Why did Jay feel like his options were getting smaller? Quena seemed to be fast asleep, two of his pokemon had status conditions, Mime Jr... well... he wanted her to evolve, but he wasn't sure he wanted that to happen here, and now, with these people. Just in case.... So he was trying to limit her battle experience. He didn't want Mary Lee getting too strong, either, considering she was probably already his strongest pokemon, and he wasn't anywhere close to getting a fourth badge. And Zoey... Well, Zoey didn't fight. He frowned a bit at the realization that he'd had her in his active party this entire time, with absolutely no intention to ever let her enter battle. She didn't want to, either, he was positive, but... Would it be better to just move her to his inactive party...? He brushed off the thought for now, and after some confirmation from Gamma, let the steel-fairy pokemon maintain his hold on the battle. Hopefully that paralysis wouldn't be too bad...

Gamma had to be getting tired, but before Jay could ask, he shifted into a ready position as the next pokemon was sent out. Just as his trainer spoke, Gamma rushed forward, ending the battle, and then promptly falling back, breathing heavily, twitching as the electricity jolted his body again. Jay frowned. "Good job, Gamma. Ya pulled through," he remarked, returning the pokemon as Gamma gave a soft sigh. "Ah think mah pokemon need uh rest," he admitted to the group, "But it's been uh pleasure." He bid farewell to the group, half forgetting their names after they'd introduced themselves earlier, but at least recalling the first girl's name had been Bonny. After farewells, he immediately headed straight for the pokecenter, intent on getting his pokemon healed, but Mime Jr suddenly stopped him.

"Wait, Jay!" she called out, excitedly, "I'm evolving!" He stopped, frowning, listening as she evolved, then gave a happy cry. Her voice was different. "I evolved! I evolved! I have to go see!" He turned his head, but she had darted past him in a second. He couldn't even try and get an impression of what her new form was. He heard a sigh beside him. 'I don't think this is going to go well for Mimey...' Ralts telepathically murmured. Jay sighed, running a hand back through his hair as he pulled his hat off, then placed it back on. "We'll see," he replied simply, and started off back towards the pokecenter.

The scenery for the route between Cyllage City and Geosenge Town was quite a nice change of pace. It went from rocks and cliffs to grassy plains and … well. Apparently more rocks. But less haphazard to his survival and maneuvering skills.
Actually, they seemed a bit odd, now that Sebastian thought about it. He hadn’t had a chance to look into Geosenge Town and its history but this seemed like a good time as any to do a little exploring. Plus, he wanted to get some training in so why not? With that in mind he deviated from the path and towards the grassy areas, pausing to inspect one of the stone markers peppering the landscape.
As Sebastian did that, an interesting character emerged from another nearby rock, eyeing the group. Whether it was angry or curious, no one could tell; the Snubbull’s face in a permanent state of glaring. Catching a glimpse of the pokemon, Blackjack lowered himself to the ground, grunting and shaking a little to get Dice off his back. The little pokemon squeaked, giving the Houndoom a curious look. Blackjack gave a little gruff grunt, gesturing the Cubone towards the intruding pokemon as if to say he should fight it. Dice blinked, giving a shy nod before toddling over towards the weird looking dog thing, club dragging right alongside him.

Jay made his way to the pokecenter with Ralts, entering in. Just as he started walking towards the counter, though, a familiar voice rose up in a wail from nearby. "MiiiiIIIIiiIIIiiIIIIiiImmeee!!!" Jay stopped, frowning and turning towards the noise. Well... seemed Mimey had found a mirror... and wasn't happy with the results. He sighed and started walking in that direction, but Ralts quickly shuffled over and tugged at his pants. 'Wait Jay,' he quickly warned. "Why?"'That's the women's restroom...' Jay stopped, then brought a hand up, sighing and pressing his fingers to his temple. "Dammit Mahmy..." he muttered.
Groaning, he reached up, prodding Quena awake. "Quena, we needjer help," he coaxed, jerking his hand back as angry static met his waking call. He reached in, outright pulling her out of his pocket and lifting her up. "Look, Mahmy's gone into thuh women's restroom 'n's sorta freakin' out. Ah needja to go get 'er," he insisted. The mouse narrowed her eyes, staring back at him a moment. A few more little sparks zapped the air near her, but then she turned, leaping down, hitting the floor, and darting over to the bathroom to slip her way in. Jay folded his arms over his chest as he waited, blinking and frowning as he heard, and felt, an electric shock from the bathroom.
".... Oh Arceus dammit..." he muttered, now rubbing his temples. Quena reappeared a moment later, whiskers twitching. She gave a shake of her head, then scurried over, aiming to climb up Jay's pants leg to trek up to his pocket. He shook his foot to get her off, though, holding her at bay. She stared up with an indignant look, which he either ignored, or really wasn't aware of. "Machoke... Y'mind...?" he asked, eyes closed. "Choke, machoke," she replied, giving a nod and hitting her fist into her hand again. Ralts translated -- 'Yeah, I got it.'

When the door opened to let Machoke in, wailing sobs could be heard. Ralts deflated a bit and Jay continued rubbing his temple. Quena was beginning to chatter angrily, electricity coming off in all directions, and Jay swiftly returned her. He didn't have time to deal with her tantrum and he didn't appreciate her... lackluster attempt to bring Mimey out. A few minutes passed and the crying in the bathroom turned to louder wailing, then screaming. Machoke emerged a little later with Mimey under her arm, thrashing and desperately trying to get free. There was obviously no reconciling her in this state-- Jay didn't have to see it, he could hear her distress and sighed, returning her. "Thank ya, Machoke," he remarked tiredly. The fighting pokemon nodded. "Choke, ma." She made her way over to stand beside Jay as he tried to decide what to do. Ultimately, he set that decision aside to heal his pokemon. There was no way he was taking Mimey out of her pokeball where she could run back into the bathroom.
Once everyone was healed, and he and everyone else had eaten, they headed outside. Jay tried to let her out, Machoke standing at the ready to pounce if she attempted an escape-- but the red light zig zagged its way to the ground, and then immediately retreated back into its ball, instead of forming the pokemon like normal. With Zoey squeaking on his shoulder-- and suddenly stopping in surprise, before realizing she needed to resume for him to know what was going on-- Jay didn't miss this. He frowned, lowering his hand. 'Maybe we should... go somewhere more secluded, Jay...' Ralts murmured, 'I think there's a cave nearby...' Jay sighed again, shaking his head adn tucking the pokeball away. If that was their only option... then alright.

The Snubbull sulked away whimpering, clearly not expecting to have its face nearly smashed in by an iron-headed skull bash. Dice of course just watched the pokemon wobble off, giving little cheers of victory which for the most part, went unnoticed by his trainer, who still seem focused on the strange rocks littering the landscape.
As the Cubone turned to see what was going on, his little nose crinkled in disgust. What in the world was that smell? He wandered away a little, following the terrible odor until he stumbled upon what looked to be a large single stripped cat. ”Cubone?” He squeaked in question, eyeing the strange pokemon as it turned, giving him the stink eye. Dice didn’t appreciate the look and with club in hand, put all his strength into lifting it before slamming the heavy thing down on the wild pokemon’s face.

The Stunky wobbled off, dazed and confused and probably concussed. Cubone just watched it wobble away, eyes blinking as a strange presence suddenly floating behind him. He turned, staring up at the Sigilyph that hovered just above his head.
Dice was just about ready to try and pick up his club to swing when Spade appeared from nowhere between him and the wild pokemon. The Cubone was startle, falling back on his bottom and watching the Mightyena in surprise. He glanced back towards Blackjack, who was watching but hadn’t moved an inch from the place he’d say down, Sebastian having moved over to inspect a different rock. He really wasn’t paying much attention, was he? What was so interesting about the rocks anyways?
Spade apparently recognized the issue though; opting to take on the Sigilyph himself rather than let the poor little Cubone struggle.

The Sigilyph didn’t stick around to get itself properly beat, instead unleashing a fierce wave of wind to hinder Spade in his tracks, the poor dog pokemon doing all he could to not go flying into something, while it turned and fled back into the grass. The damn bloody coward. Spade twitched in agitation, looking back at Dice and giving a little grunt. The Cubone had watched with unnecessary awe as the Mightyena fought, his attention quickly broken at the sound of shuffling behind the two.
Yet another one of those Stunky’s had appeared; maybe a friend of the first ones? Without paused, Dice squeaked at Spade, raising his bone club and striking this Stunky in the face as well.

The Stunky once again wobbled away back into the grass, blurry eyed and probably on the verge of a concussion. Dice watched it as it left, Spade’s gaze following before he started making his way back over to their trainer. He was very much curious why the man was more interested in these stupid rocks than keeping track of his pokemon.
Dice made to follow, eyes blinking as an even larger sound of movement came from behind him. He turned and if it could’ve been seen under the helmet, furrowed his brow. Suddenly another Stunky appeared… and then another… and another… until at least five of the rotten things were surrounding the poor little Cubone, stink eyed gazes on full blasted. Hobbling in the background were the Stunky from before. Apparently, they had fetched their clan and were looking for some payback.
Blackjack looked up to catch the sight of the horde, eyes narrowing as he quickly turned his gaze to his trainer and gave a sharp bark. Sebastian blinked, looking up and over, pupils dilating just a bit at the sight of the horde. What in the world had been going on while he wasn’t looking? Immediately he scrambled to his feet, jumping towards Dice as one of the Stunky immediately went for the Cubone. This…was not going to end well.

While not a complete disaster, the horde battle had left a sour taste in Sebastian’s mouth. And no, it had nothing to do with the less than pleasant smells radiating off the Stunky horde. Once Shuffle had smashed the last of the little buggers, they all went squealing back into the grass. Sebastian gave a huff. "Good job, Shuffle. Take a rest." He remarked, the little bird giving a less than enthused chirp as she was returned to her ball. Even she could tell he was rather displeased about how the battle had gone. With a frown, he pulled out Dice’s pokeball and summoned him out to check on him. The little guy had fought pretty damn hard, but all that screeching had been enough to rattle his nerve and lower his defenses. It was the first time Sebastian hadn’t actually dealt with a pokemon of his fainting and while it was something he was prepared for, it still sucked all the same.
"You okay, Dice?" He asked softly, the Cubone shaking his head to slowly come around. Once he was focused, the Cubone squeaked, immediately looking around for the Stunkys. Where had they gone? "They’re gone buddy." Sebastian remarked, figuring out what his pokemon was looking for. Dice seemed to fume a bit, giving a little “Cu!” of agitation before weakly attempting to slam his club on the ground. How dare they knock him out! The bullies he’d show them-
"Hey, hey, hey. It’s okay. You beat’em up good." Sebastian gently grabbed ahold of the Cubone’s club to stop his tantrum, the little thing giving a little squeak and looking up at his trainer dowerly. Sebastian just smiled, patting him gently on the head before picking him up.
"Let’s get you to the pokemon center, okay? That way you can be healed up and beat up more of those purple things." Sebastian hadn’t had a chance to pull out his pokedex to check what the blasted thing were, but he figured he see more of them while he searched.
With Spade and Blackjack in tow, he returned to the paths. It took a bit but eventually they reached the town and immediately he went for the pokemon center, handing off Dice and Shuffle to be healed. He thanked Nurse Joy as she returned them in fighting condition, Dice squealing a bit in joy as he was picked up and carried out, club clutched tightly in his little paws. He was ready to smash more heads.

Once they were heading back out to the path, Sebastian set Dice back on Blackjack’s back. The Houndoom didn’t seem to mind giving the little thing a ride and their trainer needed to check on something. He produced another Heart Scale, eyeing it a moment before pulling out his pokedex.
He started browsing through his pokemon, face contorting between looks of uncertainty and concetration. He really needed something for those hordes but would be best. Actually… thinking about it, Shuffle could’ve used another move or two. Dice could certainly hold his own one on one, but she was the weakest and if she ever found herself against a horde of pokemon, she’d probably be mincemeat. Maybe the scale could help her?
"Hold on a moment, guys. I need to try something." He told the little group, the three pokemon pausing to look back at him. Sebastian retrieved Shuffle’s pokeball, letting her out. She shook her head, wings flapping with the jubilance she was known to have, chirping and turning to look at her trainer curiously.
"Here Shy, I want to use this on you. See if it helps, okay?" Sebastian told the little Fletching. She tilted her head curiously at the shiny rainbow scale, wings flapping happily as she seemed to agree. Sebastian nodded, eyeing the scale a moment before gently tapping it against her head. He still didn’t know how they were supposed to be used, but the method had work for Dice so maybe it was the same here. Just like before the scale sort of combusted, shimmering down on Shuffle as she flapped her wings happily. Suddenly she was up in the air and without provocation she spat a massive amount of fire out of her tiny beak.
Sebastian blinked, pulling out his pokedex and checking the Fletchling’s move set. Heat Wave…? It seemed a bit off to be honest; Shuffle was a normal-flying type… not fire. Not that her learning elemental moves was surprising but… something about fire and flying just didn’t seem to mix in his mind. Ah well, hopefully it would give her an edge in any horde battles.
"Do you want to stay out for a bit, Shy?" He asked curiously. She hadn’t had much out time after all. The little Fletchling chirped happily, quickly flapping herself up and nesting right on top of Sebastian’s head. Well then that was settled; it didn’t even occur to Sebastian at the moment that the bird was now spewing fire and letting her sit on his head wasn’t the best idea. But she was happy and well… he was happy.
"Alright let’s get going then." And with that, the little crew headed right back for the grass areas to begin the search again.

It didn’t take long before yet another of those purple, single striped skunk pokemon appeared at the group. Sebastian pulled his pokedex out to get a reading, managing to learn that the pokemon was a Stunky before Cubone gave a roar and flung himself at the pokemon, immediately slamming his club in its face without missing a beat.
Apparently, he wasn’t about to let them get away for their little stunt from earlier, part of the clam responsible or not.

Again the Stunky wobbled back into the grass after its harsh defeat at the blunt end of Dice’s bone club. Sebastian was hoping this would be the last of them; was there no other pokemon around here or something? Was it Stunky’s migration season? Either way, the purple skunk’s were wearing on his nerves.
Suddenly the sound of movement from one of the bushes nearby caught his attention. He was ready to swear if it was another Stunky, but instead the face of a new pokemon appeared. With wide little yes it eyed trainer and pokemon. ”Emolga!” It called, flying out of the bush. Sebastian raised his pokedex. An Emolga, hm? That might be worth catching, especially being a combo of both flying and electric. That was pretty unique actually. Dice was rearing to go, glancing at Sebastian for confirmation, noting the nod he received in response.

Sebastian picked up the pokeball, holding his pokedex over it and pushing a few buttons. He watched as the ball glowed and then disappeared away to the pc storage. He’d check out Emolga alter, but for now, it didn’t really have a place on his team. At some point actually, he’d have to reconsider his roster a bit and figure out what he was missing type wise. It was better to be well rounded after all.
As he considered what to do, Dice noticed a little bit of movement from nearby bushes. He blinked, a little paw clasping onto Sebastian’s pant leg, tugging it lightly to get his attention. Sebastian blinked, glancing down at the Cubone before following his gaze, Fletchling chirping excitedly while Spade and Blackjack looked as well.
Out of the bush popped a little brown face, two long rabbit-like ears twitching as it stared down the group. Sebastian’s heart nearly leapt out of his throat. An Eevee. Exactly what he’d been looking for. Dice gave a little roar of change, immediately attempting to raise his club and toddle at the pokemon to knock it’s block off. Sebastian quickly grabbed the top of the club to stop the pokemon though. He wanted to try to catch it without knocking it senseless.
"Me first." He remarked as Dice gave a squeal of disapproval. The young man pulled out one of the Quick Ball’s he’d purchased, immediately chucking it towards the Eevee.
The expression on the wild pokemon’s face contorted and for a brief moment Sebastian could’ve sworn it was thinking “Are you kidding me?” before it swiftly head-butted the oncoming pokeball, slamming it right onto the ground and shattering it. Oh… well okay this wasn’t going to be easy. With a sigh, Sebastian released his hold on Dice’s club.
"Go easy, Dic-" He started, the little pokemon ignoring and instead straight up charging the Eevee.
