On firearms...I agree with the hicks.
Go back to 9/11 the excuse for this whole fiasco, if, when the terrorists tried to take over, a citizen with a concealed weapon shot them, the disaster would never have taken place.
Another idea, one of my friend's teachers said that everyone should have a six-shooter, so if someone goes psycho and starts shooting people he'll only kill six and odds are someone would shoot him before that. Sounded like a good idea to me.
The Bill of Rights guarantees firearms, taking them away is dumb, how are we supposed to defend ourselves?
We learned this in 7th grade, these kids did a skit explaining the need for the firearms amendment. They proposed two scenarios:
1) without legal firearms, a young woman and her child are killed and robbed by a thief with a 357
2) With legal firearms, the young woman shoots the would-be murderer her and her young child survive, the man either lives to face justice or has already met justice's ruling. evil
I don't like guns, they are cowardly and dishonourable, but I will carry one, because this world is a gunfight. I'm not gonna be the idiot with mace whose attacker never gets close enough to be sprayed with it.

I gotta say it's a relief hearing that from you... well you never hear about "school shootings" before 30 years ago, maybe that's because in most states you were allowed to carry a gun wherever you wanted. Who, in their right mind or NOT, would even try shooting their classmates at school when they know they'll be shot dead first anyway? The world would be a lot friendlier when everyone knows it's a fair fight wherever you go. Firearms are the great equalizer.
And I mean then people say, "but not everyone is responsible enough to use a gun properly in the first place". Well, that's kind of irrelevant because it has always been that the privelege to a gun must be defined by the respect you have for it. If you are uncapable of using one the right way then you simply won't get one. I mean even Gomer Pyle knew that, they gave the sherriff one single bullet because he wasn't responsible enough to have any more.
I do disagree that guns are "cowardly" or "dishonourable" though. It is only that cowards take advantage of the availability of firearms because they know it will give them an unfair advantage. Ironically this issue can be completely reversed by making firearms available to everyone. There were always "massacres" before guns, because axes and swords and bludgeons were always available. It doesn't make those weapons "cowardly", because everyone had them.
Like you said, firearms can equalize unfair situations such as the Sept. 11th hijackings where such a scenario could have NEVER worked. The hijackers would carry a gun onto the plane like everyone else and they would have been at the business end of two-dozen loaded revolvers the second they tried anything.
Snowmaiden616 Well then even if they are unregistered the government should keep tabs on the guns created and imported. Ok smartypants how do you propose we fix all the bad stuff going on in the world?? Over 30 people dead and you are laughing!!!! How heartless can you be??
Wow, what a great suggestion, if only the government monitored the manufacture, distribution and import of firearms within North America. Then we would know almost exactly how many guns were out there and how many of them were owned illegally!
How do I propose the bad stuff going on in the world? Well aside from our inevitable self-destruction, I would propose worldwide Nationalism -- a step towards peace and a foolproof way to end racialism for good.
Please don't manipulate every post to make it seem "obscene" when it clearly wasn't, why would I laugh at 30 people being slaughtered? I was laughing because of your naïevety in case you really didn't get that.

Efstathios DON'T MOVE TO EUROPE/AUSTRALIA Move to Canada. More reasons than I can list to move to Canada over just about any other country. I totally want to marry a Canadian, but moving to Canada would mean forsaking U.S., and the Constitution is too pretty to just be abandoned. So I stay here, fighting. If a Republican gets elected (other than the only Republican I like, who's practically an unknown so there's no way he could win) president, I will personally lead a mass migration to Canada. We can wage war with U.S. and take some northern states so there's enough room for everyone. Note: The above is totally joking. Seemed ok, since there's not much debate at the moment. Well, the last bit is a joke. I would totally marry my Canadian friend, but he says he has to marry a Canadian girl so the kids will be purebloods. Silly. There's no such thing as "pure" Canadian.
Damn, pure Canadian? I'd be looking in Finland or Greece just so my kid doesn't have to grow up with the embarrassment of having 2 Canadian parents...
Seriously though what disappointment... I really hoped you were serious about the civil war between the Left and the Right. I would love nothing more than to see a league of Liberals trying to take hold of a handful of US States... just tell the citizens of the USA they can start shooting Liberals on-site, no questions asked...
