Uncertainly, Marx approached the trainer. He jerked to a stop, though, when he suddenly realized his holo caster had gone off, putting on the breaks and quickly pulling it out to save himself the threat of having to engage in battle. Unfortunately, though, Felix turned to look at him, not missing the excuse. 'Respond after the battle, Marx,' he instructed. The brunette guiltily glanced over at the Kirlia, then put the device away. It... would probably be nice to be able to tell them he did his first real trainer battle... even if he ended up losing.
Or at least, that's what he'd tell himself. Trying to swallow the anticipation of totally failing, he put on a grin, approaching the girl as he scratched the back of his head. "Uh, hey! I noticed you were a trainer.... You wouldn't be interested in a battle, would you?" he asked. The girl looked up, finger held above the pokedex that she'd apparently been struggling with, and then smiled. "Sure!" she agreed, putting it away, "Four on four sound okay?" Marx shrugged, giving a smile in return. "Sure, why not?" he replied, backing up as she reached for her first pokeball. Hopefully... he didn't do too bad...

"S-sorry!" Marx stuttered, eyes wide as Shroomish bulldozed the girl's Victreebel, over killing it quite a bit with his last hit. The previous pokemon hadn't been much better off, but at least it wasn't quite so close to fainting when Basil knocked it out! The girl winced in sympathy for her pokemon, returning it. "Iiiit's okay... I know you didn't mean to," she replied, sounding a bit doubtful of her own words. Looking at the wide eyed, stressed look on Marx's face, though, it was pretty easy to tell he really hadn't meant for his pokemon to hit that hard. He quickly returned shroomish, who shook himself after his victory, and flashed an apologetic, sheepish, and hesitant half smile. She returned it, sending out her next pokemon.
A swellow.... Hmmmm.... 'No, not Basil, Marx. Send out Litwick,' Felix instructed, glancing at his temporary trainer. Marx glanced back, but moved his hand from his starter's pokeball to the fire pokemon's. He sent it out, and Felix turned his gaze to the battle field-- but before he could even start to give Marx any instruction on what to tell his pokemon, Litwick's flame grew, and ghostly fire shimmered into existence around him, then flew at the bird pokemon. "Ha!" the girl exclaimed, grinning, "Swellow's ability is Guts! That was the wrong move! Swellow, use Wing Attack!" she instructed. Litwick's flame flickered green from its usual blue, briefly, his eyes flashing before he took the hit, then opened them, his stare intensifying. Energy gathered around him-- and then an odd ray shot towards the bird, who was knocked back, wings flapping to keep him up. He looked startled, and when he landed, his feet side stepped and stumbled.
"H-huh...?" Carla stuttered, her hands dropping from their victorious raise. She paused, then stepped forward, regaining her determination despite her confusion-- and her pokemon's. "Wing attack again, Swellow!" she instructed. But the plan back fired-- in his increased attack state, the bird's attempt backfired, dealing even more damage than normal, and causing him to land, weak, on the ground. His sharp eyes darted up to the wide, little eyes of the fire pokemon before him, glowing green as the flame atop its head grew with the same eerie light. That sweet little smile... The light behind his eyes seemed to dance just like his fire-- and just like that, with a final Flame Burst, the battle ended.
"Uh-n..." Carla dropped her hands, staring in dismay. Marx stared with wide eyes, glancing at Felix. He... hadn't even given any instruction... He quickly returned Litwick, stuffing the ball away and trying to decide whether to look embarrassed or apologetic. He had no idea what just happened! Felix, as per usual, didn't seem to respond much, though he was no longer looking at Marx. He was instead gazing thoughtfully to the side, but he looked up as, after a moment, Carla sent out her final pokemon. Marx released Basil, but the battle ended quickly, with the grovyle standing tall, at full health at the end of it all. "Your... Your grovyle is pretty strong," the girl commented, tucking her pokeball away after returning her fainted pokemon.
Marx gave a sheepish grin, rubbing the back of his neck. "Heh, thanks! I dunno how! We've barely done any training lately!" he remarked. "Gro... vyle," Basil muttered, crossing his arms over his chest as he glanced back at Marx. The brunette blinked, giving his pokemon a questioning and perplexed look, his head tilted to the side like a confused puppy. The girl only gave a small, sympathetic smile to the grovyle, then to Marx. "Anyway, it was a good battle. I'm gonna go heal my pokemon," she said, giving a wave before heading off. Marx nodded, waving back, and then excitedly pulled his holo caster out. Basil stared at him, but he didn't seem to notice-- he was too busy replying to Cheria and Alexandra.

Marx grinned as he put away the communication device. Man, if all trainer battles were that easier, maybe he'd try them more often! He closed his eyes, beaming to himself, but blinked when he seemed to finally feel a... stare on him. He opened his eyes, looking curiously around, and noticed Basil still looking at him with disapproval. '.... I think Basil is trying to tell you that he thinks you should train more, Marx,' Felix explained, observing the blank look on the trainer's face. Marx blinked, glancing at the kirlia, then back at Basil with surprise. "But, we just were training!" he replied. 'I think he means that this shouldn't be such a rare instance...' Felix replied flatly.
Marx deflated a bit, then sighed. "Okay, so... should I go and try and find someone else to battle?" he asked, this time, surprisingly, turning towards Basil. The grovyle frowned, looking down in thought, then reluctantly shaking his head. He nodded his head towards Marx's Holo caster, which was going off again. They did need to train-- but for now, Marx also had the responsibility of being available for his friends, too. Maybe they could encounter a few other trainers, or wild pokemon, while they waited...
Marx looked at his starter a moment longer, then turned his attention to the message. It was Cheria, and he quickly started up a reply.

After having flown for a fair ammount of time, Zero started to notice just how fast Ashen could go. Keeping himself low and firmly attached to the pokemon, he'd gotten used to flying, albeit out of necessity. The last thing he wanted was to be thrown off and plunged into the waters bellow... "Obsidian?" Alexandra stepped tentatively towards the building, where she'd last seen her pokemon, only to stop when she received an odd reply, "Meleeon!", and an unknown pokemon stepped from the shadow the building cast. The black and white, quadruped animal looked up curiously at her before shaking its body out. "Melee!" the pokemon cried out once more before loping over to Alexandra and rubbing his body fiercely against her leg. It didn't take a genius to figure out that this was her pokemon, but figuring out just what he'd become was an entirely different matter altogether.
Alexandra crouched down and extended her hand and Obsidian instantly wiggled forward, fitting his head into her hand. She used that moment to examine her pokemon's new form, her fingers running through his coarse fur before they stopped at the bandages wrapped tightly around his limbs. "Amazing," the brunette breathed, earning a puzzled look from Obsidian, before she stood to her feet. She'd never seen a pokemon like this before, though if his cry was a clue her Eevee had evolved into a 'Meeleeon'. When all other methods of identification failed she turned to her Pokedex for an answer. After a quick scan a species and a brief entry on the pokemon popped up.
A ground and fighting... the first Eeveelution to have a dual typing. Alexandra pursed her lips gently as she read over the two sentences that claimed to describe the newly discovered pokemon. There was so much information missing: behavior, diet, habitat....
But that meant..... oh my goodness! That meant she could do research! In-depth research! Field work! Observations! Notes! She could learn!

After a few minutes of inner rejoicing and nerding out, Alexandra managed to reign in her excitement long enough to realize she had two messages. She put her Pokedex away, replacing it with her XTransceiver, and checked who the senders were, when she saw that it was Marx and Rose she sent them both a response, her message to Marx nearly as excited as his; minus the emoji.
Before she replied to Rose, however, the brunette stopped to contemplate Marx's text. How had he managed to get this far without once challenging a fellow trainer... it was baffling and impressive at the same time, considering the fact that he had at least two badges to his name. Speaking of badges she really needed to focus on getting her third soon, her pokemon were getting close to disobeying her.
Alexandra shook her head once to clear her mind and redirected her attention back to her communicator. Right, responding to Rose. The young woman ran her fingers gently over Obsidian's ears, earning a satisfied chirp and a loving nuzzle, before she straightened up and began to walk back in the direction of the Pokecenter, typing out her text and sending it to her redheaded friend on her way back.

Naiya let her arms out into the wind to feel the pressure whilst she flew above the clouds on Cynthia's back. She hated that she had even doubted her Swanna. And now that they were near Ambrette, Naiya was trying to see the pokemon center. As they neared to go by it, Naiya gasped, finally spotting where she hoped her friends would be. Of course, she was also cold, but who wouldn't be at such a high altitude. Cynthia started to descend, slowly at first, but not before Serenity decided to act. Wanting to play a prank on Naiya, being her trainer. Naiya felt something on her back before she was freefalling through the air. A gasp escaped her before Cynthia was under her and guiding her safely to the ground. When they landed, Naiya's eyes were large and furious. Serenity had crossed a serious line that time! Trying to regain her breath, Naiya went to yell at Serenity for nearly killing her when she noticed her friends in front of the pokemon center. "Serenity, you are in the clear for now... Rose! ISIS!!! Zero!" She called as she ran over. Excited as she normally was.

"Thank you, Zero! I'm sure the rest of them will be here soon." Rose smiled as Zero wished her a happy birthday, having finally come over to join them. Though she told Isis she didn't really have to get her a present, Isis ended up pulling out a gift for her anyways, insisting that she had it right away. "Wow! W-wait, really?!? It'll keep ghosts away? Thank you so much, Isis!" Rose exclaimed, looking at the spirit bead necklace the blonde presented her with, then immediately hugged her. Fynx gently took the necklace from Rose, then put it on around her trainer's neck and closing the clasp. It wasn't long before she heard Shenaiya arrive, running over being her loud bubbly self. It was great to see her again!

Finally, the group of friends met up with each other, heading back to Rose's house on the beach. Her parents welcomed them all inside, where they had prepared more than enough food for them to eat. While the friends intermingled, so did some of their pokemon. Fynx, when she wasn't sticking close to Rose, seemed to take interest in chatting with Atona, Isis' mega Lucario. Though he was rather stern, Fynx was determined to try and get reactions out of him throughout the party. After a while of eating and getting to know everyone even better, Rose's parents showered her with gifts, mostly berries that her mom was saving up for her. The biggest present she got was her very own Flareon, and upon releasing him from his ball, she refused to let Blaze out of her arms. While the Flareon didn't seem very comfortable with this, he seemed to accept that this would be his life now.
Though the main part of the party was done and over with, there was still plenty she wanted to do with her friends. After pleading with her parents, they decided that she could have her friends sleep over for the night. Rose was overexcited for this, since she never really had a sleep over before. It was mostly the girls in the group that stayed up and had a great time before eventually falling asleep. Rose's skitty that she had left with her parents had taken a liking to Alex, curling up beside her when everyone went to bed, and from then on, seemed to have an attachment to her. In the morning, they had some breakfast and went to the aquarium. There, Isis took pictures of them by the golden magikarp statue, though they got in trouble for climbing on it. And somehow, Marx had gotten himself stuck in one of the tanks! After he was fished out, the group was escorted out of the aquarium, so for the rest of the day, they had fun down by the beach behind Rose's house.
Rose learned some things, too! Alexandra taught her about megastones, which Rose happened to have two of them and she never would have known! She had one for Bijou, and one for Auriel. Fynx requested to learn how to use a camera from Isis, wanting to capture memories like Isis had been for the entirety of the party. Rose also got some tips from the more experienced of her friends on battling, even having some mock battles. Marx, if he was paying attention, possibly picked up on some of it, as well.
While the entire party was fun, it couldn't last forever. Everyone had their things to do, including Rose. Now that she had the hm fly - which she forgot to claim in coumarine after her battle - she really wanted to go on a flying adventure. It was lucky that Ramos was able to track her residence down to send the hm for her. So eventually, the party died down, and it was time to part ways for everyone.
"Heh~ Thank you all for spending all that time with me! It was really fun!" Rose smiled to her friends as everyone seemed about ready to leave. Skitty, though, was circling Alexandra, mewling as if to say he didn't want her to leave.

Marx was shook from his (attempted) thoughts when he got another reply from Cheria. He opened up the message, his face scrunching up a bit in puzzlement at what seemed like an incomplete text. Should he wait and see if she realized and sent something else? Or should he reply and ask? He sort of understood it... Oshawott was a water starter, right? For... Uh... Unova? Unoda? He was pretty sure there was a region called that...

Huh. He was just about to set into trying to send a text to ask what she meant when he got another message, again from Cheria. He relaxed with a smile, reading the explanation. She didn't quite finish her previous sentence, but... he got the gist of it, at least! And she had apparently gained a new friend! That was cool! He quickly typed up another reply to her, blinking as, just after he sent it, he got yet another message. This one was from Alex, though. Alexandra, that is. He read the message, a grin quickly blossoming over his face in excitement. A newly discovered evolution?! And it was an eeveelution!? Oh man, he had to see that!! He had to fix about seven typos as he texted back his excitement, and quickly hit send. He was just about to put the device away when he got a message from Shenaiya, too, and quickly read that. She was on her way! Which meant he should... probably head to the pokecenter, to see if he could find Rose, and meet up with Alexandra.
With that decided, he stuffed his communicator away and bolted to where he thought was the pokecenter. He was a little off course. Luckily, Felix and Basil were able to round him up and redirect him, with Flygon soaring along up above, still clasping the egg in her arms as she swooped and soared. It took some time, and apparently, enough that Shenaiya was able to arrive, but he finally found the group, grinning and racing ahead. Basil and Felix followed at a more leisurely pace, the grovyle looking far from impressed, or even tolerable, of his trainer.
"Guys!" he shouted, waving and promptly throwing himself at Rose, giving her a big hug that could have lifted her off her feet, and darting over to Shenaiya to do the same. Even though he knew them less well, Marx promptly flew over to Isis to give her a hug as well, and, perhaps unfortunately, Zero too. He hopped back over to where Basil and Felix came to a stop, beaming at the group and locking his hands behind his head. "Hehe, have you guys been waiting long? That energy didn't seem to die down at all once they were all reunited, either. He didn't swoop to give Alex a hug like everyone else, given her talk to him about personal space, way back when, but... he was clearly happy to see her, and more than happy for a hug if she was okay with it.
After heading to Rose's house, it took all of his effort not to run all over the place, though he did ask if they could get a tour of her house. He let his pokemon out, or at least some of them, so they could interact with the others. Basil spent his time, primarily, with Xion, and Flygon quickly tucked the egg away somewhere safe so she could soar off to go greet (perhaps a little overly friendly, just as before) Dune, and eagerly ask him if he wanted to play. Vaporeon didn't show much interest in socializing, and Sableye was... kept in his pokeball, for safety. The rest of Marx's pokemon tended to just lounge or remain in their pokeballs, save Zubat, who was returned after his... sporadic screeching.
Given his immense amount of energy, it was hard for Marx to actually fall asleep, but after a bit, he did finally drop solidly down and pass out, snoozing away in his pajamas.
Of course, he was up for the adventuring that came the next day, even though he might have been a little... overly enthusiastic in his explorations of the aquarium. It wasn't his fault he got lost! Maybe if he'd read the signs a bit better.... But they should have had more blockades! He still wasn't really sure how he managed to find his way to the tops of one of hte fish tanks, where he fell in. But he did. Basil couldn't show any more disapproval even if he were trying to win a disapproval contest. There was just no end to his trainer's stupidity...
At least being soaking wet seemed to slow him down a bit. He was able to eavesdrop on some of the teaching, though he still got easily distracted and ended up running off now and then, to go play with the others or the pokemon. Doing so reminded him that he needed to get those badges, but... he was honestly enjoying spending so much time with all of his friends. He didn't really want it to end.
Striking his typical pose, he waited as everyone gathered themselves and got ready to leave. "Thanks for having us, Rose!" he replied, closing his eyes as he grinned, "It was really fun! We should have birthday parties more often!" When he wasn't... on the verge of most of his pokemon disobeying, that was. He stiiiiilll should probably focus on that before getting distracted with more fun.
