It was a simple enough task, really. Keep the beaches clean, and help prevent further flooding if they were able. Poor Aryale had already expressed her utter displeasure at the water pouring into her hut, and he was currently keeping some of her things in his small allotted space. He set off down the beach, eyeing some people that just seemed to be.... throwing tiny rocks into the ocean.

All right then.

Bukcihi got to work, dragging aside larger rocks and driftwood to where it could be used to make barricades, tossing seaweed back into the ocean, so on and so forth. It was simple work, and it was easy to lose himself into the motions. He paused after some time to pass to survey his progress, satisfied with what he'd accomplished so far.

He hefted a piece of wood for a moment, testing the balance and weight of it almost without thinking. Not much of a weapon... Though he could probably still chuck it at the back of Matotoka's head and end up in serious trouble. With a snort at the thought, he went to toss it in the pile.

8 - You briefly (or not so briefly) consider using a particularly sturdy piece of debris as a makeshift sword. Alternatively, someone else challenges you to a duel with their own piece! Danzik allows it for a few minutes before suggesting the pieces would help the second group more.

Bukichi continued to comb the beach, steadily assisting with ridding the beach of all the debris that had washed up on the shore. The rains didn't seem like they were going to stop anytime soon, so they might have to come back out and do this several more times... but for now, he was pleased with what he was accomplishing. It was looking better. Not anywhere close to done, but better.

Quote:
6 - Working hard! The beach is already looking a bit better so take pride in your hard work!

The wet, rainy, even downright squelchy weather hadn't bothered Savindri much at all, and, agreeable and ever-helpful aa he was, he was actually quite happy to be on beach clean-up duty. It was almost like a scavenger hunt! Even if there wasn't much of great excitement to find - fish, rocks, and driftwood - it was still satisfying to find something that could be useful. But wait...what was that? That sounded like firelizard peeps! Unable to help himself, the lanky candidate ventured towards the sound...

And was almost immediately spotted and told to return. Though he looked longingly in the direction of the cheeping, he went back to work without delay.

You distractedly think you hear some peeping and cheeping of a firelizard. There are a few buzzing about farther down the beach - what are they making all the fuss about?

After the distraction of possible firelizards, Savindri had felt especially obliged to really put his back into his work: rocks, driftwood, whatever debris he could spot and get his hands on, he went right for! But it was tiring work, and eventually, he needed a bit of a break. His eyes went back to where he'd heard the cheeps, but...nope, he'd be good. No wandering.

Hey, a fish! Savindri scooped it up gently, but it quickly became apparent that it was dead. Well then. No sense leaving it on the beach, but if he threw it back in the water, what were the chances it would just wash up again? That also seemed like a waste, besides... Oh! Thinking back to the cheeping, he summoned Little and Spots.

"Here! You guys hungry?"

Quote:
1 - You're pretty sure this fish is dead. Are you sure you want to touch it with your hands? What else is around to do anything with? Whether you toss it back into the water or not it has to be moved, though.

Who was that? Nemeryn had intended to stick by Aneirin, only to realize some other Candidate was talking to him. It was enough to make him narrow his eyes, purposefully stepping closer to the courtesan with a decidedly threatening air. It didn't seem like the other had been having much luck with beach debris, so far. He didn't say anything, barely brushing against Aneirin with a shoulder even as he reached down to grab a particularly large piece of driftwood. Maybe he'd smack this other guy around the head with it--

A sudden jolt of pain flooded through him, and the big man dropped the stick with surprise to stare at his now slightly bloody hand. Before he could even think to shake it off, Danzik had spotted the injury and called him over.

It very much felt like a walk of shame as he grudgingly left his companion's side... only to be cleaned up and put on barricade duty. This was the exact opposite of what he wanted!

Nemeryn was not a small or weak man, so it was a little strange to feel so.... inadequate in comparison to his current company. He was shooting sidelong looks at the green dragon effortlessly digging, having never really seen a dragon up close outside of the one who had Searched him. She made it look so easy.

Still, just because it didn't feel like he was doing much didn't mean that he wasn't helping. He kept digging and tried not to think about Aneirin and his new mysterious friend.

Quote:
1 - Digging is hard when you are a small person and not the big (by comparison) green dragon scooping up sand with a foot. Maybe you can sneak in a break since she seems to have it under control. Or not! Up to you!

Huh. Seemed like he found something in the sand, and he paused to take a better look. It probably wasn't anything interesting, but...

1-3. Shardit! Just a pretty rock. Maybe you can keep that or use it for this chore, though.
4. The rain must have buried this firelizard egg! Mom won't find it here, so you may as well take it, right? [Quote Pach - you can only roll this once per player!]

Nemeryn stopped with surprise as his fingers brushed over something very smooth. Was that... an egg? Had it gotten washed out of its nest? Feeling a bit bewildered, he carefully picked it up, glancing around to see if anyone had noticed. Leaving it in the cold sand was a death sentence, assuming it wasn't a dud. Carefully, he tucked it into his shirt so it could warm up some.

Maybe Aneirin would have a better idea what to do with it.

Poor little egg was buried in the sand!

Clear the Beach- Sablie

Sablie didn't mind them coming out with cleaning up the beach and protecting the weyrs of those who lived along it. It may be drizzling, but it just excited her, if she were honest. Her hair was done up in her usual messy braid and she had put on her coat, like they had all be instructed to do. She listened to the instructions of Danzik and Eosphoth, nodding her head. Once they were given the go ahead, she began to get to work with the cleaning up the beach.

She had been moving some debris, when she heard what sounded like a firelizard making noise. Well, she should probably check that out and make sure they were okay, right? So she began heading in that direction, when she tripped over a branch when she was called back. Opps, she should have realized someone would notice her.

Clear the Beach- Sablie

Sablie had gotten right back to work, hoping in her mind though that the firelizard she had heard was alright. She had been so lost in her thoughts, that when she picked up some debris, she held it in such a way that she felt something in her finger. She winced as she looked down to see she had gotten a splinter, she could see the sliver of wood sticking out. She knew she needed to take it to Danzik for her to look at. So she walked over and allowed Danzik to look at it and clean it for her. While she had hoped to do more with the debris, she was alright with changing to the barricades for now.

Build a Barricade- Sablie

Sablie had managed to get over to where they were working on barricades, to protect the weyrs on the beach. She began working on digging, humming softly as she did so. Her finger still hurt some, but she tried not to let that bother her. Unfortunately, she wasn't fully paying attention when she got a little too close to a wallow belonging to a dragon who was currently resting there.

"Oh, I am sooo sorry for bothering you. You are an amazing dragon and I would never want to bother you,"she apologized quickly. Typical Sablie and her accident proned ways. Thankfully, the dragon seemed understanding and didn't call Danzik on her accident.

Quote:
7. You dig too close to the wallow of a resting dragon and they turn a baleful look upon you. Do they let it go or do you call on Eosphoth and Danzik to mediate a little bit. Or maybe it ends up being no big thing and they are simply curious.
