For the record, my character doesn't have a single racial Hit Dice or LA, but I'll be outclassing everyone. The only things I won't be able to do well are heal mid-combat (but out of combat, I can give everyone infinite healing) and maybe trapfind, though there is a spell for that.

Should I even bother finishing her up, or just pack up the bags?

jennibert's character was built accounting for the LAs listed in Savage Species for her character. She had accounted for the LA of the multiheaded template, and had sucked up the racial HD of the Tauric template.

A griffon has a LA, even if it's also got a "level progression", since the level progression is worked in to all those levels where there isn't any hit dice.

I can certainly understand her frustration. She worked for a while on that character, had already established that she had templates, and then was told that she needed to completely ditch it for conflicting reasons - first you said it was "cut[ing her] power in half" and then it's because she'd be able to make mincemeat out of a target opponent. I don't entirely get it.

As a note you aren't the only one without a La or racial hit dice.

Honestly, I'm trying to keep things simple on my end. When a player starts feeling left out, my first instinct is to get rid of the obstacle causing the leaving out entirely. That didn't work. I basically ended up looking like a jerk.

Then, I tried to make a good compromise. Apparently, I'm getting MORE heat for THAT, and it's really starting to look like this campaign was a bad idea to start with.

You're welcome to use your character, I'm just trying to find a good medium where everyone feels like they have a role without having someone bite my head off at every turn. If I wanted THAT to happen, I'd start talking to my dad.

I won't be rebuilding my character because time to build characters is something I have very little of at the moment. 1) How do you handle the feat Leadership here?
2) LA buy-off?

1) Normal. HD+Cha Mod+anything else relevant= Cohorts and followers, possibly organization line.
2) Same as what GBP does with his stuff.

The last part of my previous post came off harsher than I meant it to (due largely to the sarcasm in the early part). I won't be rebuilding my character because time to build characters is something I have very little of at the moment. But it looks like there will be plenty of people without me, so I hope y'all have a good time. smile

I don't mean to complain much. And it was mostly Mr. Flying Goliath. He had perfect flight, more strength (when my PRC gives me +2 str a level (no bab and all my int, wis, cha skills have 0 ranks)), more damage... hell, it felt like everything I was built for he went 'lololol, I can do it better' except carry stuff. Your character just got thrown into the mix after looking cause of your carrying capacity and all... I will say that I was already angry when I saw your character, which didn't help. Of course, not being able to use weapons doesn't help me either. So uh... that's kinda why I feel bad. I didn't mean to make others leave.

Only once I went for a Goliath with the Giant born template and had a str of about 40 somthing.

Mainly stick to base races and a 1 base class 1 PrC combination.

In this case. Just pure Artificer for cheap item's n.n
