A streak would appear in the air, met with the belated whoosh of air and tearing of leaves as POMF appeared several feet behind Bellona. Bat wings flapping rapidly the Pokemon seemed quite pleased with herself, puffing up with glee and doing her own little variation of the dance Bellona had been doing; only six feet in the air!

Bellona wobbled dizzily, green eyes slighty unfocused. "Did... someone get the number on that fluffball?" she slurred, more surprised than properly hurt.
Vanni's was slightly less amusing, for she at least seemed to have some kind of grasp on how high up the Woobat is. These two were neck and neck, and sooner or later, something was going to give... and hopefully, it wouldn't be her dear Pokemon. "We can report her to the Agency for Reckless Fliers later! Try Fury Cutter again!"
"On it, boss." Bellona sounded a little less dazed as she straighten out, looking up at her opponent. High-flying freakshow... well, there was no point in not reaching for the stars! Despite her short stature, the Chikorita rushed at the the Woobat, leaping up with all her strength!
Unfortunately this time Bellona would find her assault missing by a mile as the Woobat fly up higher then swooped. With a snap of his finger's Al would give the command "Confusion!"
All at once psychic energy would begin radiating from the Woobat, and then Bellona's vision would begin to skew. Colours would bleed, shapes would wobble, and everyone's voice became high pitcjed and nonsensical. It was like watching Teletubbies on acid. Certainly the effect would be more than a little disorienting!

Bellona crashed to the ground, though slightly more gracefully than before. Sure, she'd missed, but if she'd just managed to get off the ground a little sooner... She glared up at that Woobat, shaking her vine. (Grumpy Chikorita yells at cloud.) But her irritation was suddenly knocked away by the sparkly assault on her mind. Damn, not the confusion again! This bat was an affront to both the body and the mind!
She took a dee breath, drawing herself inward. Focus... do not fall under the sway of the cute... at Vanni's command, she tensed up. Time to go! She rushed forward through the medley of colors and noise, blade as sharp as ever! Despite the confusion, she intended to counter with Fury Cutter!
Bellona would find that this time her bladed leaf would tear through the Woobat as if the little puffball was made entirely of paper mache; unfortunately it wasn't confetti which spilled out of the Pokemon's gaping wound. Blood, warm and a little sticky, would splatter across Bellona briefly in the sudden release of pressure, the wound continuing to ooze long after the Woobat struck the ground. It would seem in a single attack they'd managed to remove the Woobat from this world....
...or so it appear. Abruptly the Woobat's body began to glow with a light similar to that of evolution; but instead of turning into the 'intimidating' form of a Swoobat, the Woobat's form would condense, solidifying until what sat in the road before them was a large periwinkle egg covered in large pink hearts.
With a visage like doom itself Alistair would step forward, kneeling down and picking up the egg. Briefly he would mutter, looking over his shoulder "Thanks Jeff..." Before standing and returning to his original position. Reaching to his belt the boy's brows began to knit "Look like it's time to get serious. Time to rend and tear...ILIANA!"
Light flashed as the ball reached a few feet into the air, releasing it's charge onto the ground. Red eyes took in the world before her, poisonous barbs lining her back rising slightly in anticipation of battle as her pointed tongue tentatively licked her fangs. Nostrils flared as she took a deep breath of the fresh air, and with it the faint scent of a Grass-Type. She shuddered in excitement ">Oh this is going to be gooooood...<" The Nidorina said as she locked eyes with her foe.
"No time for that Iliana, we've got some payback to dish out on this one. Use Scratch!" Alistair commanded, his face all seriousness now.
">Oh fine fine<" The Nidorina complained, rolling her eyes slightly as she began running forward; but as she locked eyes with the Chikorita all the Grass-Type would see was a brightness and glee at being in battle. Leaping into the air with powerful legs the Poison-type would swing one arm back, spreading the fingers of her hand and readying her claws to deliver the blow!

Bellona didn't mind the blood splattering her leafy blade; if your opponent bleed, it meant you were doing something right. Very right, as it turned out, seeing how that obnoxious fluffball from hell no longer polluted her senses. She stood proudly at attention, glancing back at her trainer with a grin. Surely her lady would be proud of such an outstanding display of power!
Not exactly. The instant the Chikorita's attack tore through the Woobat, she gasped a muffled "No!", of course, to no avail. Fighting was fine, but that wasn't! Hand clasped over her mouth, she watched at the Woobat fell... no not again you're doing it wrong we're supposed to be better--
But fortunately, it wasn't to be. Vanni and the voice in her head breathed a sigh of relief as POMF's body turned inward and became an egg. It wasn't quite turning back time, but it would do. "I'm sorry," she said to Alistair, voice soft with a quiet sincerity that probably didn't make up for nearly losing one of his Pokemon. So rattled was she that she hardly noticed the daring Nidorina, when she would have normally rather admired the lovely creature. "Bellona, move."
Well, Phoebe was right. Vanni was nuts. What kind of trainer WOULDN'T be happy she'd won a battle? Bellona sighed, adjusting her now-stained headband out of habit. Humans. She eyed Iliana, who looked like a slightly older and bitchier version of the aforementioned nurse Pokemon. "This oughta be good," she mutter, doing her best to zig-zag out of the way.
Claw tore into flesh, leaving a red streak across green. The Nidorina had landed her blow flawlessly, and the smugness over this fact was written clearly across her face, although there was a brief flash of disappointment in the Poison-type's eyes.
After a moment longer the Nidorina would outwardly sigh, declaring quite loudly ">Bored now!<" Obviously she'd been expecting more of a fight than...well....this.
"Patience. You'll get your fun" Alistair stated, casting his gaze from his Pokemon to Vanni as he added "This is far from over."

Bellona didn't really have much of a chance to think as Iliana's claws ripped across her body, and collapsed without much preamble.
Well, that could have gone better... Vanni sighed as she recalled her Chikorita. Still, Bellona had done the best she could, and she wasn't going to begrudge her for that. And Vanni didn't intended to waste her efforts. She met Alistair's gaze, and nodded. "Of course" . Hopefully, she could keep this battle going. With a quiet squeak of encouragement from the voice in the back of her head (which was a bit of a miracle, seeing as the voice rarely spoke up when she was battling unless someone had died), Vanni reached into her purse. "Culann!" she called, summoning the fluffy fire-dog from the depths the Pokeball. "On the defensive, if you please."
Well, at least he'd gotten a bit of a rest. The Growlithe yawn widely, trying to get his sense. "Defense, gotcha-- what the hell are you wearing?" He had stretched and turned around, suddenly distracted by the new thing on his trainers head. He hadn't actually been expecting her to respond, but...
Vanni couldn't help a slight smile; even outside the Dream, her Growlithe still proved to be a calming presence. "It's allowing me to understand you," she said, tapping the electronic device in her ear.
Culann blinked. "Well. All right, then." He shook himself out, giving his opponent a once over. He inclined his head politely to the Nidorina-- she was going to be after his blood, but this didn't mean he wasn't going to be respectful. Finally taking Vanni's orders into consideration, he lightly darted to the left, claws digging into the ground as he raced.
Ilianna would respond by promptly snubbing the Growlithe, closing her eyes and giving a light upturn of her nose. It was nothing against him personally...well except it was exactly. He looked weak to her, less of a warrior than the last one, and that didn't get her hopes up for a particularly rousing confrontation. That big word for battle her trainer liked using all the time.
"Illiana let's start this off by wearing them down. Venom Drench!" Alistair would command from the sidelines, looking about as unimpressed with Vanni's choice as his Pokemon....well maybe about half as much. He at least looked serious.
">Oh gag....really? You know what that stuff does to my tastebuds! Last time I couldn't...<" The Nidorina complained, looking over her shoulder and stopping partway ">.....oh fine....<" She muttered, turning back to her foe. She hated it when he glared at her that way. Such a simple flat look. There was no arguing with the man then! None!
Making a slight gagging gesture before she began, the Poison-type would open her maw wide, throat convulsing slightly before she released a haphazard spray of toxin across the battlefield, one which reacted....oddly with other poisons.
Unfortunately Al had neglected to consider the lack of other toxins present...

((-1 to Illiana's attack rolls!)) The toxic concture splattered harmlessly on the ground, far away from Culann. The stoic Growlithe shook himself out, not particularly liking the color of that spew... poison-type Pokemon were bizarre in so many ways. Would Phoebe turn out like this if... when she evolved? He couldn't not; the little chit was bossy enough as it was; she didn't need to be a war-monger on top of it.
Vanni couldn't help a slight smile. They were still in the running. Running her hand through her short, brown bob, she spoke up again. "Flare Blitz, if you don't mind?" she asked politely, as if requesting a drink.
Culann took a deep breath, stoking in his inner fire with focus and strength... or some equally shonen nonsense. The familiar sensation of flames burning off his fur let him know he was on the right right, and he pawed the ground sharply. Like a shot, he took off running, charging right at the Nidorina with a spark in his eyes!
"Illiana fire-brigade tactic!" Alistair called sharply. Seemed they had a prearranged strategy for Fire-Types.
">And I just sharped my nails...<" The Nidorina grumbled as she, surprisingly, would turn her back on Culaan. Hunching over the Poison-type would dig her claws into the ground, putting her muscles to work as she began digging up soil. With each passing moment she'd work faster, flinging the scoops behind her in an avalanche of dirt. Seemed they were trying to snuff out this fire before it got too far!

Hah! Turning your back on your opponent; what a careless and-- oomph. Mouthful of dirt. Culann skipped to a stop, momentarily stunned. He spat the substance out, and gave his body a quick cursory shake. (Unlike his trainer, who was inwardly cringing at all that dirt on his pretty fur, he wasn't fussed to so much as surprised. Not only had Illiana's defense temporarily quelled his flames, it halted him in his tracks. The firedog gave a slight chuckle, a strange spark in his eyes. This ought to be fun...
At his trainer's orders, he took of defensively, peeling out to the left and little more than an orange motion blur. The little rabbit had good aim, but could she keep up?
"Alright Illiana, shred em!" The young Al commanded, pointing dramatically and taking a stance, just hoping to focus the enemies attention on himself for a little bit. Before the words had even left his mouth his Pokemon had darted forward, but the longer their attention remained away from her the better for them.
">Now you're speaking my language!<" The poison-type cried gleefully. Oohoohoo! This was going to be good! Claws still sharp despite the dirt the Nidorina would vaulted forward, muscles tense, arms at the ready. Fur wasn't going to be the only red thing on this Growlithe's body!
