“Alright, get ready. If you need to, use another String Shot to correct yourself and pull yourself while you are still getting pulled off. The idea is to get close so you can use your other attacks like your Struggle Bug, maybe Tackle, or even your Stun Spore. We’re out to make this handicap on you not one at all. Now usually, you won’t get any warning about this, but this is just practice like I said. Now…go!” Tristen said, snatching at the String Shot and pulling hard at Spewpa’s connection. Tristen knew that this was probably going to be jarring at first; there was so much to juggle in the span of a couple of seconds, especially in the heat of battle. If Spewpa can master these maneuvers, then getting to Vivillion was going to be cake.

The first time Tristen snatched at the line Spewpa was not ready at all and went flying, the much bigger hybrid yanking the tiny little Bug type clean off its feet. Spewpa would hit the ground face first and just lay there for a bit before rolling over onto its back and looking like it was going to cry for a second then however it fought back the tears and began to struggle to get up, not asking Wimpod for help this time. It would take several seconds but Spewpa would get back on its feet, without help and without String Shot, it was learning.

Shaking its entire body to get the dirt off Spewpa would look at Tristen with a determined gaze and fired off a new line of String Shot. Once it was connected and Spewpa had a grip it would chirp at Tristen to get moving, it wanted to try again.

-----

They would perform the routine several times and at least two more times Spewpa was snatched off its feet before it finally figured out how to just let itself be carried long enough for it to pull itself along the line, that it wasn't about maintaining control but using the situation to your advantage, if his foe wanted to run then let them run, if they wanted to pull on the line then they'd just get Spewpa in their face sooner.

After much practice Spewpa was getting better at it, able to pull on the line and us momentum in its favor to throw itself at Tristen, one time even landing on his head which is actually where it now found itself landing after one more practice, after realizing it could do that the bug found it kind of fun to perch atop his head. "Spewpa pew!" It cried out happily, thrilled that it was getting this down.

"Spewpa pew!" It cried out happily, thrilled that it was getting this down.

It took a fair bit of persistence but Spewpa would be able to pull it off. Most handicapable bug ever. “That’s it!” Tristen said with a laugh as Spewpa landed on Tristen’s head. Tristen reached up and took the bug off his head, holding the Spewpa in his arms and giving a playful rub. Now this was all practice, and of course would be generally easier to do since there wasn’t anything wanting to beat the ever-loving daylights out of the bug. It also admittedly didn’t take in consideration other factors like ranged attacks, but it would be dealt with in time.

Tristen would continue working with Spewpa with Wimpod to help out where he could. From target practice, having Wimpod run around, even making him use Aqua Jet to make it all that much more difficult, to following up with the lessons like closing the gap on Wimpod when Spewpa was attached. Tristen was supportive every step of the way for Spewpa, regardless of any mistakes and mishaps. It wasn’t going to be perfect, that’s what training was for. In the process of everything, Tristen found it as a good opportunity to train Wimpod as well, trying to push Wimpod’s Aqua Jet harder to make the already speedy bug that much faster and maneuver that much better in such speed. It made things all the tougher for Spewpa to land its mark, but it was all worth it once Spewpa was starting to learn to lead its shots. That said, there was only so many times that Spewpa itself could actually fire off string shot, and after such a extensive training session, it was probably high time to actually hang it up and they’d pick up another time once Spewpa recovered. Tristen ended up realizing that it was probably going to be difficult though once Fela gets back. He’d need to bring her up to speed as to what he was actually teaching Spewpa and she to her own admission isn’t that much of a trainer. These were getting into some really advanced tactics just for the sake of getting Spewpa to handle itself as it makes progression to becoming a Vivilion. Maybe Fela would need to sit in on these training sessions once she gets back.

“Alright you two, how about we head back into town and get something to eat.” Tristen told the two. “You two did really good today. We can pick back up tomorrow after school. How about it?” He then asked the two bugs.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 29, 2024 12:17 pm

"Spewpa!" The bug chimed, happy to hear they are going to get something to eat. It had a been a long last few hours filled with plenty of training and the young bug was starving. Without missing a beat Spewpa would launch a String Shot onto Tristen's shoulder and with it threw itself up and onto Tristen's head once again, wanting to show off he could do it one last time and maybe even go for a little ride, provided the boy was okay with it. "Spew-pa!" Onward, it said.

-----

Tristen would make it back to the gates of Mesagoza however before he had a chance to pass through he would spot something, or rather someones. It was those grunts again, several of them waiting on either side of the path leading up to the gate. They were riding on the backs of lizard-like creatures, Cyclizars, some two on one. None of them said a word to Tristen, instead they just stared at him in silence, doing nothing to stop him from walking through the crowd, up to the gates, and into Mesagoza. Was this suppose to be another threatening display?

If Tristen didn't do or say anything himself he'd make it into the city fine, the grunts strangely doing nothing else other than stare. Spewpa however would be nervous all the while, trying to force itself down Tristen's shirt to hide, provided it was still out of its ball.

Once Spewpa was nice and ready perched out on Tristen’s shoulder, Tristen couldn’t help but laugh a little. A vast improvement to the spoiled brat Spewpa was being over the weekend. Tristen couldn’t help but to reach up and gave a few pats on Spewpa’s head, once again for a job well done but also for a bit of affection to the bug. Tristen then reached down and picked Wimpod up off the ground. “Come on, you too, Wimpod. You’ve been a big help today and you’re a bit tired yourself right now, aren’t you?”

“Wi-paa.” Wimpod spoke up.

“Come on, let’s go.” He said, carrying the two bugs off back for Mezagoza.

The walk back to Mezagoza was relatively peaceful. The bugs anxiously awaited for a well-earned meal as Tristen started to muse as he walked. He was trying to figure out just how to go about the next day of training for Spewpa to get the bug evolved. Was Spewpa ready enough to try Pokémon battling again? Even with Wimpod starting to do well with the practice; maybe Spewpa needs another day though probably ratch it up a little bit in the difficulty. Get some of his other Pokémon to help out with that. He wants to try to do all he can before Fela finally makes back for class again. Though he only had a day more to pull it off.

Once he started to make his way within Mezagoza, Tristen would take notice to the oddly dressed students again. Team Star. He wasn’t going to say anything to him, not if he could help it. He’d avoid eye contact with them for that matter. They weren’t worth the time nor the effort. This was Sub’s issue. Though it left him to wonder why they were out to intimidate him. What did he ever do to them in particular? Was there someone in that bunch that he upset without meaning to? Not that he recall; he tried to keep his head down for the most part. What about everything that has been going on with them? He wasn’t part of the Star raid team with Sub. Though, then again, he was left to wonder if they actually knew he was a Snagem. Was he caught with Sub earlier when the two of them talked? Or was it something else? Someone still had to have started the rumors about him being a strong trainer to begin with. What if that person, whoever it is, brought it to light. That still would bring the issue of who exactly did that? Too many questions and no answers and no hint. The only one that he could think of that had some ire to Tristen was Matteo himself. A disturbing thought then came to the Manetric hybrid…Matteo didn’t join Team Star, did he? The thought stupefied Tristen. Of all the things, he didn’t give Matteo credit for being that dumb.

Tristen would shake his head as he walked; he had no evidence to it. Circumstantial at best. Thoughts that were derailed when Spewpa started to try to hide from the unwanted stares and intimidation. “Don’t worry about it Spewpa. I won’t let anything happen to you.” He said in a low voice. “Just calm down, alright?” He said.

“Wi-paa wi-paa.” Wimpod then spoke up, sinking himself in Tristen’s arms. Apparently if anything, Wimpod was supposed to be the cowardly one in this bunch.

“Don’t you start too.” Tristen said. Spewpa was one thing, Wimpod should have known better by now.

Tristen would make it into Mesagoza just fine, Spewpa finally relaxing once they were through the gate and on the other side. As Tristen passed through he might hear the grunts on the other side making some noise as they sped off, off to cause trouble elsewhere. If it wasn't clear they were there specifically to intimidate Tristen it was clear now, else wise why would they leave so quick?

Regardless their intimidation tactics failed and Tristen and his Pokemon were safely in the city. With the sun almost disappearing past the city walls night was rapidly approaching and Tristen could see the moon coming into view on the other end of the sky. It was time to get ready for the evening.

Tristen would find his way back to the academy and once again back out into the halls. Tristen would make his way to the cafeteria to see what was on the menu and once again, it was pinchintos once again. He missed out on the opportunity to try that last week since he had a sandwich from Ms. Picante already prepared for helping out with the dishes that day, so he had no such excuse this go-round. Picking up an order to go, he would take it off once again back to the rec fields to stuff his face as well get his Pokémon fed as well. It would be at that point that Tristen would of reveal his proverbial hand as to what he had brought out in his impromptu change at the computer earlier this afternoon before training Spewpa. He had the walking inferno in that of Magmar in case someone decided to get cheeky. Namely to give his party a bit of diversity in case push came to shove. While most of the other Pokémon didn’t mind it, Wimpod kept his distance, not wanting to be caught up in the heat of that Pokémon.

Once he knew everything was good and settled with his Pokémon as far as food was concerned and tried to spend a bit of time with them, conversing with them and such for at least a little time, Tristen would recall his Pokémon back to their respective balls, all except Spewpa and Wimpod for the moment, then started to make his way off back for the dorm. A quick clean up and a bit of preparation for the day to come tomorrow was in order, maybe a call to his adoptive parents to check in, then finally sleep all the same. It had been a rather weird day…

Another day had come and gone for Tristen, another day at the academy in the books. Tomorrow would be similar for Tristen, that is four classes for the day and some training to work in with Spewpa. Again he'd spot those grunts giving him the stink eye but again they did nothing but stare at him, menacingly. Also like the day before there was no sign of Matteo, the boy not showing up for any of his classes yet again. Was he really stewing from his defeat that much? It was hard to say without seeing hide nor hair of him.

That Tuesday would come and go and before Tristen knew it the sun had rose on Wednesday, the day Fela was suppose to return, Spewpa excited to see his friend again. Waking up on Wednesday morning it was time to get ready and head to class yet again, and most importantly to reunite Spewpa and Fela and show the girl how much the little bug has grown in such a short amount of time. And maybe, just maybe, Matteo would show up...maybe.

Another day would come for Tristen and more classes to go check on. After having breakfast with his Pokémon, he debated quickly if he needed to change up his Pokémon party again. As far as what he could think, until the heat of Team Star is off his case, or at least slacks off again, he’d probably best stay at the ready. As such, he’d leave his party as is. Once settling that thought, he would proceed to go to Ms. Tyme’s class for another round of math. He’d once again meet up with Penny and Nemona once more. Penny ended up giving a few more tidbits of info about the various going ons within the school that Tristen managed to get, which had been a big help adjusting to the school still. It apparently did pay to be a bit of an introvert and a shadow within the class in some respects, as bad as that might sound. Her take on a lot of things allowed Tristen to adapt fairly well within these school halls. Nemona wanted another battle, obviously. Sooner than later, just as so. Tristen wouldn’t mind having another battle despite knowing he was bound to lose to her, but the more that he thought about it, a fair number of Pokémon could use the work and maybe he could try to figure out why she ended up as tough as she is on the battlefield. The class itself went relatively smoothly; the Manetric hybrid stayed attentive to the teacher’s lesson. Just as before, it was material he already been through back at the Snagem headquarters but he had to admit, compared to how Freth was teaching him, Ms. Tyme made the material a lot easier to digest. Then again, Freth wasn’t exactly a teacher herself and only brought that task upon herself out of perceived necessity.

Following that was Mr. Salvatore and Language class, greeted immediately by B and E with a gigantic unison hug by the pair. Nothing too noteworthy really was talked between the two; the boys were energetic as they always were…up until the bell rang. Once again, no Matteo. Once again, Tristen wondered if anyone tried tracking down Matteo at this point. Check his dorm, call his parents, something. This was day number two with the Growlithe Hybrid being a no-show and no student apparently knows where he is. Tristen couldn’t help but to wonder did Matteo’s humiliation do that kind of damage to him? Tristen could only shake his head on the matter, realizing that he kind of forgot that he had a different go at things in life compared to Matteo, let alone anyone else in this school. He’d have to leave Matteo to his devices and not worry about him.

It was something that had to be reiterated to the twins once lunch finally rolled around. After having another brief, but pleasant conversation with Ms. Picante, Tristen found B and E was still trying to go on the whole ‘be a Dragonite’ mentality from the day before, it was a little hard to do again, especially knowing that once again, no Matteo. Though at least Fela was supposed to come back tomorrow. But the twins knew this was very strange. This never happened before, and shouldn’t be happening, something that Tristen would agree with, but this is all on Matteo to work out on his own if he was in fact still sulking from his loss over the weekend. Hopefully work on for the better, Tristen hoped. Last thing he wanted was to end up having to deal with Matteo as long as he was with this school. He already apparently had Team Star grunts trying to project all manner of bravado to him out of the blue and he didn’t understand why.

Speaking of aforementioned Team Star, nothing changed since yesterday. The weirdly clad teenagers were out and about with that one girl who confronted him in the bathroom was still around. They still were trying to intimidate Tristen but all they were doing was being annoying. Tristen wasn’t sure if they were trying to goad him into fighting and potentially get him in trouble or if they had some other objective in mind. Tristen didn’t want to call Sub about it yet, especially that he’d have nothing more to tell them other than what he brought up to the Snagem leader the day before. He’d just let them try to make the first move.

The third period with Ms. Raifort would finally come forth. Ms. Raifort continued to teach the lesson straight out of the book instead of putting her own spin on it, which at this point he started to wonder if she didn’t in fact have her own style. Then again, last he checked she still was with a good chunk of the Snagems and trying to take care of the whole Herba Mystica stuff as well as take care of the titans. She literally put herself in the position where she really didn’t have any time to actually teach her students the way she probably wanted to. Though this raised a question to Tristen…how was she allowed to get away with that? Unfortunately, these were questions Tristen might not ever get answered…might not even get asked at this rate considering that he’d rather not stir up trouble.

Finally, the easy part of the day finally came. Homeroom. Tristen didn’t have much work to work on and anything that he had was easily dealt with, giving him time to actually mingle about the class room. Once again, he got to talk to Penny some, Nemona as well…what caught him off guard this go round was Mr. Jacq wanting to inquire about Tristen’s Rampardos. Tristen had the feeling if anyone was going to inquire about that one, it was going to be him. Tristen unfortunately had to dance around a lot of things like as to how he ended up getting Rampardos in the first place in fear that it might alert the class about Tristen being a Snagem. Mr. Jacq at one point even asked if he could examine Rampardos there in the class, which Tristen had to let on that he didn’t have Rampardos on him at the moment. It was a bit awkward for Tristen.

The bell couldn’t come soon enough and soon enough Tristen made his way out the door and off out of Mezagoza once again to work on training with Spewpa. Tristen would once again worked with Spewpa with the new strategy of using String Shot to maneuver about and battle with so as long as Spewpa is in the state that it is in and worked to make sure that everything was kosher and good to go. Tristen went as far as using some of his other Pokémon to help out with it, just so that Spewpa was good with all manner of situations, other than Magmar, anyways. Fighting a Pokémon like him would be absolute worst-case scenario. Something he hopes never would happen. Barring that, Dragonite was perhaps the most difficult to overcome for Spewpa in that Dragonite was able to fly. Even though it was practice and Dragonite wasn’t spewing any manner of attacks, Spewpa was put through the ringer. Dragonite made sure that Spewpa was going to have the hardest time trying to reach him as he flew about into the air and left Spewpa to get flung all over the place. To Spewpa’s credit, the bug did in fact hang tough. Every turn and weave Dragonite made, Spewpa adjusted with a string shot. Just as taught, Spewpa did everything to turn Dragonite’s advantage against him until finally Spewpa managed to get some momentum and managed to latch on to the back of Dragonite. Something that was worthy of praise by Tristen and all Pokémon present. Spewpa was learning quite well.

For the latter half of the training session, Tristen would let Spewpa rest a bit after that run then would proceed to get back to getting into Pokémon battles. Wild Pokémon or trainer owned. It didn’t matter. Tristen would end up finding a few battles to get into, mostly with wild Pokémon, but there was one trainer that challenged him out of the blue that Tristen would see if Spewpa and Wimpod could put the screws to. The trainer was boasting a Rockruff and Makuhita. It wasn’t by any means flawless, truth be told, but it was good enough much to the opposing trainer’s chagrin. The Rockruff took one too many Aqua Jets out of Wimpod, all the while being hampered by Spewpa’s string shots, and Makuhita in the end got to see the fruits of Spewpa’s labor. In one instance with one string shot, the Makuhita pulled back, refusing to fall for the same fate that Rockruff did, only to fall into the proverbial trap of harshly pulling the bug to him and taking a face full of Stun Spore for his efforts. It wasn’t long before the Makuhita was pounded into submission by the two bugs.

With a generally successful training session, Tristen made his way back for Mezagoza, content with what transpired with the training. Another meal shared and another return to his room for the night. Tristen would kill some time to catch up with his adoptive parents still busy out in the region, appraising them of his adventures in school life at this point. He had to admit though, he still wasn’t really over being separated from them and the other Snagems as long as he has so far but he’s still hanging tough. Taking words of encouragement from them, Tristen felt a little rejuvenated. He afterwards would then turn in for the night.

The next morning, once again Tristen was up and started to prepare for the day once again. Instead of having breakfast in the dorm, he would go off towards the cafeteria. Not only he was looking for something a little different today and curious as to what the cafeteria was serving this morning, he was more concerned in trying to see Fela. She didn’t exactly state when today she was going to be around so he wanted to be out early in case she did make it here for classes this morning. Worse case scenario, they’d have to wait until sometime this evening after class, potentially cancelling training this afternoon just to make sure they’d catch her. Tristen and Spewpa was holding Fela to her word back on Saturday; the latter moreso than the former. In fact, Spewpa was actually really anxious to see her. Had been since being dropped off over the weekend. As soon as Tristen arrived in the cafeteria, he started to take a look around to see if she was already here.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 03, 2024 5:03 pm

And as luck would have it Tristen would spot the girl, having the same idea apparently as him as she was seated at a table in the center of the room with a good view of the cafeteria door. She had a muffin in front of her and yet was paying so close attention to the entrance that she immediately spotted Tristen as he walked in and jumped to her feet and waved excitedly at him. "Tristen! Over here!" She shouted, getting some looks from the other students eating but she didn't care. "Come on! Come on!" She said, waving him over.

Tristen would give a wave to Fela and would quickly go get his own breakfast. Once he managed to do so, he would make a beeline straight for Fela to finally catch up with her after these few days. “Hey, Fela. Glad you made it back alright.” Tristen said to her as he went to sit down at a seat close to her. “I take it everything went good on your trip?”

"Oh boy did it!" Fela said, positively vibrating out of excitement, Tristen could already tell she was waiting to regale him with stories. "Kalos is so cool! Have you ever been there? We spent a lot of time in Lumiose City, the capital, they got tons of cafes! Can't turn a corner without seeing one! Oh and we got to ride the elevator to the top of Prism Tower! The view was amazing! And the Royal Guards are everywhere! According to our guide though they are largely ceremonial now but I got to take a picture with one! Want to see? I got lots of pictures actually! Oh and I got to visit the Lumiose Museum! Beautiful works of art..." Fela would carry on about her time in Kalos, particularly Lumiose, telling Tristen all about the touristy places she visited.

"Oh! I'm so sorry! I got carried away...how have you been? And how is Scatterbug? It didn't give you too much trouble, did it?" Fela said, setting her phone down after showing Tristen pictures.

Tristen listened attentively to Fela’s adventures in Kalos. Apparently despite having to go pick a relative up, they were going to make the most of going there apparently before they turned around and left the region. Tristen was trying to be nice and all, but in spite of that, he caught himself zoning out a little as Fela started to tell all manner of stories and showed all manner of photos that she taken on her phone of the region. Tristen was all too familiar with Kalos, being with Snagem and all, obviously. From him leaving a rut in the street from having to fight off a Team Flare member trying to incite a riot to his adoptive father’s sudden fame as ‘The Noble Hybrid’. It was to say a least a rather crazy time. Truthfully, even with Lysandre out of the picture now, Tristen wasn’t too keen on going back to Kalos any time soon if he could help it. Despite there being an uproar for equality, he wasn’t sure how much of the proverbial dust and overall animosity has settled in the region. He had to admit he hadn’t checked into much about Kalos since Lysandre’s defeat in Black City. All the same, he wasn’t going to rain on Fela’s proverbial parade. She apparently had a good time over there. For someone like her, this probably was an experience that is not often made. Not to mention, it was probably the best time to go over there anyways since Lysandre is now out of the picture.

When Fela finally got away off the topic of Kalos and about to him, he led off with a shrug. “Oh, not too bad really. Well…mostly.” Tristen said. “I don’t know if you heard since you got back, but Matteo hasn’t been seen since Saturday. It’s gotten B and E kind of worried, but I managed to keep them okay for now. Also, apparently, I guess I ended up getting some unwanted attention as well. Those Team Star guys has been trying to mess with me since Monday afternoon and I don’t know why. But, I’m not really worried about those guys though. They haven’t really done anything other than stare at me and act tough. As for Scatterbug…” Tristen would take out the Premier Ball and pop open the ball out onto the floor to release Spewpa. Once the bug was revealed, Tristen would reach down to pick the bug off the floor and in his lap to show Fela. “…no trouble at all. Surprise.”
PostPosted: Fri Oct 04, 2024 4:20 pm

Fela listened to Tristen and would make a few faces as he mentioned Matteo and the twins, reserving her own comments until Tristen was done talking. All her comments were further put on hold when the young hybrid took out the Premier Ball and released from inside an unfamiliar yet still familiar Bug Pokemon. Giving the Spewpa a confused look it took Fela several seconds before it finally clicked in her mind what was going on here. "It evolved!" She shouted, jumping to her feet as the realization finally sunk in.

The girl would get closer and attempt to grab a hold of Spewpa and give the bug a little hug, having missed the former worm all this time. Spewpa itself wouldn't mind this attention, glad to finally be reunited with its friend. "I can't believe it! How did it happen? You must be an amazing trainer, Tristen, that is to get Scatter-...Spewpa, to evolve so fast." She said, nuzzling up to Spewpa a little more. "Speeew..." The bug almost purred. "You guys must have got a ton of training in since I was gone." She said with a smile. "We're going to ace this project!"

With the shock of Spewpa's new form Fela circled back to the previous topics. "But Matteo, he really hasn't showed up? He has skipped before but never that long...two days was the most I've ever seen him do and his dad came down hard on him for it. That's really concerning..." She said, setting Spewpa down, feeling like she squeezed it enough already, giving the bug a pat on the head. "Though I'm glad you were there for the twins, they are really crazy about Matteo, as you no doubt saw. Hopefully they grow out of that." She bemused.

"As for Team Star...be careful, Tristen. That group is composed of some of the worse of the worse the academy has ever attracted. Drop outs, delinquents, you name it. I've never ran into them before but I've heard plenty of rumors and talked to people who crossed paths with them. Apparently they keep an eye out for new recruits too, usually students who are either failing their classes, been in trouble with the staff, or in general anyone that might be keen to revenge." She commented.

Tristen gave a content smile when Spewpa and Fela reunited. It was rather endearing to watch and made the few days with the bug all the more worth it. Tristen himself would reach over and gave a pat on the head and a look that basically said ‘I told you so’, but not so much in a condescending way. Spewpa just needed a little more faith than it did over the weekend. With that brief spout of joy now settling in, it got a little serious when Fela explained the case with Matteo and Team Star. “…Revenge?” Tristen then had the thought once again that briefly occurred to him just now. “On that last point you made…could it be possible that Matteo went to join up with Team Star?” Tristen asked. Tristen didn’t really know the depths of vindictiveness that Matteo had, let alone to Tristen, and considering what he had seen up until the end of the tournament Saturday, he felt it to be an honest question.
