Damon returned to the stables and calmed the herd down after a vampire had come to try and snack on them. He was a bit annoyed that a student thought his herd was a source of food and he would have to set new rules for the students. Unless he knew them no student was allowed near the stables unless he was present. Even so he was angry enough he thundered towards the most recent voice rearing up when he stopped inside the fence.

He could smell dragon on the man but he still didn't trust the other yet. "Can I help you." Damon didn't look happy and his actions confirmed it. At least he had calmed the herd down which made things a bit better.

The centaur was still upset but he had his teaching responsibility and this student wasn't the one going after his horses so he had to let it go. With a sigh he visibly relaxed and looked at the student.

"Yes I am, though I prefer Damon. Though you seem to already know your way around horses based on your reactions to my earlier behavior. I apologize, it seems someone wanted to snack on the herd and I got upset." The horses were his only family after he came to the school his centaur herd exiled him for going to teach humans and other species.

"We should find you a horse then."

Damon looked the male over for a moment thinking of the horse that would best suit him and thought one of the spirited stallions might work. "Just Damon is fine. Mr makes me feel old and as far as centaurs go I'm still pretty young." Hearing the other was a prince didn't surprise him, just by his looks and clothing he was brought up differently then most students he got, or they tried to hide who they were.

He was surprised by the other's question however. It had been some time since he had a good grooming and eventually he consented. "Alright. Afterwards though we find you a horse. Alright this way then."

He easily cleared the fence holding the horses and went towards the stables and the tack room. "The brushes I use have my name on the bucket. Normally I have the students not familiar with horses do this so I can help them before a horse gets upset. They get the benefit of learning the skills on someone that can give them direct pointers."

"It was my fault for not being with the herd. I thought to go to lunch with a student, he seemed a bit shy and I thought I could help him. I come back to find the horses panicked." He said more angry at himself now then the student. "I am their leader its my duty to protect them, the student probably didn't know they provide for his needs at the school and though this was better then biting a student or teacher."

He let out another sigh feeling he let the horses down somehow. "Music would be nice for them. I'll be letting them out into the field soon for their grazing." he said softly not sure what he should do. He wasn't really teaching a class and at the moment he lacked confidence to defend his family as he should. He didn't know what he could do to restore that trust between the horses and himself.

"There is one, he is a bit spirited but I'm sure you could handle him. I have a mare that does a good job watching the herd when I'm away, I've never had an issue with students trying to bite one of the horses though." He said softly knowing he wouldn't be leaving the herd again for some time. He at least could have company when he had classes but other then that he would remain with the herd.

"If you wish you can come during weekends though you still have your school duties to attend. Homework comes first you know." He said actually relaxing at the other's touch. He wasn't sure why he was allowing this but he needed to be comforted just like his horses did it seemed and this student was doing a good job.
