At first, Sasha had hoped that it was Bane coming back and tried in vain to hide her disappointment when she saw that it was Lao instead, "I... I guess I'm alright...," she told him softly, part of her hoping that he wouldn't catch her in the lie.
She hadn't been able to get out in the sun in weeks and her usually iridescent scales were lacking any form of shine, but with her unable to fly or move around much at all it really wasn't that hard to figure out why she wasn't appearing at her best...
There were a couple of dear carcasses that she'd finished off when Bane was watching her eat, but no more than that since she'd been telling her father that she wasn't all that hungry, not wanting to put him to too much work for her since she felt so much like a burden as it was.
The claw marks along her sides were healing but doing it slowly and her wings were still in very bad shape, proving that she was going to be a long time healing... Maybe even longer if she didn't start getting proper care, mainly someone who would basically bully her into eating properly and see to it that she was able to get down to bathe and sun herself...
"I'm sorry if I've worried you or Ebony... I told her not to worry so much last time she was here...," she said softly, keeping her eyes down so that he wouldn't catch the bronze swirling in her usually silver eyes, a sure sign that the younger dragon wasn't doing very well at all and had apparently been deliberately hiding it from her father...

"The wounds of a dragon's body heal fast and well, but you cannot hide the hurt in your heart from me young one." Lao replied before walking over beside her, taking a seat as he watched her wounds. "The only reason you are like this is because you hurt on the inside, not the outside. You are in deep pain young one, but you are a dragon: time is our ally. I know my words may not mean much, but remember that I too lost a loved on, and was able to find new love." The Emperor stated before leaning down to nudge her softly, careful not to hurt her wing.
"As cliché as this sounds, but its time to walk it off. Why not come upstairs and come meet the rest of our family? The hatchlings would do well to meet other dragons and learn, and I may have a few nifty trinkets hidden away in my hoard to help get your wounds settled so you can work on mending your broken heart."

Sasha got to her feet at his urging, though she wasn't sure how she managed it. She limped to the ledge outside of the small cavern she'd been and blinked at the brightness of the sun overhead, that alone showing what poor condition she was in.
But she turned her head to the higher ledge that was Lao and Ebony's home and gave a small sigh as she looked at her splinted and bandaged wings, "I hate to say it, but I think I'm going to need a little help up there...," she said softly, feeling bad that she'd put him to so much trouble already.
She paused and looked in the direction Bane had flown away and gave a small sigh, "It's partly my fault that he's like that now, you know... If only I'd just listened to him and stayed out of sight instead of insisting on going flying... If only I'd told him about everything that had happened from the beginning... But I didn't want to worry him... He'd just lost Chrysta... Almost at the same time I lost my mate... But she was his third... I don't think he has it in him to try for another...," she explained some of what the problem for Bane was but knew that there was more to it than that....

Bane had flown hard and fast to the outer reaches of the island, glad for the solitude. He dove down through the clouds and nearly crashed into the sand of the beach, if not had he swiveled and twisted his body hard at the last second.
"Still can't seem to have the guts to break my own neck...oh well."
He walked along the beach before he found a comfortable spot by some trees. He spread himself out on the sand and rested his head under the shade of the tree as his body soaked up sun.
Bane lay there his body slowly relaxing as his mind whirled with many thoughts. Many concerns.
Most of his thoughts were centered around Sasha and wondering if he could find someone who could be good for her. Many of those he knew once were either dead or already mated. Bane knew she needed someone to lovingly protect her....be there for her, and love her completely when he was gone.
Perhaps that was the reason his self attempts at destruction were failures. He still had one major job left to do before he ended this damned long existence, and perhaps find peace.

|Geth Vaurn|
A lone man walked the path to the Dragon Emperor's cavern. He was tall and muscular, and he was wearing very worn out clothing with a brown rucksack on his back. He looked like a hitchhiker, and he was very out of place on Draconia. At least to the eyes... a dragon could take one whiff of him and sense that he was one of them.
He was Geth Vaurn. At one time, he served the Dragon Emperor, back before the humans became violent towards the dragons and banished them to legend. Now he remained hidden amongst the humans, almost as if he was ashamed of his dragon form. The last time had taken flight as a dragon was centuries ago, and at times, he almost forgot he had one.
He whistled into the cavern's entrance, wondering who would answer...

Ebony made certain that the hatchlings were still asleep in their nursery before she moved to the back entrance where the whistle came from and gave a rolling chuckle, "Come on in Geth Vaurn... You are welcome to settle here in the islands but come and talk to me for a bit...," she said to him simply, easily recognizing one of her former charges though she knew he wouldn't recognize her just yet.
True, her name would be familiar, something she hadn't ever changed, but she'd always served the Goddess in her panther form. So this would probably be quite a shock to the male...
She moved inside the main cavern and was grateful that she'd insisted on having a proper set-up for at least making coffee and tea in the place, "Since you're in human form, you can start the water for tea or make coffee if you prefer...," she added as she settled herself off to one side with her wings tucked to her sides, her black scales making her almost a shadow despite the light streaming in from the skylights she'd insisted on having Lao put in.

He raised an eyebrow as a dragoness invited him into the cavern. She knew of him, but he was at a loss to her identity, unfortunately. He entered the cavern. He began to prepare the water, still undecided if he wanted coffee or tea. He looked around the cavern, seeing that it was rather cozy, for a cave. There were large cushions for dragons to recline upon, big enough that one could play tennis upon them... He climbed upon one, watching the dragoness curl up upon another cushion.
"Forgive me, you have me at a disadvantage. You know me, but I don't recall ever meeting you..."

She gave another rolling chuckle, "Perhaps this will help your memory, Geth...," she said softly and shifted to her black panther form and moved into a ray of light so that he could see her clearly, wearing the familiar collar of jewels and bracelets that she'd always worn.
She sat down, letting her tail curl around her legs, "Do you remember now? Or should I trip you into another cold stream somewhere?" she asked him, reminding him of their first meeting.
He had tried to leave her behind one day, not wanting a talking cat following him around so she'd simply tripped him into an icy stream. Luckily, he'd relented and given in to her...

Geth's eyes widened, and he practically leapt from the cushion he was on to greet his friend. He took her hand and kissed her knuckles before drawing her into a hug, patting her back vigorously.
"It has been too long, old friend."
Finally, he pulled away from the hug, smiling at Ebony. Indeed, it had been too long since he last saw her. In fact, she was probably the last person to see his dragon form before he stopped shifting. It had taken him a few months of traveling with her to warm up to her, but she had become one of his closest friends. Not that he had had many to begin with.
"When did you become a dragon?"

Ebony nuzzled at his cheek for a moment then backed off and took her human form, her skin and hair as ebony as her scales and fur had been. She was wearing a simple tanktop and shorts as she moved to pour him a cup of tea, adding in a bit of honey just as he'd liked it.
She handed him the cup and moved to look into the adjacent cavern to check on the hatchlings, "I was always a dragon... I went into service for the Goddeess as a child after my people were slain... she kept me in panther form to protect me from those who had attacked us...," she told him simply, "But now I am Mated and am free of her service...," she finished that part of her life and turned back to him.
"It's good that you've come... We seem to have someone who needs looking after... She and her father are heartsore and she has been hunted by others of our kind. She resides here on the island, waiting for her wounds to heal... Her father... He is weary and longs for rest... I don't know what to do with him yet... And Sasha is still young yet... But she has already lost one Mate, killed by those after her...," she explained it to him as simply as she could, though she had no real hope of him taking on the problem that Sasha currently was at the moment...

Geth accepted the tea from Ebony, listening to Sasha's story. It was a difficult tale, even more difficult for the poor youngling. To have already lost a mate, it was an unthinkable thing for him. He took a sip of the tea, before asking,
"Why has she been hunted?"

Ebony gave a small shrug as she moved to get her own tea and sat down on a cushion near him, "Her father is HellBane BlackHeart... Retired king of the Dragon Realm... He named her his heir... The other dragons refused her in favor of their own relatives... So they killed her Mate and attempted to force her into a mating with those they chose for her or they tried to kill her outright... They nearly succeeded this last time... Luckily Lao was here to stop them...," she explained and sipped at her tea calmly.
"But in the process this time, they broke one of her wings, shredded the other, and gave her numerous other wounds... She cannot hunt, cannot get to the lake in the forest below to bathe, cannot even shift to her human form...," she added, letting him know just how bad the female was hurt.
"Bane does his best, but he has also lost a mate... His third... It's very hard for him right now...," she finished, looking down into her cup for a moment before reaching over to refill it and did the same for his.

"Theirs is a sad tale... If there is anything I can do for either of them, I will gladly do it."
He took another drink from his cup, tapping it thoughtfully. He hadn't seen any other dragons on the island at all. None had been flying in the air, or hunting, or really doing anything... As it they weren't there.
"How many other dragons have answered your invitation?"

Ebony gave another small shrug as she stood to check on the hatchlings again, "You are the first," she told him calmly though she had hoped to be able to tell him differently.
There was a sound of wings and a large body landing on its feet on the main ledge, then another with a few whimpers of pain and Ebony looked over to the opening that soon revealed Sasha limping into the cavern with the larger Lao moving in behind her.
He tilted his head at Ebony after seeing the man sitting in their cavern and she smile reassuringly at him, "An old friend of mine, Geth Vaurn," she explained simply, knowing he'd understand. He shifted to his human form and moved to check on the hatchlings as well then nodded to the man, "Geth, my mate, Lao Shan-Lung...," oh how she enjoyed the widening of Geth's eyes over that one, "And this is Sasha...," she finished the introductions and narrowed her eyes at the female.
"And you, young woman, need to eat... But first, you're going to let me check your injuries over again and drink a healing tea...," she told her, shaking her head as Sasha lowered her white head as if she were about to say something stupid.
And, of course, Sasha did just that.
"Please... I'm alright... Don't put yourself to any trouble, Ebony...," she said, though she knew it was useless as the woman moved over to make sure of her sutures that bound her shredded wing to some stout linen in the hopes that the membranes would grow back then her splinted wing to make sure that the delicate bones ere knitting together alright.
Sasha endured that and gave in to having her other injuries checked over with a resigned sigh, enduring Ebony's comments on her grayed scales that should have been iridescent white...
She was fairly embarrassed to be meeting anyone in the condition she was in, much less a friend of Ebony's and couldn't even look at him right now...

Geth could only bow in awe; even though he spent two centuries serving the Dragon Emperor, he had never seen him in person. It was an honor to be in his presence. He heard the low whines following Lao, as a young dragon limped her way into the cavern.
Sasha certainly was a striking dragon, even in her current state. Geth hadn't seen the likes of her before- not with the iridescent white scales at least. It was a bit sad to watch a dragon limping, wounded as she was. His eyes followed Ebony as she tended to Sasha's wounds.
"Is there anything I can do?"
