There was more to battling than just strength, Esben was right, there was battling experience, and strategy involved too; plus, good ole fashioned type advantages. But, that was the sort of ‘long winded’ conversation that Huey felt would just go over Esben’s head. Probably. So, as it was, the boy only nodded, concluding that specific discussion.
“Oh.” Well, trading was just as good as selling was, probably; you could get cool things from both. “What’s the coolest thing you guys have traded?” Huey questioned, still genuinely interested in Esben’s way of life, which was so much more different than his own. So much so, that he almost felt… bad(?) for mentioning that he’d never been attacked by a dragon before, though the sense of offset guilt was quickly overrun by relief. Honestly, he didn’t know what he’d do if he had to experience a dragon attack on a regular basis. “Mm, yeah. It’s probably a lot more calmer than where you come from,” Huey admitted, with a shrug. Honestly, he still couldn’t wrap his head around the idea of pokemon attacking humans, and so frequently too, but he’d, more or less, calmed down at this point. He looked up at the sky. “Maybe you and your family should just move here, then you guys wouldn’t have to worry about dragons.” And instead work on how to adjust themselves to electronics and libraries.
Huey kept his gaze skyward, not quite searching but… aimless; the drifting clouds were something to watch as he considered everything Esben had told him, up to that point, and how he would go from there. He wasn’t good with confrontation… And it showed, the way he shrank back, his eyes, as wide as saucers, no longer on the sky but on Esben; the boy, younger and smaller than him, yelling. Huey looked down at the ground, muttered an apology, then shuffled his feet. His own pokemon, unsure of how to react to the newcomer’s outburst, only stared warily at him, though it was Cloud who continually patted Huey’s arm.
He hadn’t meant to upset Esben, he just wanted to share his opinion, and the last thing he would do was anger the boy further. So that was exactly why he wouldn’t say anything else, or bring up dragons anymore, even if he still held a different opinion. Minerva was a very kind pokemon, even if she did look terrifying, and the other dragons his sister trained were of the same nature, he couldn’t, in a hundred years, imagine them attacking a human who didn’t deserve it. But, it wasn’t his place to change Esben’s mind, if such a feat was possible.
As quiet as he kept, upon their arrival, Huey did keep to his own advice: staying on the sideake and never straying too far ahead of Esben, turning back to make sure the boy was still with him. From his peripheral vision he caught sight of a familiar shade of red, and Huey looked over to the left to see a Pokemon Center just across the street. “Did you want to have Nurse Joy look at your team, and make sure they’re ready to take on the gym leader?” he asked, though kept his gaze straight ahead. “We could also ask her for directions to the library and gym.”

Esben thought a moment on the question. "Ahh… I think a full dragon hide! From a Druddiger! All in one piece an’ everything," He beamed proudly. "I think we traded it for weapons… or food? I can’t remember but it was good! You can’t usually get a hide without it bein’ full of holes or burnt!" Usually it was just scales or horns, or chunks of hide that managed to survive the fights, so it was hard not to feel exceptionally proud of this as the coolest thing ever traded by his clan. "I’ve never really traded something myself though…,"
"Huhm… I don’t know," Esben said, a frown following suit. "Peace an’ quiet is nice and all, but that gets boring! A Viking ain’ boring!" Despite his retort though, his expressions had softened some at the thought of a life not riddled with the daily challenge of surviving the wild and dragons and what not. It’d be a nice change and maybe secretly, he wished it was an option. That pleasantry was wiped out of course as Esben’s emotions took over and he exploded in upset rage at the blonde. He didn’t’ acknowledge the looks it earned him from the surrounding pokemon, nor did he feel much guild for the look of feat Huey gave. The silence was awkward after that as they trudged along through the forest. Esben kept up with Huey though without difficulty, absently snuggling Flef closer to his chest for comfort as they did. He was beginning to mull over his reaction and how, if Ulla had been there, she’d be scolding him for his it as it wasn’t very Viking like to lose your temper and scream like a child, when Huey finally broke the silence to mention a ‘Nurse Joy’ checking his team.
"Huh?" He stared, glancing around the new location, confusion evident. The young man still couldn’t make heads nor tails of these city places and why the buildings had to be so tall and numerous and strange looking. He considered the idea a moment, looking at his team as though silently communicating their options.
"Alright. That sounds… smart?" Esben tried to sound like he was complimenting the idea but came off as more unsure than anything else. "What’s a nurse? Are they like healers?" He inquired curiously. They way Huey described them, even as briefly as it was, made it sound that way. Being at top health was important after all when engaging a challenge! So were directions too, but he’d over look that for now.

"A Druddiger's... hide?" Try as he might, Huey couldn't hide the surprise that lit up his visage; but, better surprise than disgust. "Well, that's good for you guys," he eventually spoke. If he didn't think about just how they got such a hide, he was able to keep up the semi-smile that'd, somehow, found its way onto his lips. "Maybe I can help you find something?" he offered, but was quick to add, "Just as long as it isn't a 'hide', or anything like that. Maybe we can find something cool, like gold or an old weapon." He was being rather optimistic about, what smart individuals many might consider 'rare items', but at least those kind of items were never alive.
Huey shook his head. "Just because it's peaceful doesn't mean things get boring, there are tons of other stuff you can do." The urge to add on that his world wasn't entirely peaceful, just because they didn't have dragons attacking them didn't mean they didn't have to worry about other dangers, tugged at his subconscious. But, he never got the chance to bring it up, as Esben's outburst made a continuation of their conversation impossible. That was fine though, there were more important matters to take care of.
"Mm, yeah. That's exactly what they are, nurses help to heal your pokemon." Glad that Esben had agreed, Huey looked both ways, checking to make sure it was safe to cross the street, before he motioned for the younger boy to follow him. The sidewalk was a bit busier than its adjacent partner, with a few oddly dressed individuals advertising... something, but it provided no difficulty in getting into the Pokemon Center, and once inside Huey ushered Esben up to the front counter. "Hi, Nurse Joy. Could you look at my friend's pokemon for him?" he asked, then turned to look at said friend. "You'll probably have to put your pokemon back in their balls, it'll make things easier," he suggested.

"Oh… alrigh’." Esben said with a nod as his suspicions were confirmed. He followed Huey across the street (though made faces as the other boy took a moment to assure it was safe to cross, a concept he didn’t understand the point of) before the crossed towards the pokemon center. Esben’s attention was drawn though to the crowds of people gathered on the sidewalk, staring in suspicion at the oddly costumed individuals that seemed to be wooing other common folk. There was something off about them…
Snapping his attention back as they entered, though still looking curious about the strangers, he stared up at the Nurse Joy as Huey explained why they were there. This was his first time seeing a Nurse Joy or a pokemon center and in the moment Esben wished he was just a bit taller to see over the counter top and into the back area where the sounds of whirling were coming from. He looked at Huey though as he remarked about returning his pokemon, face contorting in a confused look that read as though he’d just been asked to punch his mother or something out of the blue.
"Back in their… balls?" He repeated, still staring at the blonde and even giving the Nurse a look when she too gave a confirming nod. The hell were they talking about? "What balls? They don’t have balls." Esben stated with a matter of fact tone, before simply reaching up and setting Flef on the counter before turning around and following suit with the rest of his pokemon like that was okay. "If she’s gonna look at them then she can do just that! I’ll put’em up there too for her!" That made far more sense to him. "Who were tha’ people outside anyways? They look like the dead!"

"Oh." Huey's eyebrows shot up. Out of all the things not to have, a pokeball didn't need to be one of them. "It's how you hold your pokemon, when you don't want to have them walk everywhere," Huey explained, even as Esben went about placing his pokemon onto the counter. Still though, there probably wouldn't be too much of a problem for Nurse Joy to examine the pokemon while they were out; she didn't seem to have a problem with it. Still, he ought to learn more about pokeballs, they were useful.
He would have much preferred talking about them, in fact, than discussing the 'dead people' outside. "They're... advertising something," Huey confessed, a sour expression taking over his face. "It's probably getting close to Halloween." Did Esben know what Halloween was? Better to keep on the safe side and assume he didn't. "It's a holiday where people dress up as scary things, and little kids go out and get candy." Huey rocked on his heels a bit, looked at Esben, and then looked out to the window. Esben might've liked... whatever it was that was going on, and he did still feel bad about earlier...
"Hold on," he muttered, then proceeded to head outside and interact just long enough with one of the advertisers to grab a flyer before he returned inside. "It's... called Spookival," Huey read aloud, though made a face as he did so. What a dumb name... "It's, uhm, a kind of Halloween based kind of..." He wanted to say 'carnival', but he doubted Esben knew what that was. "...A kind of gathering, with food and games, and stuff."

Esben’s brow furrowed further in confusion, giving Huey an odd look as he explained what these ‘balls’ were. "Why would I want to do that though? That’s no good for a battle!" He said curtly, glancing at the Nurse suspiciously as she looked over his team. He didn’t know what kind of medical techniques they used in this day and age and he didn’t want her pulling any sort of funny business with his warriors. Byr seemed a step ahead of him though, already making it clear to the nurse that he was in charge and that there’d be no funny business under his watch.
This let the young Viking draw his attention back to his question and the less than thrilled response Huey gave. He didn’t miss the expression on the other boys face, which made him even more curious. "Oh yeh?" He tilted his head a bit, "Halloween, huh? I’ve never heard of that," it didn’t sound like any of the festivals or celebrations his people participated in. "Wha’s candy?" There was so many things in this world that were foreign to him. It was unnerving at times. He watched Huey as he briefly disappeared to consort with the odd-looking people outside, returning with a paper. Esben frowned at the name. "Spook… ival? Like… spirits and ghosts and stuff?" What were people in this time doing exactly?
"Huh," it all sounded weird as hell and maybe even a bit like a walking death trap. But Esben was no coward and the idea of food and maybe even games with ghosts (because that was how he was interpreting that part) peaked his interest. He grinned, hands balling into fist as a bit of excitement touched his tone. "I’ve never talked with spirits! Eskil says they know all kinds of things though, maybe they can help me get home and I bet ghost food tastes amazing! We should go, how do we get there?!"

"Well, you can always release them when you want to battle," Huey explained. Pokeballs were pretty important, more important than knowing what a library was, and he'd have to convey that importance... without overwhelming Esben. "Every trainer needs pokeballs. I'll show you how to use them, and why you should use them, later, okay?" He couldn't break all the information down in the lobby of a pokecenter, and, besides, Esben wanted to go and battle a gym leader.
..Or at least he had. But, now it seemed that the young's boy interest lied elsewhere, much to Huey's chagrin. "Candy is... candy; sugar. It's good, and it's sweet. Though you can't eat too much of it or else you'll get a tummy ache and a cavity." Huey had candy of his own, but... well, he needed to throw that away. Thankfully there was some nearby, in a small bowl atop Nurse Joy's counter. "Here." Grabbing two pieces, he handed one to Esben before unwrapping the other and popping it into his mouth. "This is a butterscotch. They're not my favorite candy, but they're still pretty good."
Huey sucked on his candy, and continued to suck on it after returning inside with a flyer. "Yeah. Spirits and ghosts," he confirmed, and nodded his head. Already his body was filling with a sense of dread, as he could sense where the conversation was leading to. The last thing he wanted to do was attend anything Halloween related, he no longer held any love for the holiday, but it was obvious that Esben was excited by the idea, and he had confronted part of his fear by attending that stupid ball. Besides, he couldn't let Esben go alone, for the boy's sake and... for the sake of others. "...I can fly us there," Huey informed, reluctantly. "It's in Kalos, so it's not too far away."
He was quiet a moment, contemplating rather than pouting. "...You'll have to put your pokemon in pokeballs though. Belle, my Staraptor, isn't big enough to carry all of your pokemon," he explained, but was quick to add, "It'll be really quick, and after we get there you can take your pokemon right back out -- I'll show you. And your pokemon won't get hurt or anything."

Esben crinkled his nose and gave Huey a bit of a distrusting look. "They ought to be ready to battle all the time! They’ll get too soft otherwise!" He retorted, arms folding over his chest in a disgruntled fashion. These balls sounded like an inconvenience, who had time in battle to summoning their pokemon? They needed to be ready to fight then and there! It all seemed very silly and people of this era were clearly lucky that nothing attacked them on a daily basis, because they’d be dead.
He eyed the strange little wrapped goodie that Huey gave him, taking it and holding it between the fingers of his hands like it was some piece of delicate china. He watched the other boy as he unwrapped it and followed suit, eyeing the odd little brown thing (which looked a bit like a rock to him) before carefully popping it into his own mouth. Esben immediately tried to bite down only to be met with the fact that this wasn’t the right way to go about eating it and was about to spit it out when his eyes lit up in delight. "It tastes just like a sweet roll!" Esben announced, enjoying the flavors.
"Wha’? You afraid of spirits? They can’t hurt ya if you’re brave!" He remarked, head tilting curiously. Nurse Joy had returned with his pokemon and a positive evaluation, to which Esben expected no less. He retrieved his team before perking in excitement as Huey announced he could fly them there. "Flyin’? Really? You can’t have a bird that big!" He marveled, eyed the other in thought. He immediately made a face of disapproval at the concession that he’d have to put his team away in these ‘balls’ first. His arms were crossed over his chest again, dangerously close to pouting and calling Huey’s bird weak before giving a heavy sigh.
"Fine. But just for the flight! And then they’re back out!" He announced quickly before looking at his team and then the blonde. "So how do these… balls work? Huh?" He’d yet to even see what one of these thing was… an excellent start.

Huey didn't know what a sweet roll was, but he nodded his head anyway; he was just glad that Esben liked it. "Candy comes in all types of flavors," he explained, idly playing with his wrapper. "If you try a lot, you're bound to find your favorite flavor." He sucked on his butterscotch, and kept at it in lieu of responding to Esben's question. He was afraid of ghosts, some ghosts, they could be scary after all, but he didn't feel up to explaining his reasoning there.
Upon Esben's next question, however, he readily responded too. "I do. Belle is great." He kept a slight smile, even among the brunette's sour expression, though it simmered down into neutrality when Esben finally conceded to the idea of putting his pokemon away. "Just for the flight," Huey agreed, then motioned for Esben and his team to follow him out the door. Once outside he took the time to return Beep and Dianna, displaying the ease of using a pokeball, before releasing his Staraptor. "Belle, this is Esben. Esben, this is Belle. We're going to a carnival near Laverre Trail," he introduced the two, adding in an explanation for his pokemon on top. From there Huey went about showing Esben how to use a pokeball, giving him several of his own pokeballs to use.
"So, usually when you're trying to catch a pokemon you have to battle, and get it weak enough. Then you make your pokeball large like this." Huey pressed down on the capsule's button as so. "And toss it at the pokemon. But, since you've already befriended your pokemon all you'll need to do is tap your pokemon with it, and it ought to work." While he waited for Esben to follow those instructions he returned Cloud, after some thought on just how much space they would have, then went back to playing with his candy wrapper. Afterwards, and when Esben managed to get a handle on capturing pokemon, he climbed atop of Belle and offered Esben his hand so he could help pull him up. The blonde stroked Belle's feathers, then gently nudged her to indicate that she could take flight.
"Hold on tight," Huey instructed, right before Belle took to the air. "Wouldn't want you to fall off."

Esben mulled over the idea of other flavors of candy and potentially exploring them to find one he truly liked. Of course, he was already a fan of this one that reminded him of sweet rolls, but the idea that there might be something even better was enticing.
Still feeling stubborn about the whole affair of putting his pokemon away even for a short time period, he followed Huey outside. Esben’s eyes went wide at the site of Belle, slightly awed at the size of the bird before hunkering down and giving a grumble of a ‘hello’ as he was introduced. He needed to get his own bird someday. He watched as Huey gave a demonstration on how the pokeballs worked and eyed the ones he’d been given before turning to his team.
"A’igh’ you lot. Into these… balls? I guess." He mumbled, before beginning to tap the pokeballs against them as indicated. Neither Byr nor Isi seemed to take kindly to this new experience and only Teeg seemed grateful for the moment. Esben tucked the balls carefully away in the back pouch of his belt, deciding that Flef was small and light enough not to need to be stored away; on top of that the creature would not stop chirping like the world was ending about the whole thing. With that done and Flef under his arm, he took the offered hand and climbed up on Belle as Huey had, adjusting himself in place. He scoffed, puffing his chest out a bit at the remark.
"Pah! Real warriors ain’ afraid to fall!" He commented, before adjusting his hold to try and keep that from happening before they took off for the carnival.

It was strange. Normally Scarlett would have given a legendary more reverence than this, but Niji was a special exception to that rule it seemed. Scarlett didn't know what it was about Niji that she found so grating but he had a special talent for getting on her nerves. She wanted to wipe that smug look off his face, but no matter how hard she hit him, he was still a pokemon. If she really wanted to hurt him, she could dig out Nala's pokeball, but then it just wouldn't be the same as kicking his a** herself. "What kin' I say? Yer face is just so damn punchable." Scarlett scoffed as the rainbow colored pain in her rear expressed his surprise at her second attempt to punch him.
"Well you know what they say about punchable faces," Niji responded breezily, making a mental note to check whether or not he could get this body to waggle its eyebrows sometime he was alone with a mirror. He was happy to keep pace with her as she walked, though he wouldn't put it past her to run off if there was a suitable distraction. Scarlett didn't actually know what people said about punchable faces, but she knew a loaded statement when she heard one, and she wasn't falling for his trap by asking.
She was vaguely interested in finding out how he'd come to get a non-illusory human form, but not enough to put up with his insufferable attitude. "Spare me the act. If anyone were ta know you had that kind of ability, it'd be me." She insisted. At least he finally admitted she was correct, confirming that his human form was new, but that was about as informative as a sack of bricks. She was something of an expert on legend and lore, and since there was no rumors or historical evidence of a suicune having such an ability, she doubted this one could keep it a secret.
After getting the bajeezus scared out of her by a cardboard cutout, Scarlett waved off the suicune's amused question with a glare. "M'fine, yer constant jabbering is making it hard to see the stupid traps they set up in this lame a** haunted house is all." She would give him until she'd made it out of the house to ask questions, since it seemed she was stuck with him for the time being. "Contrary to the apparent popular belief, I'm not a ******** hermit—I daen't spend all day in caves. Interestin' as ruins might be, I've got other things to do, people to see; preferably without being stalked by a rainbow-haired idiot." She sniffed.
"Oh my, living in a cave? Who's saying such terrible things about you?" He eyed her sideways, "And if you'd prefer accompaniment instead of stalking you could have just asked.""A lot of people. None important enough to remember. Just seems to be the easy quip to throw at an archaeologist I guess." She shrugged, feigning how over it she was—read: wasn't."An' I'd prefer you not follow me at all! Take the hint, why daen't ya? The only reason I'm tolerating this insufferable conversation is cause yer gonna tell me how the hell you turned human." Niji just grinned at her demanding words. "Nah." And with that infuriating final word, he exited the haunted house. "Wait, what d'ya mean no?!" Scarlett chased out after him, but Niji was nowhere to be seen.
Unbelievable! Scarlett ground her teeth together and located one of the staff that was providing transports via their ghost pokemon. "Take me to Santalune City." She demanded, her tone anything but friendly. "Y-yes ma'am..." Thankfully before she left, Vandal managed to spot her and ran up before she was teleported out. "Hey, what's the big idea, almost leaving me behind?" Scarlett rolled her eyes. "It wasn't intentional. I've just had a s**t day and there's a lot on my mind, okay?" She sighed. More guilt from Vandal was the last thing she needed. Vandal gave her a hard and long look, but finally shrugged his shoulders. "...Alright." Usually when Scarlett did something with malice, she made damn well sure that the offending party was well aware, so for her to insist it wasn't intentional, he had to believe her even if it was rude.
Scarlett wasted no time heading to the nearby pokemon center and checking out a room for the night, changing out of her costume and flopping into her bed. Was it just her, or did the beds feel more plush in Kalos...? She happily let herself sank into the mattress a few centimeters before pulling out her Xtransciever. Since she was in Kalos, she may as well let her newest contact know.

It wasn't long before Scarlett received a reply from Ashe, a rather welcome one at that.
Text From Ashe: Bonjour, Madame Marquee. Of course, it would be an honor to serve as your guide through the glorious Kalos region. I can be in Santalune by tomorrow; a Kalos breakfast would be an excellent way to start your tour.
Reply to Ashe: Breakfast in Kalos sounds divine. Do you have any restaurant recommendations? I'll meet you there.
With that, Scarlett set her xtransciever down on the nightstand. She could check Ashe's reply tomorrow for a location. In the meantime, she needed to get some damn sleep so 'Natalie Marquee' could be the pleasant and charming persona that Scarlett needed to be, and she couldn't very well do that without a good night's rest. The snug mattress and soft pillows helped, but Scarlett still felt.... Restless. It was a good hour of aggravated tossing and turning before she managed to coerce her body to sleep, but once she had, she slept soundly through the night.
The next morning, Scarlett rose and stretched, feeling a little refreshed. Groggy, but nothing a nice hot shower couldn't fix. After drying her hair, getting dressed, and applying her makeup, she felt satisfied enough to greet the day, checking her Xtransciever for their rendezvous point and plugging it into her map so she could start heading that way. At that point, Vandal began to stir, still illusioned in his zoot suit costume from the night before. He gave a loud yawn and stood. "You're up bright and early. Got a hot date?" He joked. "Somethin' like that." Scarlett chuckled. "You can keep sleepin' if ya want. Take the day off. I'm just going to be meeting someone at a cafe nearby and then taking on the gym, but it's bug type so I figured I'd spare you from the lineup. Meet me in the pokemon center lobby in say, a few hours?" She suggested. "Mighty kind'a ya boss." Vandal tipped his illusory hat. Thank Arceus, he hated bugs. Still, it wasn't like Scarlett not to keep him busy with something. It felt odd, but... Nice. Hopefully it wasn't some kind of trap. For now, he settled back into the couch and closed his eyes, figuring he should take advantage of Scarlett's kindness while it lasted.
With Vandal informed, Scarlett left the center and followed her Xtransceiver's directions to her destination before taking a seat at a table for two and giving the waiter a description of Ashe so that, if spotted, he could be directed her way.

An hour or so of flight and Ashley was touching down in Santalune City just as expected. They plopped down in front of the Pokemon center, as was the usual and he decided to drop his things in a locker for the time being. If he really needed too, he would send Dandy a message to retrieve his things. At least his sniper if it came down to it. He didn’t feel he’d be needing it for the time being and so it was (for now) pointless to continue to carry it around.
He didn’t want some snot-nosed brat attempting to rob him of it again as well. With that settled (he kept his laptop), he checked his phone and tucked it away, unleashing Alphonse and handing him a few of his pokeballs and directing him towards the outskirts of the town as a point where they could train. With that handled, he headed to the cafe. It seemed that Natalie had already arrived as a waiter flagged him down and guided him into the building and to an already occupied table.
"Bonjour Madame Marquee," Ashley spoke up, giving a slight bow as he pulled out the chair and took his seat across from her, a pleasant smile on his face. "It iz a pleasure to see you again. Comment allez-vous ce beau jour?" He inquired of her as he picked up the menu, taking a quick glance at the options briefly before resting his gaze on her again.

Scarlett was browsing her menu when she caught a glimpse of the elegant figure approaching. She glanced up, a smile gracing her features when she saw Ashe. "Monsieur Fontaine~ Également. He was harder for her to read since they hadn't spent much time together yet, but she was certainly interested in learning.
She paused to let him look over the menu, only continuing their conversation once his eyes found hers again. "Were you ever able to get a real vacation after I left?" She asked with a dry yet sympathetic amusement, recalling their conversation in Alola.
Seeing that her company had arrived, their waiter stopped by the table to take drink orders. "Je voudrais de l'eau et du café, le plus fort que vous avez." Scarlett requested. "Crème et sucre?""Non, merci." Scarlett gave the waiter a kind smile, letting them take Ashe's order and moving back to the kitchen to retrieve their drinks.

No sooner had Huey and Esben touched down at the fair did Esben run off, and quickly become lost in the crowd. Huey had tried his best to keep up, but the younger boy had been too fast (and too small) to keep an eye on, and soon Huey found himself in the midst of a sea of costumed-strangers. It wasn't fun. It was nerve-wracking, in fact, and feeling responsible, Huey had spent his time at the fair searching for Esben, it wasn't much of a loss considering he hadn't had much interest in attending the fair in the first place. He didn't succeed, and by the time the fair had announced its closing Huey had reluctantly climbed aboard Belle, he could only hope that Esben had been transported back to Santalune City with the help of a Gastly, or some other pokemon capable of transportation.
But he hadn't. Or, he had and Huey just hadn't found him yet? It was impossible to tell, with how big the city was. But, either way, after a random search of a few streets around the Pokemon Center, Huey's search of Esben had come up empty. Which was stressful, and really worrying, because he'd sort of assigned himself as Esben's guardian, since the kid knew... a worryingly small amount about the modern world, the disadvantage of being apart of the Ambush; though the more he thought about the word, the less certain he became that it was the right term, or even really a word.
With no other leads Huey returned to the Pokemon Center. "Excuse me, the boy I came here with hasn't been here, has he?" he asked Nurse Joy, the same woman who'd been working the counter when he and Esben had first arrived. At least... he thought so, it was hard to tell. "I'm sorry, I haven't seen him," Nurse Joy answered. So she was the same nurse. He nodded, grateful for response, though not the answer. "If you're okay with it," he spoke slowly, walking to a chair and pulling himself into it. "I'm just going to... wait here for a little bit, in case he does show up." That was worth a shot, wasn't it? And it wasn't as if he had anything else to do today.
"That's fine, dear. I'm sure he'll come back here soon," Nurse Joy commented, keeping the optimism of a healthcare provider. Huey nodded, though he couldn't say he shared her optimism. Once seated in his chair, which was much more comfortable than he expected, he leaned back and propped his head with his hand. All that walking around had left him tired, so maybe he'd just... take a little nap. It wouldn't hurt any, just to rest his eyes, and once he'd done that he'd be in perfect shape to keep up the search.
So... he just... needed... five minutes... to himself.
