Comments: This one's deceptive since I don't think it looks like it should've taken an hour to draw this. There are a lot of layers... but it's a simple drawing. Most of that time was sunk into playing with the background. I started off with a much darker, solid purple background... and kept changing it around. I fiddled with the background a lot longer than I'd realized... to end up with something that doesn't look like much time was spent on it. Cuz I didn't spend much time on this background .... it was all spent on the backgrounds I erased. XD;;

Edit; I'm adding this a few days later. It just dawned on me. There are brushes I normally use for these for "painting" texture and I didn't use them. XD It didn't cross my mind the other day tho that those were what's missing. Brain fart

Comments: I did the spotlight yesterday and then ran off to do another project. I intended to return and post yesterday... but obviously didn't. Anyway~
I wanted to play withdrawing that foamy water of a receding wave. Goal was to draw with pencil and look realistic ish, but still pencil
Once I got most of it blocked in, I thought it'd be fun to add cartoon birds into it. So here it is
I think the water needs a little work to be a liiitle more transparent, but am happy with how this turned out. I had fun too. ...but this was one of those drawings where I had to trust the process cuz it looked awful for a while XD
A ref was used for the background... but not for the birds. I wanted to link to the ref but can't find it. It was on Unsplash. I have a screenshot of the ref so I know the photographer's name and search tags. So uuhhh I assume they've removed the image since yesterday? @ .@;; I'm not gonna give the ref credit since i assume they must've taken it down. > <

Comments: I hope this is one of those arts that eventually grows on me cuz I don’t like it.
I decided to do a headshot to save on drawing time, but spend more effort on coloring. I really liked how the initial line work went but it went downhill from there. I kept adding to it like that was gonna fix it. One of those “trust the process” arts. But it never got better. This is me giving up … and also including a version that’s mostly just the line art
I was also gonna tuck the bottom of the cat into the background… like it’s popping out of the circle. But I liked my line art too much to cut it off. XD; I usually do over draw and then just cut that bit out of the final… but.. yeah

Anyway, my attempt at cartoon with loose ref. Which, mainly, was drawing a sketch and then looking at an ostrich. … then realizing my sketch must be pulling from other cartoon ostriches I’ve seen over the years XD … but keeping it

Comments: This is like a pokemon version of a porcupine. XD
I usually picture those porcupines with the thick, black and white quills that stick out of their backs. When I googled for refs, I saw lots of porcupines with fluffy fur. So I drew from that version (no pun intended).
My plan was always to keep it loose.. like this. However, I did attempt a different style first… to prove to myself that it wouldn’t work. It didn’t. I also didn’t count the time I spent on it. ….Also, I usually have cleaner sketch lines. I worked hard at taking Proko’s (and others) advice to draw lines with purpose. So this just proves how I had no plan and was winging it
Edit; lol. It’s also basically the same colors as the ostrich. XDD I know I reused some colors, but damn. I didn’t realize I basically reused the color scheme XDD

Comments: Loosely based off the “Harvest Moon 64” kid. He’s not as cute as I remember in my head. I must be remembering box art from another HM game. I’ve played various versions over the years but this wasn’t worth a deep dive for box art.. Heck, I could be thinking of another game entirely… I so pictured this kid’s hair though. Anyway, I just switched up the HM64 outfit.
I sketched a few poses before landing on this one. It ended up super cute, but my first sketches weren’t XD;
This is such a soothing color palette
I should’ve recolored the chicks’ beaks. It didn’t cross my mind while coloring.

Don't threaten me with a good time. XD I get to draw Victorian Duck again? Heck yeah. I chose to redraw the same drawing, not just idea. I used the same ref, but remembered to tilt the head (ref doesn't have a head tilt). I also remembered the outfit because I recently stared at this art when drawing the goose prompt.
After that... I used the original as a ref so I could color match. I think the coloring went stiff because I was trying to not pay attention to the original... but I can't not see things. So I was overthinking while also trying not to overthink. *shrug*
Are there any changes I'd still make? Heck yeah. Neither of these my best effort.

I came across this 100 Day art last month while backing up and deleting art off my iPad. I enjoyed looking back at it. I decided, if time worked out, that I'd make one for this year.
Ironically, the majority of the 2021 images were drawn with my left hand. It's why I avoided line art (for the most part) that year. And used a lot of the symmetry tool and other tricks.
I remember how hard it was to narrow down my favorite pics for the 2021 wall. I had to leave a lot out. But this year? Ugh. This year, I struggled to find enough artworks.
A large reason is that I broke my own rule and drew a lot of fan art this year. I don't mind some... but I leaned on it a lot. And I don't want to count fan art as "mine" for this wall. (Yeah, yeah... That Cheshire cat doesn't count since it's so different from the established characters and I draw him a lot. XD ) I also spent a loooot more time on the 2021 art
