Azalea was still quite amused over Emmet's entertainment. It would be fun if he continued to respond to all her smart remarks this way. Hours of fun could be had using him like that. Though, the topic took a quick turn from playful ABC's to dissection, though Emmet admitted he wasn't surprised, since Azalea didn't seem to be the type to get disgusted or creeped out by anything. "Bingo." Azalea affirmed dully, playing with one of the cords from her headphones. She gladly elaborated on just how much work she had done concerning studying pokemon, shrugging as Emmet seemed interested in her notes. "Sure." Azalea agreed, not seeing much harm in sharing her studies with a fellow enthusiast. Though, she had to ask just how much of an enthusiast her was, just an admirer, of had he done any sort of research? Apparently it was the latter, which was reassuring. "PH balance, yeah... We should compare notes sometime." She suggested agreeably, looking to Grayson. "Yo Gray, why don't you make yourself useful and give E my number?" She asked with a lazy smirk. She could have written her number down on a napkin or something, but that would have required work on her part, and it was much more amusing to try and convince Gray to do it instead while she stood to go get herself something to eat.

By the time she was finished with responding to Gio, her holocaster started to ring. She immediately picked up, finding that it was her dad, inquiring where she was and how she was doing. The red head had a pleasant conversation with her dad, and he told her to stay put because he had a surprise to send to her from her Gram. Rose waited patiently after the call, just outside the pokecenter. It wasn't long before her dad's Talonflame shot down from the sky, carrying a small package for her. Her Grandparents from Snowbelle had been on a trip to another region she hadn't seen yet, and now they were back and got her some presents. Rose gave the Talonflame a couple of cookies that she had been snacking on earlier, and after a pat on the head, the bird returned to the sky, shooting off with amazing speed.
Rose then opened the small parcel, finding 3 pokeballs. Excited, she quickly arranged her team to put these three new pokeballs into her active party, curious about what she got. She was so eager to see what pokemon she got that she completely forgot about the note that was in the parcel. Fynx picked up the paper before it could get lost, and Rose released all three pokemon at once. And all three of them looked very unfamiliar. "Rrrrufff ruuuu~" "Stuff..." "... where is this place?" There was a cute puppy, an adorable teddy bear looking pokemon, and some weird pokemon that was standing on it's tail, floating in midair. The third seemed a bit confused, and Rose had already made a beeline for the pooch and the bear. "Ooooh! They are sooooo cute!" Rose exclaimed, petting the dog. "Rose, you should read the note, you know..." Fynx told her trainer, but it wasn't enough to get her to stop. "... Rose? ... Rose! Hey! Rose! It's me, Sparx! Remember me?" the floating mouse seemed to catch on to the name of the girl, hopping off of his tail to run over to her, tugging at her arm. "Huh? Sparx... wait, but Sparx was just a pikachu... How can you talk?!?" the red head turned her attention to the rodent in surprise. Before Sparx can speak again, Fynx stopped him right there and thrust the note into Rose's face. "Would you read this already!" Fynx demanded of her trainer. Blinking, the red head took the note from Fynx and started to read it. It was a letter from her grandmother, telling her about the pokemon she saw in alola, and how she thought that Rose would just love the Stufful and Rockruff. She also mentioned how the household pikachu had sneaked into their luggage to come to Alola with them, and went through some kind of odd change while they were there. "Wow, if there are pokemon this cute in Alola, i want to go there!" the red head declared, scooping up the stufful named Meli in her arms. "Stuuuuuuuuuuuuf!" the little bear flailed about in her arms, not liking being held. The Rockruff named Kekoa barked and ran circles around Rose, sniffing everywhere. Sparx gave Rose a concerned look, and looking up at Fynx before returning his gaze to his new trainer. "Um... Rose, Meli really doesn't like to be held. I suggest you put her down before you get hurt." Sparx said, though it sounded a lot more like a timid suggestion. "Huh? OH. I'm sorry Meli! But you are just so cute like my stuffed animals! I couldn't help but give you a biiiiiiiiig hug~" Rose apologized to the stufful, giving her one last squeeze before putting her back on the ground. The Stufful was relieved to be out of her clutches, taking a look around. Kekoa seemed to want a turn, though, jumping up on Rose, tail wagging. "ruuuuuff!" she barked, then Rose stood up with the pup in her arms, getting a face full of licking. Sparx felt a bit left out, but was sure that it was just because Rose was overwhelmed with the cuteness of his companions. After all, once things settled, she'd finally remember him, right? After all, she was the one that found him and brought him to her grandmother's house in the first place when she was a kid. She wasn't allowed to keep him, but every time she visited, they would play together. Sparx felt a bit nervous now that he wasn't the same as when she last saw him, but now he had the ability to communicate, and he had hopes that that would help him get to be even better friends with Rose, too. Especially since now she was a full fledged trainer, with other pokemon of her own.

After giving Meli and Kekoa more than enough attention, Rose returned them to their pokeballs, adding them to her belt. She'd have to go visit her Gram soon to thank her for the gifts. As for Sparx, she left him out with Croconaw and Fynx. "Heh, I should probably head towards the gym soon." Rose commented with a smile, stretching her arms up over her head. Fynx nodded in approval, and they started walking towards the building. Along the way, Rose was looking at her pokedex, reading the information on her new friends. Rockruff was a rock type, and Stufful was a normal/fighting type. Fighting type! Rose didn't think she had one of those yet. It might be really helpful. And then she came to the dex page for Sparx. "Huh... what's a regional variant?" she asked, curious. "I assume it must be a pokemon that is the same species, but is different in a different region... Perhaps like Sparx?" Fynx guessed, eyeing the floating psychic mouse. From what she remembered from some of the books she's read, Pikachus evolved into a different looking kind of rodent than that. At least normally.
Sparx's eyes lit up when he was mentioned, floating on his tail alongside Rose. "Yeah! Like me! Gram said that I must have eaten too many pokebeans and spent too much time in the sun before coming across that thunderstone! I think there were other examples too... Like, there was this fluffy white vulpix that was an Ice type that lived on one of the islands! And the Exeggutor were really tall!" the alolan raichu explained excitedly. "Oh~ That sounds so neat! Let's go to Alola right now!" Rose declared, already reaching around in her bag to find Auriel's ball. "No. I know it sounds fun, but you've already committed to training more. How about you get a few more badges first, then we can see about visiting Alola for ourselves?" Fynx stopped her trainer. Rose seemed disappointed, but sighed and gave a nod. "It's a really fun trip to look forward to, Rose~ It'll feel even better after working hard!" Sparx chimed in happily. His comment cheered rose up even more, and she quickened her pace towards the gym.
Just before she could walk through the doors, her holocaster went off. Rose checked it immediately, excited to see that it was Marx! She wasted no time in opening the message, reading it and viewing the attached photo. Rose squealed at the picture. It was so much more cute than her Chifaera! It was so small and fluffy! After gushing over the adorable pokemon in the picture, she got to replying to Marx.

With the text sent and her device put away, Rose was finally ready to challenge the gym leader. She pushed through the doors of the gym, entering and looking around. There wasn't any elaborate decoration, nor was there really a maze to work through to get to the gym leader. It was quite a change from the gyms she'd seen thus far in her adventures. "Hello! I'd like to challenge this Gym's leader, please!" Rose declared, Fynx and Sparx slightly behind her while Croconaw stood by her feet. "Challenge accepted, miss. I'm Brock, the gym leader here." The leader approached, and soon after, the battle started. Brock sent out Geodude, and Rose sent out her Flurry, Rye. Rye was surprised to find himself suddenly in battle, but eagerly awaited instruction, shivering in anticipation. "Hmm... Use... Powder Snow!" Rose told Rye, having to look through her pokedex information to figure out what moves that Rye knew. She wasn't very familiar with it, after all. Rye obliged, hitting the geodude pretty hard with a gust of snow. The Geodude shook off the snow afterwards, then grabbed a rock and threw it at Rye. Rose winced as Rye was hit hard by the rock throw attack. "Are you okay, Rye? Hang in there and use Powder Snow again!" the red head was concerned for the little flurry, but it seemed to pull through and knock out the geodude with another snowy attack. As Geodude was returned, Rose returned Rye too, not wanting him to get hurt further. Brock sent out Onix as she sent Croconaw forward into battle. "Let's use an Aqua Tail!" Rose instructed. The gator charged forward and slammed the large rock snake hard with the watery tail attack. It was a really hard hit, but Onix still managed to hold on. Onix then took this chance to slow the gator down, slamming him with rocks twice in a row. Rose wasn't really sure what to do with her pokemon buried under a pile of rocks, but the water type came up with a solution all on his own, blasting through the mound and landing an ice punch on Onix. The rock snake fell, and the battle was over.

Brock was certainly taken aback by this young challenger. "You certainly came prepared." He voiced, giving a curt nod before approaching the red-head. She was pretty cute, he'd give her that. "Anyway, you earned these. Good luck on your future challenges." With a quick search of his various pockets, the rock-type leader handed out the Tm and badge of his gym before heading into the back to heal up his Pokemon to prepare for the next hopeful trainer that passed through those doors.

Elijah was looking around, and wandering aimlessly about the town. That was until he saw the Pokemon centre. He sighed, picking up his Bulbasaur and heading towards it. "Hey pal, I guess you really deserve some TLC after dragging me out of that place!" He said, caressing the bulb on his Pokemon's back.
The teen stepped into the building and sat down, sighing as he held Bacchus with him. "I"m so lucky to have gotten you from oak, buddy. Really. Otherwise I would've died in there." He hugged his Bulbasaur, who responded with a nonchalant huff. "So let's chill here for a bit where nobody will hurt us!"

Rose was more than happy to be the winner of the battle, receiving her badge and a TM. "Thank you~" she smiled, then turned and ran off and out of the gym, scooping up the injured Croconaw. Gosh, he was heavier than she had expected! After exiting the gym, she made her way towards the pokemon center, petting the Croconaw as she remembered she was trying to think of a good name for him. "You did very good! Let me try and think of a good name for you." she told the gator. The reptile wasn't used to such treatment, wriggling in her arms a bit as she pondered over a name. After muttering a few choices, Rose finally found a nickname she liked the sound of for the Croconaw. "Spike! I think I'll call you that. Do you like that name?" Rose finally announced, questioning the gator. He didn't quite know why, but hearing that he had a name now made him feel kind of ... fuzzy and warm. It was pleasant. "Croc~" he replied, no objections to the name. "Heheh~ Good job in that battle, Spike! Let's get you healed up." she smiled, then entered the pokemon center. She went right for the counter, Fynx and Sparx both tailing her. Rose handed Spike over to the nurse behind the counter for healing before also handing over Rye's pokeball.

Azalea gave Gray a smug look as he asked sarcastically if he was her secretary, but then did as he was asked anyways. The fact that he complied with her request spoke for itself, and Azalea didn't say anything, feeling that her point was made. As Emmet added her number though, he noticed that it was getting late, and suggested that they get a room for the night. They, beig Emmet and Gray. Azalea was a bit amused at the suggestion, knowing Gray. "You might try to get to know your clients better before making outlandish suggestions like an early night." Azalea suggested vaguely, adjusting her headphones and standing. She wouldn't go off and reveal Gray's history, that was Gray's business and she would leave it to him how much he wanted to tell Emmet. The fact that he was an insomniac would have been a nice tip off from Void at least. Still, Gray accepted Emmet's suggestion even though he'd given the other male an odd look.
Then of course, he had to pretend like Azalea would be helpless with him leaving her again. "I'm gonna kick a** and take names, what else?" Azalea sneered. "After I'm done mopping the floor with Brock, then I've got some other little punk to pound in Sinnoh." She mused, mussing Gray's hair. "Try to think of our couch and get some sleep Gray." She suggested, and with that, she returned Hyacinth and Arum to their pokeballs, picked up Rafflesia, and started making her way out of the cafeteria. "Catch you on the flip side, nerds." She said lazily, and stepped out into the main hall of the center.
She would have left there and then, but Rafflesia suddenly started wiggling in her arms. "Hm...? Whats up Raf?" Azalea asked curiously. This was certainly odd behavior from her. She'd been a lazy sack of potatoes pretty much ever since she'd stolen her from Oak, so to actually see her making an effort to move was a surprise. Setting the bulbasaur down, Azalea watched as Rafflesia waddled over to a young man with another bulbasaur in his arms, and curious, Azalea followed her. "Buuuuulbasaur...." She greeted the male bulbasaur lazily. "You know this chump?" Azalea asked, quirking a brow and sticking her hands in her pockets as she looked over Eli and his starter. "No offense. 'Least you have style, I can dig that." She said in an aside to Eli. "I guess my bulbasaur knows yours or something. Are you fresh meat from Oaks or something?" She asked. That would make sense if Rafflesia knew his bulbasaur, since lab pokemon tended to be at least somewhat familiar with one another.
► Fremy quickly bored of the mediocre job requests posted for the Pewter area and Nothing was worth the risk to reward. Moreover, it was all grunt work, far benefit her skill range now. Maybe a few years back when she was still a greenhorn she'd have taken up one of two but not anymore. It simply wasn't cost effective. The point of her research was to find information pertaining to the Crystal shards and how they interacted with secondary objects. A question had lingered at the edges of her thoughts since the "Client" had performed his "magic trick" on her Bulbasaur turning the ordinary green grass-type into a vibrate blend of creamy pinks and purples. Could she repeat the process on another Pokemon using a similar process?
After a considerable amount of research, Fremy stumbled upon a research paper written by a Professor from the Alola region who specialized in the botany of Grass Pokemon. She'd speculated that due to the Alolan Exeggutor's connecting to the Dragon palm tree's that only grew in that part of the world that it might be possible to alter the genetic makeup or more likely the physical appearance and characteristic's of a Pokemon. Her work pointed to the Crystal shards as the most likely catalyst to trigger a rapid change but she was never able to prove her theory. "Well someone finished your work." Fremy muttered finishing the last footnotes given. Most were untested experiments she'd intended to embark upon but was never able to. No reason why was given. Most notably was an experiment involving Nightshade and Paras. It hinged on a slight collecting the two had that involved a neurotoxin that attacked the body's ability to regulate the electrical signals from the brain to the organs. "Well, i suppose we can afford to play mad scientist for a while." She remarked turning the PC off.
Fremy spent the next two hours searching the fields and foothill around Pewter city for a single flower, even just a wilting bud or steam might do the trick. Getting the Crystal shard was the easy part. With her finances, she could afford to splurge on this one thing. Besides, even if it was a lost cause Crystal shards where renounced for the drastic alteration they caused in a Pokemon's coloration. Adding another hyper rare Pokemon to her personal collection wasn't a drawback. It actually reinforced her ability to outperform the competition by showcasing her spoils. When finally she found the plant n question it had only a single flower left. The coming winter cold was killing off the vegetation so it was a wonder one even remained this vibrant if at all. Cutting the flower to have as long a steam as she could Fremy made her way back to the center. No point hiding away out in the cold when she could just as easily take up a quick spot in the Pokemon center ad be harm.
"Alright let's see what we get." Fremy said having taken a table off in the corner of the Pokemon center's lobby. The Nurse Joy was in the back tending to injured Pokemon and very few people remained to bother her IF any did at all. Fremy knew she would only have one shot at this so she took care to repeat everything the "Client" had done before. Paras sat on the table, the clipping of Nightshade balancing atop its mushrooms with the flowers wilting puddles resting more on the fungus then its actual body. "Here goes nothing." She sat quickly pressing the rainbow colored crystal into the Pokemon and flower. Suddenly a deep blue light erupted and engulfed the Pokemon and her hand. It took only a second or more before the light faded away revealing the change. The flower was gone, turned to dusk as it was infused into the Pokemon. It's normally orange body was now black and its mushrooms a deep rich blue and light blue spotting. It worked!? Fremy gasped in the realization of what she'd just done. She'd officially proven the professor's theory. But that meant the "Client" most have known of this too. Fremy's mind races with questions.

Entering the familiar city Misa had an agenda to meet. She had to go looking for clues on the whereabouts of the Soft Sand that she found here. By being able to give her Pokemon this item she hoped it could help them in the upcoming battle with Lt. Surge. There was still a ways till then so in the meantime she could just enjoy the view of the city like last time. At least she wasn’t looking for anything pink. As far as she sa there was no need for any battles with Wild Pokemon.

Misa had to go back to the bulletin board to look for the locations or at least hints for the soft sand. Precisely, she needed two more for the sake of getting an edge on the battle. Soft Sand would boost Ground-type attacks which were going to be super effective on Lt. Surges’ Electric Pokemon. Since Dugtrio, Sandshrew and Geodude were all types that would nullify Electric moves it meant she was going to have a steady battle. Though she wouldn’t have the level advantage like she had last time.

If the book was true that meant Lt. Surges’ Pokemon would be more difficult to take down. The Pokemon he used were a Raichu, Pikachu and a Voltorb. Misa was already accustomed to Pikachu and she felt like she could take on its evolved form, the only outlier was Voltorb. Misa had yet to fight a battle with a Voltorb before and didn’t know the extent of its ability. The girl would probably have to read more about the Gym Leader when she got a chance.
