The trip was…. Semi-smooth. Lafayette had dropped back home to return his armor and swap back to his proper everyday clothing and retrieve his tools. It was nice spending some time with his family, especially if his mother was cooking but ultimately he had to be on his way. The trip to Santalune was alright until, well, landing happened in which Dova nearly spiraled and slammed the pair of them into the stone pathway of the ground. If the Noivern was going to continue to have issues with flying with a person on her back then he was going to need to invest in someone else for flying purposes.
With a sigh of agitation, he returned the bat to her ball and headed in the direction of the pokemon center. He was to sit down and wait before doing anything further; which pretty much meant there was a scolding coming his way. Or bitching. Or whatever else was on Juliean’s mind. And then maybe some confirmation on what he was supposed to be doing. But he was mostly expecting to be getting yelled at for his detour. Ah well. He took a breath and headed his way towards the center, taking in the sights as he did. At least the town was nice.

The wait was kind of a long one. In that time, he put his hair back up and put the headband back on his head before going over to sit at one of the tables to wait. Eventually, Moyasu rejoined him and he looked around. Not seeing Kaien, Shinri frowned and walked over to the counter before the nurse could make a call."Where's Kaien?""Who?""The Zorua. His name's Kaien. Where is he? Is he hurt?"The pink-haired nurse looked at him with both surprise and suspicion. For Arceus's sake; he could already tell where this was going."He's not registered to a pokeball. I assume he's wild? I was about to call a ranger to take him to preservation.""I asked you to make sure he wasn't hurt, not send him off to some false sanctuary. I'm already working on getting him home where he belongs, so hand him over."She started to go on about how she couldn't just hand over a wild species as rare as Zorua to a trainer since they were, as mentioned, rare and that made them valuable, but Shinri wasn't having any of it. With Moyasu following, he went into the back to find the fox himself. Was he making a very good first impression? Not really. But, when it came down to choosing between his family or human society, it wasn't even a fight.

They went a little ways down the road until he finally came to a pause at a fork in the road. He took a moment to examine their surroundings, noting a Roselia-shaped fountain occupying the center of the city. It was quite quant if he had to say so himself.
Turning to Elizabeth, he placed a hand to his chest and gave a bow. "I believe this is where will part ways. It was pleasure to make your acquaintance and thank you for company." He straightened up offering a soft sort of smile. "I should hope our paths cross again someday. Au revoir, madame Elizabeth. Do take care." He ended, hand dropping back to his side. Hopefully her journey would be as eventful as she hoped and whatever other situations she seemed to be dealing with found themselves a conclusion; a good one preferably.

Elizabeth had walked with Ashe through the gate, now arriving in Santalune City. She smiled as she saw the Roselia-shaped fountain in the center, finding that to be pretty cool. Then she heard as he told her that this is where they have to part, bowing before thanking her for the company and how it was a pleasure to meet her. He mentioned that he hoped they cross paths again someday and saying goodbye, telling her to take care. "Alright. Thank you very much as well for the company. It was very nice to meet you as well. Yes, I really hope that we do see each other again, especially if you do decide to take on the gyms too. Goodbye and you take care as well, Ashe." Elizabeth said back to him as she smiled and curtsied before waving goodbye. Then she walked off, exploring the city as she sighed. Now she was back to being alone on her journey again, thinking about what she would have to do next since she is here in Santalune City.

Ashley smiled and waved as he and Elizabeth parted ways, turning and focusing on the situation at hand. He looked to his watch once more as he walked a little bit away. With the pleasantries aside, it was time to get back to business. "Octave," he commented, tone now serious. Soon the screen flickered to life in response. "Where is monsieur Lyndon?" The screen flickered again, a map suddenly occupying the screen before blip soon appeared near one of the nearby buildings. He looked up and noted what appeared to be a small café right on the corner where the blip was at. "Here sir."
"Merci Octave." Ashley responded with a nod. Dropping his wrist back to his side he started to move. It didn’t take him long to arrive and see himself inside without the assistance of the staff. It didn’t take the French man long to spot who he was looking for either and without hesitation, headed over to take a seat.

"Bonjour monsieur Lyndon. It is a pleasure to see you out and about." Ashley greeted, pulling out the seat opposite the man at the table and promptly sitting down. Carefully he set the case next to his seat and scooched forward, folding his hands on top of the table as he looked over the top of his glasses at the form in front of him. The menu that was concealing the man’s face folded and dropped down, the dirty blonde frowning in agitation.
”….Hello Fontaine.” His tone was less than thrilled, a fact that evoked an eye quirk from Ashley. He maintained his composure though, giving a little nod at the Interpol agent. "I am happy you are so delighted to see me. Please, there is no reason to gush." He mused. That just earned him an even fiercer glare as the menu was snapped shut and slammed on the table. Lyndon shifted in his seat to straighten up and stare the other man down. ”… I don’t have time for your bullshit, Fontaine. Just cut it now.” He almost snapped back.

"Well that is certainly not zee friendly greeting of a man looking for a job to be done." Ashley remarked. Lyndon didn’t seem to care much for that statement and it showed on his face as his gaze narrowed. He didn’t bother putting his feelings to words though, instead reaching down under the table and roughly slamming two small crates on top, which Ashley eyed with slight interest. "A gift for me? Well I suppose that makes up for your rudeness."
”Shut up.” Was Lyndon’s curt response as he shoved the boxes a bit across the table. Ashley just smirked a little, reaching out and taking the pair. Without much hesitation he opened them up, smirk fading to a confused frown as he pulled out the items. TMs, a single pokeball, a book. He eyed the book. It was… some kind of fairy tale? That wasn’t even the right kind of garbage he read. This was disappointing.

"Did you get these things in a garage sale?" Ashley inquired, not a hint of gratitude in his tone. Honestly, he was a little more confused than grateful. What was with all the pokemon stuff? He hardly had a use for it.

”Well you won’t be using those for a while, so you might as well build up your team.” Lyndon’s sharp words broke the silence that had permeated after Ashley’s remark. The French man stared long and hard at the other, expression starting ambiguous save for the rather stern frown he bore. Eventually it seemed to properly dawn what was going on and his gaze narrowed.
"… You are kidding." Lyndon didn’t need to say the words, instead still tapping at the folder on the table as confirmation. Ashley’s demeanor changed to one of pure agitation, expression remaining sternly annoyed.
"I am not one of your little field rodents, monsieur Lyndon. If you do not have the target, I have other things that I should be attending too." He remarked. It was one thing to go out and have to do a little bit of locating, but the last thing he’d allow is for himself to be reduced to one of those field agent types. It was mundane, and boring work unless you were in a threatening situation which, up until recently, was hardly the case for anyone. The work had its thrill potential, but only if you were allowed to actually seek it and well, given all the things going on that was hardly likely to happen. At least, with permission.

Ashley’s expression remained in its own uninterested annoyed state. ”I don’t want to be sending you off to do this. "…. Is that so?" Ashley remarked, eyebrow quirking in slight disdain. Lyndon just gave a curt nod. ”Yes.” The French man fell silent a moment, seeming to honestly consider this course of action. On one hand; he hated it and it said so on his face. He knew that this was an odd case but he’d expected just a tad bit more leniency in getting the job done. He had tracking skills; he was fairly competent at it in fact; if they couldn’t find him through their own means, than he had his own ideas.
Which Lyndon probably wasn’t going to allow him to pursue. At least, not with his permissions. ”Yes.” Lyndon leaned back as he finished, arms folding over his chest. Ashley just stared. And stared. Finally he moved his hand from under his chin to tap the side of his head. " Excusez-moi but I must say, you do not have zee best track record of agents listening to you and your instructions, monsieur." He jeered just a bit, watching as Lyndon tensed. If it weren’t for the crowds of people occupying the restaurant he would’ve probably lashed out and smashed a fist into the French man’s face. It was probably years of training that kept him restrained and from doing such.
Ashley smirked just a bit in response, bringing his hands together in front of him as his head tilted just a bit. "But I will entertain your ego, for zee sake of this mission." He straightened up, taking the folder from the table and looking it over, ignoring the still blazing rage that he had created. "So… I assume you are sending me off as zee field agent for…,"
”To keep. An eye out.”
"I see… you assume he will be still be attempting zee ‘trainer life’ then?" Lyndon just gave a sharp nod. ”Possibly. It’s all he really has to go on. It’s worth keeping an eye out like that.” Ashley gave a lazy nod. "Alright then. I will do your petty trainer work. For now." He snapped the folder shut and lazily chucked the folder back to him. Lyndon watched with a peeved expression before taking the folder and storing it back again. ”…..Good.”
"Understand this though, monsieur Lyndon." Ashley commented, beginning to collect the items as well to add them to the satchel that accompanied him. Lyndon paused in his own actions, gaze narrowing. "Should I encounter monsieur Faraday, I will not hesitate to do my job." Tucking the last of the items away, Ashley returned his gaze forward, quirky smile on his face.
"If there are any final words you would like me to pass along to your rogue boyfriend, please let me know." Lyndon just stared, expression ambiguous. He rapped his fingers against the table top as a frown formed. Finally he just shifted and grabbed the bag from the ground, tugging it over his shoulder as he stood to his feet. ”You know Fontaine, I hope you find him.” He remarked, stopping and glancing at Ashley. ”Just so I can have a few laughs when he screws you over. You really deserve it.”
Ashley quirked an eyebrow. Well now that wasn’t very nice. Lyndon didn’t really give him a chance to give a witty response; the blonde was already exiting the place. ”I’ll contact you with any new information. Don’t get yourself killed yet.”

With that unpleasant conversation more or less done, Ashley shifted and started to move himself out as well. If he was going to be a field agent then well, so be it, though there was no hiding the disapproval on his face. He didn’t like it… in fact, he downright found it insulting. He might’ve had some semblance of respect for the men and women who took on the work, but the work itself was just… dull.
Being undercover meant being well, subtle. It meant doing things on the down low; no being obvious, no asserting your true skills. Acting in a fashion that would have you overlooked, unless the situation called for you to actually be noticed. Which really, was rare; opportunities to place agents in important roles such as administrators or agents for criminals were always sprouting up but it took a long time and sometimes, it wasn’t even worth it.
With a huff he stood up, eyebrow quirking at the sound of a yip. He glanced down to see that he’d accidentally bumped into Bastien, who was still out and about. He’d almost forgotten about the Fennekin with all the hub bub. "Pardon, mon petit." He muttered as he stood, eyeing the fox a moment. With a sigh he reached down and scooped him up under his arm and grabbed his case, leaving the café. A little ways away and they stopped at an empty bench, setting his handfuls down. He opened his bag and took a gander at the items he had before pulling out the pokedex he’d acquired and browsing it a moment. He supposed he would put the items to use. There was a gym in this city as well; he’d go and challenge it. It appeared Dandy would be getting her wish after all.

"Say hello to your team mates, Bastien." Ashley remarked as he unleashed a few of his pokemon from their pokeballs. The Fennekin perked up and stared a moment at the new forms that had appeared before him. The mega Audino placed a paw over his mouth to stifle a yawn before opening an eye to stare at the fox curiously. He lowered the paw from his mouth to the fluff under his chin to puff it before moving over a bit to eye the fox a little more.
The oddly colored Ninetales didn’t seem to care, giving a lazy look around and yawning as well before moving to rub up against Ashley. The man eyed him a moment before reaching a hand down and gently patting the other fox on the head. He took a seat and continued to browse the pokedex, the Ninetales following suit and resting his head on Ashley’s lap. Soon though, it became evident that his trainer was ignoring him and so he pulled away and lazily shifted his sight to the Audino and Fennekin.
"S’up kid. You must be the newbie." The Ninetales remarked as he all but plopped his chin down on the edge of the bench, looking lazily at the surprised Fennekin. Bastien shifted from paw to paw, looking nervously between the two. "…. Uhm…"
"At least you’re not shrimpy. That’s good." The Ninetales interjected, huffing a breath and shutting his eyes as his head remained resting on the bench seat. Bastien was confused. Well… they seemed kind of friendly? A little more than Ashley anyways…

The radio silence from his communicator after he’d landed in Santalune was a little off-putting. The ‘bleep’ on the screen had quickly disappeared from sight and Lafayette wasn’t entirely certain why. He was hanging out in the pokemon center, expecting Juliean to rear his face from the magical confines of whatever, but he didn’t. For a moment, the thought that maybe, just maybe, something had happened to his employer crossed his mind.
And then his communicator went off again. He blinked and looked down as the screen buzzed to life, indicating that he had a message. The blonde took a moment to listen and frowned as he was swiftly informed that he needed to bounce around the regions once more to collect badges. Juliean’s tone sounded a little too jubilant about the rather obnoxious task but he sighed to himself and accepted it. At least he was free to go where he wished for this, so long as he was getting the badges from the regions.
Lafayette paused in thought. He could start here if he wanted; there was a gym nearby. But the town was a little too fancy for his taste and so he decided to move somewhere else. Unleashing Dova again, he hauled up onto her back and took a wild pick of where to head, kicking the Noivern into flight before lifting off and setting out to start on the task.
