Marx gulped a bit, rubbing the back of his neck. W-wow... That little bug was dealing a looooot of damage. He glanced down at Litwick, who's flame was burning a bit brighter, and, huh, was it a different color than before? The irritated ghost stared violently at the insect attacking him, but he shook himself after the second attack and concentrated his focus. A series of odd, discombobulating circles wavered through the air in a beam, soaring over to hit Siemens. This was Litwick's tactic; burn, then confuse. Of course, it wasn't a sure fire tactic, but it was his method, and Marx... clearly didn't know what was going on. Marx rubbed the back of his neck again as he watched, glancing at Alexandra to see her reaction... She really had some tough pokemon....
"Hey Alex-andra.... How many badges do you have?" he asked, straightening up curiously. It was a good question, given the levels of her pokemon. Maybe she could give him some advice, even, on the next gym he'd be facing.

Alexandra switched her gaze from the two battling pokemon, her expression neutral. Siemens was doing well, able to deal out an extra damage either through sheer luck or determination; either way, it was certainly working in their favor. Even the burn he'd received, although unfortunate, was manageable, at the moment at least. If Siemens was aware of the enraged look Litwick bore into him, he didn't show it. Four eyes turned curiously to the beam the feisty candle was forming, only to quickly grow cross-eyed when hit. He took a step back and shook his head, only to squeak in irritation when that failed to alleviate the problem.
Alexandra pursed her lips in mild concerned before relaxing her face. "Siemens, use Electroweb," she suggested, hoping that a move with more reach would be effective; it required less accuracy and more of just aiming in a general direction. Siemens nodded his... entire body and squeezed his eyes shut momentarily before they flashed open and he moved in to strike. She looked up when she was addressed by Marx before she offered him a smile, "I have four, two from Hoenn and two from Sinnoh. What about you?"

Marx gave a slight smile, finally dropping his hand as Litwick was hit. The flame pokemon wobbled a bit, glaring at the Joltik, then, finally, toppled over, eyes x-ed out in unconsciousness. He recalled him and gave a shrug to Alex's question. "H-heh, I just have two... From Hoenn," he replied, stepping forward and reaching for his holo caster. He blinked as something seemed to occur to him, though. "Hey wait, if you have some from Hoenn, does that mean you're gonna go back there? Are you gonna go battle the third gym leader?" he paused, then added with a bit of a sheepish grin, "Do you have any suggestions for a strategy...?" He... didn't even know what kind of pokemon the third gym leader even had. And though he didn't know it... quite a few of his pokemon were either bordering on, or already at, disobeying him.
Forgetting that he might get chided for it, he pulled out his holo caster, so that he could finally respond to Cheria's message. He smiled as he read it over again, quickly typing back a reply.

If it were anyone else texting it, and they were like Marx, one might think they were being sarcastic-- because, in reality, one should always worry about Marx doing anything-- but he probably sincerely meant it. He just... wasn't even smart enough to observe the irony in his own attempt at 'reassurance'.
Putting his holo caster away, he brought his gaze back up to Alex, giving another smile. "You're pokemon are really tough, by the way," he added, giving a bit of a friendly grin.

The corner of Alexandra's lip twitched up in the hint of a smile when Siemens came out victorious, the little spider's many victorious squeaks enough boasting for the both of them. He waited until Litwick had been recalled before he scuttled back to his trainer, taking the 'elevator' she offered in the form of her hand up to her shoulder. From there he perched himself happily, nuzzling his small body against Alexandra's cheek up until she returned him for rest. The brunette couldn't help but rub her cheek afterwards, her expression thoughtful, before she turned a smile to Marx. "Do you plan on returning soon to get your third badge?" she asked, her attention already switching to the three pokemon that remained with her when she saw Marx bring out his Holo Caster. She turned back to him, however, when he stopped to ask her about her intentions for her slow progress through the Hoenn league.
"I will, eventually. But before that I'll be returning to Sinnoh to try and earn my third and perhaps even fourth badge," she told him, a flicker of emotion lighting in her eyes at his next question. Alexandra grew quiet, just long enough to recall the information she knew about Hoenn's third gym leader. "His name is Wattson and he uses Electric-type pokemon," she started, slow at first as her mind worked to bring forth the information on the gym leader. "Your best bet would be to teach your pokemon ground-type moves, or at the very least use your Amaura or Basil, they both have a resistance to electric-types." She paused, long enough to draw in a breath and furrow her brow. There was something else she was forgetting, wasn't there? It was... ah! Her eyes brightened when the memory came to her. "He has two dual type electric and steel that you should look out for, ground types would be especially effective there, though your Litwick's fire would prove to be useful as well. The same goes for any fighting-types you might have." Alexandra reviewed back over what she'd told Marx and, upon finding an issue, quickly tried to amend it. "You might want to hold off on using Amaura, it's especially weak against steel-type moves."
Satisfied that'd she given Marx all she knew of Wattson she turned to Skitty, who was now adamantly demanding some form of attention from her, preferably the kind that involved physical contact. She found no issue in this, not only because his attempts were adorable but because Marx was currently distracted with his Holo Caster. Alexandra crouched down to scoop up the pink feline into her arms, laughing softly when he butted his head against her chin and began to purr. The rumbling in his chest only increased when she began to pet him and his tail swished through the air idly. Alexandra peered up from Skitty's pink head to look at Marx when he complimented her pokemon, and, although the lower half of her face was concealed, she smiled back at time. "Thank you, Marx. Your pokemon are strong as well, you just need to battle with them more, learn their moves, and pay attention to their advantages and disadvantages."
Alexandra blinked before tilting her head, that had been.. quite a bit of criticism, though it was friendly criticism. As necessary as it all was she couldn't help but feel that her original compliment had been overrun with her 'tips'. With a light sigh she shook her head at herself then turned to address Marx once more, "would you care to accompany me to the Pokecenter?"

Marx's expression seemed to fall a bit in uncertainty when Alexandra began explaining. Electric pokemon, ground type moves... He had Flygon, and... yeah, he had a few grass types, so maybe he could use their resistances? And Amaura too? Well that was good to know... He scratched the back of his head, looking down as he thought about it. He would probably need to train them a bit. Or would he? He... actually wasn't really even sure just how strong his pokemon were. Giving a quiet sigh at the thought of having to try and focus on training, he lifted his gaze up, looking to Alex as she seemed to think of something else to add. He frowned a bit when she mentioned Litwick and fighting moves, too. "H-huh... There's a lot to keep in mind, isn't there..." he remarked, looking down again with his mouth pushed off to one side. He wasn't sure he'd be able to even remember all this, let alone prepare properly for it.
Sighing a bit, he gave a final nod. Maybe he'd ask her again when he actually got there, and just try to train on the way? Hm, yeah, he'd... have to sort of figure it out. Boy...
Giving a slow nod to Alexandra's comment on his own pokemon, he gave a bit of a smile. "H-heh, guess I have a lot I gotta work on. At least I've got the trip to Hoenn to figure it out!" he remarked optimistically. And heck, now that he thought about it, it would probably be good to figure out how he was getting there. Luckily, thinking about all that seemed enough for him to not take her comments negatively. Even if he was clearly a little overwhelmed with how much he obviously needed to do for his gym battle. He perked up, though, when she mentioned the pokecenter, giving a nod, and glancing down at Basil's pokeball. His smile faltered a bit, but then quickly returned as he looked back to her. "Yeah, good idea!" he agreed, swiftly stepping forward. He stopped abruptly, though, hesitated, and then changed his pace, slowing and letting her lead. He'd almost taken her hand to run off like he always did, but her... advice from when he was last a little over eager like that, somehow managed to find its way back into his head, and he stopped himself.
Instead he shifted his weight a bit, and quickly checked his holo caster, sending Cheria another short reply, and then fixing his gaze down on the ground, trying to focus and concentrate on thinking about his gym battle, while letting Alexandra lead the way back to the pokecenter. It was probably better she did anyway. Less likely for him to get lost.

Seeing the look of confusion on Marx's face should've been Alexandra's sign to stop her explanation, or at least rehash and simplify it, but she'd been on an information roll and had simply steam-rolled her way through until she was content that she'd passed on her knowledge; it was only after she'd finished did she even realize how overwhelmed Marx might be. It was a lot to try and remember, especially considering she'd just given it all at once. "I apologize, Marx." Having realized her mistake, she was quick to apologize and try and amend, "I'll text you the shortened version when you get back to Hoenn." That would be easier for both of them, and especially convenient for Marx. If he happened to forget any of the suggestions she'd given him a simple check of his past messages would give him the quick reminder he needed.
"Mm," Alexandra gave a low hum in agreement before she nodded her head, Skitty looking at her curiously before he took the opportunity to lick her cheek; she'd stopped rubbing him once she'd started conversing with Marx, so it was obvious that she needed a reminder that he was still there. Alexandra laughed softly and returned to petting him, her fingers running gently past his ears and to his neck. "You'll be fine," she assured him, the conviction in her tone audible. She knew for a fact that Marx was capable of applying all that he learned, he just needed a little push in the right direction. When he agreed to accompany her to the Center she started forward, only to falter and raise a curious eyebrow in the male's direction. She didn't question the sudden change in pace, at least not verbally, and instead lead them both back in the direction of the Pokemon Center.
She slowed down once the familiar red building came into sight, casting a glance backwards to make sure she had everyone, Marx and her pokemon included, entered once she'd verified their presence. After approaching the counter and handing her pokemon over to Nurse Joy she turned to Marx, waiting patiently for him to finish up on his Holo Caster before she spoke, "Marx, you're still a Ranger, aren't you? How's that going?"

He looked up in thought as he contemplated it, but looked over to Alex as she asked him about his ranger stuff. Heh, speaking of...
"I dunno really!" he replied optimistically, "I haven't really gotten any missions or anything! I've only caught a few pokemon, or, er... one, I think... But I'm gonna try and do it more on my way to the gym and stuff! Maybe I can do it while I train..." He grinned and looked off, a bit lost in thought at the idea, but then shook his head, looking at Alex curiously. "Why? Are you considering being one?" Perhaps he was a bit too excited at the idea; after all, it most likely wasn't the reason she was asking.
He blinked and pulled out his holo caster as he got another message from Cheria, but he seemed to still be listening, and even glanced at Alex as he typed his response. Astonishing! He was multitasking! Or at least, it would have been astonishing if he didn't have to clean up all his typos after...

"You're welcome, Marx," Alexandra replied and found herself smiling along with her friend. Granted, it wasn't as wide as his but the fact that she was in high spirits was clear. She took her own Holo Caster out to leave behind a message to remind herself to send Marx the text, and even started typing out the beginning of said text. From over her glasses she peered up over at Marx the same smile, this time dimmed, lighting her face when he thanked her.
She placed the Holo Caster away back into her bag, saving the draft of her text away. Of course, she couldn't just pay attention to Marx's upcoming gym battle, she had her own to gym battle to begin preparing for. Of course, she wouldn't have to put much thought into it, Maylene was a fighting-type leader just like Brawley had been. Of course, she was stronger than him and had more pokemon, but that just meant she'd have to train more than just Amethyst and Xion this time around. The obvious choice was Comet, but unlike the other two he'd need more training, and perhaps an upgrade on his moves.
Alexandra waited for Marx to respond to her question, and once he began to explain his progress as a Ranger she did her best to pay attention, only becoming briefly distracted when Nurse Joy returned with her pokeballs on a tray. She swiped them into her arm, juggling with them into her grip before she managed to settle them. "Really? Perhaps you could show me how to capture a pokemon with your... Stylus? Though it doesn't have to be anytime soon." She couldn't help but to laugh and shake her head when he inquired if she was interested in becoming a Ranger. It wasn't that the idea was far-fetched, she simply refused to become sidetracked from her original goal for a whim. "No, nothing like that. I was just curious about how you were faring."
When Marx ducked down to tend to his Holo Caster once more she used that chance to make an arrangement on her active team, wanting to get a head start on her training before she left for North Lumoise-- which reminded her! "Marx, will you be heading back to the train station in North Lumoise?" she asked, two pokeballs in her hand as she was currently in mid-swap.

Marx's expression lit up once again when Alex suggested he show her how to catch a pokemon with his stylus. "Sure!" he agreed, beaming, "It'll be good practice!" If he even remembered how to do it. It had kind of been a while, after all, and not to mention, even if he wasn't thinking about it, he really wasn't too high a level at it yet, either. He could probably only catch really low level pokemon, and there probably weren't a lot of those around. Knowing him, though, he'd probably try on the first pokemon they came across...
He gave a lopsided smile when she laughed to his question, and placed his hands behind his head yet again. "Heh, that's too bad! It would have been fun to have a friend doing it too!" he commented. Maybe Rose would give it a try? He wondered if there was a way to even meet other rangers... heh, maybe he could try Cheria's method. Speaking of, she replied again, and while Alexandra was getting her pokemon situated, and while his were being healed, he quickly took the chance to reply to her.
Huh? How could they steal credit for them? I'd be the one sending them with your name on it! Have you been busy battling?? Uhhhh... I'm not bored! Sorry! I think that was probably during my battle with Alexandra. She was showing me some strategy stuff, and I had to focus on that so I could try and learn it!
He quirked his head to the side with a curious smile as he hit the send message. If it wasn't obvious yet, hopefully it would be, soon-- he was distracted pretty easily. Even he knew that. He tried to focus, he really did, but he just... couldn't, most of the time. There were just too many things to pay attention to!
And on that subject... He looked over as Alex asked about his destination, and he gave a nod as he took his pokeballs back from Nurse Joy. "Yeah, probably! I figure it'll get me closer to wherever the gym is in Hoenn," he remarked. He didn't know where it was, exactly, but that train was probably nearer to it than the ones in the small tones. Hopefully.

Alexandra had no firsthand experience with a Ranger, all she even knew about the occupation was from a book, and although the secondhand information was accurate and very enlightening it just wasn't the same. It would be exciting to see the real thing right in front of her.
A thoughtful look crossed over Alexandra's face and she turned an absent look towards the other side of the room. "It would be, perhaps Rose or Shenaiya might be interested," she suggested, her attention eventually meandering back to Marx. "Though it's not as if I am not interested, I just have a few other priorities to complete first. Perhaps once I've finished those I'll try becoming a Ranger," a sudden thought came to her and the young woman laughed once more, this one lighter. "Maybe by then you'll be the one teaching me."
Alexandra wasn't surprised to find Marx taking him to reply to yet another message, my wasn't he popular. She was a tad curious about just who he was going back-and-forth with, but curtsey mandated that she not go around and try prying into Marx's personal life. It wasn't as if he spent a considerable amount of time either, and not even two minutes had passed before Marx's head popped back up. "I have a map of the Hoenn region, I could lend it to you so that you could figure out where you were going," she offered, but then moved to the real reason why she had originally asked. "I'll be heading to North Lumoise myself, would you like to go there together?"

A lopsided grin crossed his face just at the thought, and he got lost in planning in a moment before looking back at Alex as she clarified. He gave a bit of a laugh and a grin at the idea of teaching her, but then shoved his hands into his pockets and gave her a curious look. "What other sort of priorities?" he asked curiously.
He raised his eyebrows and perked up when she mentioned having a map to Hoenn, but then relaxed, grinning as he remembered something. "It's alright! I think I got a map on my thingy!" he remarked, holding up his holo caster. Which.... pinged yet again. Probably from Cheria. He pulled it down to check, but glanced up when Alex offered to travel together to go to North Lumoise, and found himself smiling toothily yet again. "Yeah, sure!" he agreed. it would definitely be a lot more fun going together! "You ready to go now? Cheria says hi, by the way" he added, glancing briefly down at his holo caster again. He quickly sent Cheria a reply, then put the device away once more. He didn't want to be rude to Alex-- and he would message Shenaiya after they started traveling or something.

Speaking of Rose, hadn't she, Isis, and Zero mentioned going to South Lumoise? They would have to pass through that section of the city to get to the train station, wouldn't they? It wasn't as if she expected to bump into them, or would even necessarily seek them out--after all they had just split ways--but it was something to think on. Alexandra hummed a muffled tune, her fingers splaying themselves absently across her hips. "Well, I'd like to collect all eight Sinnoh badges, for one," she replied. "And maybe even Hoenn, now that I've started on them."
When Marx assured her that he already had a map it took her a moment to connect the dots, it might've taken her a bit longer if the brunette hadn't directed to his Holo Caster. Alexandra blinked. "Ah, yes. Your Holo Caster." Digital maps were all the rage now, weren't they? She could understand why, they were convenient and took up less space. She herself still used physical maps, she was old-fashioned that way. Marx blinked a few times as he seemed to process Alex's comments, then raised his eyebrows as his eyes widened. "Whooaaaa, you're going for all eight?" he asked in awe. Of course, for a normal person, that was, well.. expected. It was necessary to guarantee a pokemon wouldn't disobey, after all. And, not to mention, as a trainer, it was a pretty... typical goal. Virtually inevitable, really. And yet, he seemed pretty impressed. Grinning, he placed his hands behind his head. "I bet that's gonna take a lot of training," he commented. Heck, just getting his third badge -- which, let's be honest, was probably the last of the easier badges to get -- was going to take him some effort.
After showing her the map, he nodded and put the holo caster away. But not too long after, about as Alex was saying to tell Cheria hello for her, it went off again. He pulled it out, giving her a nod, and glanced down. He read the message, but looked up as she asked if he was ready too, and gave another nod with a grin. "You bet!" he replied. He started a message to Cheria on his way out, typing it as he walked. It still seemed weird to him that people would try and claim pictures as their own.... but if that was the case, he'd have to be careful with sharing his friends stuff! He scrunched up his face a bit in confusion, pausing in his response, but then quickly finished it, and hit send.

With a dive Noivern deposited Simon just outside of the Pokemon Center before pushing off again then looping in the air as Simon sent the red beam up returning him to his Pokeball. There was a short applause causing Simon to look around seeing a girl in camping gear. "Uh Thanks?"Simon said a little confused. "Your flying Pokemon looks like Noibat, is that the evolved form?""Yeah he is, Noivern.""That's so cool. The next Pokemon April sent out was "Ferroseed the thorn seed Pokemon. When threatened, it attacks by shooting a barrage of spikes, which fives it a chance to escape by rolling away." Worried about that one Simon returned Mareep and sent out Aron. As a steel type and bug there wasn't very many Pokemon that could defeat it however it did have a very specific weakness, fire. Of course Simon wasn't training a fire Pokemon so he'd have to go with Aron's fighting move. The choice band made the single attack even more powerful however since it was a physical move those barbs on Ferroseed the attack would hurt.
