Cain was about to take umbrage about the shoes, after all he hadn't left them on the shelf but on the floor. If they'd been on the shelf, one of the servants must have placed them there with the idea that he might find them that way. He was always losing his shoes... But then he gave him some news that threw the shoe issue right out the window, "You did WHAT?!" he cried out, then bolted for the shelves. From the description, he knew exactly what books to pull. But he had to get them off of the shelves fast! Thankfully, when he was focused like this, his clumsiness seemed to vanish and he moved with the perfect grace all vampires seemed to have. So he got the books off the shelves then stacked them all on the opposite side of the table and checked them over meticulously, showing an attention to detail that would probably make the idiot feel like an idiot. Finally, he gave a sigh of relief and leaned on the table with a heavy sigh, "Thank the gods... They haven't done anything..." he said softly then looked up at the idiot with a glare as he showed the title on the binding of one of the books then opened it and showed the title page, revealing that the book had, in fact, been properly shelved in the first place. "Never judge a book by its cover... These in particular. They're rare deliberate mis-bindings. They were MEANT to have a different title on the binding! Furthermore, these specific books were part of a cursed collection. As long as they're in their proper place, not the binding-title placement, then they behave. If they're shelved according to the binding-title, They will eventually wipe out every bit of ink within them," he informed him with a very contained and calm rage. His mismatched eyes, crimson and violet, seemed to brighten with his anger, showing them off to perfection whenever his temper flared. "If you care about books as much as you claim, you should know better than to mess with someone else's organization of their library. There are dangers in every library, this one was just a minor one that I've personally seen. If you'd paid ANY attention to the SIGNS posted in the library, you would have known to ASK for assistance whenever you encountered something strange or seemingly out of place. Any one of the servants in the castle would have been able to find me. It would have only delayed you, at best, 10 minutes. "As for the books you were using... You were ASLEEP! So I put them up in their PROPER place on the shelves and are easily found, provided you don't try such a STUPID mistake of trying to reorganize my library," he finished with another flash of his eyes then started the difficult task of moving the strange books to another location so that such a thing could never happen again. He carried them one by one to the back of the library where he had a set of crates being used as separator-shelves, meant for situations like these particular books. He set them back there with the intention of moving them to Sebastet's private library later. He might have sparked the idiots temper, but he'd made a royal idiot out of himself all on his own. And Cain had put up a very valid point... After all... Everyone knew that you didn't judge a book by its cover... Or a librarian by his method of organization...

Never judge a book by it's cover Falmon Thromwatch xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Falmon’s eyes grew wild as he’d listened before he grew even angrier “they were WHAT! why would you keep them in a general library like this, those books should have been kept someplace safe where they couldn’t be touched, and for the record neither you nor any servant were around to talk to, in fact when I had asked for a Library the only thing I was told was to go here, no one had even bothered to tell me that there were books that I needed to be aware of or for that matter that there was even a Librarian to begin with, as far as I could tell this library didn’t look like it had been used in a while. Had someone actually given a damn to begin with and told me you were here I would have waited for you to show up” sighing he stepped to the chair he was in before and sat down shaking his head, taking a deep breathe he pulled a small ledger out of the cylinder and opened it up to a list he’d been adding to every now and then, taking note that this location had cursed books that destroys themselves when in order, he knew later on that he was going to have to do some research on that subject since he’d never read anything regarding such a collection ever existing. Once he had penned it into that ledger he closed it up and put it back into the cylinder, grabbing his book he looked at his notes he’d already taken since coming here and found he’d fallen asleep during an observation he was obviously trying to write down as it seemingly just stopped mid-sentence, groaning he closed the book abruptly and put hand to face knowing he’d been doing this too long, even for a wolf like him he needed to take a break at some point, looking down he reached for the pocket watch he ad on his belt and opened it up to see he’d been there quite a while already and if his research notes were anything to go by, it appeared he might be around for a while yet before the next lead revealed itself. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx You may find that it is filled with valuable information.

Shortly after the blowup that Cain decided to ignore in favor of his own work, a servant came in and started looking through the library as if looking for someone. She gave a polite nod to Falmon as she passed him, continuing further into the library. "Ah! There you are Cain!" she finally called out, not bothering to whisper and spoke in a normal voice. After all, they were the only three inside the library... Cain blinked up at her from another scroll he was looking at, "Yes.... What was your name?" he started, then had to ask her name since he'd forgotten it. But everyone was used to that with him. There were only so many names that he wound up remembering, mostly long term residents or those born here that he'd taught. She gave a soft laugh, "I'm Anne, and that's the 15th time you've forgotten. As you told me to remind you. But I'm here to tell you that you have an hour to get upstairs. Sunrise is fifteen minutes past that," she told him, her tone sounding friendly but long-suffering as well, as if this wasn't the first time for any of it. But with Rose gone and with Dancer and Dev gone, there wasn't anyone else to remember that he needed to be out of the library during the daylight or when he needed to feed. So Sebastet had set up a schedule with the servants to get him out of the library, though she was still working on the feeding thing... He smiled at her, inadvertently reminding her that he was a visual heartthrob, "Thank you Anne. I'll head up now. If you could have someone send me up a tray with one of the special bottles for tonight, I'd appreciate it. Also, I need someone to be posted in here from now on. No matter the time, we need a person posted in here to direct visitors as needed or even send someone to find me if I'm needed," he told her, knowing that she'd pass the request on to Sebastet and it would get taken care of. He put the scrolls he was working with into their slots then sealed up the spelled books to be taken over to Sebastet's private library, then headed for the door to head upstairs to his rooms. As he left, Anne took note of the boxes that needed moved and headed to find someone to move them for her. On her way out, she passed Falmon again, giving him another nod with a smile this time.

Mary walked Cain into the library easily, having gotten him going to distract him, "I don't know how many times I have to tell you where your books are, Mary. They aren't that hard to find," he told her as he headed for a shelf with her in the back of the library, "Here are the sewing books, Mary, just as I told you. And the other patterns are all in the back with the scrolls, just as they always are," he explained with painstaking patience. He also removed the cloak she'd put on him in the garden and handed it back to her without thinking about it or why she'd put it on him. In truth, he had come out a little early and she'd saved him from getting a bit crispy. But he didn't realize it, as usual. She just gave him a kind smile, "Thank you Cain. I'm sorry I keep forgetting where they are. But you are such a sweetheart for showing me. I'll leave you to your work," she said simply as she collected one of the quilt pattern books and the cloak and left. Cain just shook his head and started going though the library to make sure that everything was where it was supposed to be. Especially after the last incident. That done, he headed over to the sitting area with one of his notebooks and a reference book he needed. He sat down, noting that the fireplace was going nicely, and simply started working on his notes. About two hours into his work, a servant brought him a cup of coffee and left it on the side table where he was sitting then left him be.

Falmon had stepped away from the fire long before Cain arrived and was busy standing by a bookshelf, a book in hand open, his lamp lit as he was reading through it before he closed it and returned it to its place before he grabbed his ledger and opened it up, taking notes of what he read and collecting his thoughts he was truly fascinated by what he had been reading, his research had progressed quite a bit and found that this castle was surprisingly old, which was a testament to the care that was put into keeping it maintained and simply sighed a bit before he closed his ledger and waved his hand by the lamp extinguishing the flame within and simply walked back to the glow where the fire was and came around a corner to see Cain there and just stood there looking at him with some curiosity but rather than say anything he simply walked over to a chair that he had moved closer to the fire and sat down, his cylinder was off to the side by a small table he’d taken over for his research and simply looked over there a moment and thought a moment of resuming but as late as it was he’d be better off just resting a moment and enjoying the warmth of the fire he lit up earlier when it got dark.

Cain took down a few more references then closed his notebook and took a sip from the coffee he'd been left. He noted the other male from before and silently considered that he'd better use some of the manners he'd been drilled in by Sebastet. She'd said something about not offending people. He couldn't understand it but he figured that he'd better use those manners now. Or at least make an attempt at it... He opened his mouth to say something but one of the servants came in with a note for him and he frowned as he read it while she left them alone again. He gave a soft sigh and folded it back, tucking it into a pocket. That secretary of Sebastet's was way too good at her job... But it Sebastet needed him for a job, he'd do it anyway. He looked at the other male again and went with the manners thing again. He took a sip of his coffee and motioned to the coffee tray on the coffee table between them. His way of suggesting that the male have a cup. "If I knew what you were researching, I might be able to direct you better... I have had control of this library for almost a thousand years, after all..." he offered then reconsidered it with a frown, "Maybe it's two thousand? I lost count, I guess..." he mumbled a bit there, not sure if he had the math right on that one... He lost track of time way too easily, so it was possible that it was longer... He finally shook his head and refocused on the present point, "I've got quite a few scrolls in the back that you haven't gone through. I also have access to Sebastet's private library..." he added, his tone conversational for the moment. He set his own notebook on the side table with the book he'd been referencing then took another sip from his coffee cup as he turned to look at the fire in the fireplace. That light gave his paler skin a glowy tone and glinted in his mismatched eyes. Another servant came in and looked at him, pulling his attention, "Lydia wanted to know if there was a response?" she asked him simply, not bothering to hide the fact that she was looking him over. Admittedly, he worth a look or six. But he never noticed it. He gave her a simple nod, "Tell her I'll be ready when I'm needed. I just have to get something from my rooms then I'll be able to leave. Just remind her that I work best alone. Anyone else would get in the way," he pointed out then turned back to the fire, effectively dismissing the woman. She actually looked disappointed as she nodded and left.

Falmon, looked at Cain a moment and considered what he had said before he finally spoke “well that’s a simple case, I’m researching those who had been here prior to the current occupants taking up residence here, I’ve been following their trail for forty years before the trail pointed to a castle on an island, there is a lot of information that indicates that there were a deeper reason that the world was destroyed as it was, and even more that there were some who’d been working on a fair few projects that were suddenly lost. I have reason to believe that the group who was here was working on one of those projects that likely directly impacted the world at large, the thing is a lot of the text was written in code to make it appear normal, I have had a cypher from locations on the mainland’s that has helped in reading it, the problem is just finding the correct books.” Falmon was surprisingly adamant about what he was doing, but his attention was slightly distracted by Cain’s appearance, but his interaction with the woman also left him wondering as to what was going on which if nothing else predictably left him asking questions “so uh, what’s going on?”

Cain gave a shrug of one shoulder, "Seems that we have some uninvited guests to the island that plan on some questionable activities. I've promised my assistance with it later," he explained about what was going on easily. Of course, he didn't give too many details... But he hadn't been given any, so he couldn't pass them on. Still, Sebastet had requested his aid, so he would give it without question. "As for the other... I can give you the account Sebastet gave of when she arrived. She did oust the former occupant. Anyone previous to that will take more investigation, I'm afraid," he added then got up to collect a hand-written book from the back of the library and passed it on, "As I understand it, she encountered a rogue vampire that was trying to set up a pirate empire while feeding on, and enslaving, the human populace. She took him out then spent a very long time cleaning the place up and restoring it. That was a very long time ago... About two thousand years or so, I think. We stop counting after a while, after all..." he gave the shortened version as he passed the book over then took his seat again. He looked into the fire in the fireplace and considered what he was going to be doing, then shoved it aside for now in favor of a more pleasant mental occupation. So he turned his harlequined eyes back to his guest, "I forget my manners, though... I'm Cain Albright," he introduced himself, hoping that he hadn't left that bit too late. He really didn't want another lecture from Lydia on manners...

"Mon Pounce, gang away frae there." called Cullen to the cat. The Cat ignored the calling boy and finished his inspection and then padded back to the boy's side his tail twitching back and forth with great pride. "...You're a wee scunner" glared the boy at the cat. the cat brushed itself around Cullens legs. "murr...now Cullen why are you in such a grumpy mood." asked the cat into the boy's mind, knowing full well the boy had been couped up in a ship for long days and longed to return to the castle he had stayed in and, to see his friends. the Cat smirked as only a cat could and licked his paw. "wanting to see your kitty"the cat snickered. "Haud yer wheesht!"scolded Cullen, as he glared and crossed his arms into a pout only a 10yearold with a hurt pride could accomplish. Cullen was tired and hungry. He was just so glad that he was off the boat and also close to the gate. His brother had been shopping in the town gathering some supplies and had told him to stick close. Cullen rejected this couping and sneaked off and made fast his escape to the castle ahead of his brother.
The boy grumped and plodded on closer to the castle's gate the black cat padding softly beside him. "Master Crisdean said hed gang ahea'd , bydand....hoping supper is soon." said the boy. Soon his soft booted steeps brought him to the gatehouse and its gate. He looked up at it, it had been long since he had seen the walls and gates of the castle, and yet it was like he had always seen them as large and overwhelming.
~ Cullen makes his way with Pounce from the Gatehouse and courtyard into and through the castle. His hunger getting the better of him he made his way into the kitchen. ~
The two peeked around the corner making sure the way was clear, Cullen was not inclined to meeting anyone not knowing if he'd get in trouble for coming into the castle without his older brother or his teacher's escort. But even with the stop and go he made a swift pace. He was fast down the hall. pounce continued his languid pace as any cat would and let the young boy scurry away. "Mon Pounce, yer aywis at the coo's tail." complained Cullen at the cat for the cat's slow and dragging walk. The Black cat stopped and glared. "you young people once you smelt the food are all in a hurry. If you wanted a creature who comes when you call and stays at your heels you should have found a dog." admonished the cat into Cullen's mind. The boy sighed and crossed his arms "aonan, dhà, tri, ceithir, còig, sia, seachd, ochd, naoi,...deich Cullen quietly counted to himself; his teacher often had him count when he was into much of a hurry. Cullen could smell the baking bread and other vittles cooking and his mouth watered but he kept his pace and with a final sigh finished the end of the count. Pounce sat on his boot waiting with a grin that only cats can produce. "better?" smirked the cat. "noo!" said Cullen wiped a bit of drool away with his sleeve he was tired of waiting and his cat's smirky attitude and the call of cooking food was strong. "The tatties and bread smell braw. mon pounce!" he said and made off for the kitchen door. He was very hungry and had not eaten in many hours so his enthusiasm may be forgiven. He entered the kitchen and made for a dark corner in the small dining part of it and looked around hoping to make off with some food to eat and then be on his way.
Having purloined a handful of biscuits and cheese he made off into a random hallway hoping to find the were halls and crisdeans room or to bump into a former face. It had been years since he had been in the castle losing his way was to be expected and treated as a small adventure. between himself and his cat, having found himself in the library he sat down in a chair and mused to himself. Pounce hopped up into another chair nearby and licked his paw of the cheese crumbles left over. Cullen was amazed at all the books in this room and he didn't recall ever being in this part of the castle when he was younger. he soon got curious and poked around the stacks and stacks of tomes and scrolls and books.

Falmon listened with great interest to what Cain was saying taking a mental note of everything and once he was done and introduced himself he suddenly felt embarrassed for not having done so sooner and replied “I’m Falmon… Falmon Thromwatch” he paused a moment before he continued “what you’ve said is interesting, I may not look it but I do have some skill in combat, though I would prefer not to have to get my hands dirty if I didn’t have to, perhaps I could assist in exchange for additional information about the vampire in question, maybe his past would lead to those who came before and bring answers to a question long overdue to be answered” Falmon paused instantly when he heard someone talking in the library and looked at Cain with some uncertainty as to who that might be “seems someone else is here” he stood up casually from the chair the glass in hand as he looked in the direction of the voice before he looked at Cain “a resident of the castle?” Falmon’s hand was loosely close to the hilt of his dagger, his sword cane was braced up against the end table but did not see any reason to grab it, yet.

Cain listened for a moment and identified the person by the footsteps. Strangely enough, he was able to identify most of the residents that way. There were a few that he had trouble with, but that was rare these days. He'd given Cullen some lessons when he was a boy in his letters, but he'd known Faolan better since one was older than the other. He waved Falmon back to his seat, "It's just Cullen and his cat. They were residents a while back. It'll be nice to have them all back. I just hope that Wind can handle the reunion without further trauma. Cullen will wander a bit, but Pounce will keep him from getting into trouble. The cat will remember my warning about dirty hands..." he commented simply, "Crisdean or Faolan will be along to find him soon enough. They all need to go see Wind soon, but really hope he can handle it..." he finished with that then changed the subject. "As for what you're looking for, I would need to know the name of the vampire at the very least to help you research them. For the activity later... I wouldn't pass up a little company that can keep me from a sunburn if I get forgetful about the time," he returned to the main subject, part of him wondering how much trauma the residents of the island could handle... So much had happened... So many lost... Even he had found love once then gotten left behind with a very badly written Dear John letter... For some, the loss was worse... For him... Well, in some ways he suffered with them...

Faolan made his way down the hall till he came to Crisdean's door he could hear the druid singing and he knocked. Crisdean opened the door for him and gestured his welcome. Faolan enters. "where is Cullen was he not with you?" asked Crisdean knowing the boy probably wandered off. "he is in the castle...someplace there is too much magick around for me to pin him down." fumed Faolan. "peace Faolan.. the magick is strong, yes and it can make seeking hard but not impossible. breath and focus." said the druid turning the conversation into a teaching moment as he stirred his tea. Faolan glared at the tea Crisdean had handed him. "as you say, master..." said Faolan. as he breathed and tried to focus his magic.
Crisdean sat before the fireplace waiting stirring his tea and petting the wings of his raven who had wandered over to nibble at the small bread crumbs left on the table. "I sense he is here and in a near room...I smell ink and parchment.."said Faolan with his eyes closed. "ink and parchment...well now it seems your brother has found his way to the library my guess or baset's study. let us pray it's the library. sabby would lose her mind if Cullen messed up her study....let us go" he said downing his tea and crumbling a seed cake for the raven.
[Crisdean and Faolan leave Crisdean's room and the were halls making for the library.]
after a short walk crisdean and Faolan enter the library. they begin to look through the stacks of scrolls and tomes for the wayward boy.

∙✩ ✧⁂※⊂яìşđεдп※⁂✧✩∙ I Wonder to the Music of the Night ⎰≪≪≪≪≪≪≪≪≪≪≪≪≫≫≫≫≫≫≫≫≫≫≫≫⎱ Crisdean and Faolan entered the library. Crisdean steeping to the side with his back to a wall as soon as he entered the room. "well Faolan, your brother is hidden amongst the tomes and scrolls of ages past. isn't that right wee Pounce" stated the druid followed by the question he directed at a black cat lounging on a nearby pile of books. The cat seemed to smirk and his tail lashed in a direction as if pointing. the Druid nodded and ushered forth Faolan to go into the maze of books. Faolan having never been to the library was quite overwhelmed by the ammas of books. he took a deep breath and could smell the scent that only old books and scrolls possessed. "this is quite a collection. I haven't seen such a mess of scrolls since I left the courts of the middle kingdom or other kingdoms far to the east." he said and steeped carefully around a pile of books. the vampire nodded "aye best is most please with their collection. so keep your fire in check..'' stated the druid and sat himself down into a well-stuffed chair. Followed by Pounce who jumped into his lap. The druid gestured to the room and raised an eyebrow. "well ...he is here find him..use only your talent." he said, as a blindfold appeared around Faolan's eyes. The young man looked dejected and Crisdean and the cat looked smug, as he attempted to make his way through the maze of books and to find his brother using only his talent for sight and guidance. Cullen tried to make himself scarce from the magicks seeking touch. he did how ever mutter darkly to himself and curse in his language that the cat was selling his position out. he scurried as quickly as he could pass the two people that had seen him and that he had greeted politely.
