Viola grinned, snapping a picture of Christin. "I was getting a bit bored waiting up here, so I'm glad you came along ma chérie." The bug gym leader suggested with a nod, tossing one of the two pokeballs clipped to her waist into the air and sending out her surskit into the fray. "Let's see what you've got darling, I hope you'll give me a dazzling battle; I've been looking for something fresh for my wall of fame~" She suggested with a beaming smile.

Christin smiled as Viola came out grinning at having a challenger. When she took her picture, she was taken aback, but that just meant that she was right. A photographer for the first gym. With a small smile, Christin nodded and tossed out her Mareep. "Alright Arrow. Let's show Viola what we can do!" She said when Arrow landed. "Mareeeeeep~" Christin smiled as the dark colored Mareep answered her. "Alright, Use Thundershock!" She directed. The Mareep charged up and launched a lightning attack at the Surskit.

Viola blinked as Christin sent out a specially colored mareep, unlike anything she had seen before. "Oh la la! You spoil me ma chérie!" Viola grinned, snapping another picture. "Who knew you had such pretty pokemon hiding on your belt?" Christin was eager to get the battle started however, ordering the sheep to use a thundershock. "What's the rush darling? Do you have somewhere to be?" Viola teased. "Surskit, change things up with a quick attack or two." She suggested, and the little spider flew past the first few sparks of the thundershock to slam into the mareep. Though from point blank range, getting hit with the electric attack was unavoidable. Surskit struggled a bit with the static that clung to her, but managed to at least pull off another quick attack.

When she said she was being spoiled, Christin couldn't help but decide to send out Targe. "If you like Arrow, you'll like Targe too. My swablu is very peculiar in color and I'll show it to you." She said pulling out Targe's ball. When she was asked if she had somewhere to be, well Christin nodded. "Actually yes. My little brother was taken during the Tanabata a few months ago. I'm looking for him. So I'm a little rushed to say the least." Christin responded, her fierce demeanor diminishing a little, before she looked to Arrow. "Arrow, finish off that Surskit with an Iron Tail!" The Mareep shook its coat before leaping forward to slam its tail onto the Surskit. When it was fainted, Arrow bleated and came back to Christin, who let out Targe. "Targe, Say hello.""Swabluuuu~"

Viola grinned at the prospect of seeing another shiny pokemon of Christin's, but she would have to be patient though, since they were trying to battle at the moment. Not to mention, Viola had to order her surskit to pull some quick stunts to try and maneuver around the thundershocks that Arrow was throwing around. The persistent use of a type advantage made Viola jokingly question if Christin was in some kind of hurry, but she didn't expect an actual answer, and such a sad one at that. "Oh dear... Poor petit garçon..." Viola frowned. "Yes, I suppose that would be a reason to hurry this along non? Unfortunately that still doesn't mean I can take it easy on you, I hope you understand." She suggested hesitantly, withdrawing her surskit and sending out her vivillon while Christin, as promised, sent out her uniquely colored swablu into battle. "Ooh~ Oui oui, your swablu is fantastic!" Viola smiled and snapped a picture. "Tackle it, mon petit papillon~" She commanded, the Vivillon charging after Targe and slamming into it with her whole body.

Christin nodded, her ferocity returning. Once this was over she would be heading to the next town. And closer to where she was certain her brother was. "I wouldn't deserve a badge if you went easy on me." She agreed. When Viola exclaimed that Targe was very pretty. She personally enjoyed that her Swablu's wings were more rain cloud than puffy white. After the picture the battle went on. With a quick tackle from the Vivillon, Christin looked to her already weakening Swablu. "Alright, Shake it off Targe! You can do this! Use peck on the vivillon." She directed. Targe shook it's puffy feathers before charging at the Vivillon to lunge it's beak into the bug types side. Christin didn't think that Targe would last much longer, and so she got Phalanx ready. The Larvitar knew it was his turn next. Phalanx was ready to step in. He was ready.

It wasn't enough to bring Viola's vivillon down though, and the butterfly soon reared back with another tackle to knock the swablu out. It seemed Christin was somewhat expecting that though, already having another pokeball at the ready. "Je suis désolé, she did her best, non?" "Alright Phalanx, it's your tu-" She started, but stopped as one of her pokeballs let lose a different pokemon. Machina grunted, not willing to let the tiny ground/rock type show him up. Christin's eyes widened at the sight of the Rex appearing, but then narrowed in annoyance. "Machina! I did not give you permission to come out!" She said losing her patience. Machina gave his trainer a roll of the eyes, and the puffed air at her. Not going to listen. He wanted to show his stuff, she hadn't let him out in awhile. He wasn't going to go without being given a chance. Christin glowered at him, pulling out his ball. But decided against it. Fine. "Fine. Show us what you can do." She said, still obviously annoyed at her stubborn pokemon.

Viola hadn't wanted to say anything, but Christin basically confirmed Viola's assumption that Targe was new to her team. "Oui, I had my suspicions." She agreed, but even for a newcomer, the swablu had done a number on her vivillon. As Christin prepared to send in her next pokemon, they were interrupted by the appearance of a tyrantrum, and Christin grew upset at the interference. Viola's expression simpered. What was it with today and disobedient pokemon? First there was that angry young man and his charmander, now it was Christin with her stubborn tyrantrum. "Perhaps you should talk to Grant? He's the leader of Cyllage gym, and he happens to have a Tyrunt. He's a big fossil fan, he could... Erm... Give you a tip?" Viola suggested hesitantly. "Vivillon, let's wear him down with an infestation, yes?" Viola commanded, and the butterfly soon sent a swarm of tiny bugs to distract and annoy the giant fossil pokemon.

"That's a good idea. I'll have to make sure that I remember to ask. He's almost as stubborn as I am..." Christin sighed. As Vivillon sent itty bitty bugs at Machina, the dino growled before tackling the tiny butterfly pokemon. Successfully knocking it out... "Machina! Your huge compared to the Vivillon!" Christin scolded. Upset that Machina may have actually hurt the Vivillon more than just fainting it.

Viola nodded lightly as Christin took to her suggestion of talking to Grant about her stubborn tyrantrum, glad she could help the trainer with a tip off to an expert. As vivillon sent the swarm of bugs to Machina, it didn't seem to deter him, so much as encourage him to throw his whole body into a tackle at the poor butterfly. Thankfully Viola was able to return her pokemon before she was crushed, an effective surrender since she knew she was beaten, but didn't want her vivillon to pay the price. "Don't worry mon amie, vivillon is safe." She insisted after Christin scolded the dinosaur, and hopped down onto the webbed platform with a few items in hand. "Here you are, the Bug badge as proof of your victory, along with a few other things as a gift~" Viola suggested with a smile. "To exit, just climb up that ladder and through my tent, it'll put you back into my museum. I hope you find your brother soon..." Viola nodded sympathetically.

Exiting the city, Mel and Brian started along the route leading to Santalune. Z and the two fire pokemon could be seen up ahead, with Phia leaving a trail of singed grass behind her. Mel blinked, looking curiously after them, then glanced nervously at the hedges around them. Honestly, it felt more like walking through a garden than a route between cities here, but she was a little concerned that her fire pokemon might sort of... light up the place. Her father had said they could be hard to control... She let out a quiet sigh, calming herself down. She had Z. And Blue, now that she thought about it. Even if a fire did get started -- though she really, really hoped it wouldn't -- she was fairly certain that they would be able to squash it easily, and before it got out of control. And in the meantime, Phia seemed to be appreciating snacking on the grass, and her leaves were apparently able to start rehydrating themselves. Hopefully she wouldn't need to... eat all the grass in the area...

Eying the group a bit, Mel reached around to pull something out of her bag. "H'oi! Lucy!" she called over. The chimchar perked up and looked over, then came bounding back to them. "Here," she offered, holding out the odd egg-shaped stone, "Go ahead and find some pokemon to battle, if you want. I know it took a while, but I think we can start training now. And you've been really patient, so I want to at least try and help make up for the lost time." She gave a smile as the pokemon blinked, and looked down at the lucky egg. "Chim! Chim char!" she replied, taking the egg gratefully, and running off to barrel around in search of pokemon to fight. Mel shifted her gaze back over to Z and Phia, the former of whom seemed to be keeping an eye on the little fire bug. Honestly... she was really glad she brought him with her. She hoped they could find out what was wrong with him so he could return to his usual form, though...

Brian raised an eyebrow, looking at Mel out of the corner of his eye. He let her have her moment, then... "So... fishbowl?" he asked. Atg least one of them didn't forget the previous conversation. Mel blinked and looked at him, but then shook her head, and nodded. "Right, right... I suppose we probably should have checked Lumoise, but maybe we can ask in Santalune?" she remarked, bringing a hand to her mouth in a thoughtful gesture. Brian shrugged. "Might as well. It's probably smaller, but it's still a city, and it probably still has some shops, so at the very least, they might know where to direct us," he commented, shoving his hands into his pockets. She nodded a bit, then flashed a smirk and looked at him. "Maybe we can get you some better clothes, too," she teased in amusement. She looked over as she noticed Lucy finish off a pokemon, but called her over to use a potion and get her back to full health real quick, reminding her to come back whenever she took some damage. She didn't want her starter healing, especially not when she was working to get stronger.

Brian rolled his eyes at Mel's teasing, but looked over as she tended to Lucy and gave the pokemon a few extra potions to use herself, if she wanted. He looked up ahead, at Santalune, then looked over at Mel as the girl straightened up. "We're getting pretty close to Santalune," he commented, "You wanna stop for a bit so Lucy can keep training?" Mel blinked, glancing at him, and then the approaching city. She was honestly kind of hungry, and would have liked the opportunity to sit down and get some food, but... "Sure," she agreed, giving a nod and looking at him. She looked forward again. "I suppose I could always use the chance to try and look over my other pokemon's movesets..."
