It is difficult to judge when their hides are so... drab. No ghost-like pallor or vibrant blue, or green. Nothing to recommend him, Talmaith was afraid. He turned a critical eye on the weaving dancers, brown and bronze blurring together. I suppose that one there is a bit more bright, taking note of Tierboskath amid the chasers. Some of them are doing very poorly, are they not? The rest look better by comparison. Even though none of them are as fast as you, little Bai.

Finally, the broad expanse of sand gave way to the slip of the oceanfront, and then onto the expansive sea. The ocean churned so far beneath them, a deep, fathomless blue-black being pelted by the rain, waves crashing barely muted by the falling rain and crunch of thunder. Khamaith dipped slightly, riding a breeze and allowing it to carry her -- anything to try and conserve energy. The refreshing rain that hit her, sluices falling away as she beat her wings. There’s a touch of exhilaration in her, to fly without constraints or patterns -- anywhere she wanted to go, but ever mindful of the thunderstorm overhead.

My Odunith, hm? Khamaith gives a slight hum, considering his choice of words. But will those same passions echo come morning after? Athletic prowess is grand, dear; but what about after the passion? No doubt such a strong, healthy dragon would give her a healthy clutch.

There’s a brief moment of alarm, the worrying whites shooting through her purple eyes as she watched a lightning strike nearly claim Mesikath, nearly claim her friend. Oh, my dear. I’m glad you are safe -- it seems the storm may be a touch.. testy. Yet she cast a warmth over him, like a warm wing across his back, as Khamaith turned to face forward once more. Do be careful, please -- I know someone who would like you returned in one piece.

It takes her a moment to respond to Haezeth, crooning sweetly even as he moved ahead of her. Though instinct drives me, every breath I take is for him -- and a brighter future for us all that drives me forward. She beat her wings harder, fuelled by the desire to see her beloved on the ground once more, to raise a healthy clutch the two -- perhaps even three, dare she tentatively hope -- of them. Your honesty is heartening, Haezeth. Strong of mind, strong of body -- all favorable traits.

Her bright eyes took in sweetest Turoth, delighting in those who had kept pace with her. As I am lucky to have such wonderful dragons to have followed me into this night. Though I have a hard choice ahead, my hearts are alight from good company. To share the sky with her, and dance among the droplets -- what more could she have asked for? Khamaith basked in his wave of encouragement, crooning sweetly in return.

Delight shoots through her. Almost as lucky as I, to share the sky with so many wonderful dragons. Khamaith twirls through the air, enjoying how the water breaks away with her. No doubt there will be all the time later to sleep, Rheinoth. She, herself, looked forward to finding her wallow once more.

There was a stroke of comfort at having a close friend amidst this confusing time. Though she had to approach her impending decision with an open mind, the sweet wave of warmth was sent to Aleyath. A thousand suitors, I can hardly imagine. They’d blot out the sun! The choice she’d have to make, oh..

She gave a soft rumble, pausing on Atarith’s musings. Past the clouds, beyond the horizon to see the sun once more? Khamaith mused with a touch of innocent humor. Though I follow the wind, we shall see where we all end up at the end of this night. There’s a shimmering warmth to her words, a brim of excitement and curiosity.

Khamaith responded in turn to Illiandinth with a wave of shimmering warmth, for both his praise and his desire to chase. There would be no judgement from her, not when her hearts were planted upon the shore as well. Dance I shall, dear.

A wave of good-natured humor sparks through her. The lightning grants us all a spotlight, Tierboskath. Though she knew why most of her entourage chased, she could not pick multiple dragons -- and could only hope they would find comfort elsewhere. Though there is a wave of admiration from her to the graceful blue, more agile than she could ever hope to be.

Your respect is a comfort, Thespeth. He had kept perfect pace with her, Khamaith couldn’t help but to take note. She crooned, turning slightly to gaze at him fondly. I look forward to seeing how you tackle my challenge, as well as the storm’s.

You could never disappoint me, Spurth. You heeded my call to dance tonight, after all. There’s a flash of delight as the bronze shot ahead of her, and she reached out to press a gentle, soothing warmth to his cheek; a peck of affection.

Oh, he was a sweet boy, wasn’t he? There’s a brief flash of concern as she coiled to spy and make certain that Hinokith hadn’t been hurt, before she breathed a soft breath of relief. Good. It wouldn’t do to have anyone hurt tonight, after all. I have no doubts you will, Hinokith. The night is still early, though, and we’ve yet to finish tonight’s dance.

Gently, Khamaith reached out to blanket Vanidoth with a soothing warmth, for her slip had worried her. Though nothing had deterred him from chasing, and for that she’s glad -- hopefully he hadn’t injured himself. If I am the sun, then does that make you one of the moons, to follow in its path?

Warmth I have for all, sweet Kelilayth. A soft warmth, the press of a nuzzle beneath his chin, as she crooned sweetly to the brown dragon. Khamaith curled around briefly, to admire him once more. Perhaps you might, for anything is quite possible tonight. Though the night is young, and I’ve still energy to spare~.

Though Uskatath’s directness had initially pulled at her curiosity, now it only made her gaze want to wander away. Yet she was a polite girl, and though her metaphorical feathers hardly ever ruffled, her tone lacked the gentle warmth that typically coated every syllable. The health of my children is important to me, yes, though so will is the manners of those that might play an additional claw in their tending. Particularly when they address a… dame. Or whomever they spoke to. If honeyed words and mid-flight tenderness were the possible absolution of her worries for a near turn, then let it be her rookie mistake.

The storm proved to be unkind towards some of her suitors, though it’s when Aizoroth spoke that Khamaith found herself relieved. With your determination, no doubt I would be safe in your claws. Soft and sweet, ever grateful that the storm hadn’t battered down another of her handsome suitors. But if the wind cannot hold you down, perhaps you could lead our dance~

Carve her likeness into stone? Now her attention had been gained, by something other than platitudes and promises of pleasure. Dearest Fusoroth, none could ever deny that you have passion in plenty. Khamaith hummed gently, dipping and curling her large form to peer back at the large brown.

And I am ever grateful for your companionship tonight, dear Moseleth. And there he was, conserving his energy. A smart one, though it was quite interesting to see their strategies as the night went on. With how fickle a storm could be, only time would tell who might have had a better approach.

Khamaith’s wings took her further with each downbeat, finding small thermals to coast on as she tried to conserve any energy that she absolutely could. A quite interesting group of boys, all with a different range of approaches. There's an itch of worry in her, but the lust and love in her veins was at war. Certainly her mate would make an excellent father, but was she too green to still hope for something besides an exhausting night, and a healthy, large clutch? A heavy beat of her wings had Khamaith pushing herself forward -- away from distracting thoughts, and back into the present.

Let's see how you move. In a splash of playfulness, Khamaith backwinged, hovering but for a second before turning quickly -- as quickly as the chubby girl could, anyhow. Her delight is palpable, crooning a sweet few notes as the clouds began to swallow her up, and the rain began to thin.

Brown Mesikath of B'jor

A sweet sister, full of of concern even when her mind and hearts was certainly elsewhere. He crooned - full of reassurance. He was certainly made of sterner stuff! Oh, yes she would never forgive him if he became injured climbing the skies. But what was he made of if he didn’t prowl the skies to be sure Khamiath remained safe? To be certain no claw came to mar her hide - or other’s she appreciates in kind? He would find warmth in his wallow, soon - perhaps sooner than other suitors. Until his strength failed him, he will keep a watchful eye and a wing open.

It will take more than a storm to tear me from her. His strength sustaining his swooping wings. Climb high, golden comet. You are the awe of all the weyr tonight. Let this be a proud moment.

Meskiath clicked his jaws, teeth rumbling in his skull. Some certainly dripped with… intentions, feeling Moseleth’s gaze shifting over him - and others. To lift wing and tail to attract suitor attention and away from a gentle queen who deserved all of their undivided attention. Of all irritable things. He hissed under his wing towards them. Khamiath had not even picked her suitor! Such disrespect.

And perhaps his brash nature assumed the worst from those crooning about large clutches. How awful it was to hear that they might not love her but can stuff her full of a large clutch? What of respect? What of glowing pride in their clutch? Mesikath suddenly felt very old,as though his muzzle should be graying and his bones aching with such thoughts.

Bronze Illiandinth of C'sar

If Illiandinth did not succeed, whether now or in the future, his line would die with him. There was no golden sister to whom eggs were guaranteed. It was true that Vimiath had many a child, but that particular blend would likely never again be seen. Were there any hope that his brothers and sisters might have nieces and nephews, it would be upon his shoulders to provide such a thing. Perhaps it was clinical, perhaps it was not romantic, but was Khamaith up in the air searching for romance? No.

Or so it appeared. I cannot promise you my hearts, for they are not mine for the giving. Nor do I imagine you wish them. But this dance I can share with you, Khamaith of Susurinth's line. Let me dance with you, and we shall see who among all of these, your suitors, might prove worthy of your choice... however temporary it might be. He had a purpose, as did she. He would not pretend otherwise. But surely this at least could be understood.

When she turned, he snapped his wing partially closed, using his tail to correct his trajectory. Following after her thus proceeded with ease, and was it so surprising that the clever beast had learned a trick or two, even from watching?

1. Strength (15) + Stamina (15): 18/30
2. Wits (7) + Speed ( cool : 5/15

The bronze dragon continued to follow, along with the other bronzes, brown, and fool blue. The rain did not bother him, nor the thunder that rolled through the skies. Even though Khamaith's words lacked warmth, the bronze was undeterred. Did he care about her? No more than any bronze cared about a glowing gold who was not her friend or favored escort.

He did give a snort though, and sent a wave of laughter--though only he was likely to see the humor. You assume much thinking that every male here might be so involved. Protecting you while you clutch, protecting the eggs, certainly; humoring your white, as one must--but upon Hatching, it is their riders they will turn to to see them through. If you think any male here is being genuine with their praise and devotion, I certainly can't stop you from believing. My manners might not be what you desire, but learn this of me, Queen--at least I'm not a liar.

He wasn't into games, at least not like this. Maybe that was his first mistake. She had taken on, as her preferred company, a white who was hardly more than an overgrown hatchling himself. Perhaps games were what she wanted--but something told Uskatath he wouldn't like the only games he'd be tempted to play
- - - - -

Uskatath He is a bronze who would probably suit High Reaches Weyr better than Western. That said, he remains out of a sense of duty--for now. He's judgmental, pompous, arrogant, and not entirely a friendly sort of bronze. He's all edges, and not afraid of a good fight. But he is a formidable Threadfighter and reliable (if unpleasant) wingmate.

N'sarl: He was once trouble, and even after Impression, hasn't gotten much better. He's considered transferring to High Reaches, but remains for now. He's aloof, rough-around-the-edges, and generally hard to get to know. He's slightly-less-pompous than his bronze, and can (quietly) do good things when the mood strikes.

(I am only playing to have fun and do NOT want to win Khamaith's flight! So please don't pick them. I do plan on creating them down the road.)

Unlike his more recalcitrant brother, Baihath chortled with mirth at the description. They aren't so bad... Oh! But what if we could make them prettier with paint? I remember being painted! Of course, the white puffed up with pure pleasure at the compliment, nosing underneath Talmaith's chin. Maybe they'll play with me when they come back! We can have a race! Assuming he hadn't tired himself out by then.

Soon, both Khamaith and her flock of suitors had disappeared from sight, eliciting a cheep of surprise from Baihath. Never one to be discouraged, the little dragon sat up and peered intently into the darkness as though watching something. Oh, oh! Do you see them, brother?! A monster's come out of the water! It thinks Khamaith is the most beautiful treasure its ever seen! If they don't fight it, it'll take her away! He couldn't help but mince in place, taken in by his own game.

Go away, you mean old monster! He flopped dramatically into the sand, rolling onto his side to bump against Talmaith once more.

Because he'd overflown her a bit at first, it made it all the harder for him to bank and follow her very quick turn, nearly rolling as he worked to right himself and follow her. Haezeth was drawn forward by the croon she offered to him, her words of loyalty to her love and the future of Western Weyr had him working all the harder. For the place he was hatched and raised, for the place he'd fought for since Thread had returned to scar Pern.

Really it only served to spur him on all the faster as the queen's joy was washing over him and the rest of the chasers. Your loyalty and honor are more desirable traits by far, as are your movements! What a quick flier you are! Now that he'd righted himself and was once again in the chase instead of sailing off into the night himself, Haezeth had to focus on flying high and fast after her into the clouds. Rain streaked off of him as he climbed into the clouds, pushing his wings as hard as they would allow.

NPC K'dan of Brown Rheinoth

Ah! He watched as she twisted so effortlessly, and the brown had to admit that he was feeling mighty pleased with himself. How could he not be, when she seemed to be having such a good time? Maybe it was a touch arrogant to think he was helping with that, but hey! So distracted with her in general, Rheinoth.... just kept flying as Khamaith seemed to turn on a dive, playfully darting away.

He flapped clumsily before twisting after her, allowing his own delight to radiate. Cleverly done, dear lady! Nearly had me going nose over tail right into the ocean! And wouldn't THAT have been a wake-up call!

-----

Rheinoth: A very relaxed dragon! Rheinoth is the definition of chill and has no shame about it. He'd prefer it if everyone had a good time and is definitely the peacemaker of most groups.

K'dan: Prone to overthinking and general anxiety, but hides it well. He can be a little cagey with strangers, but has a good heart.

NPC Bronze Spurth and En'cai

All right, so he'd missed her in his enthusiasm. Flown right past her and had to put on the breaks, so to speak, backwinging to keep her in sight and follow where she led next. But that little moment of affection? That was enough to make the bronze nearly wag his tail like a ccanine pup. So what if his joy slowed him down. She liked him! She really liked him! He bugled for the sheer happiness and announced, You are the Queen for me, Khamaith. The one who makes me happy, the one I will give my everything to please!

----

Spurth: Energetic and confident, this bronze is a friendly guy. Determined and demnding, particularly of En'cai. He has very high expectations and can be very hard on himself if he fails to meet them, but he doesn't sulk. He just gets up and tries again. He also possesses quite a sense of humor and enjoys playing, whether that's romping in the lake or racing or chasing in a Flight.

En'cai: Not nearly as intimidating as he might look at first glance, En'cai is tall (6'5") and broad and carries a lot of muscle, but he is very rarely angry or threatening. He's just really good at doing the literal heavy lifting and sometimes is a little more enthusiastic than he needs to be. Perpetually late, despite his best efforts.

Thespeth missed Khamiath’s turn at first and then there were dragons in his way as they all turned to follow her. He fell back but so did a number others. With a mental laugh, he responded to Khamiath. I have not dealt well with your surprise I fear. You have me out of sorts and reacting as a youngling in his first flight instead of the old hardened oaf that I am. He fell into flight with the others as he tried to make up ground. He didn’t push himself too hard knowing this was as much an endurance test as a speed one.

NPC Bronze Atarith of L'sil

Perhaps you will lead us to chase the stars and to touch the moons above - to a place where everything screams to be touched for how rare and lovely it is. To see what temptations could draw us away and make us waver in our claims of loyalty and devotion to your cause. While low in tone, the hum in his chest vibrated like a bass against a hard surface, echoing out in song that pittered into the rain and was left behind as he twisted, using his wings to stop himself and turn to follow after her. Hardly as graceful as a blue or green or even a brown could have, but not as clumsily as he himself had done previously.

Drip, drip, drop. The water made all dragons in the sky shine - wether they did on their own or not. What a lovely entourage they made as they all found their parts and fell into them. Whether they knew those parts or not remained to be discovered. Certainly they all desired to be the lead.

----
(I just had the NPC clutch so I am entering because ilu, please don't pick him!)

Atarith is a Gentleman - a dueling gentleman who takes great offense at those who do not mind their manners. While he is not vicious, he is very stern and prone to altercations because of it.

NPC Bronze Vanidoth of S'gatte

A moon--your moon. That's what I am. Vanidoth can feel the spray of the ocean against his chest as he followed her over the ocean--he's still at the back of the pack, but he can see her clearly up ahead. There's so many other Bronzes surrounding him, and he can't help but tense up. He didn't want to get caught up in anyone's claws, so he'd have to keep an eye on them all. Wrapped up in your light, trying to reflect back even a tenth of it so you can see some of your grandeur how I do.

------

About Vanidoth: Quiet, polite, and understated, Vanidoth is definitely a dragon best suited to staying out of the limelight. He doesn't like having a lot of attention placed on him, and would much rather deflect all of that focus to someone else. He's hardworking and dependable, but gets easily embarrassed if he's recognized for his contributions.

Odunith pumped his wings harder, throwing his entire body into the effort of keeping up with Khamaith. You are radiant as the sun, Khamaith, the bronze crooned. The rain glistens off your glorious hide, as it does mine. Look, behold! He executed a roll in the air, ending it with a throaty roar. Surely you can see that I will give you the finest offspring!

R'yat chuckled deep in his throat as he made his way to the Weyrbowl. His beloved bronze as giving it his all to woo the gold. He would have to give his all too, to woo the queen's rider. Little Bai, Talmaith said gently, letting his white brother flop against him. Are you afraid that the monster is going to take Khamaith away? Leaning down so, so low, the blue nuzzled the cavorting terror. But surely Khamaith can fight a monster if she must. His eyes a soft, affectionate blue-green, the blue dragon covered his brother with an extended wing. I think that the monster is in danger. Don't you?

As for the comment about the paint, well... sometimes it wasn't best to remind Baihath that he would suffer Bai to paint him if paint him he wished. There was every chance that he'd become distracted and forget about paint. Some of them might want to play, it's true. Do you want to play with them, little Bai? he inquired, nudging him.

NPC Brown Aizoroth of Jiquitaia

The lithe brown dragon crooned as kindness and relief wrapped around him, in the form of her voice. I would not compare myself to others… But it would be my honour to show you the rhythm of my hearts, and the fleetness of my wings.

He bugled in rapture as she back winged, practically hovering as the cloud of suitors followed behind. He darted away, climbing with a swiftness that saw the creature trilling in delight, then fell downwards like a stone returning to its hard home, wings tucked against his back as he spiralled childishly, gleefully through the air.

I shall not heed the follies of the shadows, he began, desire and devotion coating his tones, but follow your guiding light as you lead us, Khamaith.

He pulled up, avoiding collision with others, then propelled himself forwards. He wasn't ahead or behind, but he felt list-fuelled energy trickle from his body, his wings tingling with exertion. The trick had been foolish- an overdone cry for attention, perhaps… But here was a maiden on her maiden flight, and did she not deserve to have every whim attended to, and to be doted upon? If her suitor left her dissatisfied, Aizoroth would rise to the occasion, no matter how unwelcome he might be.

My wings will bear you back to your moon-hued love; I will guard the keepsakes of our passion, the memory of tonight and the beautiful life we will bring to the world. Your sparkling brilliance and my tenacity... Our resolve, our curiosity, our desire... What will come of the joining of our wings and hearts? Because Aizoroth knew how to move, and how to wax poetical.

Status

Aizoroth is a sociable, amiable dragon of about 10 Turns. He is charming and full of sparkly wit, but deep down longs for hearts to protect, and for a dragon in whom he can entrust his own. Though reluctant to let his guard down, this happy but love-lorn fellow can always be depended upon to do right by others, and to accomplish his duty to Pern.

Jiquitaia, or Tai as she’s known to her friends, is a cautious young woman who needs time and gentleness to come out of her shell. She’s a resourceful young lady, independent and more than capable of handling herself, but sometimes this causes her to appear standoffish. Deep down she’s very committed to her Weyr-home. She is available for interaction, and will be made into a PC soon regardless of the outcome of this Flight.
