A'te and the Green Dokkaeth
Round 2 - Day 1 - Roll 1: General Grid
Green Dokkaeth: 10/10 hp
Held saves: 0

The first hour floated by, so far they had managed to get rid of thread and save a rider without doing any real damage to themselves which only A’te could consider a small victory for them. The wind was shifting, a little as the leaders called out to them to be careful.

So far so good. A’te replied patting the side of Dokkaeth’s neck.

It’s sort of fun. So far, maybe it was because so far they hadn’t had any real threat other than thread slowly falling from the sky. A’te’s blue eyes found a strand coming focusing on the spot to go in between finding themselves off the mark again.

A'te and the Green Dokkaeth
Round 2 - Day 1 - Roll 2: General Grid
Green Dokkaeth: 5/10 hp
Held saves: 0

Luck couldn’t hold out forever, as Dokki and A’te moved in between they popped into a tangled mess of thread. Dokkaeth screamed as it stung and A’te bit down on his lower lip and cheek doing whatever he could to stifle his own cry. No wonder why they avoided thread.

A'te and the Green Dokkaeth
Round 2 - Day 1 - Roll 3: General Grid
Green Dokkaeth: 7/10 hp
Held saves: 0

Forfeiting roll to heal.

It still stung as they moved inbetween to get away, Dokkaeth on the verge of tears muttering the words of not fun as A’te tried to get her down to the bowl for a moment’s rest. When they finally landed he hopped off letting the healers do what they needed as he stroke the spot between her eyes.

I know, I’m sorry.

Round 2 - Day 2 - Roll 1: General Grid
Brown Hessianth: 12/14 hp - Acting Wingsecond
Held saves: 0

Quote:
Your dragon swoops down to flame a writhing silvery Thread, but your riding straps are just a little bit loose. The sudden fear of feeling yourself lift just a bit higher in the straps than you like is terrifying as you fear you might slide off. Furthermore, when your dragon swoops back up to return to formation, you're forcefully returned to your seat! You're able to tighten the leg strap with shaky hands, and were never at risk of actually falling off, but it's not an experience you want to feel again. Your tailbone is going to object for a few days. -1 HP Rider Damage.

He had just tightened those, but there still seemed to be some slip-and-slide in L'nik's straps. The young man frowned at them as he tightened them further, but made a note to go over them later to make sure one of the adjustment pieces wasn't simply loosening up on a whim from all the movement.

His butt really couldn't take another crash-landing like that.

Your dragon spots a silver strand of Thread. You visualize the space you need to go to flame it, but don't take into account the wind, or your dragon's flight speed. Instead, you appear Between but have completely overshot your airspace and are now out in the open, exposed, and with no Thread anywhere near you. Shaffit all! Don't you look the fool. Whoops.

This wind is really killing our groove, isn't it? L'nik asked Hessianth idly as they emerged from between only to find the thread they'd been hunting had either been gotten to already, or had simply been blown off in another direction. The brown thrummed in shared disappointment.

They both simply felt really good when they were burning this menace out of the sky.

Brown Hessianth: 12/14 hp - Acting Wingsecond

It's a classic textbook maneuver. An ugly strand of Thread is falling down, drifting, blowing, squirming on the wind. If it stays course it will put it right in your airspace. Your dragon shifts position, veers, and manages to catch the tangle with a belch of flame. Nothing to this Thread thing, nope!

They'd returned to position, both ever on the alert. A tangle of thread fell into their airspace and it was an easy task for a big brown like Hessianth to burn it out of the sky. L'nik patted an open palm against his lifemate's shoulder, remaining on the alert, just in case they needed to intervene elsewhere, or if they needed to relay a call from Liat.

This was getting easier, though. Stressful, but there was a groove to it.

Round 2 roll 4 - General grid
Therianth 3/10
Saves=0

Coming out of between again to no Thread made Shahera grumble a little bit. She was beginning to think she needed to study wind patterns some more. Therianth sent reassurance to her rider but was already focused on the next task. Something she reminded Shahera that her rider should be doing as well.

Round 2 roll 5 - General grid
Therianth 3/10
Saves=0

Swooping down to flame some thread, Therianth sent Shahera a wave of satisfaction. We are doing it! Hurt, still bleeding ichor, and with some troublesome straps (remember to talk to L'nik) they were still able to do their job. It was nice to know.

Round 2 roll 6 - General grid
Therianth 2/10
Saves=0

They were doing this indeed. As Therianth turned Shahera felt that too familiar feeling of her straps slipping. Shaffit. Reaching down she tightened them again. Were they stretching under all the strain? Was that it?

4. No Thread is near you, and there's nothing really to be done. The winds are calm and you're in good spirits. You've got this. A moment to think, a moment to breathe. Look at you, fighting Thread like a real rider!

He could feel Strigonth's wings cupping the wind through their bond, the clever blue deftly riding the air the larger dragons cut and almost able to physically see any updrafts he could coast through without leaving formation. The blue felt strong, at-ease, not nearly as if they were closing in on the end of their time in the sky. It felt as if the blue could fly on for hours more—but then, they'd been lucky, hadn't they? No real danger had come for them yet (D'mar's straps aside) and their confidence was still high.

Illiandinth knew. In his hatchling days he had been too obvious in his machinations. His ploys had been more transparent. But the touch of C'sar's mind had reminded him of who he was. He was the Demon. He held dominion over his own state. He was not some simpering child, content to be patted and cosetted. No. Illiandinth had been hatched with purpose, vision, and drive. His potential was limitless. As was his ambition. Yet there were those among his clutchmates who had not yet learned this.

Vedmath thought that he knew the other Bronze's hearts, but he was dreaming too small. I did no more than any of our siblings, the Demon demurred, flying effortlessly into place. He could feel C'sar's pride, and it did far more for him than any words might. They were ready. Ready to face Threadfall - but more importantly, ready to face Pern. The inexorable pair flew as one, ever vigilant.

Day 2 / Round 2 / Roll 1: General Grid
Brown Aleyath: 9/14 HP
Held saves: 0

The first time O'len's tailbone jarred against Aleyath's spine was fairly easy to shake off, but the second...

Oh... hey... slow down Aleyath, he said with a pained chuckle that somehow reached his mental voice. You're going to jostle me to my death.

If he seemed ignorant, or was thought to have fallen behind in his estimation of his clutchmates' growth, so much the better for him. In certain ways, being underestimated could be immensely valuable. It was a good position from which to watch, and he was happy to occupy it for however long he needed to. In the meantime, there was more immediate work to be done, work that was no less important.

His had been waiting for this fight for a long time, and the satisfaction Vedmath felt in him every time they charred Thread from the sky made him eager for more.

Again they leapt forth in confidence, and again they were left just short—though more the opposite, having overshot, really—their target. With a grimace they wheeled about, ducking back into formation. The wind was still erratic, still one moment, wild the next. They'd get the hang of things in time, they were sure.

There was no sunshine on this day, no mirth to be found in games and revelry. This was a game that Baihath had been forbidden to play, and yet it was the most important game of all! The young white was mantling his wings with uncharacteristic aggression, sulking and snappy as he glowered up at the sky with orange-streaked eyes. I can almost fly now! I can help! He insisted, writhing with displeasure.

Alya had stopped bagging firestone in order to comfort her bonded, clicking her tongue even as he fussed and whined. "I know, my love." She murmured, stroking at his head. "But we haven't learned how to have you flame properly yet. What if we both get hurt? " Baihath made an audible sound of displeasure, and inspiration struck the young woman. Tucking her hands under the growing white's head, she forced him to look at her. "Why don't you wish them luck? Surely they'll be happy to know you're thinking about them! --once." She hastily amended as Baihath's eyes began to whirl green. "You don't want to distract them."

Baihath immediately reached out to the Spooky Weyrlings, whether he knew them or not. Good luck! Good luck! We are here waiting for you, so hurry back so we can play! He settled back with a sigh, already slipping back into his sulk. "Why don't you play with Eighth-Mark?" She suggested, and the weyrling swung his head to eye the green flitter nearby. Strigonth had sent her over... and that did make Baihath feel a little better. Well... okay.

It wouldn't be long until he was racing about the Weyr with the little green streaking behind him, naturally as underfoot as always.
