Leaving the professors lab he sighed a mix of boredom and relief. He knew the journey ahead of him would be long, but at the very least it would be exciting. For the first time in his life he was on his own, although he enjoyed travelling with his parents and using their knowledge and skill to boost his own talent, there was something about being off on his own that changed the game entirely. There was something in the air as a breeze blew past Daichi, in his jacket he now had three Pokemon of his own, who he didn’t have to give back to the tournament holders or his parents. That was an interesting thought. The Cyndaquil he got from Elm he would name Ashai, which meant Morning Sun, as in Cyndaquil was the start of a journey, and he was the start of it.
Although he had given up most of his Pokemon when he left his parents’ side he couldn’t bring himself to leave without two of the younger Pokemon he was looking to train. Tobio, a shiny variant Ralts, and Takanobu, a rare fossil type Tyrunt, he brought them partially because of their rarity but he also enjoyed the personalities the two exhibited. With the three Pokemon in his jacket he was ready to take down the Johto league. But not before making a small stop to use a particularly rare item he had slipped away from his parents.

Pulling from his pocket a special item called a Rage Candybar, despite his good willed nature and pension for playing by the rules, he knew that the professors of each region would trade one of these for one of their regions starter Pokemon. He wasn’t going to use it on a professor who was going to give him a Pokemon for free. Although he was well aware he was playing around with the rules a little bit, he did bring two other Pokemon to see Elm, which for that reason alone, should have been enough for him to not give up a Pokemon. Smiling as he twirled the candy bar in his hand and had a feeling he knew where he was going to head next.
Daichi wasn’t too interested in capturing weak Pokemon, with the four rare Pokemon he had in his possession he would be able to last quite some time in any league. He had an idea of which Pokemon he wanted to get, as he had done a fair amount of research on which Pokemon the region’s professors offered. He chose Johto because it was the first league his father had tackled, and he was unable to defeat the Johto Leauge so it was a constant goal of his fathers. It would be a chance to surpass his parents. Although that was still a long time away Tōru had set his mind on it, and he wasn’t about to give up any time soon.

Heading towards the train station in New Bark he was only going to make a small stop in the Hoenn Region, he wanted to use this Rage bar, get his starter Pokemon, return to Johto, and begin his journey here. He really wanted to make sure that he was able to compete in the Johto league and didn’t want the other starting Pokemon to be lagging behind in experience. With the team working together they would be much better accustomed to working with one another, there was no point in training with three and planning on having more than that in the future. The league had a restriction on using a maximum of six Pokemon in any battle. With that in mind he knew that he would rather have his core team be as close as possible.
The town was small enough that the station was within a short walks distance from anywhere in New Bark. Running his hand through his hair he arrived at the small train station, the stations allowed for easy early access between regions for those who wanted to travel before starting their journeys. There was other stations littered throughout the region but he knew that using the Fly technique was ultimately the best way to get around. Unfortunately because he didn’t bring a Pokemon with fly along with him he figured that he would ride the train like everyone else. Approaching the counter he spoke to the man behind it, “One ticket to Littleroot Town please.” Sliding the ticket across the counter he walked over to the platform and looked both ways over the edge, there didn’t seem to be a train close either way. So the waiting game would begin.

╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════╗ He was fairly well versed in the Johto league, he knew about the gym leaders already and had already seen most of them in action by watching his father trying to topple the league. The leaders of the region were particularly tough and could put up a challenge even to a veteran trainer. In particular it was Blackthorn cities gym that gave him particular trouble, and Toru would make sure that he didn’t fall into the same traps that his father did. Things were sure to have changed since he remembered his dad trying to tackle the league but for the most part he was looking forward to seeing just who was in charge of the gyms in the Johto region now. And that meant that Violet city would be his first stop, for the first badge of eight that he would be tasked with collecting. Like the other leagues he would need to take down eight gyms and get their badges before challenging the Elite Four of the region and facing the champion, the most powerful trainer in the region.
But his journey had to start somewhere, and now, for the second time in a couple of days he was in New Bark town ready to set out, this time towards Johto’s first city. ╠═══════════════════════════════════════════════╣

He wanted to make sure that they felt like just as much a part of the team as he was. “Here we go, you all and I are going to move forward towards the Pokemon Leauge together. Make me proud out there with every battle,” looking to his left Takanobu and Tobio, the two Pokemon whom he had brought with him to start the journey. Switching his view over to his right he looked at the two new Pokemon he had gathered from the professors, “you do your best and I’ll do mine. Together, we’re going to stand on top of the world.” Although he couldn’t read their thoughts he knew exactly what being in a team felt like, and these Pokemon relied on him to be their leader. ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════╗ Daichi stretched out and prepared to head onto Route 29 towards Cherrygrove City. Takanobu and Tobio knew the drill already and they stretched out beside him. Humorously at that it was a sharp contrast between Daichi’s long althetic build and Takanobu’s short dinosaur arms. He smiled towards the little dinosaur as he knelt down to tied up his shoes. Taking his first step out of the small beginning town and onto Route 29 marked the officially beginning of his journey. With his Pokemon shortly behind he turned around and looked at the quartet. Returning them to their balls, for safety, he slipped his hands into his pockets and began casually down the path.
He had hoped that Cherrygrove wasn't too far, the weather was nice enough to enjoy the causal stroll but at the same time he was hoping that he wouldn't have to wander aimlessly for too long. He didn't like wasting time, he had no problem travelling if he had a goal, the last thing he wanted to do was lollygag and lose focus. He got an amused look on his face, withdrawing his hand from Takumi's head. Weird kid. "I don't know. I think your Nala is softer."
Vin had returned, the riolu hurrying to Jun's side now that her battles were finished. "We should move on, Takumi." Jun didn't like staying in one place for too long, even if it was an out of the way town like this one.
Takumi couldn't argue with that, though he did feel unsatisfied (mostly with himself). He sighed. "Yeah, okay." Feeling surly, he decided to do what he'd been planning on doing for a while. He took out his pokedex and sent his cyndaquil and porygon away, having decided he didn't like them very much. Then he followed behind Jun, Nala at his heels, heedless of the eyes that watched them from the forest...
Jun raised his eyebrows at Takumi's sending away his pokemon but said nothing. In Jun's eyes, it seemed irresponsible. After all, the boy had just gotten that cyndaquil. That's Takumi though, he thought to himself. "Come, Vin." His Riolu looked towards the forest, her gaze lingering because she sensed strong emotion coming from it but she left it alone and followed along when she determined the source to not be malevolent.

Once back outside Olivia took the time to stretch, wrapping her hands behind her back and pushing back until a satisfying pop was heard, followed by a sigh from her. That had been easy, she'd obtained her starter and pokedex, now all she had to do was wait to hear from her superiors and introduce her newest pokemon to her team; though the latter was more of a personal need. Since she'd yet to get a call she decided to get the introductions out of the way, squatting down and wrapping one arm loosely around her knees once she'd released Cyndaquil.
"Well hey there, little spitfire," Olivia greeted, only to have it brushed off as the fire-mouse immediately found more interest in their surroundings than her trainer. She toddled a few feet, nose twitching as she sniffed the air, before she eventually turned around to look at the pinkette, squeaking in surprise. Had she really only just know noticed her? The woman scratched her cheek lightly, unsure whether or not to be offended or surprised. "They really didn't let you out much, huh?" she mused and with her other hand she stretched her hand out. Cyndaquil shuffled forward, sniffing her hand, before she gently head-butted it. They were off to a good start!

Once a friendly, albeit tentative, relationship was established Olivia straightened up onto her feet, hands already grappling to pull out another pokeball. "Might as well meet another team member while we're here," she explained as Valerian materialized, the taller pokemon standing proudly in the air before she looked down at Cyndaquil. The starter squeaked once more, the flames on her back erupting, only to begin warily sniffing at the towering pokemon's feet once she'd managed to compose herself. "Cynda..." she murmured. "Eh, don't let her looks fool you, she's harmless," Olivia assured, and as an example patted the back of the pokemon's head. "Just, uh... don't touch her hand, or the top of her head. Or her feet."
"Bi." (Hello, young one) Valerian greeted, her tone surprisingly warm despite her stoic expression. She moved forward, stretching her body out and loosening whatever kinks she'd managed to accumulate while in her pokeball. Olivia watched the two not quite interact, Cyndaquil was too busy staring up in awe to engage in any sort of conversation, but gather close together in companionable comfort. Whatever fear the fire-type had held for the strange pokemon had simmered down, leaving behind only a curiosity that was overpowered by the occasional distraction.
