Adrian sighed as he stared up at the ceiling, hoping Amaya's fight went okay. Typically he was always there to watch her fights, moral support no matter what kind of match it was, but for now he was stuck in bed just hoping things went okay. "Least I can't feel any worse I suppose." he muttered to himself as he closed his eyes, though he had no plans to go to sleep just yet. Least he could do was wait up for her to come back.

The fight passed quickly, and then it was Amaya's turn. She and her two 'partners' went down into the ring, waiting for the fight to begin. However this time it began without any warning, Amaya only hearing a shriek of agony from one of her partners, feeling a warm spray of blood hit her face before she could even turn her head to see what had happened.
At that point there was no sense in looking. She knew he was either dead or dying, so she ran forward, spotting a monster slithering out into the arena. It looked like a gorgon almost, but it was a man, who from the waist down, did have the body of a snake, and that was about 12 feet in length just with his tail. Whether or not he was responsible for her partner's death, Amaya didn't care, she just focused on him, knowing the remaining partner would most likely go after whatever killed their companion.

Smith had already taken his seat next to Avondale when the other Masters started coming in. Sikes owned him now, true, but Avondale was simply more interesting when it came to commentary. They both had the same ideas about strategy, and Avondale had more instinct than most Masters when it came to fighting. "Amaya - the shadow-girl - has talent."
Avondale didn't take his eyes off Sikes, having gazed steadily at the man for the past five minutes. "Orion?"
"No. Five weeks, perhaps."
"Hm. I give her twelve days, at the most."
"True, for the moment, but she will gain a better handle on her own mind in time."
"I give myself a year or more."
Smith started to answer Avondale's statement, then paused. Avondale was not given to making non-sequitur pronouncements. "The Mutate gene has not manifested in anyone over the age of twenty-two."
Avondale reached a gloved hand into his coat and brought out a small ball, perhaps an inch across, made of what looked to be pure silver. It was the work of a moment for Avondale to remove the glove on his other hand and place his palm on the orb. Within a minute the orb was black as tar, with pitting and distortions all over. It looked as if it had not been polished or cleaned in a thousand years or more. Avondale, in contrast, looked at least ten years younger. His face was that of a man in his mid-40s, and his limbs were noticeably more muscular. His voice, too, was deeper and less wavering. "Anything inorganic I touch with my left hand ages ten thousand years to the minute, anything organic I touch with my right hand less myself ages six months to the second. I gain back one-tenth of one percent for my left hand and full returns on my right hand. It took me a few days to get the ratios down, and I can't seem to turn it off. I must say, though, being twenty-two again is... invigorating."
Smith took several moments to find his voice, and for the first time in years he didn't know whether his silence was from shock or revulsion. "I think I realize now why you call our kind 'freaks.' You're aging faster than you were, and if this is the first few days you'll burn out inside of a month."
Avondale simply grinned after Smith as the latter walked away towards Sikes. "He's probably right, I suppose... But I wouldn't trade this back for anything."

Amaya had taken her monster form seconds after the fight began, but as it wore on, it was obvious she was getting tired and her control was wearing thin. She had to buy herself a few more minutes at least. The second opponent was a monster that could fire off metal beams from his body like a rail gun, and he was gunning for Amaya.
She sprinted in a large circle, hearing the beams crash behind her, until she finally came to a halt, standing right behind her partner, putting him in the line of fire. As he dissipated into no more than a bloody mist, Amaya grinned. "That it?" She asked as she cracked her neck and licked the blood off her lips. It was getting close now to the point that she'd have to make her decision.

Kierra's eyes widened at the sight of the spikes. She shot a few fireballs, trying to melt the ice, but more would reform in its place. She opted for running in an arch to get behind try to get behind Rock, shooting fire at him the entire time.

The rays of ice spikes followed her in her arc, while Rock followed her movement, edging the wall of ice separating them to block the fire she tried firing at her. He wouldn't be able to keep this going for too long, but once the wall links it around, he would be temporarily untouchable. temporarily. "I told you, the only way is up. I'm not holding back!" Rock shouted to her as the ice kept crawling at his limbs, it hadn't reached the chest yet, nor the hair.

"So you sacrificed your partners for nothing?" The monster asked as he readied a beam to throw. "They were nothing." Amaya answered, taking a few deep breaths as she tried to catch herself up. "You're bluffing. And you're trying to buy time." He said to her, pausing his attack still. "Been buying time since I came down here." Amaya laughed before she threw a few shadows spears his way.
The other monster seemed to react faster though and threw the metal beam at Amaya, and at such an angle that none of the spears she had thrown would block it or knock it a little off course, and Amaya was too tired to run out of the way in time.
The only defense Amaya could muster was a small shield of shadows to protect her where the beam was going to hit; but when the shield exploded, Amaya went flying back into the wall, laying on the ground, her right arm pinned under several large piece of rubble.

The hit had only stunned Amaya for a few moments, but she knew she couldn't free her arm. In desperation, Amaya tried to phase through the ground, but her powers still refused to allow her the ability to phase, and now she couldn't use them to lift the rubble off.
"Seems you've run out of time..." The monster said as he slowly walked up to Amaya, readying another beam, this one pointed at the end. When Amaya spotted it, her eyes widened as she began to process that if she did not gain control in a few short moments, she would die.
"Sacrifice what makes you weaker...show us what you will do to survive and you will be granted control once more..." The shadows whispered to Amaya. She shuddered, hearing their eerie voices before what they said hit her. As the monster raised his spear and moved to strike, Amaya took her human form, then closed her eyes tight.
It happened in mere milliseconds, first a cloud of dust rose as the monster moved to stab Amaya in the heart, then an agonized scream of pain pierced the air...then silence. As the dust settled, the monster was left standing where Amaya had landed, his spear stuck in the ground. Next to it was a dark pool of blood that was slowly growing from beneath the rubble.
Finally a figure rose from the shadows in the center of the arena, facing the monster. It was Amaya, but her right arm was completely gone. She had cut it off at the shoulder at the very last second, but now she was breathing raggedly as blood poured from the wound.
Her opponent turned to stare at her in horror, unable to even comprehend the fact that he should probably just finish her off while she was frozen with shock. Amaya was shaking terribly and she bit her lip, trying to force he body to move. This only lasted for a moment before a shadow shot out of the ground and into the gaping wound, causing Amaya to scream in pain, falling to her knees as she dug her fingers into the ground, continuing to scream as the shadow fluctuated in her shoulder until it slowly took shape of her arm like it was in her monster form. The bleeding halted and the screams slowly turned to whimpers until it was replaced with silence.

Her head was pounding as the shadows began to integrate themselves into Amaya's body, replacing her missing limb in its entirety, save that it was now constructed of shadows and could change to anything she wanted. Once Amaya was used to it and the pain subsided, she slowly flexed her new hand and looked up and down her arm, turning it and making sure it worked before she turned her sights on the monster, who had now snapped out of it, seeing the look it her eyes.
Amaya found new strength, out of the adrenaline high she had gotten from nearly dying, as well as a shot of adrenaline she had given herself in the shadows after cutting off her arm to keep herself from dying of shock before she could finish the fight.
"Let's finish this." Amaya hissed as she ran towards the monster, now throwing aside the metal beams he shot at her like nothing with her new arm. As she got closer, he managed to send her into the air, though that became a bad idea as he saw the smirk arise on her face. That smirk was the last thing he saw. Her arm had extended down and then speared directly through his skull. Once she drew her arm out, she looked at it and licked the blood of her arm slowly before she cast a look to Sikes in the stands. He seemed satisfied, so she left the other monster, who was unconscious, alive, disappearing from the arena in a shadow, reappearing outside the arena as she slowly made her way home.

"Welcome back." Adrian called from his room upon hearing Amaya return. "How'd the fight go?" he asked as he sat up in his bed, unaware of just how bad things had gotten in the ring.

"Fantastic as always. I used my remaining partner as a meat shield, cut off my own arm and allowed shadows to physically inhabit my body, then I killed a man with said shadows, tasted two different people's blood, and won the match." Amaya said as she walked into the doorway, resting her monster arm on the doorframe. Everything but her right arm was in her human form, but her pupils were still huge, still not having worn off the adrenaline.

Adrian looked a little horrified when he saw Amaya. "You look terrible....I hope that was a do or die option..." he said as his eyes moved to her shadow arm. "Sorry it had to come to that..."

"That or my mind. Regained control for now at least." Amaya said with a slight shrug. "Calista stay asleep?" She asked, remember now that she did in fact have a daughter who was sleeping in the house at the moment.
