Brian would find Lykas and Odd entertain by the kitchen about the same time as him. “You’re the one that joined the team as we were entering the tournament in Galar, right?” Lykas asked, curious.

“Brian, wasn’t it?” Odd added, remembering that he had been on the Isle of Armor with Deo and someone else when that weird Channeler that had given such awful flashbacks had showed up. He was fairly certain it had been Brian but those events were a bit muddled in his memories due to the trauma response.

“I haven’t seen you around recently, I don’t think. Everything alright?” The Jellicent hybrid hadn’t seen Brian in Mauville on the team’s recent mission there and knew very little about him so far so this was a welcome chance to do a proper meet and greet with the newer member.

Brian was about to start fixing something to eat when he heard someone speaking to him, and he turned to see Lykas and Odd standing there. "Yes, that's right," he said, nodding in response to Lykas' question. "If I'm not mistaken, it's Lykas and Odd, right?" He offered a smile and a nod when Odd remembered his name. Lykas' next question had him nodding. "I'm doing well," he said. "I hadn't seen my parents for a while, so I stopped by after we got done in Mauville. That's where I snagged my newest team member, Grace, a shiny Shadow Ralts."

As he was speaking, he was setting out bowls of food for his Pokemon, leaving Lu, Firebrand, and Sparx to eat. He didn't let Grace out just yet, wanting to spend time with her one-on-one. Once the Pokemon were situated, he turned back to Lykas and Odd. "Would either of ye happen to know anyone that's skilled at tracking people down?" he asked. "I've been looking for a friend of mine for a few years now, but I've not had any luck on my own."

Lykas nodded along as Brian replied to him and Odd, though he paused for a moment when the other trainer mentioned being in Mauville. “Huh… I didn’t see you there. I must have missed you since I got there a bit late.” He thought aloud. “Nice to see more Ralts around here. I’m sure Gardy will initiate them into the coven eventually,. Once you manage to purify it, at least. “ he laughed.

“Are we supposed to know about that?” Odd asked of his partner, chuckling softly as he shook his head.

“Probably not but they aren’t great at hiding it.” Lykas replied with a laugh of his own, thought the laugh was a bit short when Brian spoke up again, asking about someone who could track people down. “Honestly… Sub’s probably the best person I can think of for finding people. He’s got an uncanny knack for finding people who don’t want to be found so I’m sure he could find someone who’s just missing if he tried.” The hybrid responded.

“Wren might be able to help, too. He’s a business owner from Unova and he’s got a wide network of contacts that spans large chunks of the world. As far as I know, he has customers and other contacts in every region.” Odd added. “Beyond the two of them, I couldn’t specify one person that would be able to.”

“What about Arkelos?” Lykas thought aloud. “He’s a specialist trainer but his Pokémon are literally built for tracking. I just haven’t seen him around lately… he probably wouldn’t be a good one to go looking for right now… My guess is he’s on a mission that’s taking a while.”

Brian wasn't really surprised that Lykas hadn't seen him. "I spent most of it in the food court, fending off Grace's former trainer and trying to stop a few other Shadow Pokemon with Sub and a few others," he said. Hearing something about a coven had him looking at Lykas curiously. "There's a coven here?" he asked. This was the first he'd heard of it. What else happened at HQ that he didn't know about? He listened as his question was answered, suggesting three different people to try and talk to.

"Sub would probably be the first one I'd go to," he said, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "I'll probably talk to Wren, too, just in case. My friend is from Hoenn, like me, though I think the last region she was going to was Kalos, from what I remember. Wish I knew where she was going after that."

The lack of food was a problem in and of itself. And Sub was already borderline underweight anyhow for someone of his height. Was that contributing to his lethargy? It was possible, but that was not definitive. There still wasn't anywhere enough information to go on. And he was not in the field where he could discern if there was any psychological reason to contribute to anything. "Sub, I suppose the most I could do for you is run a few tests to see if there is anything out of the ordinary. Based as to what you have told me, it could be any number of things." he stated. "Is there honestly nothing else you can tell me?"

Sub thought about that last question for awhile. Was there anything else he could tell him? He had no more secrets to keep so this wasn't a case of that, he legitimately couldn't think of anything else that stood out. Doc Owl was perhaps one of the few people he wouldn't lie to any ways, not when it's his own health is concerned. "I'm sorry, I can't think of anything else. I'm just as stumped as you are." He answered the doctor. He then rose up slightly with both hands, supporting himself with his dominate hand and arm while using the other to adjust his pillow and laid back down, a grimace on his face once he was at rest again.

"Doc, remind me to order you some new pillows for down here. These things are uncomfortable." He commented, then looking at the blanket. It was an okay blanket, nothing great, could be better. "Blankets too." He grinned, however his smile faded soon. "So what kind of tests you got in mind? Need some blood? Just know I am slightly afraid of needles. I can tough it out, just can't look, and don't do the on the count of three thing, makes it worse."

"Oh, you were in that battle in the food court? I couldn't see who it was battling when I got there and everything went to hell in a handbasket so fast that I didn't really pay much attention to the battle before then." Lykas remarked, trying to think back to the recent events as they happened.

He chuckled softly when Brian asked about the coven. "Yeah, sort of. 'The Emerald Coven', it's called. It's a sort of club Sub's Gardevoir started up for other Gardevoir in the team to join. I don't know what they do when they meet up or where they go but Gardy thinks it's a secret so we usually don't say anything to her about it. We only know because mine's a member of it and he's not great at keeping secrets either." He explained with another small laugh.

"You'll most likely find Wren in the garden on the mountainside. I don't know why but he seems to like hanging out with Lum. If he's not there, he's either in the kitchen getting food or he's not here and you'll have to call him on your SNAG. He does seem to be pretty busy with his business so he's not always here." Odd added, trying to recall if he had seen Wren recently.

Amber lay on the bed in her room, staring at the ceiling. Her mind was going over everything that had happened since she'd joined Snagem. It was about two years after Lily's passing that she joined up with the team, and she had no regrets about doing so. She knew that Lily would have done the same, had she been given the chance. Thinking back to just a few days before, she remembered how her father had reacted when he'd seen her for the first time after she'd become a hybrid. Her father, James, hadn't recognize her at first. Once she revealed who she was and why she was there, James asked her what she'd been doing since they'd last seen each other. She told him she'd been staying with friends for most of the time, which wasn't exactly a lie, though she didn't say that she was part of Team Snagem.

She let him meet most of her team, leaving Sander in his Pokeball. She had no idea if her father knew anything about Shadow Pokemon, but if he didn't, he needed to know. She'd asked about it, and he said yes, he'd heard of them, but had never actually encountered one before. Honestly, he hoped he never would, but of course, not everyone got what they wanted. She knew her father worried about her, and she didn't tell him that she'd already come in contact with various Shadow Pokemon, not wanting him to worry any more than he already did. Instead, she told him how she'd managed to capture the rest of her team, including how she and Spooky had met. To her mild surprise, the Shuppet was oddly well-behaved while visiting with James, apparently sensing that he was someone that meant a lot to her.

After her visit, she'd gone to the cemetery to visit her mother and Lily's graves for a few minutes before returning to HQ. She knew she needed to get back and see what was going on, but the place had been mostly empty when she'd returned, so she'd gone to give her Pokemon some exercise and spend some time with them, especially Sander. She knew that positive emotions sometimes helped Pokemon that were infected with the Shadow virus, so she wanted to spend as much time as she could with him to speed up the purification process. Now, however, she wanted nothing more than to curl up and sleep, but something was keeping her awake. She had to wonder how her friend, Brian, was doing. He'd been Lily's best friend when they were younger, and her passing had hit him hard. She hadn't seen him since just after the funeral, and she wondered what he was doing now.

While walking back to her room, Monique noticed that the door was open to another room in the hall. She looked inside and found someone lying on the bed, relaxing. They had a hybrid appearance with pale white skin and blue, icy-looking protrusions.

Froslass. Ice/Ghost. The Snow Land Pokémon. It freezes foes with an icy breath...

"Excuse me?" Monique softly whispered, hoping they weren't sleeping. "Did you mean to have this door open?"

Requiem of Whispers

Brian nodded with a smile when Lykas spoke. "Yeah, it went to hell pretty quickly after I snagged Grace," he said. "Had a Zangoose and a Seviper both turn up as Shadows right after, so we had our hands pretty full dealing with them." He tilted his head a bit at the explanation of the coven and how it had been formed. "Hmm, that actually sounds pretty interesting," he said. "I'm sure Grace would love to have a place among her own kind, once she's purified." He fell silent for a moment, thinking about how he was going to purify the shiny Ralts, then looked at Odd as the other man spoke.

"Wait, we have a garden?" he said, surprised. Again, this was the first he'd heard of it. He'd have to make a point of exploring the HQ a little more, maybe the mountain around it, as well. "I'll have to check it out, see if he's there," he said. "Who knows, maybe my friend's come across someone from Snagem before and I just don't know it yet."

----------------------------------

Amber's thoughts were broken by a whispered voice at the doorway to her room, and she looked at the door to see someone she'd not seen before. "Yeah, I leave it open every now and then so my Pokemon can come and go as they please," she said, sitting up and beckoning to the newcomer. "My name is Amber. I don't believe I've seen you around here before."

Lykas nodded, recalling how it had gone downhill from the moment he'd gotten to the food court with Terashi and Monique. At the question of the garden, he nodded more vigorously. "Actually, yeah. Snagem HQ is designed to be as self-sufficient as possible in order to stay off the grid. We weren't exactly a 'legal' organization until very recently." he explained. "It's why we have our own custom currency and shops that only accept it."

"Lum is a genius botanist and horticulturist so he raises a huge garden of all the essentials and most varieties of berries to keep us supplied with everything we could need as far as plants go." Odd added. "And it honestly wouldn't surprise me. We have a lot of members who are sort of like permanent field agents that don't stay at HQ but are in regular contact with Sub or GRAY to keep them up to date on things going on around the world. I'm pretty sure Trish went back to Lumiose City after the revolution?"

"I think you're right. Pretty sure Clare said they ran into her when they went to find a job." Lykas responded more as an offhand comment than anything directed at Odd or Brian.

Requiem of Whispers

Brian listened intently to Lykas' words about the garden, and he realized that there was a lot he didn't know about Snagem. That would have to be rectified, and soon. "I guess there's still a lot I don't know about Snagem," he said. "Are there any other interesting places around here?" Having their own garden, especially one that produced various berries, would save him time buying anything he needed when he wanted to cook. Hmm, he'd definitely have to talk to some of the other members to see if they'd met Amber. "The revolution?" he echoed, a little confused. "What's that?"

----------------------------------

Amber gave a small smile when Monique introduced herself. "Likewise, Monique," she said. When the other woman mentioned something about not being around Snagem, or this world, for long, she tilted her head a bit. "I'm guessing you're a Faller, then?" she said. If that was the case, then Monique was the first Faller she'd met, even though she'd heard of them before. When asked about her Pokemon, she couldn't help smiling. "Bubbles, my Froakie, Arauth, my Misdreavus, Gary, my Omanyte, Tyrace, my Froslass and the reason I'm a hybrid now, Sander, the Shadow Delcatty I snagged a few days ago, and Spooky, my Shuppet," she said. "Most of them are roaming around the HQ, but Sander is in his ball right now because I don't want him accidentally infecting any other Pokemon. Spooky is always with me, and is actually floating right above you."

Said Shuppet was, indeed, floating above Monique, though for once, he wasn't threatening to attack. Perhaps it's because he could tell she was a hybrid, as well. Either way, he was curious about this newcomer. "Due to how we met, Spooky is one of my more protective Pokemon," Amber said. "Usually, when he meets new people, he threatens to throw a Shadow Ball at them, but he's not doing that now."

“A blood draw would be a start. A CT scan for that matter. ECG and EEG. Pulmonary function tests. None of them that would take all that long to perform, well except for the blood draw. Getting the sample only takes mere seconds. Results, not so much because there’s a whole number of criteria to go through. Nonetheless, if anything comes up with one or multiple tests, it’d give me more to look at if needed.” Doc explained to the Snagem leader.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found my way back to the bedroom with Freth, still not thrilled about what happened earlier. Freth would close the door and started her way in front of the dresser, leaning on it as I stood near the door, arms crossed looking at her. Frankly, I had to admit I wasn’t really looking for this. This could go a whole number of ways, I figure. “Blizzard, I need to know something right now.” Freth spoke up. “Do you not trust me?” she asked.

“Okay…I’m going to need context.” I said, eyes narrowing. On any other sort of occasion I’d probably would have just outright said I did, but considering that who knows what this hunter has been telling her or doing, I sooner feel as if I was walking into something.

“Context? The hell? It’s a simple question!” she replied.

“There’d be reason why you’d be asking me this just right out of the blue.” I said.

“Blizzard, for a long while, you have been taking it upon yourself to put more on you for whatever reason instead of letting someone else to pick up some slack.” She said.

“Is this something that harpy has been telling you?”

“Blizzard, you know good and well I have been complaining about that about you for a long time now. How I keep telling you that you’re not Superman, that you are just one hybrid.”

“What is this have to do about trusting you?”

“Its not just about trusting me; its about anyone else. Tristen, Sol, Reno, maybe one of the new guys like Deo or Brian, guys that are part of this team just as you are. You go out of your way to take on more than what you should be handling and every time you try, it bites you. You go out of your way, try to train to be that bit stronger, that bit faster, that bit sharper, but what has it accomplished?”

“Are you honestly starting to agree with her now?” I then asked.

“No! Listen! That crazy woman was out to kill you just so she could have a home to come to because she thought you were going to ice the world. I really don’t give a crap about her; she got what was coming to her.”

“And here I thought we were getting along.” The hunter snarked from the reaches of Freth’s mind once more.

“But what I have a concern is the reasons why you do go out of your way, punish yourself, then repeat the process all over again. Like now. The hunter beat the hell out of you, you get upset, then you’re now chomping at the bits to have back at it yourself in the training room as soon as you’re completely better. And for what? Why the hurry?”

“So I can be ready for whatever happens next.”

“Blizzard, you weren’t ready for her. And worse, you talked about trying to protect others close to you and Pryce is one of those people, but guess what, you were half-way around the world when she got to him, and you didn’t even know it. How about this, before he got attacked, did you think your teacher could handle himself? How about now that he had knowing what happened to him?” Freth then asked. “Do you trust him to defend himself the next time something like this happens?”

“What’s the point?” I’d then ask.

“The point is that you don’t seem to have any faith in anyone to hold their own when it comes to it and for whatever reason, if anyone does, you try to shoulder blame for not being where it mattered. I think you mentioned that Pryce himself mentioned that to you at one time a while back ago. And you still haven’t taken it to heart. Its why Tristen got upset with you in the tournament, its why I’m a bit pissed at you right now for getting upset about me handling this woman how I need to.” Freth said.

“Tristen is one thing and I admit I screwed up on that! You on the other hand is a whole other matter! We’re talking about someone that, as far as I know, still has a chance of making me lose you!”

“And maybe so. But again, I ask, what were you going to do about it? And would I be a prisoner here until that time?” she asked. “Even if I had told you the very moment when I found out she was around, the very moment. Would I have still been able to start trying to find ways to deal with her or was I going to sit in this bedroom or worse, perhaps being put in a cell as a just in case measure she did manage to take me over after the fact, twiddling my thumbs, while you tried to find every stereotypical thing out there to get her out.” She asked. “So I will ask again: do you not trust me?”

“You know good and well that I do.” I said.

“I doubt that.” The hunter said.

“What about Pryce or Tristen? Those in Snagem? Those not?” Freth asked. “If pushed, could you let something go if things do go south? Say something like what happened back at Realgam for example. Could you still focus on the task at hand? Could you let go afterwards? Can you understand that you can’t be everywhere at once and you only can deal with so much?” I couldn’t look Freth in the eye at that point. I honestly couldn’t say. I remember how I felt back at Realgam Tower…or hell, in the wild area when the hunter confessed she took Pryce out in her hunt to look for me. I was so enraged, and yet so absurdly focused that nothing else mattered other than my target’s demise. A severe case of tunnel vision. After a moment of not saying a word, she broke the silence once more. “What is it, Blizzard?”

“I can’t bring myself to say any yes or no on anything like that.”

“Why not?”

“Freth, I am freakin’ terrified of the prospect of anything like that.” I said. “I faced it once twice already and it never got any better. The hunter only served to do nothing more than to show I still have too far to go to rest on my laurels now.”

“And yet you’re in a group where you find time and again that is a harsh reality.” Freth said.

“I’m a part of this so I can find the means to stop things like that, or at least severely mitigated so I wouldn’t have to worry about it as much, let alone you and Tristen for instance.” I said. “And if anything starts happening close to anyone else, others that perhaps can’t, I can be the one that can handle it quick. I cannot sit idly by knowing that if something that I could possibly handle is well…not, then I’m just as much to blame as who or whatever caused the situation to begin with.”

“A lot of good that has done you so far, hasn’t it?” Freth said. “And its not completely true, either.” Freth would walk over, placing her hands on my shoulders, leading me over to the bed and had me sit down on it. “Blizzard, ‘age quid ferat’.”

“Ag-wha?” I had to wince for a moment, thinking back for a few seconds. It was…Latin, I think? Foreign Languages was something I was never versed that well. A phrase or two here and there, common stuff for the most part. Though this was something that took a bit to figure out. “Uh…’come what may’?”

“That’s right. Blizzard, as much as you try to go out of your way to be there, you can’t. As much as you try to prepare for tomorrow, tomorrow at times will still get the better of you because you can’t prepare for everything. We’ve been over this, but now is the time for you to start getting on that mindset before it starts getting worse for you. Even if you don’t ice the world like she thinks, its bound to piss a lot of people off despite your better intentions. They don’t need to be coddled. They’re better than that. We’re better than that. And I’m going to try to get better still, starting with trying to get working what this hunter unfortunately put on me. But I need you to let everyone to be better instead of you having to go full superhero all the time and then you being overly hard on yourself when it blows up in your face.”

“…I…don’t know…it’s just-“

“Blizzard, it doesn’t matter. I know, the whole ‘good man who does nothing’ bit, I know you care that much, but as you put it to Aden and Tristen, time and place. Right?” she said. “Everyone in the team got their roles, let them do it, they don’t need you to do it for them. If anything wrong happens while your off doing your thing, then it happens. Let it go, move on. Finish what you started. If she takes me over, it doesn’t matter, you do what is more important overall, not just to you. I need you to promise me.”

“…alright.”

“I’m serious, Blizzard. Don’t just ‘alright’ and go on business as usual. I need you to understand that there are those, me and Tristen especially, that would like to see an Articuno hybrid that’s not going to end up crippled or worse just because he decided to take on the world on his own and that we will also do what we can to see to it. Like I said, I am going to try to get started seeing what I am capable of now and I need you to let me do it in my own way. I also understand that I’m not going to be able to solve the world’s problems on my own either, but I will do what I can with what I have. We all do.” She said. “I’m trusting you on this. Alright?”

There was a longer silence out of me, a deep sigh. “Alright. Yea, I promise…I will also bring up that there…are going to be stumbles, because habits die hard. But I will do what I can…”

“Make sure they’re not often.”

“You have got to be kidding me.” The hunter spoke up. “This is your whole master plan? Don’t train as hard, let me do some instead? You idiot, he is-“

“I was enjoying the quiet without you.” Freth said, which garnered a reaction out of me. “Not you. She’s not liking where this conversation lead.” Freth started to make her way back to the dresser, looking at the mirror, the hunter with the piercing blue glowing eyes was glaring at Freth.

“I would say not! You can’t honestly make me believe that just because you told him to ease off that he’s just going to bend over backwards just for you like that. The guy is completely psychotic! I don’t even understand how you are able to live with him! He’s got too much of a superhero complex to even do that! It was practically groomed into him and tempered for years, as far back even before Snagem! Hell, coming to thinking about it, you even contributed to it back in your criminal hayday! This isn’t some kids show on public television! A few words aren’t going to just make everything better!”

“You done?” Freth asked, crossing her arms. “This entire time all I hear out of you is how he needs to die and how nothing is your fault. I told you before, he was ready to call it quits around the time the tournament ended, but you had to show up, put his face in the dirt, and as a result, found himself still needing to get stronger because you gave him another benchmark to overcome.”

“If it wasn’t going to be from me, it more than likely would have been by something else, then something after that, then something even after that. But it didn’t matter because I would have taken him out when I got there and didn’t get interrupted.” She said.

“A simple warning couldn’t suffice? Oh, he just had to die. Boy, how did it just get so easy to get up and decide ‘Oh, this guy is on the chopping block’ for someone like you?” she asked. “Hell, you were even suggesting to do that to the ring leader of the shadow Pokémon operation in Trainer Hill. Does it give you a thrill? I mean, what value does empathy have nowadays, huh?”

“You know nothing.” The hunter growled out to her.

“Maybe. Except the fact that as far as I am concerned? You’ve lost. I’m not going to do anything to him; the only thing I can right now is clean up your mess.” She leaves the mirror, walking back over to me with the most bewildered look on my face. “What?”

“This still sucks only getting one side of this conversation.” I said.

“Don’t worry about her. We’ll get over this together, okay?” she said, sitting down on the bed as well, then we both laid back on it. Freth noticed for only a brief second as she laid back the hunter was still on the mirror, glaring at her and what was supposed to be her quarry. The hunter was resigned that her words was going to fall on deaf ears. All she could do now…was wait.

Reno Vantas

"I mean, I assumed bringing one along would be a bad idea," Aden replied, having already made a mental note to not bring his Ampharos or Scyther along. "Maybe if one of us had an Immunizer, but it'd still be too risky for my liking. Anyways..."

Upon seeing the hoverbike pictures, he could see a point in why "Hoverbike Time" was so important to Reno. "Nah, you know what? Fair enough," he conceded. "And you mean Devon, right? I can understand the hesitance, but the only other option seems to be that council or whatever and I've already gotten the idea that they'd both be less keen on it and have more corporate red tape. And they might want to take us in for supposedly harboring a reality-wide threat, if the hunter wasn't toying with us. I'd rather take our chances with Isaac and Devon."

[Three days after the battle against Stakataka.]

Sub was still feeling pretty sore since their encounter with Stakataka in the Silver Labyrinth, when he was on the receiving end of a very pink and very violent explosion. He was fortunately he wasn't harmed more than he already was, Ulalume breaking his fall the best she could, leaving him with just a lot of bruising, a small fracture in his left arm and two broken fingers on the hand of the same arm. His left arm was in a sling and his fingers splinted, both of which Sub insisted he didn't need but Doc Owl forced upon him with a little help from Orderly's presence. The arm and hand didn't bother him too much, the part that hurt the most was his back, heavily bruised but fortunately structurally fine.

After making his way into the common room he sat down on the couch, letting out a groan. Taking out his SNAG he tapped on the screen with his thumb a few times and tossed it on the coffee table in front of him, a holographic display of a microphone appearing from the device. "All available Snagems please report to the common room as soon as possible." He said aloud, the SNAG picking up his voice and broadcasting it through the speakers dotting HQ for all in the building to hear.

With his announcement made he leaned forward and tapped the screen once more to turn off the microphone function, the holographic display disappearing. Leaning back on the couch he caught a glimpse of Larrimore entering the building from the front door. Without turning his head to look in his direction, perhaps feeling too comfortable to move, he waved at the Pinsir hybrid who gave him a small nod and found a place to stand off to the side of the couch as he waited for the others, Larrimore himself having known of this meeting before the announcement.

Darts makes his way to the common room, having been part of the initial push to find Sub in his office earlier but not proceeding further, he can't help but remark: "Oh good, they found you." He mostly ignores Sub's wounds, figuring they were the leader's own business. Even if they were life-threatening Darts doubted the tough-as-nails field commander of Snagem would ever show it. If he was here calling a meeting he was well enough to command, in the hybrid's opinion.

The Giratina hybrid makes himself comfortable against a nearby wall and waits for the rest of the team to filter in, his jacket lightly flicking back and forth around his ankles as he does. Since returning from his trip to The Village of Dragons, he had been a bit restless. He had had quite a few things to think about, but a small excursion with Cera and a slot machine had kept him occupied for the moment. He felt good, focused, and ready to get back to active rotation with the main team.
