Round 2 - Day 2 - Roll 3: General Grid Brown Hessianth: 12/14 hp - Acting Wingsecond Held saves: 0
Quote: It's a classic textbook maneuver. An ugly strand of Thread is falling down, drifting, blowing, squirming on the wind. If it stays course it will put it right in your airspace. Your dragon shifts position, veers, and manages to catch the tangle with a belch of flame. Nothing to this Thread thing, nope!
They'd returned to position, both ever on the alert. A tangle of thread fell into their airspace and it was an easy task for a big brown like Hessianth to burn it out of the sky. L'nik patted an open palm against his lifemate's shoulder, remaining on the alert, just in case they needed to intervene elsewhere, or if they needed to relay a call from Liat.
This was getting easier, though. Stressful, but there was a groove to it.

Round 2 - Day 2 - Roll 1: General Grid Bronze Illiandinth 16/16 hp Held saves: 0
4. No Thread is near you, and there's nothing really to be done. The winds are calm and you're in good spirits. You've got this. A moment to think, a moment to breathe. Look at you, fighting Thread like a real rider!
-------
Illiandinth knew. In his hatchling days he had been too obvious in his machinations. His ploys had been more transparent. But the touch of C'sar's mind had reminded him of who he was. He was the Demon. He held dominion over his own state. He was not some simpering child, content to be patted and cosetted. No. Illiandinth had been hatched with purpose, vision, and drive. His potential was limitless. As was his ambition. Yet there were those among his clutchmates who had not yet learned this.
Vedmath thought that he knew the other Bronze's hearts, but he was dreaming too small. I did no more than any of our siblings, the Demon demurred, flying effortlessly into place. He could feel C'sar's pride, and it did far more for him than any words might. They were ready. Ready to face Threadfall - but more importantly, ready to face Pern. The inexorable pair flew as one, ever vigilant.

Round 2 - Day 2 - Roll 1: General Grid Bronze Vedmath: 9/16 HP Held saves: 0
Quote: 5. It's a classic textbook maneuver. An ugly strand of Thread is falling down, drifting, blowing, squirming on the wind. If it stays course it will put it right in your airspace. Your dragon shifts position, veers, and manages to catch the tangle with a belch of flame. Nothing to this Thread thing, nope!
If he seemed ignorant, or was thought to have fallen behind in his estimation of his clutchmates' growth, so much the better for him. In certain ways, being underestimated could be immensely valuable. It was a good position from which to watch, and he was happy to occupy it for however long he needed to. In the meantime, there was more immediate work to be done, work that was no less important.
His had been waiting for this fight for a long time, and the satisfaction Vedmath felt in him every time they charred Thread from the sky made him eager for more.

Round 2 - Day 2 - Roll 2: General Grid Blue Strigonth: 9/12 hp Held saves: 0
Quote: 3. Your dragon spots a silver strand of Thread. You visualize the space you need to go to flame it, but don't take into account the wind, or your dragon's flight speed. Instead, you appear Between but have completely overshot your airspace and are now out in the open, exposed, and with no Thread anywhere near you. Shaffit all! Don't you look the fool. Whoops.
Again they leapt forth in confidence, and again they were left just short—though more the opposite, having overshot, really—their target. With a grimace they wheeled about, ducking back into formation. The wind was still erratic, still one moment, wild the next. They'd get the hang of things in time, they were sure.

There was no sunshine on this day, no mirth to be found in games and revelry. This was a game that Baihath had been forbidden to play, and yet it was the most important game of all! The young white was mantling his wings with uncharacteristic aggression, sulking and snappy as he glowered up at the sky with orange-streaked eyes. I can almost fly now! I can help! He insisted, writhing with displeasure.
Alya had stopped bagging firestone in order to comfort her bonded, clicking her tongue even as he fussed and whined. "I know, my love." She murmured, stroking at his head. "But we haven't learned how to have you flame properly yet. What if we both get hurt? " Baihath made an audible sound of displeasure, and inspiration struck the young woman. Tucking her hands under the growing white's head, she forced him to look at her. "Why don't you wish them luck? Surely they'll be happy to know you're thinking about them! --once." She hastily amended as Baihath's eyes began to whirl green. "You don't want to distract them."
Baihath immediately reached out to the Spooky Weyrlings, whether he knew them or not. Good luck! Good luck! We are here waiting for you, so hurry back so we can play! He settled back with a sigh, already slipping back into his sulk. "Why don't you play with Eighth-Mark?" She suggested, and the weyrling swung his head to eye the green flitter nearby. Strigonth had sent her over... and that did make Baihath feel a little better. Well... okay.
It wouldn't be long until he was racing about the Weyr with the little green streaking behind him, naturally as underfoot as always.
