Theme: Previous theme - Day 1: Sheep
Time spent: 8hr18min
Comments: Me (the young lady blue dress in the center of the first image) and my spinning friends had our competition day today for something called the Back to Back! It's a global competition where you have a limited number of team members per team, which is 8, to shear a sheep, spin yarn from its wool and knit a sweater as fast as possible. In these 8 people, 1 person is in charge of shearing and handling a local sheep live and everyone else starts spinning it as quickly as possible. Once we get enough singles, or one person spins enough, we hand it off to the person who is the plyer. The plyer takes two individuals spun up yarn and spins them together to make a stronger and thicker yarn. They then hand off this yarn to the fastest knitter and they start knitting the front or back panel (the same pattern for both). We repeat this until there are 4 knitters (2 working in front/back, 2 on sleeves), 2 spinners, and the plyer. Team members can switch off back and forth if needed, especially for bathroom breaks and food breaks (very short ones). We try to get everything done as fast as possible. Everyone is working constantly. I am the fastest spinner, so I was spinning full time. I stopped spinning about 30 minutes before the knitters finished. As soon as the last knitting piece was finished, we quickly sewed all the pieces together (I did one side seam) and called time, which resulted in 8 hours 18 minutes! Our teams best (with now retired members) is 7h52min, so our team got really close! That 7hr52min time also happens to be the NA record! I don't have photos from everyone else so have these limited photos I could find lol. I'll add more photos later when people post them!
