Either way, the 'intruder' in the vents would see me start dozing off again...

Blizzard had assumed correctly about the nature of Sableye as Poe slipped out of the vent with ease thanks to its ghostly form, the imp scurrying across the ceiling and positioning its self above Blizzard, frowning as he looked down at the hybrid. He could eat his dreams easily enough, but it was like drinking water to Poe, thirst quenching but put nothing in his belly. Sableye weren't like most other Ghost Pokemon who could feed off things dreams could provide, like fear or other emotions, instead they required actual physical food in the form of gemstones, as Blizzard recalled.

Scurrying down the wall and onto the floor Poe began to walk around, poking around in cabinets, bags, or anything else he could find to sift through to find something to eat. Unfortunately for the Sableye he came up short every time. The med lab wasn't exactly the place you would find say a Fire Stone or the like but he was desperate. Deciding to give up here and look elsewhere Poe walked past Blizzard's sleeping form, giving him a passing glance for a moment before resuming his shuffle, but then stopping in his tracks and turning back around.

Curiosity getting the better of him the Sableye grinned to himself and climbed up onto the side of the bed, positioning himself just inches way from Blizzard's head. Opening his mouth wide Poe began to give off a pink glow as he began to execute a Dream Eater to suck the dreams from Blizzard's sleeping mind. He wanted to see what the Cold One dreamed of. Like his trainer he couldn't let a good opportunity pass him by.

The Sableye would seem to get his Dream Eater off without a hitch. As the dreams were getting consumed, the images were scattered. Chaotic. But there was something frequent within them. Brief flashes of whom put the Articuno hybrid before him into that very bed to begin with, making it clear if nothing else, the hunter left quite the mark. More than the physical damage that she had.

As the Sableye partaken into the thirst-quenching, Sableye would perhaps find himself...feeling more solid somehow, solid enough for four gigantic hands that snatched the Sableye. "MACHAA!" Orderly shouted, which snapped me awake.

"Augh...the...hell?" I looked up, over towards Orderly with Poe now in the fighting types clutches. It seemed to pay to know Foresight for an orderly that's a Fighting type Pokemon.

"What's going on!?" Doc Owl made his way into the room right after wards.

"Maachaa maachaamp!"

"Dream Eater!? Have you gone daft!?" Doc Owl asked the Sableye. "That's the last thing I need in here! He's already in bad shape already!"

"Agh! It was just a joke! Hehe!" Poe screamed as he flailed around in the grip of the Machamp. "I just wanted to see what was playing on the inside! Here, I'll give it back, hehe!" He said, pointing a finger at Blizzard and firing off a red beam of energy at him. As the beam made contact Poe would go completely limp in the grip of Orderly while Blizzard received much more energy than he had before he went to sleep, which probably didn't truly register to the hybrid due to the shape he was in but it certainly did to Poe.

The move was Pain Split, and apparently Poe had greatly misunderstand the state of exhaustion and pain Blizzard was in, the Sableye instantly fainting as a result of their 'pain' being equalized. He would be fine, but if one thing was for certain this was certainly Sub's Pokemon.

"...what...what just happened?" I asked, confused by what just transpired before me. I could only assume that he did Dream Eat me, and was that...a Pain Split?

"Maaachaa?"

"Sub's crazy Pokemon, that's what. Orderly, take Mr. Poe here...get a revive from the back and get him back up." Doc said. "Make sure that there's nothing extensive that cropped up from that stunt."

"Maacha." Orderly said, carrying off Poe on Doc's Orders.

"What about you? How are you feeling?"

"We'll...don't think I want to go back to sleep again. Don't know if that was from the Pain Split or Poe getting any more wild ideas..." I said to Doc.

"Probably a good thing. If you don't mind, I'd like for you to take a shower. When Orderly is done with Poe, he can help you to the shower stall." Doc said.

"You have no idea how awkward it is having a muscle-bound Pokemon like that outside that stall watching you shower."

"You're the one who makes it awkward." Doc said, rather deadpan.

Shortly after Poe was hauled off to be revived by Orderly his trainer would enter the room, nose buried in his SNAG. He would tap away at the screen for a good few seconds before he lift his head up to acknowledged Doc Owl and Blizzard.

"Poe making trouble down here? GRAY said he was sucking things out of Blizz or something to that effect? Sorry, was only paying half attention. Been super busy getting caught up on work after the cup." He said as he pocketed his SNAG.

"Poe used Dream Eater on me while I was asleep." I spoke up.

"Then tried to make up for it by using Pain Split, not really taking into account what Blizzard had went through. Orderly is tending to Poe now." Doc said.

"What...exactly have I missed here that got you neck deep in work?" I asked Sub.

"What...exactly have I missed here that got you neck deep in work?" I asked Sub.

"Well that is a much better explanation than what I got out of GRAY..." Sub said. "Oh, that. Yeah, just the usual I guess. Bills, finances, and so forth. That trip to the Galar was expensive, very expensive. Furthermore the Indigo Alliance has dissolved now that the war is over and is asking us to pay our share of the war expenses. Stuff we destroyed, looted items, stuff like that. The new Republic of Kalos insists we were excessive in destruction and unfortunately for us Unova decided to take their back in the ordeal, particularly for what happened with Black City. No good deed, right? And it's not like I could blame Rocket for the looting, they weren't suppose to be there." He sighed.

"So to stay on good terms and keep our names out of the public with this mess, and keep up our air of legitimacy and new contracts, we had to cut a deal to reimburse the affected regions. Unfortunately it's a lot. And I mean a lot." He explained to Blizzard.

"..." I could only help but to stare in a bit of frustration. In a lot of those cases, there was no helping any of that if Ein was involved. "No good deed is right." I said. "I'm going to guess there's going to be a lot of oversight from here on to make sure we don't break something that doesn't need breaking."

"I'm honestly surprised such a thing hasn't happen sooner if that'd be the case." Doc spoke up, pushing his glasses up some.

"You're taking their side too?" I said.

"Don't get the wrong idea. As crazy as I see you lot, there is no denying the good you do. That said, there'd be a time where the wanton destruction isn't going to be excused. All it takes is that one voice to ruin all that you do and build up for. You'd be surprised how such a thing can be a catastrophic domino effect. A tiny spark to become a roaring wild fire. Pick your metaphor. No better example of that than your personal nemesis in Lysandre." Doc said. "Explain how he was able to do what he has done and why it took so long to remove him from power...let alone from this mortal coil?"

"Point taken..." I said, a bit defeated on that note. "That said, on the flip side of the coin, I don't like the idea of a bureaucrat treating us like an attack dog." I said. "When things happen that could have been avoided by your action, and you don't take it, they happen because if you." I said.

"I know your attitude about the prospects of power, Blizzard, but at the same time, you are also one that preaches about balance in things. What would be the time to act on a situation? What of an alternative form of action?" I really didn't have an answer to it. Deep down, I knew it was a case by case basis. Problem is, each person is going to have a different opinion as to do what whenever. My time to act, for instance could be much sooner or later than say how Sub would want to proceed, for instance.

"God, I didn't need this today..." I said, rubbing my eyes in irritation.

"Don't worry yourself over it at the moment. You need to focus on healing. We'll manage in the mean time. Just get fighting fit again so we can pay our bills." Sub said with a chuckle, though he was partially serious. We was going to need the entire team if they were to pay back what the other regions expected out of them. Then there was the other part Blizzard alluded to, that is the new rules of engagement and other regulations the regions are now trying to enforce upon them. He did not like them himself but for once Sub was trying to fly straight, but boy was it hard.

"Any who, Orderly done with Poe yet?" He asked, looking around.

Doc would check his watch near instinctively, it had been a few minutes. The revive should have probably kicked right about now. "Orderly, how is Poe?" Doc called out down the hall.

"Machamachaa Maaaaachamp!"

"...Sub is in here, I'll have him take Poe then when he's done in here." Doc said, looking back at Sub. "You'll probably have to take him out of here. Poe's apparently got a severe case of lethargy, probably still reeling from that Pain Split from earlier. The Revive isn't probably helping that case too much either, but at least he's up again."

Sub turned his head in the direction of Orderly's voice, expecting to hear Poe next but did not. The reason why he didn't was soon explained the good doctor, the human in the room nodding in response before heading towards the door, stopping in the doorway and turning to face the pair of hybrids. "Once doc gives you the discharge to get back on field duty we'll talk some more about the predicament we're in, the team and you personally with your interdimensional friends. I have some ideas. So get him fighting fit, doc." Sub said to them both with a grin, winking at Blizzard before leaving to fetch Poe.

"At this point it'll be up to Blizzard." Doc said. "But consider it done all the same." The Doc pushed up his glasses. "Now, as for you..."

"Shower. Right." I said, sitting up and shifting myself, sitting on the edge of the bed.

As he was helping me up, Freth found her way back into the med lab. "Hey, how's it going?"

"Ah, Freth. You know, perhaps better you go along so Blizzard doesn't complain as much." Doc spoke up.

"Whaa...?"

"He needs help getting to the shower stall. Its been a couple of days and probably high time to get the sheets changed anyhow." Doc said. "And Orderly is helping Sub out with his Sableye at this second. Not to mention, Blizzard makes it awkward when Orderly is the one trying to help him."

"Really, Doc?"

Freth would only stare at me for a second with a rather deadpan look. "Okay, I know you hate being on bed rest, but for the love of God, Blizzard, don't take it out on the Pokemon help."

"I'm not! I-..." I noticed something just then, staring at Freth in confusion. I noticed the white down out the top of her shirt, then her face...I wasn't entirely certain...if I was actually seeing it right.

"What?"

"Come into the light some." I said, pulling her back some under the overhead lights on the ceiling. "Freth..." I then said, reaching up, rubbing my thumb across her cheek, as if I could swear something was on her face.

"What?" Freth spoke up again.

"Show me your arm." I said.

She stared at me for a second then held out her arm for a second, holding up her sleeve. I put my arm right next to it, taking a good look at it. "What is it?" Freth then demanded.

"...your feathers are a couple of shades darker than normal...have you been in something?"

"Huh..." Freth never really noticed. "No?" Freth said. "I've haven't done much of anything other than take a shower myself this morning. But that...wouldn't have done anything like that unless I was fresh out and my feathers were still damp." She said.

I gave Doc the side eye, wondering if there was anything off about it. "Why are you looking at me?" Doc asked. "Maybe her feathers have been like that for a while and you never noticed until now. There's nothing wrong as far as I am concerned."

"I think your paranoia skyrocketed after the beating, Blizzard. Relax, I'm fine." Freth said, a fair bit irritated. "Now come on, a shower probably would do you good."

"Yea, I guess..." I said.

Sub couldn't help but roll his eyes and scoff to himself as he saw Poe, coherent but still kind of out of it. The imp had put himself in this situation, though the trainer wasn't too surprised. Accepting the Pokemon from Orderly Sub slung Poe over his shoulder, resting his mostly limp body there while he fished his Dusk Ball out and recalled the Pokemon to the device, stashing it away soon after.

"Thanks. Sorry for the trouble." He told the Machamp after recalling Poe. Patting the muscular creature on the shoulder he walked off. He had more work to take care of.

Freth would escort me to a back room in the medlab where there was in fact the whole bathroom amenities, at least as many as a medical area would need, rather it be for decontamination or at least just to get a patient cleaned up. A tub for those who couldn't stand, a shower stall for those who could. A Sink, shelves with a couple of towels and other medical needs just in case, and so on. I'd strip down out of the medical gown that I was in and step in, proceeding to slowly get myself freshened up.

Freth stood outside the stall, taking a look at herself in a mirror above the sink, thinking back to the earlier comment about her feathers looking a tad darker for some odd reason. She didn't really think anything of it though and it wasn't like that either one of us paid any extensive attention. Freth scratched at her wrist again, near reflexively at the itch that had lingered there for a bit. Freth looked at her wrist, wondering if she found her way into poison ivy or she got an allergic reaction to something. She started to realize that it hadn't really gone away. It was probably nothing, though, either way. It wasn't really a bother.

"You know, maybe while you're doing that, we can get a few minutes to talk while you are still conscious." Freth said. "You know, catch up a little."

"Yea, I'm game. What about?" I spoke up from the shower, talking over the water that was falling on me and onto floor of the stall.

"Well, I think I best warn you of one thing at the very least: Tristen got a bit upset with you back in Galar." Freth replied.

"What? Why?"

"Well, the straw that kind of broke the proverbial Camerupt's back was when you stopped him from going after Horus." she spoke up.

"Wait, really? I thought I did him a favor. I mean, hell, he got to be in the final parts of the tournament. Besides, if nothing else I was trying to think strategically in all of that."

"You probably were. But be honest, Blizzard. While it would have been nice to win, what were we really getting out of being in there? That was nothing more than a leisure trip. We had nothing that grand to gain out of it. That was a loss that wasn't going to kill us." Freth said to me. "Even if Horus beaten the hell out of Tristen, at least he got to try and fully stress test what he was capable of. Tristen hadn't had the opportunity to do much since he evolved."

"Tristen also had a massive chip on his shoulder when it came to Horus." I interjected. "Which I don't know why other than Horus borderline bullied him both times he's dealt with him. In competitions like that tournament no less. That was a bit uncharacteristic of him letting a grudge get the better of his judgment."

"Do you think it was a vendetta?" Freth asked.

"Had to have been. I can't see it any other way." I said.

"I don't know. I figure it was more the fact that in the grand scheme of things of the tournament, at least up until that point, he didn't really do anything major for the competition and, souring his mood further, if you recall, we ended up losing Crystal to that abomination." She said. "At that point, probably wanted anything to feel like he wasn't dead weight."

"Fighting Horus wasn't going to help in that." I said.

"In the grand picture, probably not, but back to my original point, what would of had it hurt? Our chances? Like I said, apart from time off, we were really getting nothing other than bragging rights to several regions. Realistically, we went there to say we did, and nothing more and if we come out with the massive win over it all, then great. Otherwise, no big deal." Freth said.

"I guess point taken." I said to her.

"Barring all of that, we had all 'guns' trained on us from the get go thanks to our contributions to that war with Lysandre and Ein. We're famous."

"Infamous would be the more proper term if what Sub said to me is right."

"Wait, 'infamous'? Why?" Freth asked.

----------------------------------------------

While there was a long discussion about the brief conversation that Sub and I had before Freth showed back up into the med lab, Tristen found his way back into the headquarters, a bit forlorn with all considered. After the many things that had gone wrong in the time the team was in Galar, he felt relieved coming back to the headquarters after the stint in Galar. Between a father figure that ended up having to cut the vacation short, losing a team member, dealing with a shadow Pokemon that nearly killed him by turning one of his strengths into a weakness in short order, among other things, it was finally nice to be back at a place to call home, a bed to take shelter in and sleep off the frustrations and the jet lag.

Not long after Sub excited the med lab, and dealt with Poe, he ended up crossing paths with Tristen, or rather caught glimpse of the boy as he entered the building. Noting how haggard the hybrid looked he decided to approach him and see how he was doing. "Hey there, Tristen." Sub called out, waving at the boy before approaching.

"How ya doing kid? Been awhile since we got to talk, though not all that long since I last saw you. I've been glued to the screen whenever you took to the field in the tournament. May not have gone all the way but you were kicking some serious tail out there. I'm proud of you." The man beamed with pride for the kid.

Tristen's attention would be pulled towards Sub when the leader called for him. The Manetric hybrid sort of knew what he was trying to do. At the very least, trying to pull out the positives in that excursion instead of focusing on the rather extreme negatives that cropped up all tournament. "Oh yea, uh, thanks." Tristen said to Sub. "Aden helped a lot in that too in the end, honestly. I guess that's what happens when you have the same teacher in Pokemon battling. Uh...how...is Blizz doing?"
