Van was just about to go in for a mushy kiss to screw with Riley when he head some serious beating happening from somewhere. "Am I the only one hearing the ferocious screeches of two women in a bloody cat fight?" he pondered as he got up to peek out the window and see if it was nearby.

Mala looked kind of pissed once Van looked away, upset that some catfighting bimbos interrupted their kiss. She quickly got over it, however, and nodded. "Yes, I do, unfortunately enough."

"Oh wait, Ariae's living nearby now..." Van moaned when he came to the realization of who one of the combatants had to be. "I don't know who the other girl is, but I'd really rather not get involved." he decided, turning right back around to rejoin Mala.
"Uh, who's Ariae?" Riley asked in a confused fashion.

"An old b***h of a trollup." Mala huffed, crossing her arms and looking away afterwards.

"Riley, go be a man and get them to stop. I'm pretty sure my ex-girlfriend hates my guts." Van said pushing Riley to the door.
"Wait, your ex-girlfriend?! Why do I have to be the one to--" The door was shut behind him before he could finish. "a**." he muttered under his breath before going to investigate the cat fight.

Mala calmed that angry look of her's down slightly, happy that Van didn't leave to go stop the fighting himself.
As the man approached, Ariae was just getting ready to stomp that b***h's neck in.

"Ladies, I'm sure whatever's going on here is entirely unnecessary!" Riley said with a nervous smile as he slowly walked up to them.

"This woman tried to kill me. Why shouldn't I return the favor?" Ariae asked, an eyebrow raised.
"You cursed my daughter!" Marianne exclaimed, not at all reccognising Riley as her son.
"She brought it on herself, wretch." Ariae said, putting a little more pressure on Marianne's neck now. "One more word, and you'll have a broken neck."

Riley, also having managed to get his hands on the interdimensional magics, though not his own, pulled a spear (having upgraded in recent years) from his pocket, pointing the blade at Ariae's neck. "You need to back off, and you both need to explain." It was rather obvious by this point that talking calmly was going to get him nowhere fast.

Ariae laughed, and pushed the tip of the spear away with her finger before removing her foot from Marianne's neck only to place it on her back. "Boy, you must be daft if you think I'll let her go. Her body, don't you see? It's tense, full of hate. The moment I let her out of my clutches, she'll strike. They always do."

"Yeah, I'm not letting either one of you touch each other. Now why did you curse her daughter and how bad was it that you wanted to kill her?" Riley asked Ariae and Marianne respectively, not recognizing his mother.

"This woman poisoned her and refused to give her the cure unless she signed herself into slavery! If she doesn't obey, she'll die because of this paranoid b***h!" Marianne exclaimed, quite stubborn about getting the truth out.
Ariae rolled her eyes. "It was the only way to ensure my own safety. She wanted to work for me, so I granted her wish. The picky brat just wasn't happy with what work I gave her."

"Okay, you...." Riley started with Marianne, who actually had some relatively good reason for her actions. "....you're off the hook. Calling some sort of authorities would have been better, but considering the nearest head honcho is a sleazeball demon, I can't entirely blame you. As for you..." Now it was Ariae's turn. "An innocent girl wants a job and you're loony enough to think she's out to get you?! You are paranoid and in desperate need of some therapy. Lots, and lots, of therapy."

"I have my reasons, not that your templar-like way of thinking will understand." Ariae said, before offering up a cruel smirk. "You might not realise this, but the very same damsel she speaks of is also the daughter of said demon. For all you know, I could be some rutheless revolutionary seeking to end his reign. For all you know, this might be the only possible way to get him alone without getting his pesky guards involved. Perhaps this could all be some elaborate scheme, and your foolish behavior could be ruining any chance of those poor people ever being free and with women among them." she then pointed out, just to screw with Riley's head. This was certainly not true, but he didn't know that now did he?

"Why is it that only the women I'm related to by blood are the sane ones? Honestly, when have the words 'for all you know' ever been convincing?" Riley said, really starting to hate Van for making him do this now. "I'm standing by my previous statement. You're a paranoid loon in need of therapy." he told her before looking to Marianne. "A friend of mine is pretty talented in white magic, he might be able to do something about the curse." he offered.
((There is so much 'he knows not what he does/says' going on in there, it's hilarious. Related by blood, you say? Bringing Marianne home, you say? =D Ah, poor, naive Riley. XD ))
