Queen Anne was rummaging through Ciaran’s bag for something sweeter than fruit, much to her trainer’s bemusement. Mimikyu had taken a few buns and moved off to the side of the group, not really in the mood to socialize. Shuppet and Duskull sat next to each other, laughing and sharing their food. Ciaran smiled to himself, happy to see how his team was growing and developing.
“So, Rowlet, are you enjoying being on part of my team so far?”
Rowlet nodded, chittering to the other ghost types so they could translate for him.

Entering Ten Carat Hill, Luna's Pokemon jumped from her arms to the ground. They seemed to be weary for some reason, but Luna couldn't be sure why. She took a few steps in and crossed her arms. For being named Ten Carat Hill, she didn't see any hills at all. Her eyes scanned the area as she walked further in, her Pokemon trailing behind her cautiously. The girl contemplated her cousin, Lana. She hadn't seen Lana in person in such a long time, and honestly, it wasn't like they spoke very often otherwise. Usually, it was just big family gatherings where they'd meet up and hang out. Suddenly, Luna started to sweat just thinking about the few things she did know about Lana. Lana was hardworking, seemed to love the outdoors, and was totally confident. She just had that air about her.
Basically, the opposite of Luna. Her face became crestfallen as she continued to walk absentmindedly until she bumped into a Pokemon. It was a weird teddy bear that drunkenly teetered in place, but nearly fell over from Luna kneeing it in the back of the head. "Ah! I'm sorry! Er... what are you?" Luna pulled up her Pokedex and saw its name on the screen. "Oh, Spinda... Guess they named you that cause you are all... spinny and stuff?"
As if offended, the Spinda shook its fist at Luna, though the action made it nearly fall over. Still, it had an air of menace to it just like most angry bears do. Ava the Pichu bravely hopped in front of Luna, and she was poised to attack. Spinda teetered to the right, and Ava tried to attack. Spinda suddenly smirked and punched Ava dropping its feint. Pichu flew backwards into Luna's legs, its face dazed with pain until it fell unconscious. "What the heck???"
Luna quickly dropped down and pulled Pichu to her chest. She looked at the Spinda, who seemed to exude a dark presence. It seemed to be eyeing her Popplio, that was bworking sadly behind her. Luna's eyes narrowed. There was only one thing to do.
In a swift motion, Luna picked up Popplio and ran deeper into Ten Carat Hill. To anyone who didn't witness what just happened, she would have seemed like a little girl who suddenly learned that monsters were, in fact, totally real. She screamed, "LANA!! HELP! I'M BEING ATTACKED BY A TEDDY BEAR!" The Spinda gave chase for a moment, but given its dizzy nature, fell to the ground about 5 seconds into its run and subsequently gave up.

Making sure everyone was fully healed, Adder set off with Chikorita further into the cave. Cling maintained his grip on his wrist, while Charmander tried to look around for signs of eggs. It shouldn't be too hard, especially given her flame tail, which she was smartly using to light up dark areas, grabbing it and bringing it around to hold in front o fher like a candle. Adder and Chikorita had to focus on finding pokemon, and they managed to locate a Sableye lurking in a corner after a bit. The battle wasn't too hard, but it showed that the pokemon here were a bit tougher than he remembered. Or perhaps Chikorita was just weaker than his pokemon had been last time he was here...

Adder made sure to heal Chikorita up after her battle, and planned to do so every battle, just to make sure. He noticed he was going to need to restock on supplies some, though, next time he was in a city. And then there was the matter of whether he'd walk back, trace the path he knew he needed to take to get badges, do the challenges, and all that, or whether he ought to just skip around and get the eggs while he could. The exchange and such was at Iki Town, though, so... he'd be back anyway....

While Adder and Chikorita trained, Charmander curiously wandered around, looking over, occasionally, at the two gaseous pokemon Adder had had floating around with him. Honestly, she had a slightly hard time telling them apart, though one was clearly more chipper than the other. She knew they were psychic, she'd felt one sort of poking around in her head earlier, but she didn't really know much else about them. Other than that her trainer seemed pretty conflicted regarding having them around.

Pulling her gaze back to the search, Charmander lifted a rock, and perked up as she found an egg. She set the rock aside and grappled at the egg, prying it from between two others. She clutched it to her chest and looked around, perking up as she spotted Adder, and waddling over, giving a little cry to get his attention. He glanced over at the pokemon that they had just been battling, then called over the others so they could leave. She honestly was rather happy with herself. So many of these little things, she'd found! And it was so fun, too!

Takumi began to climb up the nearby hill, feeling an odd desire to see everything from up high. He scratched absently at his eye through the fabric that covered it. Gods, would it ever heal? It was just a reminder pestering him with memories. If he was going to remember, he wanted it to be on his terms, preferably while coming up with some kind of plan to deal with...everything. But the breeze as he climbed higher up the hill was nice, and the bright day buoyed his mood whether he wanted it to or not.
Takumi was huffing, puffing, and sweating when he got to the meadow at the top. He was for the first time actually grateful Jun had left so he wasn't here to see this. It wasn't just that Takumi wasn't used to physical exercise- he was also not used to this heat, even if the sea breeze did help him cool off. His skin felt almost like it was vibrating from the warmth of the sun. He probably wouldn't be pale for very long like this.
Takumi released his new pokemon, and was pleased with his choice when he saw it flutter to the ground. Poised and cute, just like Nala and Tzut. All the way up the hill he'd been considering a good name, and he'd finally decided to rest on Merlin. "Here Merlin, you should meet Tzut." Takumi released the small natu and introduced the birds to each other. Tzut had a good nature, and was not miffed by the addition of another bird to the party. "Looks like there's a wild pokemon over there. Merlin, let's see if you can fight." Takumi pointed to a diglett, although it was a little weird. Was that...a hair sticking from its head? "Merlin, use..." Takumi frowned. What was that attack it knew? Leaf...? "Leafage," he read from his pokedex. As he did so, the pokedex picked up the wild diglett. "Diglett, the mole pokemon, Alolan form." Alolan form? "Tch." Takumi saw that this "alolan form" meant that grass attacks wouldn't be as useful as normal. At least the diglett's mud-slap was easily avoided by Merlin. Takumi grew worried when the diglett used scratch, but luckily its follow up sand attack had no effect and Merlin was able to win.
Takumi rubbed Merlin down, pleased with how silky the feathers felt. I...have to get better at battling, don't I? He'd been expecting to rely on Jun for protection. Now he would need to be good enough on his own. As if the world was looking to prove him unable to take care of himself, a sableye leaped from the grass to swipe at Merlin. "Jesus!" Takumi fell back on his butt, eyes wide. He hadn't even seen the thing creeping up from the nearby cave. He did notice the zubat, it's friend maybe, fluttering closer. A double battle, huh? Takumi sent out Nala and had her use hypnosis on the zubat so they could focus on the sableye first.

Another two pokemon approached, attracted by the battle. When it was over, Takumi took a walk through the meadow to calm down. He felt jittery, his chest tight. Part of it was fear, that he could easily be crept up on. More than that though was the memory that Jun was supposed to be here to protect him for that kind of stuff. Takumi kept telling himself he was okay, but after his family, he'd really thought... well, there was no reason for it but he'd believed at least Jun wouldn't leave him. "Guess even money can't make anyone stick with me." He chuckled ruefully, hands running through Nala's fur. "Except you guys. Though you don't really have a choice..." Nala barked, butting his hand as if to say he was stupid for even suggesting it. Takumi ran a hand through his hair and stood. Ducky wasn't really bothered by Lana taking a phone call and stepping aside. In fact, he took this opportunity to take out his own phone for a bit, quietly snapping a picture of Lana's behind as she was engrossed in the call. Sure, she was taken, but there was no harm in the eye candy. He saved the image and decided to drop his friend Vinny a text. Text to: Vinny hey vinny how's it going? meet any hot chicks yet? ;3c or hot guys? He sent that message, then looked up to see that Lana was still a bit busy. He continued on his own phone, sending the pic of Lana to Jiang, but it ended up sending to Vinny as well, with the caption 'something went twang ;3'. As Lana finished up and apologized to Ducky, he stuffed his phone back into his bag as if he had just been making innocent texts to his mother. "Don't worry about it." he smiled in response to her apology. The expression was quickly replaced with a playful pout as she gave him a hard look and warned him against flirting with her younger cousin, who apparently was going to meet up with her. "Miss Lana, what kind of man do you take me for?" he feigned hurt, but smirked. "I'll behave." he added, assuring her that he would not actively make lines at Luna. At least not in front of or in earshot of Lana. Depending on how young and pretty this Luna was.
He soon found out as another trainer ran in screaming to Lana about being attacked by a teddybear. She was pretty cute, though he had to admit next to Lana, she wasn't exactly 'standout'. Still pretty though. Type: Null backed off a bit as the girl had approached, apparently startled by the screaming and sudden appearance of yet another person. The chimera kept it's distance for now. "I take it this is your cousin Luna?" Dakota looked to Lana for confirmation, flashing a friendly smile.

Lana was completely unaware of the booty shots Ducky was taking, far too engrossed with concern for Luna and reassuring herself that her cousin would be just fine. Turning to her acquaintance, she was only relieved he wasn't upset about her phone calls, and seemed to have taken the opportunity to use his own device. That didn't stop Lana from warning Ducky to behave around Luna. She might've tolerated his flirting when he didn't know about her engagement with Hank, but she certainly wouldn't allow such behavior around her little cousin, and she had a hard time believing Ducky's promise to behave, but she nodded, silently taking his word for it and promising that she would beat him black and blue if he broke said promise. Was she being overprotective? Probably, but it was just in her nature, and she had good reason to be.
Luna's yelling only reinforced Lana's protective instincts as she tensed and turned back towards the entrance to the cave, watching as the brunette came running over, screaming about being attacked by a teddy bear. Lana would have laughed if it weren't for the panic in Lana's eyes as well as the fainted pichu and scared popplio in her arms. "Oh dear...." Lana sighed, waving her cousin over into her open arms. "It's alright darlin', I don't think it's followin' ya." Lana reassured her with a gentle pat on the shoulder. "Ah, yeah. Luna, this is Ducky. Ducky, Luna." Lana introduced, keeping an eye out for whatever pokemon had terrorized Luna.
The only teddy bear pokemon she could think of were Stufful. If that were the case, she could understand why Luna was terrified. Stufful certainly appeared cute and cuddly, but they were fierce and hated to be hugged. Unfortunately, Lana wasn't that familiar with the pokemon on this island, so she couldn't be sure. "What sort of pokemon did you run into hun?" She asked curiously, kneeling down a little to take a look at her pichu. Whatever they had run into, it had certainly done a number on the electric type. "We'll need to get this little lady to a pokemon center quickly..." She insisted, standing and shaking her head with a sigh. "This is my fault, I shoulda just come after you. I didn't know yer pokemon were still so inexperienced, they've got no business fighting off wild pokemon way out here. Yer lucky I'm here with ya or ya'd be in real trouble." Lana said sternly. She wasn't accusing Luna of anything, but she certainly hoped the girl had learned her lesson.
Aristotle cocked his head, taking a closer look at the popplio in Luna's arms. ( "Hoo. Wonderful. The group is all here now." ) He trilled unenthusiastically, sinking further into his feathers and closing his eyes, much preferring to tune everyone and everything out until he was alone at last.
