Round 2 - Day 1 - Roll 3: General Grid
Blue Strigonth: 9/12 hp
Held saves: 0

Quote:
2. Your dragon swoops down to flame a writhing silvery Thread, but your riding straps are just a little bit loose. The sudden fear of feeling yourself lift just a bit higher in the straps than you like is terrifying as you fear you might slide off. Furthermore, when your dragon swoops back up to return to formation, you're forcefully returned to your seat! You're able to tighten the leg strap with shaky hands, and were never at risk of actually falling off, but it's not an experience you want to feel again. Your tailbone is going to object for a few days. -1 HP Rider Damage.

The sharding straps were going to be the death of them, D'mar reflected with a grimace after Strigonth had stooped to sear yet another strand of thread and nearly tossed him from his seat. Perhaps he'd put on more muscle weight than he'd expected, or perhaps he'd been cheated on the quality of the leathers. Whatever the cause, this time it'd be more of a sudden jerk to the side that'd hurt him, the straps loose enough to yank suddenly, not hold him snug, and this time he'd triple checked the tie before getting back to feeding his dragon firestone.

Round 2 - day 1 - roll 1 - General
Blue Micheth
Hp: 6/12
Saves: 1

One of Micheth’s siblings were in trouble, Jailla noticed, and directed her blue’s attention to them. Beware Aleyath! There’s Thread just ahead of you! he warned. Hopefully his sibling would be able to avoid the danger they were in. He didn’t want. Aleyath getting hurt.

(If anyone needs saving, Micheth’s got your back. : ) )

Round 2 - day 1 - roll 2 - General
Blue Micheth
Hp: 6/12
Saves: 0, saved Aleyath and Brancath!

“Careful, Brancath!” Micheth bugled to warm the white dragon. He was trying—and maybe failing to stay calm. He couldn’t keep an eye on all of his siblings at once.

Day 1 / Round 2 / Roll 2: General Grid
Brown Aleyath: 11/14 HP
Held saves: 0

When they appeared again they did so impressively close to formation, but neither Aleyath nor O'len had the chance to feel proud of themselves before a nasty clump of Thread passed dangerously close. The brown let out a honk of alarm as he tried to swerve away. One scoring was enough for one day, thank you very much.

    1. You appear from Between..... directly into a clump of Thread. It sears through your dragons wingsails, and you can feel it tangling up on your leg! The wherhide fabric doesn't seem to offer any protection at all, shaffit all! You finally remember to visualize and go Between, but you're certainly hurting. -5 HP Threadscore.

White Brancath: 7/8 HP
Held saves: 0

5. It's a classic textbook maneuver. An ugly strand of Thread is falling down, drifting, blowing, squirming on the wind. If it stays course it will put it right in your airspace. Your dragon shifts position, veers, and manages to catch the tangle with a belch of flame. Nothing to this Thread thing, nope!

Now this was incredible. She and Brancath moving and thinking in fluid tandem, comfortable in the air. White she may be, but the female had something to prove, that she could be just as good, if not better, than others...by doing their job thoroughly.

3. Your dragon spots a silver strand of Thread. You visualize the space you need to go to flame it, but don't take into account the wind, or your dragon's flight speed. Instead, you appear Between but have completely overshot your airspace and are now out in the open, exposed, and with no Thread anywhere near you. Shaffit all! Don't you look the fool. Whoops.

A thread past their position caught Isilje's eye, Brancath bugling. The two popped Between, and were quick to shoot out...only Isilje had forgotten that Brancath could be terribly fast, and had managed to shoot them PAST where the Threadfall was, in to open air. Swearing under her breath, she directed her beloved to head back to the Wing, trying not to flush in her embarrassment. Honestly, her skin was staying to hurt....She'd been tired...So many excuses, but it wasn't important.

The pair had flicked Between, going for a huge clump of thread, but just before she could barrel in to it, Brancath heard one of her siblings calling out to her, almost flipping over herself and diving quickly to avoid the huge clump, saving herself, though Isilje was minorly singed on the leg. Another flick between, and they were safe, Thank you, Micheth

When Hessianth was chosen to relieve Strigonth, Vedmath was deeply pleased for him, although as they were mid-fight, he chose not to say anything, even if something so minor as that was unlikely to be a real distraction to the brown. The bronze and His certainly wouldn't have minded being chosen for such a responsibility - they were certainly suited to it! - but Dezerac was always very careful about seeming too eager, a decision that Vedmath of course supported. They were strong, capable, and intelligent, and would let their actions speak for them, avoiding any appearance of a lust for power. Their turn would come to them in time, and it would be well-earned.

They'd earn it by fighting...and bleeding. When the pair winked back from a hop between, they did so right into a blown clump of Thread. Vedmath cried out as it burned into his wings, into his rider's leg, before Dezerac got hold of both of them and they disappeared to rid themselves of the mess.

When they reappeared, they were both a little worse for wear, but this was their blooding.

Vennodren's hands slipped off of the leather straps of Nzambith's harness, his palms so sweaty with nerves it was almost impossible to hang on to anything. He'd have gloves on once they were up in the air but for now he was trying to keep them as dry inside as possible. Wiping his hands on his pants he went back to tugging on the straps, ensuring that they were tight and ready to go.

Nzam, on her part, stood chewing some treats placidly as ever, Venn's worry bouncing off her own apathetic thoughts effortlessly. Now that she was older - fully grown but still with a little mental growing to do - her rather gloomy thoughts and personality were more pronounced, Venn's excitement and happiness not as easy to influence her. At times like this it was a blessing as a nervous rider and a nervous dragon would surely spell disaster in the air. Venn was glad his own anxiety wasn't being amplified by Nzam and he gave her sickly green hide a fond pat of thanks as he took a deep breath.

"How's that treating you, dear?" he asked with a little smile, only slightly forced. Nzam swallowed her mouthful and instead of replying verbally she simply opened her maw, silently asking for more.

"Don't eat too much now. You'll be heavy up in the air," Venn chided even as he passed her one more treat. She huffed softly but accepted the gift happily, chewing on the dried meat slowly. It wasn't her favorite thing to eat but the way the meat was salted spoke to her taste buds perfectly. As she ate another wave of fear rolled over her, but this time it wasn't from Venn. Instead it was from her brother that stood in the Bowl not far from her and she watched Loreleth as he was comforted by his rider.

Giving a gentle bugle, she sent her brother 'comforting' thoughts. The sensations were indeed soothing but her words...well. To her they were words of support. To others...perhaps not.

Death isn't something to fear, Loreleth. It's just a long sleep. No pain, no hunger, no suffering. She gave a wistful sigh before glancing back at Venn who had returned to checking their gear almost obsessively. She would be sad if Venn did die, but she would join him quickly and all would be well. If he hadn't been on the sands when she had hatched she would have been content to sleep on the warm surface forever, which is what she imaged death to be like. A nice, cozy sleep for ever and ever.

Vennmine is scared too, though, she added, observing her rider for a few more moments before turning her calm, green gaze back to Loreleth. So you are not alone in worrying. But you will do better if you calm yourself. Now she was just reciting back what had been said in classes and by Venn himself who had been talking up their first real flight to comfort himself, but it seemed like sound advice. It was part of the reason she was pushing her own apathy towards the possible outcomes of the flight on Venn in an attempt to calm him.

After being scored, they were that much more eager to get back to the work of flaming down Thread, but a particularly sharp turn to do just that - which likely looked quite impressive - made it rather obvious that that troublesome leg strap still wasn't quite right. The ache in Dezerac's tailbone was nothing compared to his frustration with himself as he tightened the strap again.

Mr Cheri

Of all his clutchmates, Vedmath trusted Illiandinth the least...though only a very select few would know it, since outwardly he was nothing but friendly, even admiring of the other bronze.  So when his brother swooped in just in time to save him from another scoring, he was effusive in his gratitude; he hadn't been any less grateful to Micheth and Brancath, and he would repeat his thanks to them when all this was done, but in the moment, Illiandinth merited a certain amount of ego-stroking.  Vedmath bugled appreciatively, waves of warm praise rolling off of him. How fortunate I am to have you watching my back, and how well such gallantry suits you.  I am in your debt, brother.

A phrase he did not use lightly with his fellow bronze.

Fortunately, it seemed the natural instinct of a group that, despite some fuss here and there, had grown together was to keep an eye out for each other as well, and most crisis was being caught before it could get too bad.

Hessianth continued to flame any patch of thread that came his way, and L'nik couldn't help but be proud of his best boy, offering a gentle rub on one of the brown's shoulders. Good job, Hess. Let's keep going strong, okay?

Quote:
Things seem relatively quiet. You do as you're told and follow the direction of your superiors. Not bad. But not a whole lot happens, either. Is this what being a leader's all about? Simply waiting...?

What do we do? Hessianth's impatience leaked into his rider as L'nik surveyed how the group was holding up. It seemed everybody was still in the air, at least, and while a few likely should have taken it upon themselves to land, he wasn't going to pretend he had the authority to push it on them.

Keep Liat, Orioth, J'cheyn and Savaceth updated on everybody's condition and stay alert.

But that itch was begging to be scratched.

Brown Aleyath: 10/14 HP
Held saves: 0

With a grateful thought for his blue brother, Aleyath corrected his course and sped toward his siblings. There was a brief moment when he felt O'len's alarm as their straps proved a bit loose, but he didn't panic for long. While this Threadfall might have been a mix of chaos and order on the dragon's end, his rider had been rather emotionally even until now.

    O'len?

    I'm all right.
