Weaving around the crowds, Jacque tried to distract himself from his frustrations with the city by focusing on what lay ahead. He didn't actually know anything about the first gym here-- in fact, he simply assumed it was rock-ground type like so many others in the other regions-- but he was fairly certain he would be using Dewott. Maybe see what he had got with that Balm Mushroom item thingy he had given him. Scy and Jesse were too strong to use, he could sort of pick up on it, even if he couldn't technically see them, and he wasn't sure whether Zoey or Quena would have much of a move range for that sort of typing. Quena definitely wouldn't be set up for that kind of match... He might also withdraw some of the other pokemon he had got, maybe start training them up a bit as well.

Felix felt more than a little uncomfortable as he entered Lumiose from the south. It was the largest city in Kalos, after all, and more than a slight bit intimidating. That wasn't exactly why the city made him wary, though. No, what bothered him was that the size of the city meant it would be a monster to pass through. Likewise, it was highly probably that whatever broadcast of his exploits there might be would start from the city he was now in. That meant the man couldn't really afford to be delayed for too long, at least not while in Lumiose.

The man tried to act natural as he continued making his way through the city. He knew exactly which way he needed to go, but it was rather annoying that he actually had to forge through the large location in order to get there. It was faster than trying to go the long way around, though, which was a bit of a saving grace at the moment. Finally, it seemed Felix had reached the halfway point. Up ahead was the Prism Tower, which both served as the gym and acted as an important landmark within the city. That meant he was almost through the area. A good thing, too, as he was growing worried. For all the difficulty he had earlier, things were starting to become a bit too easy. Then again, there hadn't been much time between his theft and him reaching the city. Perhaps news had not traveled as fast as he feared? Shaking his head, the man kept pushing forward.

After entering Southern Lumiose, Ace was taken aback at how similar the city looked to Amaratha's own capital. the main street circled around the city much like Serianathem. It made him wonder if maybe this city got inspiration from Serianathem, or if it was the other way around? How old exactly was Lumiose city compared to Serianathem? Whatever the case, Ace's sight seeing had distracted him far to long, making him miss all hope of visiting the Tanabata Festival, whatever it was. With a frown the male headed for the nearest Pokemon Center to figure out where he was to head next.

Find the Pokemon Center wasn't all that hard. Despite being apart of a much larger building it was all together noticable by the bright red awning over the entryway and the large 'Poke Center' in bold print on the Awning. Ace determined he'd head in and head out, which is just what he did. After locating a map of the city as well as Kalos in a whole, he found his next destination was Cyllage City. A note by the map stated that the gym within Lumiose and North of Lumiose were not ideal for beginners. "Cyllage city it is... Rock-types, huh?" Grimacing he didn't like the sound of that. Rock-types likely had ground-type moves, which were his least favorite. Amarantha could deal with them though, right? Same with Derosa.

Reaching up to his shoulder, Ace's finger met with Amarantha's tiny body. "We've got some training to do. You're a fighter, that much is evident." He grinned to the fairy-type, who shyly hugged her flower. She nodded with a cute look of determination. Ace himself hesitated when he went to grab for Derosa's ball.... She'd been acting strange ever since he'd left the Santalune Forest. Something had to of happened to make her feel so down trodden, and it worried him that she'd end up being... useless, when it came to battle at least. He couldn't afford keeping weak Pokemon on him team, but at the same time she was a gift from his beloved queen, so boxing or putting her off wasn't an option. Perhaps it was just a phase and she was back to her old self again? Nurse Joy certainly hadn't said anything about Derosa's condition, so what was there to worry about? Come to think of it... 'Why am I so worried about her?' It couldn't be just because she was a gift from his highness. Did he actually care for this Pokemon like his other Pokemon? Perhaps he did.

Dumuzi made his way towards the south side of Lumiose city where he found a nice run of grass to catch pokemon in, he released Titania as he felt that she had been rather left out when it came to being able to come out and walk around with him. As he began searching though the tall grass, he looked around for his targeted pokemon and decided that whatever else came by he would ignore, there was no sense fighting pokemon that he wasn’t going to capture and now that he needed to be conservative of what he was doing as far as levels were concerned, he didn’t see much use in it. Du was pushing around the bushes when he felt a familiar presences in his head. ’Du, may I ask you something?’ Titania started, though judging by the hesitant tone in her voice this was going to be a bit of an awkward question. Du paused for a moment before going back to searching. ”Sure Titania, what’s up?” He wasn’t sure what she was going to ask him, but if she waited till they were more or less alone to ask it, it may have been some sort of private matter, either to the pokemon or the human who was being asked. ’Why do you hide the thing that makes you happy?’ Titania asked cautiously, she didn’t really understand humans, they were much different than pokemon and only having spent a little time with them, she wasn’t sure about a lot of aspect of them, Du’s core of happiness surrounded by the vile emotions that made an outer shell baffled her. She knew that he wasn’t a bad person, and yet, there was all of this animosity, fear and anger that he kept inside. It had faded when he was at the festival, she felt it and she wanted to understand why he wanted to hid the thing that made him happy. It was truly a mystery. Dumuzi stopped fully in his tracks. His eyes narrowed gently as he thought about how to answer Titania’s question and how to best explain it to her in a way that she might understand. Du’s eyes dropped to the left. ”Well…” Du straightened up and looked over to Titania. ”Humans… are strange creatures, Titania. There are a bunch of rules and such that we have to obey in order to live among each other as a species. The things that make me happy… they tend to be outside of these rules that humans made in order to make each other happy and live together in relative harmony. So, that’s why I hid them. I don’t want to be out casted by other humans because of the thing that makes me happy…” Titania’s face scrunched up in confusion. ”I don’t understand, if this was such a big thing to humans to obey these rules, then why did you find such happiness during the festival? The other humans didn’t seem to be upset with your being, if anything they seemed to enjoy their time with you. What is this rule that you are disobeying that makes you happy but would have you chased out by other humans from your society?’ Again, Dumuzi fell silent, when Titania said it that way it made him wonder himself why he was so hidden. But at the same time… he also experienced firsthand the cruelty of what humans –or at least children- could be like. It was hard question to answer, and it wasn’t one that he was sure that he was ready to come out to yet, he wasn’t sure why he found happiness in being a girl so… he really didn’t know how to answer the question truthfully. Du felt a little hand placed upon his leg, snapping him out of his thoughts and bring him back to reality. ’You can tell me.’ She said gently. Dumuzi looked down and smile softly at Titania. ”I’m not sure… I know how.” Du replied simply. He closed his eyes for a moment as he tried to organize his thoughts so that he could answer his friend with. It was about then that the bushes rustled and a Skiddo popped out not far from them and started to turn its attention to the grass that was growing nearby.
”Shall I?” Du’s face softened. ”No, let’s leave it be. We don’t need to fight, we’re only here for another type of pokemon to help us with contests, there is no reason to engage anything else.” ”As you wish.’ Titania replied, her tone was amused more than monotone or disappointed. Perhaps she understood this mercy more than she was willing to admit and appreciated it within her human. ”Let’s be off then, I’m sure that the pokemon we are looking for is nearby.”

’Du, if this human thing is bothering you so much, then why don’t you just stop being a human?’ The suggestion caught Du off guard and she started to laugh, it took her a few minutes to calm down enough to be able to answer her pokemon. ”It’s not that easy, Titania. I can’t just stop being a human any more than you can just stop being a pokemon. Human beings are social creatures, we need to have people around us and have those around us be positive in their socialization with us in order to have a healthy life.” Titania could understand that, she knew what it was like to be alone and how mind numbing that could be. Titania pondered for a moment before looking up at Dumuzi again. Then I must ask… if these rules that humans have apply to everyone, then about those other humans that you were with at the festival? They accepted you when you broke these strange rules, I am confused as to why those humans were to accept you, but others would not. And I am also puzzled as to what rules that apply to your happiness that prevents you from having it. I am very confused, please clarify. Dumuzi chuckled humorlessly a bit at the question. ”You really ask a lot of good questions, and I’m not sure what I can answer them…” Du gave an apologetic look to Titania who didn’t look very satisfied with that answer either. If only she knew what sort of questions that she was asking then maybe she would realize how hard they were to answer. If Titania was a human and familiar with human society then this conversation would be so much easier for a 13 year old to explain. But Titania had made it clear though her actions that she really wasn’t well acclimatised to the way that humans operated in their own society. I remember when you were talking with Viola, you mentioned something about modeling, but then you stated: which one? What did you mean by that?’ Perhaps if she broke down the questions into easier ones, she could get some better answers. ”Oh… I just meant that people get my gender confused, so it was a little tongue and cheek regarding that, I was asking what gender she saw me modeling as.” Du smiled gently. Finally she had a question that he could answer without having to try and think of a way to explain complicated things to her pokemon. ’What gender did you want to be?’ Titania asked curiously, her head tilting slightly in the process. She didn’t know humans could change gender, but now that she thought about it, there were an awful lot of humans would address her human as either ‘ma’am’ or ‘sir’ and there never was a general consensus about if her human was male or female. Was that the rule that Dumuzi wasn’t allowed to break? Du slowed to a stop, as if the question itself had stunned her in some way. Dumuzi’s eyes dropped to the ground and an odd mixture of sadness and amusement. ”I’ve never been asked that before.” Dumuzi fell silent. He didn’t move and he didn’t look up. For so long he had only been told to toughen up and be a man that he wasn’t sure that this was a choice that he had. There had always been shame attached to what he wanted. ”I want… I…” Du felt a little hand on his leg again. Titania was looking up at him again. Remember what Taz told you, Du? This is your journey and you should be able to follow whatever you want to do and do what makes you feel happy. If you want to be a girl, then be one on your journey. I can sense the hesitation that you have, the fear that grows inside you at the thought of it. Nobody knows you, spare those humans at the Festival. What harm would you do to the other humans if you chose one of those genders that most of the people can’t even get right anyway?” Du clenched his eyes shut and balled his hands into tight fists. He knew what he wanted, but Titania was right. He was afraid, he was afraid what might happen if others found out about him, he was afraid of losing his family over this… he was afraid that this would be something that once started he might not like it and there would be no going back. A calming pet came down his leg. ’If you are afraid to take big leaps to get this happiness, why not take little ones to ease yourself into it?’ Titania suggested. ’Is there something that you could do that you can think of that would help?’ Du opened his eyes and looked down at Titania who was looking up at him expectedly. ”Well… I’ve always wanted my ears pierced. Some guys have them pierced but… for the most part it’s largely the girls who get it done.” Du always did want his ears pierced, and it wasn’t something that was permanent, either. Perhaps that was a safe start then? ’Yes-Yes~! Wonderful! Let’s get your ears pierced then! Let’s go now! Titania spun on her tip toes excitedly, she was practically chomping at the bit to get that hidden happiness that Du held within him out and into the open. It seemed that she was starting to crack the case of the mysterious Dumuzi a little more. She took this information in stride. Honestly, she and most other people didn’t care what gender of human they got, just so long as it was a kind one. Du was a kind one, and if he wanted to become a female then all the power to him, though… that did raise a question… could humans become one gender or another. Hmm… maybe she would ask some other time. For the most part, Du seemed like he was a little uncomfortable with these questions that she was asking so far. Du giggled. ”Let’s at least grab a Swirlix first, okay? I really don’t want to have to go back and forth into the city then out again if I don’t have to. After we get one, we can get my ears pierced before we head off to Sinnoh, how does that sound?” Du tried to calm his excited pokemon down a little bit. Although it was never something his parents would allow and he could do it because of the freedom, he didn’t think that it was that big of a deal. Titania stopped spinning. Hmm… well, if you want to wait till we at least catch a Swirlix first. It can be a celebration thing that we finished getting all the friends that you wanted to make your pack!

The teasing seemed to have died down a little bit and the pair once more started their chatter, weaving in and out of the conversation of Du’s gender identity disorder and a few other minor things. The pair were slow and surely starting to get to know each other better and were starting to get a deeper understanding of one another. ’Ah! So you were planning on going and doing these performances as Feya then? That might be a good way to start and see how the world overall would treat you, and you definitely have an ally with Taz and this Isis and Leon person that you met during the festival. I think you’ll find that things won’t be anywhere near as bad as you would think. In fact, I think that you’ll discover something about yourself that you didn’t realize you had.’ Titania nodded confidently, she was sure of this one, then again she was pretty sure that once Du got a taste of that happiness he wasn’t going to want to let it go very easily. Du quirked his eyebrow and smirked as he looked down at his traveling buddy. It was so much more amusing to have a conversation with Titania then to wander around alone in silence or daydreaming. ”Pray tell, is that your woman’s intuition talking, or is that your Psychic powers coming to their own?” Du asked. She had been more than right about that fateful encounter and who knew? Maybe she would be right about this because of her psychic abilities. Then again, she could just be feeding him the information that he wanted to hear too. Titania beamed over at him. ’Yes.’ she replied simply, earning a chuckle out of Dumuzi in the process. A rustling from the bushes caught their attention and Dumuzi and Titania paused and waited to see what came out of the bushes this time. Much to Dumuzi’s joy, the very pokemon that he had been looking for had come out of the bush in front of him.

Du grinned and pulled out one of his fastballs, he had one so he might as well used it and see if it lived up to its hype. Du threw the pokeball and knocked the pokemon in the noggin, it was pulled into the pokeball as a red splash of color before the ball dropped to the ground,. [ roll of 6 - successful capture] it twitched once, twice, then three times before it came to a stop and the sound of locking gears told him that he had achieved what he set out to do. Du threw his fist into the air. ”Alright! I caught the final pokemon that I was looking for!” ’This is wonderful news!’ Titania stated happily and spun around on her toes. ’And, now that you’ve caught the pokemon, you can go and get your ears pierced.’ Du picked up his prize and looked over at Titania, his face had softened and he nodded his head. ”Yes, that was the deal. Alright then, let’s get going then. I did say that this would be something that I did once this task was accomplished.” Du placed the pokeball into his bag, only to have it teleport to where his storage system was. It had been a really good day for him! He started to head back towards Santalune where he could start organizing his thoughts and such for the move sets for his pokemon. After he got his ears pierced, of course.

Grimacing, Jay ducked his head down, following Scizor into the city. He reached a hand up, holding it to one ear to try and at least minimize the amount of sound assaulting his senses. He really wished the place wasn't so big; he could handle this for five minutes, if he needed, but it took longer than that to get across the city to the train station. He scrunched up his nose against the odors, too, grumbling as he walked. Sure, the smell of various foods was great, but that came second to the stench of everything else. Jiminy... Why did he have to go through here?

The object in his hand felt almost like a rod, but it had something sharp on the edge. He ran his fingers over it, frowning when Mime Jr suddenly jumped up-- he didn't even know she could hop that high-- and grabbed onto his shoulder, pulling herself over to look at the object. He shifted his weight, then continued walking. "That looks like a Poison Barb!" she chimed. He turned his head slightly, hearing her voice by his ear, along with the telepathic translation broadcasted directly to his brain. "Ah wat?" he replied, reaching a hand blindly out until he felt Scizor's shoulder, holding onto his shoulder to pull himself ahead a bit, and keep a hand on him. All the noise, and the distraction, and now Mime Jr, had him getting a bit turned around.

’Are you serious?’ Titania giggled a bit. ’He did it like that? Titania put her hands up to her face and giggled harder, she couldn’t believe that human would have do something like that the way that Du had described, oh my… that certainly would be an embarrassing learning point for all involved and probably would have carried over for a lifetime of teasing and playful ridicule from his peers. Du was giggling as well, just the memories of it never failed to crack her up at least a little. ”Oh yeah, it was certainly not something that he is going to live down for a while. Though it did serve him right for being so cocky and not really having any idea of what he was doing.” Still thought, there was something to be said about the incident, though Du had no idea other than side splitting laughter about want on earth it could have been. Titania slowed her giggles as best she could, all things considering, and looked over at Du, when her eyes suddenly dropped down to her human’s bag. ”Hmm? Dumuzi, your bag is twitching slightly…’ Du looked down with a smile still bringing a red to her cheeks, at first she thought that maybe Titania was pulling her leg, but the expression on her face made her pause for concern when she didn’t ready any sort of joking intent. Du brought her bag in front of her so that she could investigate. ”Oh? Maybe I have another hitchhiker like Niamh, I really don’t think I need any more pokemon though.” Du opened her bag but didn’t see anything right away, well, that wasn’t a surprise, she didn’t really feel as though there was anything new in her bag. Last time, she at least felt a weight in her bag, this time… not so much. ”Let’s see what we got here… hopefully it isn’t anything poisonous or hungry for human flesh.” After a little investigating and with a little game of ‘follow the leader’ with the small shuffling in her backpack she finally found a Klefki that had somehow made its way in here and somehow got into her bag. ”Ah ha! There you are. What on earth are you doing in my bag?” Du had to admit, the pokemon was absolutely adorable in its own, strange little way. It looked up at her for a moment before it lifted itself out of Du’s bag and put some distance between the, that’s when Du noticed that his house keys were on the otherwise empty Key ring of the pokemon. Dumuzi bawked and gave a dramatic point to the pilfering pokemon. ”H-hey! Those are my house keys! I need those!” Du made a grab for the pokemon who nimbly pulled away and started to take off towards the Northern boundaries of Lumiose City. Titania also made a valiant attempt at trying to catch the pokemon but it deftly dodged the psychic fairy and continued on its way. ”Hey! Come back! Oh~!” Dumuzi took after it with Titania dutifully following in pursuit, there was no way that she could let that pokemon get away from here, not with those house keys!

Zoey seemed to linger in the air a moment, then swept back down, landing on Jay's shoulder and nestling up to his neck again.
