So Shalour City’s gym leader specialized in fighting types. A little research into it and Sebastian had the most effective types to use if he wanted to go that route. He could use psychics, which weren’t really an option, -he didn’t have any of those as far as he knew-, or flying, which was a little more viable with Shuffle on his team.
Or he could use Fairy, the one typing he had little understanding of. Maybe that would be worth doing? He wasn’t going to learn how they worked otherwise if he didn’t make use of them. But the only Fairy he had was Gin… he wasn’t sure she was strong enough. He really needed to evaluate his pokemon’s moves now that he considered it…

Sebastian fished his pokedex out of his bag to start going over his teams’ moves, though a little squeaky roar and a glow of light stopped him briefly. With an eyebrow quirked he perked up and looked at his team to see amongst them the standard glowing light of an evolution. Now who was evolving? He guess it made sense from all that battling with those ghosts…
The light faded and where his Quilava had once been squeaking away was a new pokemon, much taller and with a neck of spikey flames as opposed to the standard mohawk and tail that he’d had in his previous form. Sebastian grinned, shuffling over and checking Naps’ new form in his pokedex.
"A Typhlosion? That’s amazing Naps!" He praised the pokemon, watching as the creature gave himself a look over to judge his new appearance. It was certainly a surprise for them both; he’d grown stronger but neither were aware it was that strong. With a gleeful look the newly evolved Typhlosion threw his arms out to the side and cheered.
… With the same squeaky little roar he’d had the entire time Sebastian had had him. The man couldn’t help the look of disbelief that crossed his face. "Oh Naps…" There wasn’t even the slightest hint of a change in tone, just a different name being said. Apparently a change in size and form meant absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. "I guess the boys don’t quite fall the same for pokemon…" Sebastian murmured, looking at Naps. The Typhlosion was grinning ear to ear though, clearly pleased with his final form. He still had a bit of a baby-ish face much like when he was a Quilava, Sebastian noted. Ah well, it was fine.
"Well I’m glad you evolved, you look awesome. Let’s see what you can do." He remarked as he gave the pokemon a gentle rub on the head, directing his pokedex at him. He scrolled through the list of Naps attacks, blinking and staring at the sight of Extrasensory. "When… did you learn a psychic move?" Naps just gave a squeak roar in response. Well then that just showed what Sebastian knew.

Of course, the wave went unnoticed by Jay, but he might not have been able to return it even if he'd been aware. He was preoccupied with finishing his meal so that he could head back and check in with Nurse Joy. He took a few more bites, then pushed his plate forward, standing and picking it up. He clicked his tongue, eyes closed as he stood tiredly, listening to the echoes, and then striding over to set his plate on one of the stations, sweeping the fork over it quickly to dispose of any extra food before putting it on the pile.
With that done he headed up front, Koda ghosting along behind him, a flurry of snow, then a panting little cub, then a small blizzard once more. Scy looked down at the ice pokemon as they made their way, and stood off to the side witih him while Jay talked with the nurse.

As it turned out, Jay did have some residual damage from... everything. "Yer shur?" Sitting on one of the beds in the examination room, Jay felt slightly uncomfortable. Nurse Joy had noticed Koda's discomfort with the temperature and he'd returned him, and even though Scy was there, it was... Scy. But, still.... "Didn't you say your upper back was part of what got hurt, too?" she pointed out. "Er, yeah....""Then it will be much easier to look at it if you take your shirt off. There's no reason to be embarrassed, sir." He sighed against her curious but polite tone, then relented, unbuttoning his shirt and letting it fall around his waste so she could check the large bruise across his upper back and over his shoulder.
"It looks like some of your lower back got hit, too..." she mused, "But it's not nearly as serious. These splinters will need to be removed from your arm, though, but there doesn't seem to be much damage. I'll just bandage it up, along with your finger, and you can probably remove them once you wake up. Just so the wounds have a chance to recover a bit." He gave a nod. "Alrigh'... Thanks," he murmured, eyes barely open. He hated going to the doctor, and if anything, this was worse, but at least there was nothing serious. He could get to sleep soon, probably. There was just... something else he had to take care of, first.

With Scy helping to lead the way, Jay made his way up to one of the rooms. He took a shower to wash off and changed his clothes. He set his stuff down and sat on the edge of one of the beds, his hair pushed back and still wet, but there was something he needed to do before he could lay down. He released Mimey, who looked uncomfortable as always, her arms hugging herself and her knees bent in, an expression of distress on her face. 'Jay--' she started telepathically, but he cut her off, holding up a stone with a tired smile. "Hush Mimey, 'n take this," he urged. The pokemon blinked, slowly, slowly letting go of her self conscious hug, and reaching out for the stone. Her eyes widened, though, and a smile crossed her face as a light began to engulf her.
Of course, Jay was unaware of the spectacle, but he knew what was happening, so while she squealed ecstatically, he pushed himself back and shifted to swing his legs up onto the bed and adjust himself, leaning back on one hand to prop himself up. "I'm ME!!!" Mimey cried out, twirling around, now no taller than the bed, but filled with so much joy she felt as though she could leap through the ceiling. "Congrats, Mahmy," Jay piped in, smiling lightly. She sprung up, latching herself onto his neck, nuzzling up against his face and coaxing a tired laugh out of her trainer. 'Thank you Jay!' she cried happily, humming out loud, "Thank you thank you THANK you!" He gave another light chuckle, lifting a hand to gently rest against her and return the gesture.
"Ain't nothin' ya gotta thank me fer, really. Shoulda got it sooner, but--""Jay! You got me an awesome moveset AND I get to be ME! THANK you!" she insisted. He shook his head a little, and she pried herself away, hopping down to give him his space back. "Well, ahm glad yer--" He cut off, stifling a yawn, then shaking his head again, this time to try and push through the fatigue. "Ahm glad yer happy. Feel free ta... ta put them moves ta use while ahm out. Ahm puttin' yew 'n.... 'N Scy in charge. Y'all should be able to handle the pok'mon alright," he continued, scratching his fingers back through his hair, and finally dropping back down, his eyes long since closed. "Y'all jus'.... lemme know if.... if'n....." His breathing lapsed into a slow, drowsy pace as he trailed off, and Mime Jr smiled softly.
She looked up at her trainer a moment, then sprung around, looking at Scy with her arms on her hips. "Alright, Scy! Let's see who's interested in gettin' some training done!" she declared.

There was at least one obvious candidate for 'who wanted to train', and indeed, as soon as Jade was let out and asked (admittedly by a wary Mimey), she immediately demanded to be brought along. The psychic-fairy pokemon rolled her eyes a bit, but moved on; Koda had to concede that it was just too hot, and mopingly returned to his pokeball. Quena was substantially uninterested, but Tod was ready to get back into action, having been sitting out for a while now. Jesse needed it, whether she wanted it or not, so Mimey grabbed her pokeball to bring along. Golett seemed to still be recovering, so MimeJr considered asking Heracross if he wanted to join. Before she could let him out, though, Jade suddenly stepped into view, blocking her path with a stern expression.
"She hasn't been let out yet," she stated flatly, an accusatory stare directed briefly at Jay, and then straight at Mimey. The little psychic pokemon blinked, her hands by her side with one gripping the large pokeball of her teammate. ".... Who?" she asked, then looked down at the pokeball. Jesse? "Not her," Jade irritably interrupted before she could ask, "Gail. She needs training." Mime Jr blinked, then tilted her head to the side with a frown. "Gail? But, who's--""My friend. The other eevee," Jade interrupted yet again, and Mimey huffed. She looked over at Jay's bag, though. That was right... and true. Jay had caught three eevees, and he had brought two out of the PC. And by chance, Jade had been the one he released.
She rubbed her jaw thoughtfully, then shrugged. At Jade's words, there was a nearly tangible shift in the atmosphere. Mimey stilled in reorganizing Jay's belongings, her back to the pokemon. Scy suddenly appeared beside Jade, who had been staring at Mimey, and now shifted a dull gaze up to him. Her eyes narrowed as she noticed the stare he was giving her-- more expressive than she'd seen before, eyes wide, but pupils constricted, an aura of ambiguous danger radiating from him. She climbed to her feet and turned to face him, looking ready for a fight, and he turned towards her. Rather than raising his claws and lowering his stance to prepare for battle, however, he simply stared.
And then, with ease and detachment, turned, stepping over to help Mime Jr continue putting things away. Neither of them said a word, and neither glanced back. Once everything was put back, Mimey grabbed Gail's pokeball and released her, smiling a friendly smile at the eevee. "Hi Gail! I'm Mimey! Jade said you might want to join for some training," she greeted and explained, giving a very dismissive, off hand gesture to the Meleeon as she referenced her. The eevee seemed to raise, as if about to float from the ground, and looked over at her evolved friend. "Jade? Jade! You evolved! Wow! Wow! That's awesome!" she exclaimed, bounding over. Mimey winced and glanced back over at Jay, but he was still sound asleep. She turned worriedly back to the eevees.
"You look so cool, Jade!" Gail continued to gush, but then turned towards Mimey, her little fluffy tail wagging excitedly behind her, "Yes! Please! I'd like to come train!" she added. Well... at least she wasn't like Jade....

Gently hushing Gail up, Mimey ushered everyone out, grabbing Tod and releasing him from his pokeball so he could officially join, too. She hung back a moment, looking through the backpack, and then grabbing something, and releasing Ralts to grab his hand and drag him along as well. "What's that, Mimey?" Tod asked once she had joined, eying the item in her hand with suspicion. "It's an exp share!" she explained, turning and shoving it onto her friends head. "Wha..." Ralts, frowned, tilting his head as if to try and look up at the object. "Do you have permission to use that...." Tod muttered, frowning in disapproval.
"Sort of! Jay did say I was in charge," the psychic-fairy pokemon replied, moving to waddle her way towards the front of the line, "And I'll replace it, don't worry!" she added, making way for the pokecenter exit.

Little hands rubbing together eagerly, Mimey lead the way out of the pokecenter, looking around for signs of a trainer. It was time to battle! Luckily, this was a city with a gym, so finding one wasn't too difficult! She spotted a couple of girls, each with pokeballs at their waste and travel bags on their backs, and ran over, little arms out to the side. "Hi!" she greeted them, and both jumped, looking down at her with surprised stares. "Would either of you be interested in a battle?" she continued, beaming. They exchanged a look, then one stepped forward, smiling uncertainly.
"Um... I don't think pokemon can do battles without their trainer present..." she commented, giving a glance towards the small crowd following Mime Jr. "Sure they can!" Mimey replied happily, "How else are we supposed to train when our trainer's healing? Just think of it like a wild pokemon battle! But against all of us! It's just more training for your pokemon, too, right?" The two girls exchanged looks again, and the first one folded her arms over her chest, a small smile on her face. "Well... I suppose it can't hurt," she decided, still looking a bit hesitant, "So long as you promise your trainer won't get mad...." Mimey beamed. "Don't worry! Jay's nice, he won't get mad at all!" she replied reassuringly.

Mimey and the others moved back, and the girls quickly discussed who would go first. The one that had been talking to them ended up going first, smiling and lightly tossing her pokeball up to release her first pokemon. Mime Jr immediately perked up. 'That's a dragon type!' she piped up, keeping her team connected telepathically. Perhaps it was Jade starting to step forward that hurried her, but she rushed ahead. 'I got this!' she declared.
Scy bowed his head slightly to glance down at Jade, who's ears went back as her eyes narrowed. She shook her head, then laid down. Actually.... for the keen observer, she'd been squinting since they left the pokecenter. Gail seemed too busy excitedly watching the match, and taking in her surroundings, but Tod and Scy had noticed. The meleeon seemed to be almost suffering, the way she twitched and maintained her glare. But, neither exactly wanted to call her on it.

Sebastian was heading his way back into the city, pokemon fed and checked before returning all but Naps, Dues and Rummy. The Typhlosion was following along enjoying his new found height, eyeing everything in wonderment. Who knew there was so much to see up here? The trainer had left Dues out to check on the Eevee and to keep Rummy’s attention when it came to his rampant talking. He’d kept Rummy out partially because he wanted to figure out if he’d want to participate in contests. First things first though, he needed to prepare for his gym battle.
After reviewing his team he’d come to the conclusion that they weren’t exactly the best. While they weren’t exactly disadvantaged -save for his dark types now they where not going to do well in a battle against fighting types- but they weren’t exactly strong either. He could rely on Naps for the battle at least, the psychic move was nice and he was considerably strong, but that meant Sebastian didn’t have a fall back pokemon in the event something happened. Maybe Dice would do? Gin might’ve been able to handle a battle as well.
Sebastian was in quiet thought as they walked the street with pokemon in tow, Rummy talking away about this and that while an annoyed Dues listened –or didn’t listen- to it.

A berry stall caught Naps newly heightened gaze and with a squeaky roar of excitement he scrambled over to it. Maneuvering was still a new thing for him; for the longest of times he’d been use to walking on four legs, this two legs thing was different. Eventually he plopped back to all fours to move quicker, popping up at gazing hungrily.
"What is it, Naps?" Sebastian inquired, walking up and looking at the stall goods with only the slightest of interest. "Berries? You just ate."
”The finest berries around lad! You interested in buying a few?” The man running the stall suddenly commended, appearing from practically nowhere. Sebastian straightened up in surprise, looking at the man, giving a wave off gesture and a shake of his head. "Oh uhm… no thank you. I don’t really have a need for them." The man’s eyes went slightly wide at the remark, arms folding over his chest as he eyed Sebastian with slight disbelief.
”No need for them?! Lad, berries are an important part of a trainer’s arsenal. They’ve got all kinds of uses, from battles to contests-”
"Wait, they’re used in contests? Really?" Sebastian perked up, curiosity on his face. Naps was still eyeing the berries hungrily, giving the slightest of side gazes at his trainer. Could he maybe sneak a berry or two? The man was grinning though, hands now at his waist. ”Of course! They’re the primary ingredients in making contests foods like poffins or pokeblocks.” The man remarked, a hand sweeping over the berry selection. He reached behind the counter of the stand, producing a book and shoving it in Sebastian afterwards, a set expression on his face. ”If you want to get into contests, you’ll need to know about berries. Here, this book’s got all kinds of information on the different types of berries and their benefits.”
"Oh uhm… alright. Thank you!" Sebastian took the book, an eyebrow quirked. Well that was certainly a convenient find. He open the cover of the book, flipping through a few of the pages a bit to look it over. The man just grinned. ”Not a problem! Let’s get you some berries to start with alright?” Sebastian gave a nod, starting to look through the selections.
Naps managed to nudge a berry free, only for it to fall and roll away. Before he even had a chance to try and retrieve it for eating, Dues had caught sight of it and after a slight sniff, gobbled it up without hesitation. The Typhlosion gave a little whimper, Dues just opening a single leery eye to stare back at him. Too bad, so sad.

Sebastian gave the man at the stall a wave goodbye as he moved along, a box of various berries in hand. He tucked the box of berries and the book away much to the dismayed whimper of Naps. That was certainly one thing off his list for research on contests; he’d have to look that book over a bit later and let Jay know what he’d found out.
A short walk later and he was at the Pokemart, little crew in tow. While Sebastian browsed the wears and Naps continued to pout over the lack of berry eating, Rummy and Dues remained near the door, Rummy still chittering excitedly at his friend.
"What do you think you’ll evolve into, huh, Dues? I bet it’ll be awesome. ‘Cause your kind of awesome. Do you think it’ll be shiny? Or glowing? I think it’d be cool to glow. Oooo, maybe you’ll get the wings!" Dues just rolled his eyes, opting to stare out the door instead. He had better things on his mind than evolving. Though given what had happened to Rummy, it was probably something he should consider. Maybe he should find his own rock before Sebastian did; at least he could assure what he evolved into that way.

On her way off, Jade suddenly took a very sharp detour, leaping in front of Mime Jr. As her paws hit the ground the earth shook, her narrowed, bleary gaze glaring at the pokemon that had been sent out. The pachirisu cried in surprise, wobbling as Jade rampaged and shook the earth, then, just as quickly as she had leaped in, darted off. The Pachirisu was left unconscious from the powerful attack, and Tod glared after the pokemon, with Mime Jr dizzy on the ground.
Jade seemed far from concerned, however. She bounded after Gail, nipping her companion's tail to slow her so they could stop and get supplies to actually carry the berries once they found them. They both manage to get a decent sized piece of cloth (that was absolutely not from a table cloth Jade shredded) and both bounded off for the cave.
