Aerden of Blue Tianxiath

Route: Paradise Falls Hold, Dust Sun Hold, Whitecliff Weyrhold, Black Sands Hold, Redoubt Hold, Western Hold,

Feeling: Confident Unconfident

Ribbons: 2/6

XP: +1 luck!

Quote:
17-19 Once again, you're feeling pretty confident about this whole thing! You give your dragons coordinates and:

---Very Unconfident through Unconfident You are feeling better than you had in any prior jump, but your dragon spooks and hops Between before you were ready. Thankfully, your coordinates were clear enough you don't get lost--but it definitely jars you! How lucky was that? Maybe try not to repeat that though. +1 Luck Gain a ribbon.

Tianxiath was extremely aware of Aerden's shot nerves, and in his eagerness to prove that they were doing perfectly well, he immediately jumped Between as soon as he'd gotten a glimpse of the coordinates that His was visualizing. Aerden flinched even as the cold bit into him, his concern rising... only for them to emerge safely at Dust Sun Hold. "T-Tianxiath--" He gasped, uncharacteristically rattled. The blue merely bugled with triumph, smugly bringing them closer so Aerden could accept their second ribbon.

If you do that again, I'm turning your hide into new leathers. Aerden threatened, but the threat held little weight.

As though you'd find such pretty leather anywhere else. Alenciath, enjoying the flight by moonlight? It does sparkle off my hide nicely, I think.

Fahn and Alenciath

Quote:
Hopping Between isn't the problem for this stop You get to where you need to go without trouble, and are able to seek out the weyrlingmaster and obtain that ribbon. Why did they think this was a challenge?

Despite the roughness of the last stop - and Fahn's overconfident picturing of Dust Sun Hold - things seemed to be improving greatly. They weren't bad to begin with, Fahnmine! Alenciath informed the young woman brightly as they circled above the hold, Fahn leaning - perhaps too much in her straps - to look for the assistant below. After a moment, she pressed her dragon with her legs and the pair, in a near barrel roll test of the young woman's straps, dropped down towards the rider.

Ribbon please - did Demodeth come by and get one too? Can I have two? Alenciath asked, as though a second ribbon from this stop would have made up for the lack of one from the last. Fahn laughed. "Yes! Two ribbons please!" she asked, indulging the green's competition with Demodeth.

While they waited for their ribbon - and answer - she trilled at the familiar shape of Tianxiath. Oh hello, Tianxiath! You are very sparkly and pretty all the time, but extra dark and sparkly now! Alenciath keened appreciatively, sending the blue a wave of her absolutely unhindered confidence.

Unfortunately, they'd not be indulged by the assistant and would move on to the next stop with only one ribbon.

Fahn and Alenciath

Quote:
You visualize the coordinates and make the leap. Roll a D10:

You appear right where you need to be, and are easily able to locate the assistant to be given a ribbon. Excellent! You're feeling good about this drill, and your dragon's abilities. No matter what might have happened before, or what would happen now, you're in a happy place. Gain a boost in confidence level!

As Tianxiath and Aerden vanished between, Alenciath grabbed the edges of the visual that Fahn was forming and took the leap. Fahn, for her part, didn't falter in the image of Whitecliff - it was a familiar neighbor in a sense so it's edges weren't hard to think of for it. That familiarity dropped Alenciath right where she needed to be and earned a bright hwenk! of delight from the petite green and a whooping cheer from Fahn.

Cupping her hands around her mouth, she gave a shout to the familiar bluerider that was taking the same route as she was: "Aerden! You're looking good!" she informed him even as Alenciath dropped to approach the next assistant with a familiar plea:

Can I have two ribbons? Has Demodeth been here? Can I have his ribbon too? Did he not get one? she inquired hopefully, earning a howl of laughter from Fahn as she leaned back in her straps. "Yes! Give us Demodeth's ribbon!" she appealed in turn as she was handed her single ribbon once again.

She didn't argue it, but Alenciath investigated the single ribbon with a small pout. Are you sure we can't have a second one? she asked again hopefully. Unfortunately, one was all they got once again.

Having admonished his dragon, Aerden didn't think they'd have any kind of problem going forward... or so he hoped. Tianxiath, however, practically swelled with Alenciath's compliments. His rider had barely summoned up the coordinates of Whitecliff Weyrhold in his mind before the blue jumped again, plunging them into Between. Nearly numb with disbelief, he had no doubt that the blue could feel his incredulity and mounting anger.

You can't do that. He didn't often bring his will down upon Tianxiath, but this time, he did. The blue mentally flinched with surprise. Nothing went wrong-- He began to protest, but Aerden didn't let him interrupt. If it does go wrong, it will be too late.

The blue was silent, but Aerden could sense his bewilderment. When Fahn called out, he raised his hand in silent greeting, and collected the ribbon from the assistant.

Confident and Above You give your dragon the coordinates and encourage them Between. The cat's in the bag! Except, by the time you come out Between you realize not only is it daylight -- but you're on the Southern Continent! You visualized not Western Hold but Southern Hold, confusing the morning's lesson in your haste. Oh for Faranth's sake. You hurriedly give the correct coordinates, and gain a ribbon--even if you're pretty sure the weyrlingmaster is well aware of what happened. Oops.

Another jump Between - Fahn didn't much like the cold of Between, it made her scrunch up her face and long for warmer places even in the few seconds it took. But the nice warmth on her face when she opened her eyes revealed to her she was....
...

"Alenciath, where are we?" Fahn asked, peering down below them. It certainly didn't look like Black Sands, despite how nice the weather was - and the sun being up definitely was on the iffy side as well. For her part, Alenciath was an innocent victim - I went where you showed me, the green informed her. After a moment of puzzling she determined they had simply made the wrong jump.

After a moment of correction, the two made another jump - this time to much darker skies with familiar dragons in it. No shame came swooping in on the heels of their mistake even at the side-eye they received as they approached the assistant for another ribbon - even if Alenciath again appealed for another ribbon.

R'in and Bronze Demodeth

R'in could feel Demodeth's impatience lessen the moment they arrived at Whitecliff Weyrhold and laid eyes on the next assistant. When Rossoth's voice rang out in his mind, that minor irritation ceased entirely.

It is now. We shall see if it continues. Best of luck, brother.

He landed near their goal, remaining still as R'in retrieved their second ribbon.

This would be their first time testing out coordinates in the dead of night. R'thell wouldn't say he was the most confident of riders, but he liked to think they would do well. So long as they didn't rush through, and so long as he made sure to clearly visualize his coordinates, he could only hope to succeed. The terror of jumping into the nothingness of Between had diminished the more Triesteth and he did so; but there was still a great risk anytime a rider made the leap--one wrong coordinate was all it took. Throw in the cover of darkness, and R'thell knew it would be more challenging.

But surely, they would persevere--wouldn't they?

Triesteth didn't doubt Hers for an instant, or any of their clutchmates. If any of them might do wrong, it would be her, for she was well aware she lacked a cleverness some of her clutchmates possessed. But that didn't mean they would fail, oh no--not with her beloved rider there to help her. This was to be a game, after all; perhaps she could help her clutchmates win?

"Ready then?" R'thell asked, even as they were assigned their coordinates.

The green gave a happy croon, even as she stretched her wings and gave them a test flap. Without the aid of the usual thermals, the red-haired man knew his green was likely going to be easily winded and need to flap more to keep herself airborne. Her damaged wing had healed since her Hatching days, but it was weaker than clutchmates, and caused her to more easly struggle even during good days.

Night flying would be a challenge, but they'd take as long as was necessary.

I don't mind if we lose or don't get as many ribbons as others. I'm just happy to fly with you tonight. No matter what she said, R'thell could feel her eagerness to please him, hiding a small wave of doubt in her skills.

He sent her a wave of love, and did his best to dissipate her worries. Being Yours is the real prize. And that was the truth.

It didn't take long for Triesteth to rise up above Western Weyr. One by one her clutchmates dark silhouettes disappeared. For a moment the two hovered as R'thell thought of the coordinates for Redoubt. He took his time, not rushing, and being, perhaps, overly cautious. Once he was satisfied, he gave Triesteth the signal to jump--

Immediately, the world disappeared. Even the dark of night was nothing compared to the nothingness of Between, and R'thell gripped tight to Triesteth's riding straps--straps he could not feel in the void.

One, two, three--

Reappearing, R'thell gasped at the cold wind that greeted them. Though Between had been frigid in a different way, the cold winds here were nothing like the humid air at Western Weyr. This had to be Redoubt! "That a girl!" R'thell praised, leaning down to scratch at the side of her neck fondly. The green gave a happy trill, before they set on their next task.

Ribbons.

Now...where was the weyrlingmaster anyway? See anything? He asked, leaning over one side as the green circled high above the Hold.

I'm afraid not. Perhaps if we--oh! Oh right there! Surely, that must be them. While a dragon's eyesight wasn't as sharp at night as it was during the day, it served them both well. Sure enough, she was lucky enough to see another weyrling flitter away from a cliffside.

Together, they went to fetch their ribbon.

Isteth! Oh Isteth! I found my very first ribbon. What of you? The little green's voice bubbled with happiness as she shared her experience with her blue clutchmate. Ah, but she didn't wish to brag, and quickly but sincerely added, If you haven't found one yet, you surely may have mine.

Pleased with their first assignment, R'thell gave a whoop as Triesteth once more took the air over the mountains of Redoubt. He sent waves of pleasure and pride to his delicate darling. She had done wonderfully, and given her usual lack of confidence, he wanted to make sure she knew just how proud of her she was. Surely, this was what they needed.

Ready for another jump? He asked, even as he visualized their next coordinates. Western Hold was next, and once he was certain of their coordinates, he gave the signal.

One, two, three--

Once more they made it, only to have another dragon appear dangerously close beneath them. Triesteth gave a squeal of fright, even as she scrambled to avoid a collision. Her eyes were a bright yellow white, and for one terrifying moment, R'thell wondered if she might not throw them back Between. Thankfully, the green did not--but had their wingmate been any closer, who knew what might have occurred?

Easy does it. We're okay, we're okay. R'thell thought, even as he slowly began to relax.

Both rider and dragon's nerves were shot, and grey inched into the corner of Triesteth's eyes. I should have been more careful. It is hard to see, and I know I don't fly well. I'm sorry, Mine. She spoke softly, as if the collision had been her fault. Honestly, it was so dark, it was hard to say what had happened or where the dark dragon had come from. But it didn't matter.

They were okay.

"Don't you worry, darling. We're here, we're okay. Let's go get you another ribbon, yeah? This will be two in our books."

Still, the duo were far more somber picking up their second ribbon, and quite on edge.
