Stopping on the hill that crested above the city Grayson looked down below, a general resemblance of indifference residing on his countenance. In that city of.. thousands was his target, most likely awaiting his arrival, and all he had to do was find him. Fun. Although aware of its priority Grayson couldn't help but think of the Pewter Gym, and how he needed to challenge it. Not to mention how much easier it'd be to find such a popular building, compared to a person whose appearance he hadn't even familiarized himself with. It was a rock based gym too, a type in which he had plenty of pokemon to combat against, so it wasn't as if it'd take him more than thirty minutes to find and collect his badge.
It was while Grayson was mulling his choice over that Morta took the chance to melt away from his shadow, a rather... upset frown pulling at her face. Back in the forest... it had been her time to train, get stronger! But that thing's evolution had taken priority over it, even after it'd been returned there hadn't been enough time to seek out another pokemon. Morta gave a heavy sigh, the gap between her and the other pokemon was gradually growing larger, sooner or later she'd lose Grayson's interest if she didn't get stronger. With this chilling thought in mind the Gengar looked up sharply, gaze narrowing on two birds pecking at the ground nearby. They hadn't noticed her presence, or just didn't view her as a threat. Their mistake. In the blink of an eye the ghost slipped into a shadow and drew closer, waiting for the perfect opportunity to dispatch one, and then the other bird with carefully aimed blobs of poison.

Not satisfied in the slightest Morta continued with her hunt, moving on from the birds to a duo of snakes. What were with the doubles, safety in numbers maybe? Or a hunting group? It was getting late, there was quite a bit of movement about, what with pokemon returning for their homes for the night and others waking up. Morta didn't care too much for the reason behind this, however, and instead focused on the fact that, with the increased numbers, she could get herself the boost she needed faster. As it was she was able to take care of the Ekans in a timely manner, something she was sure Grayson would've appreciated, had he been paying attention.

"Morta, come on. We're burning daylight!" The sharp call brought the ghost type from her post-battle bliss, and upon during around she found Grayson staring expectantly in her direction. With a rumble Morta slunk back over to her trainer, slipping silently back into his shadow without so much as a glance to her other teammates. Once she'd 'settled in' Grayson gave a stretch, mentally preparing himself for even more walking, and then began his descent down into Pewter. After thinking it over a bit more he'd decided to go with the more obvious choice of taking on the gym first before finding his guy, that being said it'd probably do his some good to actually read up on the file that'd been sent on him.
"Gourgeist, you're going to handle this battle on your own," Grayson informed the ghost as he poured over the document on his phone, his head lowered so that he could look properly at its screen. "You've got the type advantage, so it shouldn't be too much of a challenge. You can handle that, right?" Although he doubted Gourgeist would have too much, if any, trouble with whatever came his way, he needed to know for sure so that he wouldn't be forced to make any last minute changes. "Ya, boss, I gotcha." Gourgeist's nonchalant response arrived as the pokemon did, taking a position by Grayson's side. The teen grunted in acknowledgement, making sure to keep the pokemon's immediate compliance in mind for future reference.

At some point or another, with his eyes still on his phone, Gourgeist ended up taking the lead, keeping an eye out for their designation with just a few questions posed to Grayson so he could know what to look for. Puffing out his chest with confidence Gourgeist pushed open the doors to the gym, and had enough courtesy to hold it open for his trainer. Grayson didn't bother looking up, still engrossed in the information on his phone, as he walked over to take his spot on the field. Thankfully the sound of the door opening was enough to attract a young man up to the front, since Grayson certainly wasn't going to go look for him, and he flashed a smile when he spotted him. "Hey there, here for a battle?" he inquired, taking a more relaxed pose with one hand on his hip.
"Mhm..." With a slight jerk of the head Grayson indicated for Gourgeist to take the field, while he sat down and held his phone at eye level; all this looking down wasn't good for his neck. "Oh, uh, you might not want to sit on the floor. It's sort of... all dirt," Brock advised, even as he took his place on the opposite side of the field. "It's fine. I'm not going anywhere else tonight," Grayson assured, then frowned as he read over a particular line of text. This guy did... what, for a living? "Giga Drain." As.. surprised as he was, the teen didn't dare forget his environment, and once Brock had, reluctantly, sent out his first pokemon he made certain to give his first, and only, command to Gourgeist. After this he was on his own.

It was a bit offputting to see the opposing trainer sit down on the floor and engross himself with his phone throughout the battle, but the gourgeist won fair and square. He returned his fainted Onix, and then approached the guy, holding out the reward - a badge and a tm - and congratulating him on his win. After that was done with, he left to tend to his pokemon.

With his phone still in his grip Grayson stood to his feet, sending out a telepathic message for Aita to take the items being handed to him. The kitten stretched over his trainer's shoulders, snatching up both the badge and disc before he pulled them to his chest and scrutinized them from up close. Gourgeist came running up soon after, his body bruised but his confidence soaring. He was both relieved and excited to have managed to take on two gym leader's pokemon, that significance not lost to him, by himself. Grayson looked up from his phone for several seconds once Gourgeist had gotten close, the look on his face giving away nothing. "We're heading to the Pokémon Center, don't lag behind," he finally said before returning to his phone, flicking upwards to drag the document he was reading down.
Gourgeist, not in the least perturbed by the lack of praise or even acknowledgement, gave a nod before he sucked in a breath, already mentally telling himself that his wounds were simple scratches. After Grayson collected his winnings from Aita, giving the badge a once over first, and pocketed them he pushed open the doors and stepped back outside, keeping it open just long enough for Gourgeist to slip out before he started moving again. "I was thinking about a name for you," he announced randomly, once they'd left the gym behind them, clearly addressing Gourgeist. "What do you think of 'Viduus'? He was a Roman god, separated the soul from the body after death." Gourgeist tilted his head to the side, mulling the possible name over, before he eventually nodded and struck a lazy grin. "If that's what ya wanna call me, boss, I won't have any complaints."

Rose was so relieved once she was out of the forest, that she let out a sigh before making a bee-line for the red roofed pokemon center. She wanted to make sure this bug that had gave her a fright was alright, and if it possibly belonged to anyone. "Sorry about that... she can get pretty flighty when it she thinks there are ghosts about." Fynx apologized to MD about her trainer's actions along the way. After handing over the bug - now identified as a Larvesta - Rose had time to notice that she had some messages to respond to. From Marx, too! She opened the first message to find a picture of ... was that really Marx? He said he got a hair cut, and well, it really did make him look a lot different. She was used to seeing only half his face for the most part. She checked out the second message and squealed a bit, before getting to typing out a response to Marx's messages.

Faraday nodded and followed along with Jubilee and Uriah close at his back, keeping an eye out for any more surprises before they finally existed the forest. He was rather surprised at how quickly the red-head bolted for the pokemon center to check her newly acquired pokemon, glancing at Fynx curiously as she apologized for Rose.
"Aaahhh, ghosts? Well that certainly makes sense." He chuckled, rubbing under his chin in thought. Ghosts spooked a lot of people it seemed and it didn’t quite surprise him to find that Rose seemed scared of them too. It must’ve made dealing with ghost pokemon pure hell though. How troublesome. "Don’t worry about it. She’s fine." He remarked with a grin. It quickly dissipated though as a beeping noise from his pocket caught his attention. Immediately he frowned and looked down, eyebrow quirking before he glanced back at his two pokemon with a sort of ambiguous look. They didn’t seem too thrilled about the beeping as well, though Uriah probably wore the sternest expression disapproval of them all.
"Hey Fynx, if you’ll excuse us. I’ve got some business I’ve got to handle really quick." MD remarked, looking back to the psychic vixen with an apologetic smile. "I’ll try not to be long, but tell Rose to go on ahead if I don’t show back up." Which given his tone, seemed to be the likely case. Still, he didn’t want to keep the girl from progressing, especially since her team was already fairly song. With that, he took a step back and gave a wave, heading off in a bit of a different direction from the pokemon center to handle whatever it was he needed to handle.

As the sky began to grow darker Grayson decided to spare his eyes, slipping his work phone away so that he wasn't forced to strain his eyes, and for the first time since arriving in the city he actually lifted his head. He'd already read everything he needed to know, all he had to do now was locate this Emmet. That would have to wait, at least for another five minutes, as Grayson ducked inside of the Pokémon Center. Stepping out of the way of the door the teen took the time to return Viduus before he traveled any further, afterwards tossing the pokeball from one hand to the other as he approached Nurse Joy. With nothing more than a soft nod of greeting he handed over his pokeball, stepping away once the woman had taken it.
Figuring that the healing process wouldn't take too long Grayson took a position with his back turned to the Nurse's station and leaning against the counter, absently doing a sweep of the lobby as he waited. There weren't many people here this time of night, a young couple, a redheaded girl, and then a dark haired male reading over a newspaper. Stifling a yawn Grayson turned his head away to try and find something else of interest, when something suddenly clicked and he immediately snapped his gaze back to the male. He looked familiar... In an attempt to confirm his suspicions once more did Grayson pull out his phone, pulling up the Void file and taking a look at the slightly blurry, awkward picture that had been provided with the information. It was clear that it had been taken far away, and without the person's knowledge, but.. he was almost certain that the person sitting on the couch was Emmet. How convenient.

Grayson hadn't expected to run across Emmet so soon, though now that he thought about it the Pokémon Center was the perfect place to wait for someone. It was an easy and common place to find, no matter the town or region, and even if you didn't need to heal your pokemon the red-topped building offered more than just healing facilities, not to mention it was a bit of an information hub. But he'd need to ignore the simplicity of such a decision, and instead focus on the fact that he didn't know, let alone had thought of, a way to approach the man. Grayson had watched a few spy movies when he was younger, was there a secret code that he needed to tell the man so that he knew who he was, or perhaps even a subtle signal?
"Tch..." He didn't allow that ridiculous train of to continue running, pressing down firmly on a button to speed-dial the only number available before he stepped back outside, these were never the sort of conversations he needed overheard. "I found him." Grayson announced once the line had been picked up, one hand stuffed into his hoodie pocket. Silence permeated the line, long enough for the pale teen to roll his eyes and begin scratching Aita underneath his chin, in an attempt to keep himself patient. "Where is he?" the person on the other line finally asked, the sound of papers being shuffled audible in the background. "Sitting inside the Center," Grayson replied. "Put him on."
Holding in a sigh Grayson gave some verbal sound of compliance, pushing himself off the wall of the Center before he headed back inside. He casually made his way over to Emmet, and when he sat down he made sure he was close enough to cause the man to look up from his paper. "Hey, sorry I walked past you earlier, I didn't even see you there," he started off, causally. The other male kept from raising an eyebrow and simply cocked his head to the side, "it's fine," he spoke, slowly, a hint of cautioun in his tone and body language. "I got a call from dad though, and he wanted to speak to you." Holding out the phone, Grayson waited patiently for Emmet to take it and then stood to his feet after he'd done so. "I'll be right back." Leaving him with his superior on the other line the teen headed back up to the counter, just in time to receive his pokemon back.
