1) NEVER FLY THAI AGAIN!

What happened to you? eek
I've heard that Thai Airways is as nice as JAL or British Airways, is that not true? Please let me know before I book a nightmare flight from hell or something, mister! Pretty please! mrgreen

My family and I don't really like to fly much because it seems the airlines like to lose our luggage.

Traveling to visit family one year, I had to wear a cousin's clothes for a week until my luggage was recovered the day before we left.

And when it happens to my dad, he always ends up with something missing when his luggage is returned (especially his cologne).

I much prefer other means of travel, even if taking off and landing is a lot of fun.

I have absolutly nothing against flying. I absolutly love it. Actually, I was a flight attendant for awhile, so I hope I like flying! Heheh. So I pretty much know all the ins and outs of flying. I know luggage is not often misplaced, and usually it just doesn't get on the right plane and more often than not it will be on the next flight in from your city of origin. Talk to the person at the baggage claim desk, and they will arrange to have it delivered to your home, hotel, or wherever you are staying as soon as it arrives.

As far as travel issues I've had, there have only been a few memorable ones. The first one that comes to mind is that I'm not fond of the international terminal in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Namely, the gate United parks at. the hallway to get from those gates to customs, etc, is ineffably long. Way too long. I'm not exaggerating when I say it took us a good 15 minutes to walk from the gate to customs.

Another issue I had was with a hotel I was put in in Huntsville, Alabama. I forget exactly which hotel it was, but I had to stay there I think twice. It ws the dirtiest, nastiest hotel I've ever stayed at. I wish I could remember which one it was so I could tell you to avoid it at all costs.

My other two issues have to do with travel by car. I drove through Cleveland, Ohio once. The traffic was so horrible, and the roads were so confusing that we got lost. Luckily, we had a map, so my husband was able to find us a way to get to the highway we needed to be on.
Also, New Jersey. No offense if anyone here is from NJ, but I effin hate it. I've had to drive through it 4 times. 3 of them we got very lost. The last time we got lost we ended up in a very scary part of downtown Trenton. When we were trying to get back on the highway we were stopped at a red light and there was a guy getting arrested on the divider right next to us. eek

I can't think of anything too horrible...just this.

Don't go to Springfield, Illinois. If you must, only stay a few hours and make sure there is something interesting to do nearby. It is SO BORING there. It is Hicksville, USA. Sure, there's the capital building and the Lincoln house, but SNOOZE. It's kinda sad that the most interesting place there is the cemetery. Which is actually kind of cool... there are some really old graves there.

But Springfield is boring. That's all I can think of.

Never set your bags down in the Kauai airport... EVER.

When I was there, a man set down his brief case (on the floor) with his jacket over it. I watched in horror as a cockroach (I assume, or some other icky creepy crawly) the size of my palm meandered over to his case, climbed up it and into his coat. Needless to say I went through my own bags a few dozen times to be sure I didn't have any unusual guests...

I suppose this is true of any airport though, but especially those in tropical areas, that it is possible to acquire uninvited passengers... *shiver*

Air France and Baltic airlines should be banned!

Charles de Gualle airport should be nuked. scream

The passportsecurity at Ohare in Chicago, Il, are annoying. They treated me like a terrorist just because I had a new passport.
I know they're just doing their job but could they please not be so paranoid!?

While staying at the River view hotel in New York, mice kept me and mom company. There was only one shower/floor and the warm water was gone by 6.30 am. stare

The first time I ever flew I had a broken leg. My leg was encased in a cast and I was on crutches. The good thing was that I got to skip agead of the security line for my disability. I thought all was going well until they took my crutches and expected me to hop on one leg through the metal detector. They x-rayed them then wiped my cast down for a while with a giant q-tip looking thing and checked to see if had a bomb in it. Ridiculous. ><

[ my worst so far, was a 7 hour flight delay.]

[ I had already taken an 2 hour flight from Shanghai to Beijing, and then there was a 7 hour delay while we were on the plane. So that was about 21 hours on a plane. It was terrible. But it was because there were flash floods at the time. Luckily I slept through most of it.]

I hurled at Tim Horton's just when my parents and I were leaving for Pennsylvania.
It was embarassing, considering a lot of people were staring at me. gonk

So Last year I came to Tokyo for my traning oreintaion before I went of to teach in the city I'd be teaching at...

The orientation started august 24...problem was they didn't let us know about where to fly into until middle of July...FWI, August is the worst time to travle in Japan cause one it's SUPER expensive and two EVERYone and they're gay cousin travels in aug...so the only time I could get a good flight was 10 days before the training date...

So I had to find my own lodging for the 10 days before I could go to the hotel the company provided for this oritation.

I look up cheap YH online and find one for $20 a night. I get an e-mail with directions from this YH and it says to call some person when I land and then to go to some exit of this one train station were the person will meet me and take me to the YH...

so I get into Narita call this person....no answer...just a voice mail.... stare

I get on the train and get to the station and go to the exit they said to go to... call this person again... voice mail...I call the number for the YH....no answer....
A guy sees that I'm lost and tires to help...I show him the address on the e-mail and he's never heard of the YH or this address...

two people that work handing out stuff on the street try to help...they even have a map dirctory book...they're like...is this really an address? they can"t find it eather...

so I'm standing on some corner in the middle of tokyo at 8 at night and have no ******** idea how to get to this place. crying

But then someone JUST HAPPEND to walk by and ask "are you tring to get to such and such HY?"

and I'm like OMG YEEEESSSS! crying crying crying

The place ended up being some guys house at the end some out of the way back street. there was NO sign nothing to say this place was a YH xp

The neighbors didn't even know it was a hostle sweatdrop

The next day I meet this person I was suppose to call so she could pick me up... and she was like, oh sorry, I forgot my cell phone stare

WTF!!! scream This is your JOB, you guys knew I was coming in. If that one person hadn't just happened to walk by I would have been stranded

dude...Cheap for a reason -_-

What the heck?

Air France is the best company I've ever taken... And I've taken many , uh
You don't pay for food or drinks unlike in American companies.
Nor for your earphones.
You have your own TV on each seat.
The average age of the planes is 8 years old . Please. Everytime I took an american company on a local flight, it was some 20 / 30 years old plane that was shaking like hell . Freaky .
It's one of the most reliable company, since they have to keep their reputation.
And you can have Champagne.
Pawned.

And CDG is old. And if you think that it's a bad airport, I'd say you haven't travelled much.

NCL once damaged our luggage between picking it up in front of our cabin doors and when we picked it up.
