Japan is a beautiful country! Everyone who is even considering going should go, definitely. I'm from Illinois (flat as a pancake), so I was in love with all the mountains... GORGEOUS. You don't need to know much of the language to get by, and I found the people to be very understanding and kind. The only bad thing is that most things are expensive, and you pretty much have to like seafood! Maybe it was just me, but even the tea tasted like fish. surprised
Mmmm, the only other thing I have to say is... feed the monkeys! DO IT!! mrgreen

I guess if you like fish, then maybe you won't mind fish flavoured tea! I would love to go someday. I am studying Japanese so that I can speak it when I get there, or at least understand people!

Only been to Kyoto on a stopover - visiting friends who came from Tokyo to meet up. But enjoyed my little view of the town that I did see. Am especially fond of the heated underside of the tables and the food. And so very clean. What a change from China where I was living at the time!
Would love to go visit for real - but, alas, don't know I'll ever have the money. crying

I spent two weeks there last year - something like four days seeing Kyoto and Hiroshima and the rest in Kagoshima City and Satsuma Sendai. I really desperately miss it and I fully intend to go back for a much longer period of time; preferably after I've learned and retained more Japanese than I did the first time.

Thats nice, I don't want to go to Japan it seems crowded, but the countryside is really nice. Haha I just noticed your siggy lol my sister made it.

I've never been there, but I plan to go there some day. I plan to apply for the JET programme after I graduate. Think I'll do my masters in Japan, depending how things go.

Y'know what I just realized? Japan is ridiculously clean (at least everywhere I've been)... and the strange thing about it is, I could almost never find a single garbage can. While here in Ontario/Toronto, there's garbage all over the place and yet a million garbage cans to go along with it. I don't get how that works sweatdrop
