User ImageThe Royal Line

    The Emperor
      Requirement:
      According to the Dragon Priest, the next Monarch will be a being of pure white. This means that one of the twelve Justicars' lines must produce a cub that is pure white and completely unblemished.

      Description:
      The Monarch is the ruler of the pride and has absolute power once they are crowned. While they might be advised by the elected Politico, it is ultimately their declarations that will be written in to law.

      The Monarch controls every fabric of the nation from the military to the legal system. As a consequence, they are known for being neutral, and tend to ignore the frequent attempts by nobles to curry their favour.

      It is not uncommon for the Politico to note how utterly bored the Monarchs look during government sessions given the often trivial complaints that specific regions enjoy bringing up. The monarch will however, listen to these complaints even if they choose to ignore them in the end!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The Consort
      Requirement:
      The consort must be married to the current Monarch. There can only be one, a monarch will not take mistresses as this complicates the claim to the throne.
      Description:
      This highly educated and often well bred companion is the confidante and company for the Monarch through both misery and pleasure. In short, they have to love their husband or wife a lot in order to subject themselves to the government sessions, some of which last for hours.
      They will generally place a great deal of focus on educating the heirs to the throne and ensuring that they remain fit and healthy. Beyond that, they are actively encouraged to seek out hobbies or causes they might enjoy that they wish to promote.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    The Heirs
      Requirement:
      The heirs are the blood born offspring of the Monarch and the Consort. Adoptive children take the rank of Noble, they have no claims to the throne.

      Description:
      The heirs are simply nobles, until such time as the eldest is summoned to take the throne they will conduct themselves as society might expect. Consequently, they will often attend high society gatherings and take up a profession that they feel they're most suited to.

      While they are expected to remain neutral, it's often difficult to avoid those attempting to curry favour. Tread carefully, while you might be safe from assassination (lest the wrath of the Justicars fall upon the entire noble caste), there will be those who attempt to exploit you...

User ImageExclusive Ranks

    The Justicars
      Requirement:
      Justicar rank is passed down through birth only.

      The rank of justicar isn't determined by age, the cubs of the Justicar will be required to express interest and then they will be put through rigorous training. The cubs will then be required to roll a one 6-sided dice as adults, the highest roll will be the heir to the Justicar title.

      The heir will receive the title upon the Justicar's death.

      Description:
      The Justicars are the original founding families of the nation, each line carrying a birth right to take the throne. However, the eligibility of the Justicar to take the throne is determined by the prophecies of the Dragon Priest... as such, not just any Justicar can become King or Queen.

      By default all Justicar offspring and their consorts are regarded as nobles, they are the 'purest' form of noble one can encounter, though standard nobles would do anything to dispute this!

      Justicars are well respected and renowned for remaining neutral, and often invisible, during times of peace.

      The life of a Justicar:
      The life of a Justicar is one of much debate; while they are nobles they are never seen at high society gatherings and on many occasions, nobles had confessed they don't even know what their families look like.

      Suffice it to say, that like their Collective, the Justicars tend to function as standard members of society. Some might assist their citizens in tending to the land, hunting for supplies, or by running businesses. They might be healers, they might be teachers, or they might even be craftsmen.

      What is certain however, is that they rarely make a song and dance about being in the immediate vicinity.

      The vast majority of civilians enjoy the company of Justicars simply because they are humble and unassuming. Nobles however, tend to treat the Justicars warily, as it is the Justicars who end the lives of those who try a little too hard to reach heights they shouldn't...

      The duties of a Justicar:
      When not required to lay claim to the throne; the Justicars are the traditional Royal Guard of the Monarch. However, due the tumultuous history of the nation, they serve an additional function as well - During the periods in which their is no Monarch, the Justicars immediately enforce democracy. In essence, they ensure that the representatives of the nation cannot attempt to form a dictatorship.

      They fiercely protect the nation from all threats that standard militia can't handle - this means that any treasonous activity is addressed by them to avoid the military being accused of anything untowards.

      They will generally take the helm during scourge assaults with the leading military figures accepting their orders during these periods.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The Collective
      Requirement:
      The Collective rank is only accessible through completing initial training as a cub, and then successfully attaining the necessary roll to enter the ranks. Essentially, your lion must go through boot camp, and then successfully live through their trials to become a collective member.
      Success is so difficult, that these ranks are exclusive.
      A Justicar may very rarely bypass the trials stage and recruit directly depending on the circumstances, but that is almost unheard of.
      Description:
      The Collective are the elite fighting forces that serve underneath the Justicars. Each Justicar has a pawful of extremely loyal lions at their command, each with specific skills that help them to achieve their goals. They are the ultimate strike team and if the collective ranks are required to intervene in any particular issue, then the issue is very grave indeed.
      General society has no idea who these individuals are. Even if a Collective member successfully completes their training and becomes one of the Justicar's team, they are required to return home and indicate that they failed.
      Secrecy is absolute - if any collective member exposes who they are without permission, they will be executed immediately.
      The life of a Collective:
      The life of a Collective individual is, for the most part, very simple.
      Unless otherwise called to action, the Collective members are generally stationed deliberately in specific locations and 'towns' in order to keep an eye on them. For the most part, a Collective member will often establish a family and continue with their day to day life as a normal member of society. They will take up a standard profession, and on a part time basis, also provide schooling for any exceptional cub that is identified as having potential.
      However, this lifestyle can quickly change when a Justicar calls their Collective to arms. When they are summoned by their Justicar the collective must leave immediately and come to his or her side. They are not to say their farewells, they are not to be spotted, in short they are simply to vanish so that they might conduct their duties in secret.
      It is not uncommon for them to take guard based ranks so as their disappearance isn't suspected...
      The duties of a Collective:
      As mentioned above, the duties of the Collective are generally simple during times of peace. When they are in 'sleep' mode they will usually conduct themselves as normal citizens.
      When the Justicar calls the collective to arms, they are expected to do whatever is required of them without question.
      Do not be surprised if your Collective member is summoned during a period of peace in order to assassinate an individual, generally to prevent an uprising or the return of the scourge.
      ...A Collective feline must have nerves of steel, a strong stomach, and the ability to park their own morals at the door.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      Becoming one of the Collective:
      To become a Collective member the following must happen...
      1. A cub must roll a 6-sided Dice. If they roll 5-6 then they are identified as 'exceptional'.
      2. The parents must then decide if the cub will enter schooling to become a collective member. If they decide to do this then the cub will be removed from them and taken in by a 'school'.
      3. Said cub is then required to complete a minimum of 10 RPs, this can be done between cub and adulthood.
      4. At this point you must decide if you want to drop out or you want to continue. If you decide to continue and you fail, your lion is going to die.
      5. Your lion will then enter the trials, they will then need to roll one 10-sided dice; the following outcomes will then occur:
          - If you roll below eight, your character has died.
          - If you roll eight your character is brutally injured, they will live, but they will never fight again.
          - If you roll above eight, your character has passed and will join the ranks of the Collective.

      Exceptional circumstances may result in a Justicar recruiting a Collective member by bypassing the entire training regime and trials. There are limitations on this:
      1. A Justicar may only do this once in a nine month period.
      2. The Justicar must clarify why they are bypassing this limitation.

User ImageStandard Ranks

    The Nobles
      Requirement:
      There are several ways that an individual can be a noble but the most common way is to be born into the position.

      Additional opportunities come in the form of marrying up (rare) or being recognised for valor by the monarchy (again, rare).

      Description:
      The noble caste are a peculiar lot; they contain two very distinct castes with one favouring traditions and the other working towards a more progressive society. Depending on your views, you are most likely to find yourself on one side or another. Be warned, in this society not having an opinion is unacceptable, it isn't uncommon for the nobles to press one another for a view and then hold each other to it.

      Pick your sides carefully, and pick your allies even more wisely.

      The life of a Noble:
      The life of the noble is filled with intrigue.

      What seems like a life filled with high society parties and needless gossip to passing civilians, is actually a life of shadows and claws. Infighting is incredibly common among noble families as they vie for superiority. Regardless of what side of the coin they may fall on, there are those within these families who want to be at the top.

      Consequently, information is power and a lot of nobles will spend a lot of their time attempting to get ahold of valuable gossip.

      For those who prefer to keep away from the particulars of the social pecking order, nobles are most well known for a variety of businesses they happen to know. Generally speaking nobles are in charge of some of the largest businesses in the pride and employ a substantial number of individuals. They will generally be in the highly respected and well educated professions as well.

      ...To see a noble in a 'farm' or hunting is almost unheard of.

      Typical Professions for a Noble:
      Nobles gravitate towards clearly and more highly educated professions such as:
      - Politico
      - Ambassador
      - Lawyer
      - Judge
      - Doctor

      They may choose to do more hands on professions such as farming if they prefer but this would be regarded as an oddity.

    The Civilians
      Requirement:
      There are no requirements to become a civilian, all individuals start off as a civilian.

      Description:
      This is the standard rank for all individuals who are part of this great nation. From newborn to adulthood, a lion will retain this 'rank' and remain here unless they marry into the noble houses, or happen to be recognised for their valor by the monarchy.

      The life of a Civilian:
      Life as a civilian is nothing particular special, it's as exciting or as mundane as a feline wishes to make it. Given that a feline can do and be whomever they would like, it is not uncommon for them to cut their own path.

      Civilians generally don't mix with nobles unless they work underneath a noble in one of their businesses. Consequently, civilians would frequent 'inns' and other lesser establishments. They would also not be expected to be at high society gatherings.

      General manners and etiquette are generally expected, though depending on the overall 'caste' of the family, it is not uncommon to see some with slightly less decorum than others!

      Typical Professions for a Civilian:
      A civilian can have any number of professions, the pride is one of opportunity and an individual who puts in the work can generally become anything they want. Some of the most common professions that you might see are listed below:
      - Merchant
      - Bard
      - Doctor
      - Farmer
      - Hunter
      - Soldier/Guard
      - Peacekeeper

      A civilian will also have access to the Ambassador and Politico ranks during the annual elections.

User ImageLimited Professions in the Al-Siq
Professions within the pride do not carry a unique cert title; due to the manner in which some felines may choose to change their professions/careers they simply carry their 'caste' title of noble, civilian and so on.

There are however several non-certed ranks that carry significantly more weight within the pride. While these may not be certed, they do take up a spot on the memberlist and hold several requirements to use them...

    Ambassador
    The ambassador is a peculiar rank for the isolationist pride. It is generally expected that the ambassadors will negotiate with external prides and nations to put in place the beginnings of a new alliance.

    This particular rank is exclusively selected from those in the Politico as it ensures that the Ambassador is acting on behalf of the pride through democratic elections.

    Requirements:
    - Win election as Politico.
    - Be elected by Politico as Ambassador.
    - Ambassadors are then expected to RP once every six months to maintain this rank, but unlike Politico, they don't risk losing it each year.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Politico
    The Politico are the 'politicians' within the pride, they are elected annually by the pride and represent each area of the pride. They are the individuals who will vote on policies when a Monarch is not present and bring them in to law.
    When a monarch is present, they act as an advisory council who ensure that the nation's voices are heard.
    Requirements:
    - Win an election.
    - You will keep this position for a year, then you will need to be re-elected.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Judge
    The Judge is exactly what it implies, they are the individuals who generally oversee disputes for individuals who have broken the law of the nation. When each case has been put forward it is up to them to determine the punishment.

    Requirements:
    - Ten RPs as an active member of society (either nobility or civilian)
    - Recognition from the Justicars that you are a fair individual
    - Awareness if you become problematic you will either lose your station or be killed! (Refer to section on Justicars).

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Standard Professions
    Beyond those professions listed above, a feline is free to be whatever profession they would like. However, please note that they generally stick to one profession. A lion who switches careers regularly will quickly be recognised as a jack of all trades and a master of none within this pride.
    In order to ensure that you remain an upstanding citizen and respected for your art, try to keep the midlife crises and the job hops to a minimal level!
