Tristen couldn’t help but to laugh a little when the boys got excited, but even he clammed up once Mr. Sanguaro made his presence known in the lunch room once again. Tristen has the feeling that this wasn’t an uncommon occurrence with these two. Though, to his recollection, Matteo kept the reigns on these two. The thing that caught Tristen by surprise was when Penny actually wanted to come along as well. Talk about an outing. Hey, anything that gets Penny outside more, though hopefully not so glued to her phone. Also perhaps to get to know Camp as well. Anything to get to know more people and make more friends as far as he was concerned. Tristen couldn’t help but to sweatdrop at Penny being beckoned by whatever the message that pulled her away. For someone so introverted, he was left to wonder just who on earth could she be messaging via her phone so much. Let alone the fact that she has such a one-track mind that she’d forget her lunch tray.

The Manetric hybrid then paid back attention to Fela as she brought up Cortondo. He remembered his adoptive father heading there first and last he heard he was long since gone from there on his Victory Road tour so it should be relatively fine to head there. Though bringing up Squakabilly Taxis or riding Cyclizar actually got him to realize something that he never really thought about until now. “Um, Squakabilly is fine, but uh…I got a question. I didn’t think about it until now until you brought it up. I’ve noticed that no one uses their own Pokémon really to get around. Like, if you had a flying Pokémon big enough, trainers back at home actually fly around on them instead.” Tristen said. “I’ve rode around on Dragonite more than once myself. Do they not do that here or do you not have Pokémon that become big enough to do that? Then again, I heard about the Alola region one time not really allowing that themselves. Something about the air space…I don’t remember…” Tristen couldn’t help but to scratch his head in confusion. Then another realization occurred to Tristen. “Wait, trainer licenses?” He’d look towards B in confusion. “You got at least three strong Pokémon that you got to perform with last Saturday and you didn’t have a trainers license?” Is this a regional difference thing, Tristen could only wonder.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 12, 2024 3:09 pm

"I can answer that!" E. shouted, throwing his hand up in the air as if he was in class and wanted to answer a question. Fela gave him a confused look however his brother B. just rolled his eyes, perhaps knowing where this was going. "Years ago when the Alola region opened itself up to tourism they had also exported their own highly successful environmental regulations, those pertaining to the preservation of Pokemon habitats by limiting the usage of trainer owned Pokemon in the wilds, Alola claiming the free use of non-native Pokemon damages ecosystem. These regulations were adapted in the Western Regions such as Galar and our own region of Paldea and also have made inroads into Kalos. The Indigo Chain regions have been highly resistant to efforts to make these regulations global citing Pokemon trainer traditions."

Fela would stare at E. in disbelief, dumbfounded that all those words came out of the mouth of such a young child, let alone one as hyper active and chaotic as E. B. however seemed less impressed or surprised and instead grumble about it. "E. is a nerd about nature stuffs." B. huffed. E. just stuck his tongue out at him.

Then came Tristen's other question which Fela decided to speak up on, to change the topic away from E. sudden spiel. "Like most regions you have to be at least ten to receive a trainer's license which is typically needed to freely own Pokemon and take on the Pokemon League of your region. In Paldea this requirement can be circumvented for those under ten by enrolling in the academy. However the academy does place certain rules and limitations on these kids, that is what Pokemon they can own, where they can use them, and so forth. And most importantly they can't earn badges yet. So by the time B. gets his trainer's license he'll be a threat to the entire league." Fela said, looking to the mouse boy with a smile. B. beamed happily.

Tristen couldn’t help but to stare a bit stunned at B as he recited all manner of trivia pertaining to Paldea and Alola’s banning of free roaming of trainer owned Pokémon in such fashions. Tristen had a hard time though coming to understand Alola’s alleged reasoning for it, let alone Paldea’s or Galar’s. Were there bad actors that lead to it? All the same, the only reason the likes of the Indigo chain hadn’t done so was because of merely tradition? Was that all? Then again, Jhoto in particular doesn’t seem to have places like Mezagoza for instance. In fact, closest place would be Goldenrod City, and he doubted that they’d compare. Probably in years down the road they’d be comparable, but until then… “Huh, I didn’t know that…” Tristen said, rubbing the back of his head. Incidentally, he wouldn’t dream of letting something like Dragonite wreck any havoc, intentionally or otherwise. For that matter, it was probably a good thing he didn’t get Dragonite out to take him off to the beach over the weekend. He was tempted, admittedly, but opted against it figuring to give Dragonite a bit of a day off, especially after a harsh battle the day before. Talk about a proverbial bullet dodged…

He then looked over towards Fela, finding out the conditions as to how someone like B was able to train Pokémon himself. Apparently, it was a provisional license, in a sense. One that allows him to battle like he did over the weekend, provided it was under the supervision of the academy. Tristen recalled about how his adoptive father did teach those ten and under himself back at the gym, in essence to prepare them for their Pokémon gym journey once they did make it to ten years of age. They didn’t actually get to train Pokémon, that he recalled, but they were taught various things such as taking care of a Pokémon and how to rough it out on the trail between their gym battles. The differences between the regions were becoming more and more apparent the more he stayed here and it actually fascinated the Manetric hybrid. “Threat is right…” Tristen said, rubbing the back of his head. “I guess I still got a lot to learn around here.”

Tristen would proceed to polish off his lunch then looked at a clock at the far wall. “Well, look likes class is about to start. See you in science?” Tristen said to Fela.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 13, 2024 5:01 pm

Fela looked at the clock and perked up as she registered what time it was, turning to the boys and imploring them to clean up their mess. Turning back to Tristen she spoke. "Yeah, of course! I can't wait to tell Mr. Jacq about Scatter- Spewpa's progress. Unless you want to wait until it's time to turn it in then I'm okay with that. Either way, see you in science! Come on, E., B., let's get this all together so we can get out of here..." She said to Tristen before turning to the twins.

"Okay okay! Bye bye Tristen!" E. said to Tristen before grabbing his tray and walking off.

"Yeah! Bye bye!" B. concurred before hurriedly following after his twin, Fela not far behind.

Looks like it was time for third period.

Tristen would get his area cleaned up and gathered his things as well then would proceed off. Before making his way to Mr. Jacq’s class, he would make his way off to the restroom. He would proceed to do his business and get cleaned up, only to realize that this afternoon after class was going to be probably a little hectic. Especially if B and E were involved. He was left to wonder if things were different if Matteo would have went along with them too. Probably not, now that he thought about it. He would sigh at the thought from it, only to think once again he really didn’t want any of this to happen. He started to wonder if things got any worse from here if he would end up having to spill about things he really didn’t want to fess up to. Like being a Snagem to begin with. While technically, he never told any lies sans not telling Matteo that he also had a Thunderbolt attack up his proverbial sleeve, there was perhaps only so long he could dance around and avoid the subject.

He would soon make his way out of the restroom and off for the next class.

Arriving at Mr. Jacq's room Tristen would find Fela already seated, having made it there before him and giving his partner a little wave as he appeared in the doorway. He'd also take note that Penny was missing but Camp wasn't, was she running late? Odd but not too unprecedented, Penny was known to be late to things, often getting wrapped up in whatever interested her on her phone or computer. Speaking of there was another late, though it was to be expected, the teacher himself no where to be found.

"Hey Tristen! Fancy meeting you here!" Fela greeted the boy as he sat down, cracking a joke, that being they had just seen one another. "So, what did I miss?" She asked with a giggle, continuing her joke.

Several minutes would pass and the bell would ring with no Penny nor Mr. Jacq, again the later not being unusual. Two minutes after the bell rang Mr. Jacq would come rushing in, disheveled like normal and carrying way too much stuff, throwing it all on his desk before turning to close the door behind except... "I'm sorry Mr. Jacq! I lost track of time!" Penny apologized as she squeezed through the partially opened door, hurriedly scurrying to her desk with her head hanging in shame. Camp would giggle slightly as she sat down. Mr. Jacq however didn't seem to care, he was too focused on getting class started.

"So class, before we begin with today's lesson I thought on Mondays we could take the time to check in on the Scatterbugs. Anyone want to show off their progressive? Give an interesting tidbit of information on how things have been going?" Mr. Jacq asked, scanning the room to see if anyone would speak up and if he didn't he'd do what all teachers do and single someone out, it was less of a question and more of a demand.

As Tristen found his way to Mr. Jacq’s class once more, he would head off towards Fela and sat down nearby. “You didn’t miss too much from here. Mr. Jacq gave us a work packet to work on back on Monday that wasn’t too hard. I don’t know if he is going to get you to do it though to make up for your missing day though…he didn’t say anything about it.” Tristen said to her. The two would continue to converse, but Tristen had noticed Penny not being here. Was she still on that call or whatever that got her to leave the lunch room so abruptly? He was almost left to wonder just who in the world she talks to. It wasn’t any of his business, mind, but there couldn’t be anyone that important that she needed to talk to that made her stay out of the classroom late, is there? Speaking of, he is once again left to wonder just how a teacher can get away for being disorganized as he is. All the others seem to be on top of everything, other than Ms. Raifort that is but she apparently has an excuse for the time being.

Fela and Tristen would have carried on until Tristen looked back seeing Mr. Jacq plow through the door with a multitude of things in tow. Penny would make it seemingly in the nick of time just before Mr. Jacq closed the door on her. At least she did make it. As much as he liked Penny, Tristen had to admit she was rather weird. Or was this normal? If anyone else is any consideration in this school, probably not. Tristen got his things out and allowed Mr. Jacq his undivided attention, just as he makes it a point to do, ready to take notes on the lesson of the day. With that said, the lesson was going to be put on hold for a few minutes longer…Mr. Jacq was wanting an update on everyone’s science project. Despite being given a month to complete the assignment, Tristen is figuring that Mr. Jacq is making sure that every Pokémon is being taken care of. What kind of teacher would he be if he wasn’t? “Still got the Premier Ball?” Tristen asked Fela whispering as to try to not disturb the class. He was pretty ready to go up to the front…
PostPosted: Tue Oct 15, 2024 6:05 pm

"Oh! Yes! Here you go. You did most of the work after all..." Fela whispered as she fumbled around and dug out the Premier Ball, promptly handing it to Tristen.

While they thought they were being quiet and inconspicuous the teacher, Mr. Jacq, immediately locked in on them, registering their talking and movement and smiled at them. "Fela, Tristen, would you like to show us your project, please? I assume you brought your Scatterbug with you to class." He said. Their Scatterbug? No, no they did not.

As Tristen managed to get the Premier Ball from Fela, Tristen nearly jumped in his seat. He wasn’t sure if he is being called out because of him not being discreet enough or if their call out was just random call out. He didn’t expect to be called out like that, let alone so soon. Either way, it wasn’t of any consequence in the end. “Uh, yes sir.” Tristen said, taking the Premier Ball to the front of the class. He would make it to the front and at the large table at the front of the room near the board at the front of the class, figuring that he needed to make sure that the Pokémon was able to be seen by everyone, let alone Mr. Jacq and just letting Spewpa out on the floor wasn’t going to cut it. “Alright then, uh…” he quickly looked back at Fela for a second then popped the Premier Ball open to release Spewpa out on the table, awaiting judgment by the teacher and the class at large.

"Spew-paaa!" Chimed the little Bug type, stretching and wiggling its body upward as if to make itself more visible, as if it knew exactly why it was being released and decided to make as flash of an appearance as possible. Fela giggled at its little display.

The class audibly gasped, though not in a bad one, the kind of gasp that indicated pleasant surprise. The teacher himself, Mr, Jacq, also gave a shocked expression, his mouth just ever so slightly agape for a brief second before he pulled it back up into a smile. "A Spewpa! Our first Spewpa! Excellent work Triste, Fela!" Mr. Jacq declared, clapping his hands together with vigor as he applauded Tristen and Fela, a majority of the class clapping for them as well.

"I cannot believe how quick you two managed to evolve your Scatterbug. I think in recent memory only Nemona did it faster..." He said, walking up to Spewpa to get a good look at it, walking around the table and leaning in at times to examine each part of the bug. Spewpa however felt a little vulnerable when it came time to be visually explored and started to shrink down into its coat. "Very healthy too, its coat looks beautiful, very full. You must have been feeding it well. I don't think I've ever seen such a high quality bug specimen." He commented further.

Pleased with what he saw he stood by Tristen and put a hand on his shoulder as he faced the class. "Young Tristen and his partner Fela have already earned a one hundred for the Scatterbug project!" He declared, the class clapping again for them, less so this time as no doubt there was a hint of jealousy but hey, they were all kids here. "Now..." He said, looking to Tristen but speaking up so Fela can hear too. "...if you would like I can offer you both extra credit if you can manage to evolve it into a Vivillon before the original deadline. That is a free one hundred, think you two are up to the challenge?" He asked Tristen directly but it was aimed at Fela too who was now looking at Tristen.

“Uh, yes sir.” Tristen said. “Not only we were keeping careful care of Spewpa from the start, we were finding some Pokémon battles as well. And to help out with that…” Tristen took out his own Pokeball and released the Pokémon inside of it, out onto the table next to Spewpa, and something that might catch Camp’s attention in particular. Wimpod would soon materialize next to Spewpa, but as soon as it was out, Wimpod’s attennae shot straight up as he looked out at the class. So. Many. People. Wimpod was already ready to wimp out and retreat back into the ball. “Take it easy, Wimpod, we’re in good company. Wimpod here has been Spewpa’s battling partner, to practice with and to battle alongside with. These two have done pretty well with each other.” Well, their grade was assured. Perfect score. But just as Mr. Jacq brought up at the start of this assignment a week ago, now came the topic of extra credit. Tristen looked back towards Fela for a second, who apparently was wanting Tristen to answer. Tristen nodded in response. “We were already wanting to do that and Spewpa is really anxious to get wings as well. Aren’t you Spewpa?” Tristen said, rubbing Spewpa’s head to put the bug at ease over Mr. Jacq’s inspection of the bug. Though as Tristen took note to the class, there was a slight bit of animosity that started to come about the air. Tristen wasn’t sure if it was jealousy or if by chance certain members of the class expected as such, especially with his performance against Nemona over the weekend. After showing off a rambunctious dino, a hard-hitting fighting weasel, and a dragon, raising a bug was probably not going to be all that much of a challenge if they had to suspect. Who knows, maybe Wimpod could evolve alongside as well as they were trying to raise Spewpa.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 17, 2024 3:09 pm

Camp did indeed perk up as Wimpod came out, the boy rising slightly in his seat and leaning forward over so slightly as if to get a better look at the bug without actually standing up and walking over. It was fine, he could always bug Tristen to show him his Wimpod later.

Mr. Jacq smiled as Wimpod came out, acknowledging the bug with a smile but knew well enough not to try and reach for it, the species was very flighty and he didn't feel like having a startled Wimpod run around his classroom in a panic. Once Tristen confirmed that they indeed planned on evolving Spewpa further he smile wide and gave Tristen another pat on the shoulder.

"Good! I'm so proud of both of you! You are both excellent trainers! I can't wait to see what wings our friend Spewpa here might gain. Oh, did I tell you that class? These Scatterbug were bred from all across the world so it's possible for them all to have different wing patterns. Maybe that could motivate more of you to evolve your bug fully, I sure hope so! Any who, thank you Tristen, you may recall your Pokemon and sit down." The teacher said before taking his place in front of the class again. Once Tristen was seated and situated he'd call another up to show off their Scatterbug.

Eventually they would go through everyone's Scatterbugs and by the time that was done roughly half of class time had passed. Mr. Jacq would then turn them to the proper lesson for the day which was really just giving them the run down on the homework for tonight which pertained to Level Up moves, that is how some Pokemon can learn stronger moves if you hold off on evolution. That was certainly something Tristen already knew about however he'd receive his worksheet for the night and what pages in his textbook to look at like everyone else.

Once that was done the bell would ring, releasing the class to their final period of the day. As they filed out Fela would say goodbye to Tristen and reconfirm if they were meeting up after class. Once that was done she was off to finish the day herself. Time for PE.

Tristen would recall Spewpa and Wimpod back to their respective balls then proceeded to return Spewpa back to Fela for the time being, figuring that she was wanting to keep up with the bug still. He was suddenly reminded though now that he thought about it the multitude of things that Fela left before her trip to Kalos in Tristen’s room for Spewpa was still in his dorm. Fortunately, that wasn’t going to be too much of a concern for the time being. Fela could just take the minor detour to his dorm to pick up Spewpa’s things before she headed off for the night herself. Tristen for the time being would return to his seat next to Fela’s, rather content that they pulled off something pretty good today.

Once the class was truly on its way, now that everyone got done talking about their Scatterbugs and having it inspected by Mr. Jacq, he’d proceed to talk about the various Pokémon and their potential of ‘level up’ moves. That is, the moves a Pokémon tends to learn naturally, and how in many cases it was possibly sometimes best to try to get a Pokémon to hold off evolving to learn some of these skills as opposed to evolving right away. Tristen knew of this quite well, in fact, being with Snagem as long as he has and being trained as he did. While it was true that Pokémon generally became bigger and stronger upon evolution, it was the matter of if they had the skills that carried over from one form to another. He remembered at one time that he was told of one of the gym leaders back home, Lt. Surge in the Kanto region, evolving Pokémon super early years ago. At the time, he tried to show that he could brute strength a lot of battles, showing how shocking something say a Raichu could be for instance. The lesson though was while it was all well and good, the Raichu for instance was unable to compete in matters of speed. A weakness that got exploited more than once until Lt. Surge got the hint, for that a military man such as him is afraid to show such vulnerabilities. This lesson all the same was going to be a bit of a cake walk, Tristen figured. With a worksheet to work on this evening and a few pages of notes to follow, the class ended and it was time to go to the final period of the day.

Tristen would say his goodbyes to Fela for now, agreeing to meet out at the front of the school to get ready to go get Spewpa trained. It was time for P.E. once again with Ms. Dendra. Tristen had to admit that out of all the classes so far this week, P.E. started to be one that he hadn’t really been looking forward to going to anymore. Not so much because of the teacher or the students themselves, for the time being that is, but it was the class that apparently put Tristen at most risk of exposing what he could actually do. Compared to effectively every hybrid student and maybe even the hybrid teachers dotted here and there, Tristen had the physical ability that they effectively couldn’t touch and directly challenging Tristen was probably not going to end well. Since Matteo used Agility on his first day to outrun him, suspicions probably would have stayed on the down-low. But then B and E already made a minor scene the other day that brought attention to him briefly just on mention of how Tristen looked without his uniform jacket on. The subsequent soccer game may or may not have done him any favors either, and Tristen was purposefully trying to hold back then. As he started to approach the doors out to the recreation fields, Tristen would sigh and mentally brace for impact for whatever Ms. Dendra was set to get the class to do.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 18, 2024 2:43 pm

The doors would part open for Tristen and he was greeted by the sight of the school's courtyard, nothing unusual, trainers dotting the landscape, some just relaxing, others hanging out with their Pokemon, and a few doing school work on the benches. His eyes drifted to the area important to him at this moment, the battlefield of which they had their classes on and the track that surrounded it. On that battlefield was the gathered students for Ms. Dendra's class however they were unusually clustered together for some reason.

As Tristen neared the group he would see it was in a U shape with the class gathered around someone but allowing an open space in front of him. No doubt curiosity would get the best of the boy and he would move in closer to what this was all about, where his timing couldn't be better.

"Flamethrower! GRAH!" Matteo shouted before unleashing a massive jet of Fire from his mouth, straight in front of him, the flames not exactly a nice condensed straight line but creating a kind of cone shape. Several things were no doubt shocking to Tristen in that very moment, all of which would immediately swirl in the young hybrid's mind. First off was of course the fact that Matteo was back all the sudden, after days of mysteriously disappearing and now showing up for the last period of the day. Second was the fact he was using Flamethrower and not Ember let alone Flame Wheel which last Tristen knew was the level of Fire move Matteo was working with, and Flame Wheel was still being worked on. And third how on Earth was the young and comparatively inexperienced hybrid putting out so much raw power? Sure, the Flamethrower looked very inefficient and wild but there was a tremendous amount of power behind it, much more than he ever saw Matteo capable of.

"Tristen Tristen!" The Manetric hybrid would hear two little voices call out to him as the twins, E. and B., ran up to him from somewhere else in the crowd, almost pulling at his jacket to get his attention. "Matteo is back!" The continued to speak in unison.

"Look at how strong he is now!" E. said, pointing to Matteo and the little show of power he was putting on for the class.

"Yeah yeah! He never used Flamethrower before! Wow! He must have been training this whole time!" B. chimed in. Training? Maybe, but Tristen would be surprised that a young hybrid like Matteo, who was a pretty normal kid with no connections like Snagem to reach out to, could develop this quickly in under a week.

"Okay, that's enough." Ms. Dendra spoke up as she approached the group and Matteo himself. "Glad to have you back, Mr. Matteo, but please do not burn down the school's trees or playground equipment." She said, mildly chastising him. Matteo just kinda frowned at her before turning to the group and adding himself to the cluster of bodies, locking eyes with Tristen for a brief second but showing no other emotion on his face, his stare plain. The bell would then ring.

"Alright then let's begin class! Today I figured we would start by getting some sit ups in! Twenty each to start! Pair up!" Ms. Dendra declared. Immediately E. and B. would pair up, that was to be expected. Matteo was quick to grab his own partner as he turned to the nearest student, some tall giantess of a teenage girl. Quickly people were pairing up until...

"Uh...hi." A certain vaping student said to Tristen as they approached, still smelling of their vape which honestly smelled like gasoline fumes. What was in that vape after all? "Want to pair up? I think everyone else is uh...taken so..." Indie said, giving off a little cough to punctuate their sentence.

Tristen would clear the doors and start his way across the fields to make his way to his class, but then something caught his attention near immediately. The field lighting up with the massive plume of fire. Tristen would be stunned, seeing Matteo finally make his appearance after being gone for almost four straight days suddenly trying to show off here in this very class. Tristen couldn’t really bring himself to answer B and E, not out of any sort of malice, but out of blatant confusion. Tristen’s mind wracked with just why in the world he was gone until now. For training? Was that even something excusable at this academy? Other than Pokémon Training and doing the Victory Road course Tristen doubted it, just as much as he doubted it was in fact training at all. Even if it was any sort of training, Tristen was already noting a couple of issues Matteo was doing with his Flamethrower attack. There wasn’t any sort of control at all with it. The flames weren’t that hot for one and he was straining to get such a large plume out. It was more flash than substance, something that Tristen recalled himself having issue with his Thunderbolt attack when he was learning it when he was younger, among other things. That level of an attack such as that takes a lot of skill and focus to pull off, let alone the capacity to unleash an actual certified Flamethrower, something that needed to be trained more than a mere three days. Sure, it could do damage, presumably, but not as much as Matteo would hope for if he decided to ever use it as it is now. It looked as volatile, if not as near unreliable, as Matteo’s Agility. It started to look he was trying to show off and try to be that ‘top dog’ again, as if he or Tristen ever were to begin with. It was the only thing he could possibly think of to go out of his way to only come to this class for the day.

Tristen could only watch as Matteo make his way back into the student line-up as directed by Ms. Dendra, confusion still wracked on the Manetric hybrid’s face, leaving him to wonder if that was the only reason why he was out? For that matter, where could he have gone to even learn a Flamethrower attack to begin with in such short time? Let alone out of contact of anyone? Tristen was ready to ask the Growlithe hybrid where in the world did he go and why, but Tristen had the foreboding feeling as Matteo locked eyes on him for that brief instant, going to him right away might not be the best idea. He had the feeling that Matteo was still sore with Tristen for the battle Saturday when Tristen was already wanting to put the whole incident behind him. A foreboding feeling came over the Manetric hybrid…a feeling things were going to come to a head sometime soon…

Tristen started to look about to see about someone to pair up with, but with people so quick to act, he didn’t really get too much of a choice. Indie, the vape-sucking Poison type trainer that Tristen faced back on Saturday, came up to him to partner with. And much to Tristen’s chagrin, he smelled as rancid as that Revaroom he sent out for that matter. The smell of oil and diesel fumes. “Uh, yea…” Tristen looked about once more to make sure, then looked back towards Indie. “I don’t think you and I got too much of a choice…” He said. So, sit-ups? Twenty of them? Calling it a cakewalk did it no justice. Though he never have someone that smelled as Indie did nearby when he did so. Tristen nearly wanted to gag, his canine sense of smell weeping for mercy over the odor of this guy. “You want to start or you want me to?” Tristen managed to then speak up.
