. "Nuuuuumm....?" she cooed softly, which was essentially, "Huuuuh...?" She looked over as her trainer started to leave, but then smiled back towards Rummy. "Bye!" she added, hopping and hurrying to scurry on after her trainer so she could catch up. Mimey apparently wanted to make a trip to the pokecenter, first, so they could all make sure they were ready before finally taking on the gym leader.

Despite the fact that Jay wouldn’t see the gesture, Sebastian waved off the ‘thanks’. "No problem. Good luck!" He remarked, watching as Jay’s pokemon pretty much rustled him along their way. He gave a wave to them all as they left. Rummy on the other hand, was still staring in enthusiastic interest and Mary Lee but before he could begin to ramble, they started leaving. Rummy was about ready to start following the group too, but Sebastian seemed to catch on to his intentions, instead scooping him up and under his arm. That was probably the last thing Sebastian wanted to inflict on Jay after all.
"Come on, Rummy. Why don’t we do some training?" The man suggested, swiping a stray strand of hair from his face as he addressed the Leafeon. Rummy deflated slightly as everyone kind of left, perking up immediately though at the mention of training. That meant the others could come out! Maybe Dues could come out! This was a most acceptable replacement and excitedly he chirped in agreement. "Alright then, let’s go see what kind of pokemon are around here, okay?" Rummy chirped again and with a smile Sebastian set him back down, turning and heading off for the more grassy areas that lingered outside the city. It would be good to let his team out and about now that he considered it.

Once he’d found a clear enough area, Sebastian let out the majority of his pokemon. Spade gave a twitchy look and nearly slammed to the ground in surprise at the sight of the mega-evolved Houndoom. Sebastian had to soothe the poor Mightyena, assuring him that it was no murderous creature and instead was very much the same old Blackjack. Dice still approved of the change in appearance, toddling over with a little squeak to greet the Houndoom. Gin kept herself behind Sebastian’s leg, less out of fright and more out of curiosity. This was probably the first time in a while where she’d been out with a majority of his pokemon and she certainly didn’t recognize the hell hound, though she did notice Rummy.
Naps of course had yawned, eyeing Kaiser who was staring at him with saucer pan eyes. This was the first time the sheep had seem the pokemon since he’d been a Quilava. How did he get so big exactly? That thought quickly fled though as he once again spotted his favorite chew toy, wobbling over and waiting until Sebastian allowed it to swing into his direction. Shuffle to a rest on the Typhlosion’s head, watching with curious disapproval as the Mareep set to work.
"Alright all, go ahead and stretch. We’ll be doing some training for a bit." Sebastian remarked to his pokemon, getting a mixed response of chirps and bleats and… squeaks. Rummy in particular nudged his leg, giving a wavering gaze that seemed to suggest someone was missing. Where was Dues?
Sebastian frowned, rubbing the back of his head. "… I’ll let Deuce out in a bit, okay Rummy? I want to make sure… he’s not mad at me anymore." That was probably the gentlest way of telling the pokemon that he still remembered the near choking attempt that had occurred and how he greatly wished to avoid it. Rummy deflated a bit, Gin coo-ing and giving him a sympathetic pat on the head. Well, at least she cared.
While everyone stretched and moved about, Dice noticed a strange sight. Toddling over, he poked at the strange snot drop looking pokemon with his bone, squeaking in slight alarm when it opened its mouth wide in a yawning response. Oh heck, what was this?
Battle Summary

Whatever that pokemon was, it wasn’t very tough as a single bone boomerang chuck proved. Dice watched the strange blob slither away after its defeat, giving a squeaky roar of triumph before toddling back over to a watching Blackjack. The hound didn’t really…approve of Dice and his rather violent tendencies but so long as it was directed at wild pokemon… and not on a critical level.
Sebastian in the mean time was checking their surroundings, digging in his bag searching for his pokedex to help. There were still tons of pokemon to learn about after all, he’d need the device to make it happen. As he finally managed to pull it out, a shuffling behind him caught Spade’s attention. With a twitch, he lowered himself to the ground, causing Sebastian to notice and turn to see what it was.
Strolling from the grass was… a Ralts. That was one pokemon that Sebastian semi-recognized as the pokedex announced its name. If he recalled correctly, Jay had mentioned catching one of his own. The short little thing paused as it spotted the pair staring his direction, head tilting the slightest though its eyes were hidden from view. It was actually kind of cute in a way; like a small sort of child thing.
"Yo, what you punks lookin’ at?" Both Sebastian and Spade jumped. That tone was just… what? "Yo PUNKS, I asked you a QUESTION." The voice practically snapped in their minds again and Sebastian seemed to suddenly realize its origin. The Ralts’ body language suggested agitation immediately, one hand on a hip the other pointing in their direction in an accusatory manner.
Oh wow. This was awkward. The pair glanced uneasily between one another, which seemed to only further aggravate the psychic-fairy pokemon before them.
"What? You punks ain’ got nothin’ to say? Ya scared? Think ya can come all up on my TURF? Thinkin’ you so TOUGH?" The Ralts straightened up, pounding one tiny fist into another hand. "I’m gonna show yo punk asses what happens when ya go steppin’ where ya SHOULDN’T."

Jay was dragged off to the pokecenter fairly quickly, once he had said farewell to Sebastian. Mimey wanted to make sure everyone was healed, and check the mart for any helpful TMs. As it turned out, there was at least one that would really boost their chances, and once that was bought, taught to the appropriate pokemon, and everyone was healed, the group headed for the gym. And, surprise surprise, it had some sort of obstacle course to get through. This one, however, was intellectual... and there was a slight problem. The 'quizzes' were sight based. Jay had to hold back a sigh when he encountered this, and had to again explain the situation. He was almost positive Mimey could do the quizzes, really, for him, but he didn't feel like putting her through that, and he didn't feel like waiting, and he didn't feel like potentially making Sebastian wait, either. Ultimately he decided to just hold his tongue on the suggestion, his eyes closed as he waited, and was guided, to the battle field.
And without further ado, the battle began.

Well that… was just horrific. Sebastian was nursing an pounding headache, fingers pinching between his eyes while Spade twitched next to him, attempting assure his trainer was alright. Rummy and Gin were showing their concern too, the rest of his pokemon watching with varying degrees of their own concern. That was certainly something none of them had expected.
One moment the Ralts had been challenging them and then attempting to attack and then the next thing Sebastian knew he was being bombarded with language that would’ve put a lesser person to shame. Where did a pokemon learn language like that anyways? He grimaced as he thought about it. Luckily almost everyone else had snapped into action once it became clear that even after being knocked the hell out, the Ralts would not stop his hideous tirade on their trainer. A few pokeballs were chucked and eventually the second one caught the little miscreant, sending it off to the PC for now. It wasn’t… the best solution, but it certainly ended the situation. Sebastian would just have to deal with it later.
The only pokemon not currently focused on the whole fiasco was Dice. Instead, his attention was caught on an incredibly tiny individual occupying a flower in the field of flowers he was exploring. He was pretty darn certain the thing was some kind of bug pokemon with how tiny it was and how tightly it was gripping the flower. It honestly seemed harmless.
At least until it retaliated against Dice for smacking his head into it. Which the Cubone took as a sign of aggression, resulting in him striking his head down on the poor tiny thing again. When it didn’t move though, looking just crumbled and … injured, he actually felt… bad. What was he, some kind of fairy killer? Well… Sebastian had helped that rodent thing, maybe he could help this one too. Dice retrieved one of the few pokeballs that had been chucked haphazardly by the others in the attempt to capture the Ralts, toddling over and gently smacking it against the Flabebe. Luckily enough, the capture went through, and the small orphan pokemon watched as it shook and clicked close between his paws before disappearing away to the PC.
Alright! He no longer felt bad. Now what was going on with everyone else?

Clemont adjusted his spectacles, lifting them up off the bridge of his nose for a moment, and pulled the straps of his bag tighter around his shoulders. "Burns are always tricky to deal with," he mused right before returning his final pokemon, unable to help but note that this had been his third pokemon to receive a burn from Jay's team. "Congratulations," he spoke directly to the cowboy now, the giant hand attached to his bag coming to life and quickly scooping up his items. "This Voltage bade proves your victory over me, and the TM Thunderbolt is just a little extra, you may find some use in it."

Shortly after arriving Gio and Lucario disembarked the Train that brought them back into the City where they met. It had been a long time since either of them had been there but it had and almost nostalgic feel to it. They left the Train Station and made there way to the City center where Gio had claimed so many Pokemon for Team Snagem. The memory's churned as Gio wished he remembered the way to the Forest where he would train.

○ ○ ○ Maiku decided he should head back to Santalune, though he needed to train his Pokémon on the way. He switched Soku out with Yuki as he walked through the city's streets. He would spend some time in South Lumiose to train and then go back to Santalune for a battle with Viola. Sounded like a plan. Hopefully Furea wasn't too angry with him.

Jay bowed his head as the battle ended. That actually hadn't been too hard. Mary Lee and Mimey did a great job at enduring through the attacks, and ultimately, came out of it without much damage. In fact, no one really got as critically low as, say, last battle. And this one was supposed to be the harder one, too! Evidently, his team was just built well for the gym. No wonder Mime Jr suggested taking it on while they were in the area. She must have been reading minds or something and realized what an advantage they had.
"Yeah, sorry 'bout that," Jay replied as the gym leader remarked on the status affliction and returned his pokemon, "Ain't thuh kindest strategy, but it sure's hell helps things out in thuh long run." He straightened up a bit, letting Mary Lee stay out, the Numel giving a happy chirp as the gym leader approached, greeting him and scuttling her way back to her trainer alongside Clemont. Jay turned his head a bit, listening as she moved to his side, and then turned back towards the young man as he offered their prizes. Mimey jumped up on his shoulder, taking them and putting them in his hand for him, and he gave an appreciative nod. "Thank yew. 'Preciate it," he replied, putting the items in his pocket to be organized later.
Leaving, he headed for the pokecenter, which, of course, took a bit given the size of the city. Eventually he made his way, returning Zoey so she could rest, and recalling the others so they could be healed. He wandered off to lay down for a bit-- just to think, he wasn't really tired yet-- and pulled out his communicator. "Hey Sebastian, just wanted ta letcha know we're done with thuh gym. Ahm in thuh pok'center. Lemme know where ya wanna meet up, if'n yer not already here." He sent the message, then folded his arms behind his head. Contests huh... That would definitely be interesting to get started on...

Dice was disappointed upon discovering that whatever was going on was over and that he had missed it. Had he known something was assaulting his trainer he would’ve swiftly put his club to the underside of its face. Of course, that was pretty much his reaction to everything. He had a very limited pool apparently. But he was young, certainly he’d grow out of it… right?
Sebastian in the meantime had made his way back onto his feet, still nursing the new found headache a bit. He had no idea that psychics could be so loud in one’s mind. Mimey was fairly normal toned compared to what he’d just gone through. Eesh.
While Sebastian came too, Naps spotted another pokemon peeking from the grass. There’d been enough commotion and he certainly didn’t want his trainer to have to deal with any more violent outcries from the wild pokemon around here. Though this was a different looking pokemon than the last one; still, it was doing a serious case of eyeing and canvasing of the group and that was enough for the Typhlosion to take action.

Naps dispatched the strange Smeargle without much a problem, though the creature had done a curious action of swinging its tail in the air as though it were painting something. He had absolutely no idea what that move was and frankly, he didn’t care.
All the commotion though seemed to draw yet another curious pokemon to the group though with Blackjack being the one to notice. He eyed the strange buzzing creature with a curious gaze. It looked like a series of … yellow… shapes stuck together. With many faces. It was actually rather strange. The buzzing noise it made was a bit alarming though and Dice was already attempting to make his way over to inspect it. Which was probably dangerous, seeing as the little ground type was already a bit hurt seemingly from some previous encounter.
Blackjack took the initiative, stepping in front of the toddling Cubone to stop him before unleashing a swift flame attack of his own on the approaching Combee.
Blackjack used Inferno! It's super effective! 100 + 20 = 120 x 1.3(Item) = 156 x 2(Effectiveness) = 312 - 10 = 302 DMG 290 - 302 = 0

Done and done. Those grass types didn’t last long against a proper fire attack. Smoldering, the Combee flew away in a fit, though a shift of something else caught the mega Houndoom’s attention. Were those flowers… moving? Dice squeaked at the sight, trying to toddle towards the flowers to see what they were only for Houndoom to hinder him once more, much to his chagrin.
It wasn’t long before the Roselia that had been lingering in the grass made its appearance, giving a slightly crossed stare in Blackjack’s direction as it shook off some bits of ash. Apparently, his attack had made a mess and the wild pokemon was not pleased. Which Blackjack didn’t quite care to much about. He was more concerned with keeping Dice from rushing off and getting himself injured further. That was certainly not something Sebastian needed.
Sebastian heard the faint sounds of his pokegear going off, turning and digging it out from his bag as he glanced up and around. He spotted Blackjack doing battle with the Roselia, a frown instantly crossing his face as he recalled the small horde of them that had ambushed him and Spade in the caves a while back. He was pleased to see it was only one and that Blackjack dispatched it without a problem. He was grateful it was just one, he was not willing to deal with a bunch of hordes at this moment in time.
With pokegear in hand, Sebastian gave a couple of blinks to clear his head, flipping open and reading the text message. Ah wow, well that was good to hear. It must’ve gone well. He glanced at his pokemon a moment, still stretching and enjoying the fresh air. He’d gotten in a bit of training, though he had no idea who’d been doing what after that little disaster.
"Hey Jay, good to hear from you. We’ll be back to the pokemon center in a bit, just doing some training." He messaged back. They’d need to pay a visit there anyways after this but maybe he could squeeze in a few more fights. Unless they ran into another screaming punk fairy. Then he was just going to book it.
Blackjack used Inferno! It's super effective! 100 + 20 = 120 x 1.3(Item) = 156 x 2(Effectiveness) = 312 - 10 = 302 DMG 280 - 302 = 0
