I believe in blessing people; but then again, a blessing is only half as good if only the blesser believes in it. I don't bless with words like "God Bless you" (I only use it at Church, where people will really believe it) but my favorite is "take care" (which, like all good credit cards, is accepted everywhere). I've told everyone I know that it is the best blessing mainly because it shows I can see how strong they are; knowing that one is strong enough to look after oneself is the best thing I can think of as a blessing.

Thats a good point. With me, a good blessing is 'follow me'. If I tell you to follow me, your gonna be safe. Its that simple. No one will attack you when Im just as easy a target. And I can repel any physical attack (thank god for my black belt in 4 different martial arts) The only think I have to worry about is guns. And even then, I dont care. Ive been shot before, and have the scars to prove it.

I was at work when I heard about an email going around the office. A lady was fired or left for personal reasons and had hurt feelings towards some of the other workers. The email was more of a curse on them than anything else:
"For those of you who have wronged me, I leave you with the words of my father:
I HOPE YOU ALL DIE."
I had a good laugh. xd

Skimming through some other entries, the questions seems to have come up of, "What exactly ARE blessings and curses?"
As a Mormon, "my people" (it feels so funny to say that) rely upon God's blessings, believing the very air we breath comes from Him. Our shelter, our food, our ability to wake up in the morning... we owe it all to Him. They are all blessings, we believe.
And yet, we don't seem to believe in curses.
You'd think those two go hand-in-hand, no? Blessings = good fortune, curses = bad fortune. And wouldn't God be able to produce them both according to His will? And yet many seem to think that all bad things come straight from Satan.
It's just strange to focus on the very meaning and origin of blessings and curses... because even someone like me who considers herself to be very spiritual and religious can't really pin-point what those two things are.
There are religions who see God as a very angry being who demands respect or all Hell will break loose. I wonder if they feel more strongly about God being able to give curses? 'Ya know... the people who believe that if you ever disobey God, like having premarital sex, then you'll get pregnant with triplets and get every STD known to man. "If you have sex, you will get a disease and you will DIE."
Oh woah, now I'm thinking too hard. *pops a vein*

Iron_Felix, you're really beginning to sound a lot like a friend of mine.
Anyway, due to my lessons as a wiccan I know far more blessings than curses. I hope to enter a different kind of training soon, as an apprentice to the above mentioned friend. I'll need every bit of my martial arts training and more just to survive my apprenticeship.
I do think that people's intentions can influence things. The degree to which you believe you can influence things, affects the degree to which you can. I've worked some pretty intense magic before, purely from instinct.
There is scientific basis for this, actually. It's purely theoretical, but it makes a lot of sense. Philotic strands, I did find this in a science fiction novel, but there is real scientific basis that something like this might be fact. Too many unexplained phenomena, one day science will be able to explain.
**Edit, here's wiccan a blessing, it's actually a lullaby
Lady hold her while she sleeps Give her visions she can keep Make her safe until the light Thank you, Goddess of the night All that I hold between my hands Belongs to the Goddess
Make her healthy, keep her strong Let her live a life that's long Give her wisdom and self-worth Thank you Goddess for her birth All that I hold between my hands Belongs to the Goddess
Give her knowledge make her bright Let er know what's wrong and right Give her friends, let love be hers Thank you Goddess for little girls All that I hold between my hands Belongs to the Goddess
As she grows up let life thrive Animals and plants survive Peace and health for everyone Bless us maiden mother crone All that I hold between my hands belongs to the Goddess

Interesting blessing. You sound like someone I know aswell. But she is not wiccan. I dont think she could survive in that kind of life. Not like myself, Im not wiccan, but it sounds like something I would find very interesting.

Not like myself, Im not wiccan, but it sounds like something I would find very interesting. Wicca is fascinating, there's so much to be learned, after years I still feel like a novice. I don't see how someone could not survive it. Spells are like very intense prayers, and Wiccans use only white magic. Except for Hedge witches which are more shamanic. Warlocks and shamans can use black magic, witches never do. Wicca is more about respect for mother Earth than anything else. (Contrary to popular belief witches may be either male or female, same with warlocks, they're just evil and witches aren't)

My friend has too much faith to survive outside of christianity. She's one of those true believers. But she is open to everything spiritual. Spiritual highs are her drugs....

Oh woah, now I'm thinking too hard. *pops a vein* Slightly off topic, but I will also ask you to remember the Yezidi Devil Worshippers. They thought that God was an all forgiving, all loving being, and so they worshipped the Infernal. Point being they felt God would forgive them for what they had done in life, whereas it is the devil you need to make happy... so your life will have as little trauma as possible, by being on good terms with the "bad guys."

That sounds odd to me. I've always been curious about other beliefs and lately various experiences have forced me to realize that things I thought couldn't be, are. I'm quite open-minded now, perhaps one day she will be. Though I would not wish on anyone an experience profound enough to shake the very bowels of her faith. Such thing are often messy surprised

yea. It takes alot of energy from me to protect her. She has abilities similar to mine, but they are much weaker. Ive been trying to ease her into this life, because she's going to have to live with it.

Understandable. That will not be a fun transition for her, I imagine. It's good of you to protect and ease her into it though, some people would not be so kind. Why does she have to live with it? Just because she has the abilities?

She was born with them. And I know for a fact that her and I are on opposing sides. In the final battle, its going to be me vs her. If I dont ease her in, she wont stand a chance, and I love her far too much to just let her fall from grace as I did. I love her, but she does not love me the same way. Her love is pure, mine is not. My love is not a 'dirty' or 'sick' love, but it is beyond the love of friendship. Despite the fact that I may have to kill her in the future, I love her. The thing is, she doesnt know how much I love her. And I can admit that I cant tell her. I just cant.
